Father, we
repent as a nation of not turning to YOU in these times of violence. As Daniel
prayed in 9:4-19 …..O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and
mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments, we
have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by
departing from Your precepts and Your judgments. Neither have we heeded Your
servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings and our princes, to
our fathers and all the people of the land.
O, Lord,
righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face, as it is this day----to
the men of this nation who have been unfaithful to YOU!
(v.8) O
Lord, to us belongs shame of face to our (leaders, our fathers) who have sinned
against You …….To the Lord our God
belong mercy and forgiveness though we have rebelled against Him. v. 14 Therefore the LORD has kept the
disaster in mind, and brought it upon us; for the LORD our God is righteous in
all the works which He does, though we have not obeyed His voice. V. 15 And
now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a
mighty hand, and made Yourself a name, as it is this day-----we have sinned, we
have done wickedly!
v.16 O
Lord, according to all your righteousness, I pray, let Your anger and Your fury
be turned away from us….this nation which was established in YOUR holy name…
v. 17 Now,
therefore our God, hear the prayer of Your servant and his supplications, and
for the Lord’s sake cause Your face to shine on Your sanctuary, which is
desolate. 18 O my God , incline Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and see our
desolations and the city which is called
by Your name, for we do not present our
supplications before You because of our righteous deeds but because of
Your great mercies. 19 O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act!
Do not delay for Your own sake my God, for Your city and Your people are called
by Your name.
From verse
14, we see the LORD has kept the disaster in mind for the land! When people
choose to lift up the false narratives and false ways and give praise to those
who choose to be lazy and not work, but beat up and kick to the curb those who
sacrifice time for their family, for their job and to be responsible then a
nation has gone in the wrong direction!
What comes
from our hearts? Is there a cry for righteousness or just to get our own way? What
if we ask God for His way and His truth? What if we walk the straight and the
narrow to see His kingdom come on earth and in us? Jesus did not come to accommodate
our culture, but He did come to set up His kingdom!
WHEN Daniel
prayed out his petitions to God: he prayed basing them on God’s character: His greatness , His faithfulness, His righteousness
, His forgiveness & mercies; & on the very interests God has for His
people including the city of Jerusalem, the holy mountain of God, His sanctuary.
If we as a
nation see corruption, do we pray for our leaders, not only in the government
of this nation as our President, vice-President, those that represent the
districts within states of this union,
but also for the mayors of cities & towns, for police officers,
firefighters, those first-responders & medics or for our schools & those
as leaders in those places? Do we stand in the gap, when so much immorality is
given in war of words, paraded in commercials on T.V., flaunted on our streets
& where lies prevail in the marketplace!
WHO will
stand in the gap for God: Ezekiel 22:29-30
NKJV The people of the land have used oppression's, committed robbery,
& mistreated the poor & needy; & they wrongfully oppressed the stranger. 30 So I
sought for a man among them who would make a wall, & stand in the gap
before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no
one.
Are we too
busy to pray? Are we caught up in tracing our ancestors of yesteryear that we
have no time for today? Do we look for more ways to be entertained than to see
why our children are acting out in public or at school? For what is in one’s heart will certainly
reflect what they fill up on in the place they call home.
Our
grand-daughter had been over for a visit in recent weeks and one of the things
I noticed that a channel I purposed showed nothing for a nine year old. It was
young teens acting like they were twenty years and older and then acted out like they were much older for those things with guys
that was not prudent or safe for a young girl to see and entertain within her
thinking. YES, I changed the channel!
What has
happened to this nation? What has happened to your nation? Do we pray for our
leaders and those in charge of making decisions or are those elected only there to direct their wishes onto the
public. I heard a man speaking yesterday that all baby-boomers were spoiled
children and they all acted out by becoming hippies. In regards to a past president, he made comment of the Clinton's and their thing with 'pot'.
My husband and I were considered of that
generation, but we came later and while those twenty something’s were out
parading with their drug paraphernalia, going bare-footed, and speaking “groovy
man” we were working after school. My husband worked till dark every day after
school while he was still at home. I was to do my homework and then to
find the dish soap to wash a dish when the dinner was done, and if the lawn
needed cutting, my sister or I would cut it in order to help our parents out who both worked
for a living.
'Pot' was not a part of our thing, paraphernalia or anything else. If my dad or mother knew we had gone to do any of that kind of thing, we certainly would know that sitting down would be a hard thing for us do for the next week and we would know that we were not to do that thing again. My parents did not drink in front of us nor behind us. They chose to leave that stuff when raising a family.
Some of the people that I
knew told stories of that hippie thing were those who were born in the early and mid-forties of the twentieth century. So too
me, they were those who did not have a father at home due to the battles
overseas and the war with Japan. Still, we had our dad at home with us when the
Vietnam war came. The sacrifice that came was because people dared to think our
nation could continue as the one nation under God. And many who went to war did not
return home to their home or family again!
We were
taught to have a respect for those who fought those battles overseas so there
would never be battles here. But I believe someone forget to teach the
importance of knowing the truth of those wars and why they were fought over there!
When our
daughter was growing up, we taught her about the history of our state and the
history of the nation. We talked about relatives who went to fight overseas and
reminded her of those who gave their lives for that freedom that she could
enjoy!
What we magnify, we create!
As Daniel prayed: " O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments, we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments. Neither have we heeded Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings and our princes, to our fathers and all the people of the land."
Yes, we have committed iniquity and it continues to grow at an alarming rate. Will people wake up to the "mess" that embroils this place we call 'home'? Or are we satisfied to go about doing our own thing as long as we are not disturbed in any way.
Many of those who came after us and still considered 'the baby boomers' have all held jobs and raised their children to become adults that choose to live in a house and pay taxes. They chose to raise their children to know truth and be raised in the admonition of the LORD.
I pray people would stop playing the 'blame game' and come out from among them to find peace in God and become all that He purposed for His people. For He has given us direction in our identities. He purposed us from our mother's womb to be precisely who He planned for from the foundation of the world. I pray people would stop to pray whenever they read this or wherever they might be that they would set their hearts to pray and to hear from heaven for this nation and its leaders, for that place where they live and reside to be responsible with what God has placed in their hands to do for Him and His glory.
Father, we pray because we love You our
creator. As the man or woman, we have this
desire to be together with You and communicate! We give praise for who You are and
what awesome power and majesty surrounds You. You are our strength and You are
our portion, our source and our life!
Jesus
warned his disciples to watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation
(Matthew 26:41)
(Matthew 26:41)
Thank You Father for the power in prayer for we have learned
that having this spiritual life is air to our natural life. Today we choose
prayer so that we would not become the weak and the exposed. Nor we will not
allow the enemy to gain any ground in deceiving us.
We ask
for intervention so that human affairs will not dominate this nation and the
world. We invite You to work on earth so
that Your kingdom comes into those multitudes who would be lost without this intervention.
We are
thankful for salvation and we earnestly remember Your goodness to us in the
land of the living. We set out to pray and not lose heart and to pray without
ceasing. For in Daniel we saw him pray and be given more insight to revelations
of You and Your kingdom. We know those who have been subdued by the strength of
Your fire. For those raged against Daniel certainly were hushed when consumed
by the lions when they had poised to take out Daniel because he prayed. Chains were broken for
Paul & Silas when they praised God. And Hannah received a child into what was once a barren womb when she prayed and believed for that child that God could give.
We
pray expecting truth to prevail in this nation and around the world. We pray
for our brothers and sisters in Christ, both near and far that they would see
Your kingdom come into their lives, into their communities and into their
nations. For in these times of violence, we pray for them to have freedom in religion to worship the true God,
where the fountain of life flows and the blessings manifest!
We pray babies will no longer be aborted but live for God and for His glory. We pray marriages would be strong and overcome the works of the flesh. We pray children would be raised to know the truth of God and become the strength He has planned for their lives in the future. We call out those destined for leadership and to take their rightful places in righteousness of God to pray, to inhale His goodness and His word and exhale the strength of that wisdom into the work place, schools, and government.
We pray for the safety of children of all ages and that the enemy cannot touch them in the womb or within their homes. The enemy cannot have our children or grand-children, and he cannot touch what we have asked God to protect by the blood of His son Jesus!
We pray for safety for our brothers and sisters in Christ who go out to give the Gospel to those wandering in the dark. Father, thank You for their faithful hearts and give them strength to carry out Your plan. We honor You this day and this hour and speak, Come Lord Jesus, Come!
It is in Jesus' name we have prayed. Amen
