Halloween: No FEAR

So, what is the attraction of Halloween? Are people really into ghouls, goblins,  spirits, devilry, and monsters? Are Americans really that attracted to the otherworldly theme of the holiday? And who called it a holiday? Unto the contrary, most Americans do not believe in demonic or even angelic spirits enough to think of Halloween as some kind of celebration of them. No, their thought process takes them in a celebration as such. It is in the donning of costumes and the consumption of alcohol: Halloween is the year's biggest escape from reality!

It seems this period of celebration increases each year. Have seen Halloween products sold with Christmas decorations. So what goes on here, guys?

The ancient Celtic celebration of Samhain (November 1), from which All Saints' Day and All Hallows Eve derive, was a kind of New Year’s as unto a holiday. Along with the days immediately before and after, it was special because the Celts believed that the boundary between this world and the spirit world was relaxed or lifted, allowing spirits to cross between them more easily. As this idea terrified superstitious people, they mollified the spirits by leaving out food and treats so that they would not curse them. Some practiced various forms of divination as in the seance to contact departed loved ones. Druids thought this to be the best time to seek guidance from the dead!  Some people would go in the house through the window, and exit the same. ( Makes you think of those who are willing to rob another in their home)

At this time, people do what they desire. They have an enthusiastic attitude to having a great time of entertainment: indoors and outdoors!

Have seen another nation with their folks coming in by an illegal manner worship the dead. They set up tables and worship their dead by telling young school students about an ancient grandmother or such. But skulls are out of line indeed when displayed for a young child to see in this nation. ( now they are making quilts to worship the dead. How sick is that?)

Turning toward Timothy: Three brief letters of First and Second Timothy and Titus were written by the apostle Paul to two evangelists, Timothy and Titus. These three epistles are often called "The Pastoral Epistles." This is a result of misunderstanding who a pastor is according to New Testament teaching. Many people have the mistaken idea that a preacher is the same as a pastor. They always confuse the roles of preachers (evangelists) with that of pastors (elders). The Bible, however, makes a clear distinction between evangelists and pastors. They do not refer to the same work in the church (Reading in Ephesians 4:11).

Since the letters of Timothy and Titus were written to evangelists rather than pastors, it is more accurate to call them "The Evangelistic Epistles." Even though First Timothy and Titus do contain the qualifications of elders (pastors), the letters were specifically written to preachers rather than to elders. Do you know any elders?

In Acts 20, we read of Paul's speech to the elders of the church. He warned them of the coming of false teachers who would draw away disciples after their teaching (Acts 20:28-32). Paul’s prophecy soon came true. It was necessary for him to leave Timothy at Ephesus to "charge some that they teach no other doctrine" (1 Timothy 1:3).

Two verses in First Timothy sum up what the epistle is about: "These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth" (1 Timothy 3:14,15).

Chapter one of First Timothy speaks of the importance of teaching correct doctrine. Chapter two deals with the place of women in the church. Men and women are equal in salvation (Galatians 3:28), but they have different works in the church. Man is commanded to take the lead in prayers and teaching. Women are to "learn in silence with all submission" (1 Timothy 2:11). They are not to teach publicly where they have authority over men. Two reasons are given for this:

God created man first;  Adam was not deceived, but Eve was.

In chapter 3 of Timothy, there are three prime qualifications of elders and deacons. It is God’s plan that each congregation be led by men called elders, or bishops (overseers), or pastors (shepherds). However, one must be qualified before he can serve in this important work. Deacons are special servants of the church. They serve under the elders of the church in works assigned to them. They too must be qualified.

Beginning here Paul to the evangelist Timothy: God has not given us fear, as to being cowardly, that cringing and fawning fear of dread. 2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

1.   Meaning a safe and sound mind is found in Jesus ;It is also the disciplined mind, with the ability to understand and make right decisions

2.   The safe or sound mind has the qualities of self-control / self-discipline..

3.   One who has the spirit of fear is immobilized and tormented; they are banking on wrong decisions that gives way to bondage

4.   2 Timothy 1:6 tell us to remember our calling: Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in your through the laying on of my hands.

5.   Within us, we have the power of God through Holy Spirit, enabling us to be victors and not victims; The perfect love of God has been poured out into our hearts, our lives through Jesus Christ; we have His abiding presence, and His mind to make sound choices

Timothy was given a word by Paul to remember God had given him a overcoming spirit. He had the Holy Spirit, so no fear could abide there. Timothy, who was honoring God---a young disciple became Paul’s companion in many of  the journeys.  Timothy’s mother Eunice and his grandmother, Lois, are mentioned for their righteousness. At the time of Paul’s second trip or visit to Lystra, Timothy was seen as read in acts 16:2. Acts 16:1-2 Then he came to Derbe and Lystra. And behold a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of certain Jewish woman who believed, but his father was Greek. 2 He was well spoken of by the brethren who were at Lystra and Iconium.

Paul had high regard for Timothy and saw him as his spiritual son in the Faith. It was Paul who arranged for Timothy to become his companion.  IN Acts 16:3 Paul wanted to have him go with him. He had him circumcised because of the Jews who were in that region, for they all knew that his father was Greek.  After the circumcision, Paul designated Timothy to the office of an evangelist found in 1 Timothy 4:14. Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. They gave him God’s purpose and the gifts God placed in Him. He traveled with Paul through Phrygia, Galatia, Mysia---also to Troas and Philippi in Acts 17.

Timothy followed Paul to Athens and then Paul sent Timothy with Silas to Thessalonica on a mission’s trip. Acts 17:15 and 2 Thessalonica 3:2….and sent Timothy our brother and minister of God and our fellow laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you and encourage you concerning your faith, 3 that no one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we are appointed to this.

Then Timothy appeared in Corinth: 1 Thessalonica 1:1 and 2 Thessalonica 1:1.

After some years in Corinth, Timothy is later seen with Paul in Ephesus Acts 19:22. When Paul became a prisoner, it was Timothy who came to support him but was also arrested for short while.    Hebrews 13:23 know that our brother Timothy has been set free with whom I shall see you if he comes shortly.

Timothy’s steps were ordered of the Lord. He would become the fearless indeed!

After Paul’s death in Rome, Timothy became Bishop at Ephesus. It was there he would die a martyrs death in A.D. 97! Already over the age of 80 it was the season , the pagan procession of the goddess Artemis. Timothy seeing the group knew many of them to be members of his church or flock. He encouraged them to stop the pagan worship as he preached them the word.  In their anger, they raised their poles of wood which they had held in effigy, those faces of men or women, they wanted punished, to be dealt with in hate.

Timothy no longer held fear, but was bold as a lion to preach the word to those who were choosing the darkness over light! He died lifting the word of God, and telling them to repent!

Of Artemis: Ephesus was the center of the worship of Artemis or Diana. At one time when he, Paul was there, some of his companions were attacked by a mob. Paul knew the stress and pressure the church was under. But instead of praying the obvious for them, protection for them, he prays for spiritual development and fruit in them. In Ephesians 1:15-19 we read:   “For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and His incomparably great power for us who believe.”

Here Paul desires them to have spiritual development and fruit in them. It is to know God better.

We are told in the book of Acts and chapter 19 that Paul’s ministry to the Ephesians in Ephesus caused many to turn from idols. A spiritual awakening in the city was widespread that it caused a recession among the idol-makers. The silversmiths lead by Demetrius had a meeting among those of the trade. Gathered together, he thought to stir them to anger and cause an action for their trade was in great danger of great loss in finances, so Demetrius was seeking to make a religious covering pretending this great reverence for Artemis or Diana and her temple. But the silversmiths meeting turned into a mob scene in which the whole city was inflamed. With chants to Diana as the great of the Ephesians, a crowd rushed to seize Paul’s traveling companions: Gaius and Aristarchus with the one purpose of killing them. Interesting truth: in Acts 19:32 many did not know why they were there and why they complained. Conflicting voices were heard at every side you could turn.        Paul in his Ephesians prayer was not asking for their protection but for their spiritual growth. Today, I too do not ask for the obvious but I do pray for your spiritual development. That you too would have fruit that spiritual account. Enlightened in the kingdom of God. That you be Enlightened to truth and not wickedness.  Proverbs 14:34 Message Bible: God-devotion makes a country strong; God-avoidance leaves people weak.    Proverbs 14:34   Amp. Bible Uprightness and right standing with God ( moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation ) elevate a nation but sin is a reproach to any people.

In Closing:  Are we as a group of people of a nation that was once under God now under that which masquerades as noble but is evil! Is violence at the door of our mouth?  That idol worship is worshiping something that has nothing to do with the way, the life or truth that Jesus preached and Paul proclaimed.  The words given by Jesus was to proclaim life that would set captives free: seen as the power of God in the heart of every man and woman who would believe on Jesus Christ. And today they build rockets and send them into space to honor the goddess Diana. They worship giant steps of man and never consider the God who created all this!  The way of idol worship is that which is set for man to do that is good in his own eyes. We pray our nation turns back to God!  Those dedicated to pride & changing that which God ordained, you too might see those coming down the sidewalk with poles holding those faces held in effigy because they with ash on their own faces, worshiping in the pagan procession of the goddess Artemis are bold in their own religion and worship. They worship dead things. Those he knew who came to the church, now ash on their faces or masks so the demons might not see their arrogant hate of others, Timothy raises his voice! NO longer held in fear, but was bold as a lion to preach the word to those who were choosing the darkness over light! He died lifting the word of God, and telling them to repent! Will we turn someone toward Jesus? Will we speak while there is time? For whatever time remains for each of us, may it be with a heart for God to speak now!

STRONG

Holy Spirit Power
I had gotten a number of thought processes of some scriptures this past weekend for a blog. And in them all, some were definitely mine and one was for prayer for a family we know, but I kept on reading through Proverbs and other passages. Then I heard this testimony that forever changed a young man’s life early this morning. He was not saved till he was a teenager in the early 1960’s and the couple of who had prayed for him was neighbors and not of his own family. This devout couple prayed for this young man to preach the word as God had called him to do. And today I had seen his going home to be with Jesus. Oh my, how many have passed on to glory with Jesus just in these last months. And many yes, we know have been those about eighty years of age and older. Still, we think of those who are still among the living, and have a new year to encounter. If we truly lead, may we lead others to be strong in this hour and to finish strong by the end! And for this gentleman, he had a great going home adventure. His testimony was that this couple had told him that he would preach God's word. And he said no to that when he had been saved. He continued to tell the woman who told him he was that coming preacher whenever she saw him, but his answer remained the same till one day. It was later in the 1960's when he was going to someone's home but as he got to the shallow creek, the creek had become a river and was swollen even though it was a sunny day. He could not drive his car over the fast moving river. He would not be stopped! He got out of his car, rolled up his pants legs and proceeded to remove his socks and shoes and march across that river. Well, with great faith and patience to move slowly across the rocks in swift water, he reached the bank and started to climb. Then a "voice" was heard: "Are you the preacher I have been praying for?" AND his reply: Yes, I am that preacher!" And he went to preach the word of God!

On his headstone: Strong!

I know people use this word as their focus for their community either from a terror attack like seen in Boston, Massachusetts just a few years ago or those overseas in other nations like Paris, France and abroad. A school uses it for Sandyhook Strong where young children were killed in their school rooms targeted by a person not in their right mind for life. Another like Boston Strong, that represents those who were killed or maimed by the shrapnel that was poised against those who ran marathons. Sad that many innocent always find their end when they are targeted as in this tragedy by the whims of a madman. But our focus is finishing STRONG! People use this slogan to enforce their community and it is good. Still we are to be strong every day, every hour whether day or night, peace or tribulation, we are to be strong in the Lord!

Ephesians 6:10-18 NKJV  10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

WE put on the divine nature of God to stand against the enemy who can and will use others to terrorize.

Ephesians 6:14 Stand, therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints---19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly as I ought to speak.

NOT Against Flesh and Blood: To discern between the spiritual struggle and culture with the social, the personal and political difficulties: Romans 8:37-39 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created things hall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The DEFENSIVE is the Armor: Ephesians 6:14 Stand, therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

But the DEFENSIVE is :Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints---19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly as I ought to speak.

The sword of the Spirit which is the word of God: Hosea 6:5-6 NKJV Therefore I have hewn them by the prophets, I have slain them by the words of My mouth; and your judgments are like  light that goes forth. 6 For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

God had sent His prophets to shape the nations but by rejecting them, the people called upon themselves the penalty that now must follow. God desires our relationship with Him more than He desires our service for Him.       Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit and of joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

From 4:12 powerful, energes ( en—er---gace) Strong’s #1756 energetic,..it is the opposite of “ineffective”

Spiritual Warfare is Victorious Based on the Provision of the Cross and Christ’s Blood: Colossians 2:13-15 and you being dead in your trespasses and the un-circumcision  of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers. He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

Grounds of Authority: Jesus triumphed over sin: Ephesians 2:13-16 NKJV 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 16 and that he might reconcile them both to God in one body through the Cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.

Galatians 3:13-14 NKJV 13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.”) 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

2 Corinthians 5:14-17 NKJV Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” 17 Therefore “Come out from among them and be separate says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.”

Revelation 12:10-11 NKJV Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength and the kingdom of our God and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of the brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.” 11 “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”

Entering Conflict: Know what side you are on! Right now, our faith is to be unwavering, the result of an abiding relationship in Christ Jesus.

Faith’s confession: Matthew 5:3 blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

The beatitudes belong to those only of the kingdom of God: fulfilled in prophecy in Luke 4:16-21 was first given in Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.

Jesus on the cross, giving up His body and by shedding His blood completely satisfied God’s requirement: Hebrews 10:12-14 NKJV But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. 14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are going sanctified.

Opened up the gates of Heaven for anyone that would believe in Him John 3:16: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

In HIM, we have the benefit of life eternal.  1 John 5:10-12 NKJV 10 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. 11 And this is the testimony; that God has given us eternal life, & this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Romans 2:6-11 Amp. Bible 6 for He will render to every man according to his works [justly, as his deeds deserve]. 7 To those who by patient persistence in well-doing [spring from piety] seek [unseen but sure] glory and honor and [the disobedient to the Truth  but responsive to wickedness, there will be indignation and wrath. 9 [And] there will be tribulation & anguish & calamity & constraint for every soul of man who [habitually] does  evil, the Jew first & also the [Gentile]. 11 For God shows no partiality [undue favor or unfairness; with Him one man is not different from another. Our answer is in Jesus from Matthew 11:29-30 He said “take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle &lowly in heart….you will find rest for your soul. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

The Holy Spirit Prepares Us for Kingdom Victories Today: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints---

This is any prayer directed by, energized by and sustained by the Holy Spirit. It is prayer prayed in the Spirit. It falls in the category of being in the Spirit, speaking by the Spirit of God and singing in the Spirit.  Praying in the Spirit: according to God’s will which is His word: 1 John 5:14-15 NKJV Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

It will glorify the Father through His Son: John 14:13 and whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Always based on God’s character, Gods, ways and His Word: John 15:7 NKJV If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire and it shall be done for you.

Will always come from a clean heart: James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Prayed in full assurance of Faith: James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord.

Asked in Jesus’ name: John 14:14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

Whatever our focus at this moment whether to what may occur in the year ahead, the loss of a loved one, or what health crisis that might appear, but direct our focus really at this moment is to be on Jesus our Lord and Savior and remember He sent the Holy Spirit to us: not for a dress code, not for arranging big hair or flat hair, not for the weight or a specific height of a person, not about that certain leader of a business or ministry, but about Jesus. And Jesus said he was sending us His Holy Spirit for purpose. The Holy Spirit for power in our lives!

John 14: 16 And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Helper, that he may abide with you forever.

That means the Holy Spirit will do what Jesus did when He is absent from the scene with the disciples. It is continuity of what Jesus did and taught!

You could speak to any number of people in any nation right now and find them grieving over the loss of a leader of their country, a loved one passed on, they lost their job over a virus or they feel like the world has gone off its course! But these all have the Holy Spirit available if they are the saved ones who called on Jesus with a repentant heart.

Let’s choose the present and forget the past! That is a hard one but we can do it! That listening to the lies of the enemy instead of resisting them by the Holy Spirit will only bring us into more grief and worry from what occurred in 2020. We push back by inviting the power of the Holy Spirit to cleanse our mind with Christ’s thoughts. We have been given authority: we command in Jesus’ name that all lying spirits have to leave our minds. We will not adulterate our souls to live in confusion…we will live in clarity…We will not be tormented with impure, evil, negative or sinful thoughts but transformed by the renewing of our minds. We prove what is that good, acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2)    WE are Enabled “be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10) ….

WE are not to be anxious for nothing;  but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, we let our requests be made known to God, and His peace, which surpasses all understanding, guards our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7) and finally, whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of a good report, having virtue or anything praise worthy, we think on these things. (Philippians 4:8)

So should you and I live in a country or region where the culture throws an agenda of discord against the righteous, or there is one who initiates an attack with fear mongering concerning the welfare of your body, your family or community, or when someone throws you under a bus to save their own flesh, what will come out of your mouth should be a heart that is filled with God’s word. Life & death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21

The LORD is the “good” to those who find and take refuge in Him. Sickness is not of God but of the devil who came to steal, kill & destroy. The adversary is the unrepentant, who chooses to kill by spilling blood, by destroying one’s  health, determining our outcome. BUT We are not the cursed, but the blessed of God! We confess: we are the redeemed of the Lord, that He is our light /our salvation, whom shall we fear, He is the STRENGTH of our life of whom shall we be afraid?   Whatever the obstacle, God delivers to set us free for good. And this will be for His glory and to His praise. We are God STRONG! WE are set as warriors with our armor in place and the Holy Spirit guiding us through paths that are narrow and sometimes bumpy, the path we walk has many sounds like munitions firing, but peace holds us, we take not a glance to the right nor to the left, we keep our gaze on the beauty of the Lord WHO spoke “It is Finished.”

He took it all so we could finish strong! He took our sin so that we could be with Him forever. For you and I, we run this race, through the smoke of the enemy, and through the close sounds of whizzing arrows, but we run, for God set the course for us. He set that standard of the Gospel to build us up in Christ Jesus with the same actions and motives that have eternal value. For eternal life started long ago when we accepted Christ as Savior and Lord.

Jesus’ walk was to a Cross on Calvary. Many things have occurred we did not see coming and we in that sense feel like we have been badly wounded or even destroyed by the hateful intent of others. But we remain alert. John 16:13 However when He the Spirit of truth has come, he will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears he will speak; and he will tell you things to come. We are Holy Spirit enabled.

We are to remember that we are the righteous and as such will suffer persecution and face trouble of those against God and His plan but we will also be vindicated by God Himself.  WE are strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. WE are strong to stand against the wiles of the devil. We are strong because we have taken up the whole armor of God, that you and I may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand……yes, strong…in the power of His might! Amen.

THIS HEART IS NOT FOR SALE!

Heard this song by Michael Combs, "Not for Sale". What a song, what an anointing, and how it so ministered to me that I cried! I highly recommend this to all. Take a moment to listen and see if this does not minister to your whole being. As I listened, I thought on the words he sang, and how each area of the church was listed. What happened to that preacher who could preach so strongly about the Lord? What happened to the those who sang as of a heavenly choir? What happened to that one singer, well they went country!
He even sings about someone calling from California to give him a proposition for making lots of money and he told them, "NO"! Not for sale!
I thought how easy it is for some to "sale out" for the something of the world. My sister and brother-in-law told me to view this song on Youtube. And I am truly thankful this morning to have heard this beautiful singer singing praise to magnify God.

How do we know if we have sold out for the world? Good question and one that we can look at in the word of God!

Acts 8:4-25...............4 Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. 5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. 6 And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. 7 For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. 8 And there was great joy in that city.

9 But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great, 10 to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, "This man is the great power of God." 11 And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time. 12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized. 13 Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done.

14 Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, 15 who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16 For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. 18 And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, 19 saying, "Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit." 20 But Peter said to him, "Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money! 21 You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God. 22 Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. 23 For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity." 24 Then Simon answered and said, "Pray to the Lord for me, that none of the things which you have spoken may come upon me." 25 So when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans. NKJV

Even Simon walked with Philip and saw those amazing things, those miracles and signs yet he thought that he could buy his way. Have we not seen that in "the church" as well? Have we seen someone desire to buy his way through, and get the thing he wants? Simon was told by Philip to repent for wickedness and pray. But even in verse 24, Simon wanted Philip to pray for him.
Simon liked being regarded as someone sent by God, yet he only used sorceries. He had hoodwinked a lot of people, from the least to the greatest in that place of Samaria.
It is what the heart desires, and what does our heart desire the most?
It takes more than a conversion, it takes a walk with God on a daily basis to learn of HIM and of His ways and truth!

1 Kings 8:56-61.....56 "Blessed be the LORD, who has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He promised. There has not failed one word of all His good promise, which He promised through His servant Moses. 57 May the LORD our God be with us, as He was with our fathers. May He not leave us nor forsake us, 58 that He may incline our hearts to Himself, to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, which He commanded our fathers. 59 And may these words of mine, with which I have made supplication before the LORD, be near the LORD our God day and night, that He may maintain the cause of His servant and the cause of His people Israel, as each day may require, 60 that all the peoples of the earth may know that the LORD is God; there is no other. 61 Let your heart therefore be loyal to the LORD our God, to walk in His statutes and keep His commandments, as at this day." NKJV

When Solomon blessed Israel, he prayed the blessing, a confession that their hearts would be loyal to the LORD our God. To walk in His statutes, and keep His commandments.

Luke 4:1-13.......4:1 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry. 3 And the devil said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread." 4 But Jesus answered him, saying, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.' " 5 Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, "All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours." 8 And Jesus answered and said to him, "Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.' " 9 Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. 10 For it is written:

'He shall give His angels charge over You,
To keep You,'

11 "and,

'In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.' "

12 And Jesus answered and said to him, "It has been said, 'You shall not tempt the LORD your God.' " 13 Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.
NKJV

No opportune time came as Jesus never sold out to the devil!

I think of Jesus and all the He gave of His life to hang on that rugged Cross. He was tortured and brutalized by man in the most horrific manner and He went to the cross, knowing the price that had to be paid to be the LAMB OF GOD for me and for you.
Now that was loyalty to His Father God. Now that is what a heart after God looks like.

What have we sacrificed today? What have we given up to serve the Father more effectively in our own lives?
We are to be like Jesus in every way! Is my life lining up in that manner today or do I need to make some corrections  here? As for me, I have some corrections to make today. My heart is not for sale at any price. Today my focus is to give love to my God and worship Him in spirit and in truth!

Father, today we seek to have our hearts as one with YOU! In Jesus' name we pray to take hold and not let go of Your truth. We see the total work of Jesus on the Cross. We may not understand everything He did there, but we know our future with You depends on a willing and faithful heart forever. For change to take place in us, we know we must be willing to let go of the world and anything that has a place in our hearts.
Father we know that You lead with love and purpose in mind. Today we pray for help in how to let go of stuff. We pray to be those who will receive correction and move forward in total commitment to YOU and YOUR plan for our lives.

Thank YOU for Jesus, and for showing us the path to walk. Today we desire to be those whose hearts that are "not for sale" ever. Thank YOU for hearing and we believe we receive YOUR help today. Amen.
