A Judge for in the Time of Turmoil


 Do we weed out those negative pictures of ourselves, you know the ones that seem to add fat to the face, or to the waist, or those that appear to make the nose look the Rock of Gibraltar? Or how about those pics that make you look like someone you never met before? You know, you have to ask who is the woman in the center of the picture and it turns out to be you! We would feel comfortable with that which at least looks like us and not some creature thing from a swamp, right?

No one wants to be cast into a negative light of any kind! Yet, we find the people of Israel in a negative place. And that light of negativity was due to rampant sin!

The people had been drifting away spiritually coming to a place of experiencing God’s judgment. AND this is well seen when other nations come to dominate their potential existence in that place. In the book of Judges you can see Gideon who is down in a wine vat threshing out wheat for his family. Yes, those who ravaged the land came to take whatever crops had been harvested, and Gideon and his tribe hid that wheat in the grape vat. Yikes! ( makes you wonder where they put the grapes, right?)

Waking up to the things of God in hearing Him and obeying takes a repentant heart! It is choosing to do right according to God and not to man’s idea of being right! A leader raised up in this time was Deborah. She stands out in spiritual leadership as well as in her civil leadership.

READING Judges 4:4-10 NKJV 4 Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, was judging Israel at that time. 5 And she would sit under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the mountains of Ephraim. And the children of Israel came up to her for judgment. 6 Then she sent and called for Barak the son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali, and said to him, “Has not the LORD God of Israel commanded, ‘Go and deploy troops at mount Tabor; take with you ten thousand men of the sons of Naphtali and of the sons of Zebulun; 7 ‘and against you I will deploy Sisera, the commander of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his multitude at the River Kishon; and I will deliver him into your hand?” 8 And Barak said to her: “If you will go with me, then I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go!” 9 So she said, “I will surely go with you; nevertheless there will be no glory for you in the journey you are taking, for the LORD will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman.” Then Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh. 10 And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; he went up with ten thousand men under his command, and Deborah went up with him.

Deborah was the available and the wise: A. Service as a Judge: Judges 4: 4. And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time. 5 And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment. 

The military prowess of his rule was an enemy that would be significant in dealing with according to a military action.

In Judges 4:3 And the children of Israel cried out to the LORD; for Jabin had nine hundred chariots of iron, and for twenty years he had harshly oppressed the children of Israel. To defeat this Jabin and those with him would take something that could override the normal seen in war. His relentless attitude toward God’s people was such an oppression that they thought it would never end.

Deborah's coming to the position as a judge in Israel came about as seen in Judges 4:1 when the death of Ehud  appeared. The people were back once again in sin. And sin brings with its oppression multiplied by the consequences of that “sin”.

Deborah: remarkable! She was a prophetess, a wife and a judge. She was married, known as a leader and a woman of faith. She was also known as a poet. “She was a mother in Israel.”

a.       Her husband was Lappidoth (Judges 4:4) although nothing is known of her husband, we are told his name and she was his wife.

b.       She loved God, and she obeyed

c.       She was a remarkable witness due to the time period she lived. The book of Judges was a time for Israel that was characterized by idolatry, defeat and disobedience

d.       Deborah became Judge at the time of when Jabin was king of Canaan (he oppressed the Israelites for 20 years.

e.       As a Judge, she was a discerner and declaration to the mind of God. She ministered in His wisdom, knowledge and instruction.

f.       Remarkable wisdom: gained through her humble path of service. She was not the aggressive or assertive. She was appointed by God!

g.       She was submissive to her husband and to those in leadership.

h.       Deborah: waited on God, always encouraged others to lead and assisted when needed. And when they refused, she went into battle with them!

Deborah’s position was the title “Judge”. It is bringing into right relationship which also meant having that spiritual dimension. Her civil tasks that she would function in was in administration, to the settlement of disputes or like issues and then to military leadership. We know that she was called a prophetess and this would certainly distinguish her from other judges. No others were given this designation as she had.

We know that her responsibilities were set in the cities of Raman and Bethel. These being few miles from Jerusalem, we are also told that she held court under a Palm Tree.  ( I often wonder if she was ever bitten by the spiders that make their homes there)

Deborah as the Messenger is given by the LORD direction to give to Barak. From verses 6-7: 6  NKJV 6 Then she sent and called for Barak the son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali, and said to him, “Has not the LORD God of Israel commanded, ‘Go and deploy troops at Mount Tabor; take with you ten thousand men of the sons of Naphtali and of the sons of Zebulun; 7 ‘and against you I will deploy Sisera, the commander of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his multitude at the River Kishon; and I will deliver him into your hand?”

The instructions of the LORD are important and one with the hearing and obeying heart will heed them! So the LORD could speak through the mouth of the prophetess. Connection is made between Barak and the Judge Deborah. Upon his arrival, Barak notices the specifics of Deborah's message for him. There are no generalities which could lead to insecurity or to the wrong actions for she had laid out God's plan for him. Victory is guaranteed. Barak simply needed to apply himself to the instruction and fulfill it. The instruction was as he was directed toward Mount Tabor, a stronghold that would be of great advantage in that location for a military meeting!

The instructions further state the size of the military force and from which tribes they are to come. Since the regions being oppressed are Naphtali and Zebulun, it's only logical they should be the ones to participate in the deliverance. BUT to gather such a great size of men to make this force work, Barak had to know those he could mobilize for the occupation in that region. And the PROMISE: “ I will deliver him into your hand!”

Deborah gave the specific plan of the Lord. Sisera would be lured into a situation which would bring about his defeat. In order to attack Barak's forces, the enemy chariots would need to cross the plain through which the River Kishon flowed. In the original language of these scriptures, the word for river literally means "torrent bed." The Kishon would flow when flash flooding took place. The Lord always clearly gives His instruction so that they are not misunderstood. No, God was doing this mighty work, and Sisera would fall into Israel’s hands.

Have you ever been given a word and then wondered how it could come to pass? Is it possible for God to pull off such a ploy here to bring victory to Israel? Is God even in our plan of hearing the next step into this day and hour? Crazy things are going on in the world and you and I both require to hear Him so that He directs our way into His light, truth and peace!

Sometimes, when things we pray for do not turn out like we thought they should have been :Luke 22: 42….take this cup from me; nevertheless  Not my will but Yours be done.  Help me discern Your will for my life. If I live in the flesh, I cannot please God. (Romans 8:8) Father, I pray my eyes are opened to Your truth about this which was planned but did not come to pass. I thank You for revelation from You that gives me insight that I do not have but am asking about this planned event. I understand that the kingdom of God cannot be understood without revelation from God, so I call to You and You will answer and show me great and mighty things which I do not know. (Jeremiah 33:3) I know You will reveal that which concerns me.

LORD, I submit to James 4:7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Lord, I will not live by lies but only truth of Your word that is revealed through me. I submit my work, this tribulation and the outcome to You today & ask YOU to infuse it with Your life, Your power & productivity. I ask YOU for a super flow of Your Spirit through me in this specific day that will enable me to be more creative in the process. I ask You what YOU desire me to do so that good fruit is produced in my life.

 In the submission to God’s plan:  Deborah goes with Barak to the battle…..Judges 4:10-24  NKJV  10  And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh;  he went up with ten thousand men under his command: and Deborah went up with him.

11  Now Heber the Kenite, of the children of Hobab the father in law of Moses, had separated himself from the Kenites, and pitched his tent near the terebinth tree at Zaanaim, which is by Kedesh. 12 And they reported Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam was gone up to mount Tabor. 13 So Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people wo were with him, from Harosheth Hagoyim to the River Kishon. 14 Then Deborah said to Bark, “Up!  For this is the day in which the LORD has delivered Sisera into your hand. Has not the LORD gone before you?” So Bark went down from Mount Tabor with ten thousand men following him.

15  And the Lord routed Sisera, and all his chariots, and all of his army with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera alighted off his chariot, and fled away on foot. 16  But Barak pursued the chariots, and the army as far as Harosheth Hagoyim: and all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; not a man was left. 17 However, Sisera had fled away on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite; for there was peace between Jabin king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite. 18 And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said to him, “Turn aside, my lord, turn aside to me; do not fear.” And when he had turned aside with her into the ten, she covered him with a blanket. (rug)

19 Then he said to her, “Please give me a little water to drink for I am thirsty.” So she opened a jug of milk, gave him a drink and covered him. 20 And he said to her, “Stand at the door of the tent, and if any man comes and inquires of you and says, “Is there any man here?” you shall say, ‘NO’.”

21 Then Jael, Heber’s wife, took a tent peg and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple and it went down into the ground; for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died. 22 And then, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him and said to him, “Come, I will show you the man whom you seek.” And when he went into her tent, there lay Sisera, dead with the peg in his temple. 23 So on that day God subdued Jabin king of Canaan in the presence of the children of Israel. 24 And the hand of the children of Israel grew stronger and stronger against Jabin king of Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.

Indicating he would go with the plan, he did not hesitate to say that he did not want to go alone in this matter. If she did not go, he would not go either! She did not lambaste him, but he agreed. She pointed to the truth that there would be no personal honor for him in this victory. He could lead, gather the forces into battle, but he would have no acclaim to Sisera’s death.

The timing was perfect. Sisera moved his forces toward the mountain and to the River Kishon. God had given the prophetess the instruction and she gave the signal to begin. Barak led his men down the mountain. When God is allowed in our circumstances, the enemy will be scattered. He causes them to become confused to fight among themselves. The very point this was sent at the River Kishon proved to be a muddy situation in the relentless pursuit. Not one of Sisera’s men stayed alive. Sisera leaves the battle, runs away from the pursuers to find a way out.

Sisera so confused, finds the wrong place to rest. Coming into the tent of Jael the wife of Heber, she shows him safety and that place to rest. Alas his downfall has come. He receives the covering of the rug and drinks the milk only to fall asleep to his own doom.

And the ending: well, Jael receives the honor! She overcame the enemy. And Judges 5 displays a praise sang by Deborah, the Judge in Israel and Barak: Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying, 2 When leaders lead in Israel, when the people willingly offer themselves, Bless the LORD! 3 Hear, O  kings!  Give ear, O princes!:  I, even I, will sing to the Lord; I will sing praise to the Lord God of Israel.  4 Lord, when You went out from Seir, when You marched from the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens poured, the clouds also poured water; 5 The mountains gushed before the Lord, This Sinai, from before the Lord God of Israel. 6 In the days of Shamgar, son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were deserted, and the travelers walked along the byways. 7 Village life ceased. It ceased in Israel, until I, Deborah arose, arose a mother in Israel.

Deborah, the Judge in Israel, found her feet on the battlefield. A leader called by God to see victory come and not to a man! Praise came! The Lord had avenged Israel and the oppression and bondage was removed. Those willing and obedient will eat the good of the land. It is the Prophetess that describes the Lord’s presence in the battle marching from Mount Seir in Edom bringing a rainstorm, a super storm having all kinds of elements to stop an oppressive leader, would be sung about as God intervened so decisively in the lives of His people.

Participate by Faith in the Risen Savior


 We are to participate by faith in the risen Savior.  Those who desire to speak lies reject Jesus.....they are   mixing truth with their own motives or hidden agendas…

Romans 6:16-20 ……..16 Greet one another with a holy kiss. The churches of Christ greet you. 17 Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions & offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, & avoid them. 18 For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple. 19 For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, & simple concerning evil. ( evil speaking going on )20 And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.  NKJV

 Matthew 5:6,10…. …6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

For they shall be filled. Matthew 5:10…. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. NKJV     

Being faithful is choosing to fix our mind on “spiritual things”…and looks like that which reveals God and His ways.    Choosing to be fixed on God’s spiritual, we keep it in our speaking………knowing right from wrong..

 

Our Righteousness is then  maintained by the Holy Spirit…… Romans 8:1—6….8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.... ( not according to our own thoughts, ideas or inclinations)  5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  NKJV  that flesh is for me, myself and I) elevating ourselves, protecting ourselves, making our boast in Me! They wander through the night without sleep trying to order their lives…aright……..but without God….in it…

 

Those with a “seared conscious” : Give heed to deceiving spirits and doctrine of demons.

Listen to hypocrisy: or you might say that they will listen to those hypocritical liars. They are self-righteous, they exhibit the smooth, insincere, two-faced relationship with others. They are subtle like a sneaky snake.   From this attitude in verse 3: they will forbid others to marry, command others to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving… from 1 Timothy 4:

 

Searing: the example is ungodly thoughts with Words and actions that match. THEY are those who will not look to the Bible as the Authority:  1 Corinthians 4:1-5…..4:1 Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.   2 Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful. 3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by a human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. 4 For I know nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but He who judges me is the Lord. 5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one's praise will come from God.  NKJV  (are we being faithful stewards and speaking with the clear conscience? )

                                                                                                    

Paul says that his conscience does not accuse him. He gives the Message of God….& he knows that he holds God’s thoughts & purposes in his heart. He follows Jesus as a disciple & is obedient to exercise his faith in Jesus.   (So  FROM 1 Timothy 4:2…we find a conscience that is not sensitive to the Holy Spirit. We find a conscience not able to distinguish between right and wrong. Mixing their own agendas and inclinations with God’s truth….which can shipwreck other people’s faith in God. ) 1 Timothy 1:18-20  This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, 19 having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck, 20 of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered to satan that they may learn not to blaspheme.

 

A Person is seared or defiled when:

1.   From 1 Timothy 1:18-20…They receive spiritual lies: it is demonic teaching or the false doctrine. Like Hymenaues (High-muh-nee uhs_ and Alexander..

2.   They teach that a Christian can continue to commit sin and still inherit eternal life.”

3.   They taught that the body was not central or essential to the part of human nature, therefore the teaching denied a resurrection of the body of man or woman

4.   Known as those who jealously reserve the option to ignore law, they act upon their own impulses & own passing lusts. THEIR  standards  are transitory! They seek that which suits them,& are subject to change at any moment to suit the occasion. In the churches, new or established, the self-worshipers will often dismiss God's laws by claiming that they personally have "spiritual guidance" & have no need of law. Sometimes they use a misinterpretation of 1 John 2:27 to excuse their lawlessness. 1 John 2:27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, & you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things & as that anointing is real, not counterfeit-just as it has taught you, remain in him. NIV

5.   Is seen as on who indulges….in the day of discovery, man has freed himself of God. He readily unplugs his conscience & can do whatever his own heart desires while answering to no one else. He is the supreme god. He can change the rules if he wants. He can partake of the forbidden fruit in that which brings them to that speaking: “I’m okay, Your okay!”

6.   Then man finds himself in the Garden of Eden again….Gen 3:3-6……" 4 Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." NKJV

7.   The demonic teaching set forth by satan is that which attempts to displace God’s truth: like with High-muh-nee-uhs & Alexander.

8.   Paul warns Timothy, as a leader for the second generation of Christians In 2 Timothy 1:13-14…., “Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit that dwells in us.                                                                                              

                                                                         

 2 Peter 2:14-20…14. They have a heart trained in covetous…… ...........(NT:4124…KJV…pleonexia (pleh-on-ex-ee'-ah); from NT:4123; avarice, i.e. (by implication) is fraudulent, produces  extortion:  A heart greed and practices greed…  covetous (-ness) practices, greediness. Extorting by badgering, biting, shakedown, a demand, pressuring one, or putting the squeeze on one )................ practices, and are accursed children. 15 They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 16 but he was rebuked for his iniquity: a dumb donkey speaking with a man's voice restrained the madness..........  ( is NT:3913…paraphronia (par-af-ron-ee'-ah); from NT:3912; insanity, i.e. foolhardiness:KJV - madness.

of the prophet. 17 These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever. 18 For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. 19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. 20 For if, after they have escaped the pollution's of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.  NKJV  

 

The CONSEQUENCE of the UNFORGIVEN SIN: Is God will not hear: Psalm 66:18-19…18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear.  19 But certainly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer.  NKJV

1 John 5:14…14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.   NKJV Knowing Him and knowing His word…..pot is not His word…nor is any kind of drug use

They will NOT ABIDE IN CHRIST AND BEAR FRUIT:   John 15:4-5…………..4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.  I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. NKJV

They bear fruit that is of a false nature. They are mouthpieces for evil spirits. They have a mask of holiness but carry falsehood everywhere they go. They no longer know the difference between right and wrong. Lying to them is not wrong!                                                                                                                                                                                                        

EVIDENCE THEY carry is that they DO Not Love CHRIST JESUS:   John 14:21-22….. 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and……… manifest Myself to him."   NKJV   .......1 John 4:7-10  NIV…. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one & only Son into the world that we might live through him.

 

They CANNOT & WILL NOT Expect to Learn all Things Proverbs 1:5 A wise man will hear & increase in learning. And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel.

 John 14:25-26…NKJV  26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. 

2 John 9-11…NKJV,,9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; 11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.  

See how serious this is…..we are not to remain with those seared against God and His Word…..


Will not Remain in CHRIST’S LOVE:  John 15:9-11…………9 "As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.   NKJV   ( they will not remain in joy or in God’s peace….they work, they cannot rest at night, but stay up….working, planning and fail miserably …)

 

They REMAIN in CARNALITY….Living in Death:  Romans 8:6-7….6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.   NKJV   Remember: Hymaneus and Alexander…


God is not chaos .. Holy Spirit hovering over the face of the deep..He was bringing order quickly.                                                                                                                 

Expressing NO LOVE FOR OTHERS….they Will not and cannot love others as God does not abide in them…1 John 4:12 -13    12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. 13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.  NKJV…….. example: they will find a reason not to bless another in the same leadership as themselves….

 Hebrews 3:5-6……5 And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward, 6 but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.  NKJV   Sons of God                                                         

 Hosea 4:1-3…….Hear the word of the LORD, you Israelites, because the LORD has a charge to bring against you who live in the land: "There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land.  2 There is only cursing, lying and murder, stealing and adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed. NIV   (As a child ….we grow up in the Lord, as the Son we know the Father and act as His Son….Jesus did! We just read it in Hebrews 3:5-6)                                                                                                                  


Ephesians 5:11 says to have NO fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness.

Ephesians 5:8b-14…8b..Live as children of light  9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness & truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, 14 for it is light that makes everything visible. NIV

 

EXPOSE these unfruitful works of darkness! THE Unfruitful is the barren; without any fruit that is acceptable to God. And it bears the boast in man and not God! 

1 John 1:3…The Holy Spirit said, “That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His son Jesus Christ”

That which was revealed by the apostles is necessary to have fellowship with them and with the Father and His Son Jesus Christ.  

 THE MESSAGE…. that “God is light, and in him is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5). Since “darkness” is in definite contrast with “light,” and since God is “light” and in Him is no darkness at all, whatever “darkness” is, it is completely contrary and oppressive to the nature and essence of God. God is truth, and in Him is no lie. In Him is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5).  WE must walk in the light as He is in the light to have fellowship with him.

We are to be accountable that our walk is in the Light of God. Our boast is to be in Him! He provided a way through salvation in Him. Our conscience is to carry that knowing right from wrong. It is gained through knowing God and His Word. It is our righteousness that is maintained by the Holy Spirit and in His presence is the fullness of joy. We never change His word to accommodate the flesh creature! Amen.

Taking a Stand Against Vain Imaginings


 The person who truly loves Christ is the one who’s going to stand up for Christ no matter if they lose friends, family, or if the world hates them. It will not matter to them about that group who goes around to cancel others for Christ is in the heart of the believer who has their heart set on His plan and not the world’s plan. The person who truly loves Christ will expose the deeds of darkness!  

Ephesians 5:8-14   NKJV ……8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as His children of light. 9 ( for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 14 Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”

This is Paul’s term for a believer’s and unbeliever’s conduct! The faithful believers do more than abstain from evil; they denounce the deeds of darkness as the unfruitful, shameful and not worthwhile.

  Psalm 94:16  Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand for me against those who practice iniquity?    It is the Lord who sustains the righteous in their battle with the wicked.

 John 7:24  Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. This refers to social injustice!

 

God cast out the “vain” from heaven: His name was satan or you might know him as Lucifer! ….. Luke 10:18-20   And He said to them, "I saw satan fall like lightning from Heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you." 20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.

Yes, Lucifer fell out of heaven and it was a display of that which revolted against God the Creator! Jesus came to gain back authority that was taken in the Garden of Eden. It included Adam’s authority to subdue and have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living that moves on the earth.

Vain imaginations is of the devil and the human thought of the “Me” syndrome! But God made us in His image to be of His likeness and to be morally right before Him. That we would know we are those with intelligence, perception, and self-determination to far exceed any other living creature on the face of the earth!  We are spiritual who not only has a body, but soul and spirit. God desires us to come higher to His ways and thoughts of being. And not to be animalistic in behavior seeking only fleshly gratification.

Romans 1:20-25……KJV….20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23 And changed the glory of the un-corruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.

¶ 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves:

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

 

Yes, like from these verses, man will seek to gratify himself with things like those who came out of Egypt who sought to have the priest Aaron to make for them a golden calve, yet a calve had not delivered them out of the clutches of Pharaoh! While Moses is up on the mount with God, these decide to do something different from God!

The Israelites had the example of this from Pharaoh of a man who had the hardened heart. And the more plagues presented to him, the more he responded in hate and hardness! Exodus 5:2…2 Pharaoh said, "Who is the LORD, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD and I will not let Israel go." NIV

Those who know not God, who do not have that relationship with Him, will do things that dictate that they have no God before them. Pharaoh might have been a leader but his rule over the land was for the worthless idols he sought!

Even within his fortified city of which he called home, was also home to a great garrison of soldiers and charioteers. Even their horses were the Arabian, that was bred for endurance in harsh dry climates like the Egyptian desert! But even in all the wealth seen in this great fortress, from the wines to special desserts, and fabulous dressing gowns, diseases were rampant and many people died. No incantations could be done……..there was no cure!

Was it their idolatry…………..a plague of their heart? The people harassed by this tyrant seen in Pharaoh called out to God. And when prayer was made, a man was sent; Moses was his name.

It was in times of a national calamity as: in drought, locusts or caterpillar, mildew or in pestilence (disease) supplications were presented. And God answered in regard to the grief of an individual , when every man would know the plague of his own heart. Plague is more than heart pain, grief or worry. Plague is a disease caused by sin.

 ONLY what is of God is truth. So any other mere words are men’s Words.

John 8:42-47….KJV………….42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

43 Why do ye not understand my speech? Even because ye cannot hear my word.

44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

46 Which of you convinces me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?

47 He that is of God hears God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

 

Jesus was not soft. He told these men they were of their father the devil.. If we stop  defending Christianity, that is exposing evil, rebuking those false teachers, and confronting believers, we will have more people lost and led astray than those who are the saved!

Vain imagining can be stopped when there are the times of praise, exalting God in His wonders: Nehemiah 9:10 You showed signs and wonders against Pharaoh, against all his servants, and against all the people of his land. For You knew they acted proudly against them. So You made a name for Yourself, as it is this day. This was corporate prayer that was prayed by an  entire nation that gathered to confess sin & receive God’s forgiveness and restoration. But they remembered what God did…through Moses..

In Daniel 3:19-25 ….men bound in their coats, trousers, turbans & other  garments were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace….three men of prayer, worshippers of God went in the fire…from…verse 21….and in verse 25 four men are seen…. 25 “Look ! he answered I see four men loose walking in the midst of the fire; & they are  not hurt, & the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”

God assisting His own in Signs and Wonders and what a life that is indeed!

 

God’s word is our lens to seeing correctly. So blurred vision can come when we are superficial with prayer and to not knowing the Word of God! God is relational & through these written words about signs and wonders what is revealed is the signs & wonders in those who obeyed HIM!

Where is the flow of the Spirit?....Human nature says: look at my body, I need food, feed me, my muscles feel weak ..The spiritual man speaks 1 Corinthians 2:13…NKJV…13 these things we speak not in words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches,  comparing spiritual things with spiritual.                                                                                                                

Our prayer life is comprised of knowing His written word; to live by it ………so that John 17:3 And this is eternal life:[ it means] to know ( to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the]Christ ( the anointed One, the Messiah, Whom You have sent … and .is revealed in and through our lives.

 

We are to be understanding our Father always. We are to exalt Him in His truth and faithfulness. We exalt Him in His greatness and authority. And then in those quiet, secret place times with HIM,  we cast down those thoughts that are contrary to God's heart and Spirit.  Many people say they love God, but is it equally true that they hate evil? Truly loving God is demonstrated in and by our character when we will not tolerate evil in our own hearts.

Honor the Lord: Highly esteem Him and make His Name distinct in Your speaking.  We stop speaking about us, and speak  about Him! WE Humble ourselves under His mighty Hand. As we are yielded to the Holy Spirit, planting His Word within us, we will have eyes to recognize evil. Many times it comes in a form that is pleasant or seems acceptable. Some evil is obvious, while other times it does take Holy Spirit discernment to see it. God will help you as you lean into Him. Let His praise continually be in your mouth and have a joyful, peaceful and glorious day with God!

Matthew 10:32-34….Amplified Bible…32 Therefore, everyone who acknowledges Me before men and confesses Me [out of a state of oneness with Me], I will also acknowledge him before My Father in heaven and confess [ that I am abiding in] Him. 33 But whoever denies and disowns Me before men, I also will deny and disown.

We should be about conversation and Jesus should be in it! Other than that you are only giving people “you”! In our daily routine of life, we are to be speaking of the Lord, the oneness we have with Him. Just because there are rebel rousers, we are to be still speaking God’s peace in His truth for life.

 

1 Corinthians 2:12-16 Amplified Bible………12. Now we have not received the spirit [that belongs to ] the world but the Holy Spirit Who is from God, [given to us] that we might realize and comprehend and appreciate the gifts [of divine favor and blessing so freely and lavishly] bestowed on us by God. 13 And we are setting these truths forth in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Holy Spirit, combining and interpreting spiritual truths with spiritual language [to those who possess the Holy Spirit]. 14 But the natural, non-spiritual man does not welcome or admit into his heart the gifts and teachings and revelations of the Spirit of God, for they are folly ( meaningless nonsense) to him; and he is incapable of knowing them [of progressively recognizing, understanding, and becoming better acquainted with them] because they are spiritually discerned and estimated and appreciated. 15 But the spiritual man tries all things [he examines, investigates, inquires into, questions and discerns all things], yet is himself to be put on trial and judged by no one [he can read the meaning of everything, but no one can properly discern or appraise or get an insight into him]. 16 For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts ( feelings and purposes ) of His heart.  (Isaiah 40:11)

Spirit always answers to spirit. We are spirit beings, and we have a body and soul! So of the three spiritual categories you have what is the natural man, unregenerate and devoid of the spirit who has no appreciation for the Gospel. Another is the spiritual man, regenerated and possessing spiritual maturity and are seen as those free from sectarian strife! 

Titus 3:4-11  Amplified Bible 4 But when the goodness and loving-kindness of God our Savior to man [as man] appeared, 5 He saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but because of His own pity and mercy, by [the] cleansing bath of the new birth (regeneration) and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 Which He poured out [so] richly upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. 7 [And he did it in order] that we might be justified by His grace (by His favor, wholly undeserved), [ that we might be acknowledged and counted as conformed to the divine will in purpose, thought and action],

To purpose, was it for God’s purpose or my thinking by  my reasoning or my  senses… for purpose, for thought, was of the divine thought or my opinion, and that action, was it designated by God and His ways or again by my own thinking. Our thoughts must align with His thoughts! No opinions allowed!

 

 And that we might become heirs of eternal life according to [our hope]. HOPE IS:….elpis : with anticipation with an expectation in the confidence we have in God

Is my hope in me, is it found in my husband, is my hope in the Social Security System…my hope IS TRULY TO BE IN GOD!

8 This message is most trustworthy, and concerning these things I want you to insist steadfastly, so that those who have believed in (trusted in, relied on,) God may be careful to apply themselves to honorable occupations and to doing good, for such  themselves are [not only] excellent and right [in themselves,] but [they] are good and profitable for the people.  9 But avoid stupid and foolish controversies and genealogies and dissentions and wrangling about the Law, for they are unprofitable and futile. 10 [As for] a man who is factious [a heretical sectarian and cause of divisions] , after admonishing him a first and second time, reject [him from your fellowship and have nothing more to do with him],  11 Well aware that such a person has utterly changed (is perverted and corrupted); he goes on sinning [though he] is convicted of guilt and self-condemned.

 

From verses 8-11 Paul tells us to shun strife and factions. We are to have a transformed life that is that response to the grace of mercy revealed by God through His Son Jesus.  So in context, the meaning of verse 10 has to do with sectarian…he who causes divisions…. Is one of having a spirit toward or a devotion to a particular religion or sect. it is toward having dogmatic limits of bigotry regarding something specific as to the outward appearance. The Lord looks on the heart! Adhering to specific opinions in regard to intolerance with doctrine or belief as opinion and not authoritatively approved  is contrary to the Word of God. With God’s Word as the standard, anything outside of that is departing from truth.

  Being made new by the Holy Spirit we are activated in the Kingdom of heaven.. We are to seek unity within God’s church of believer’s. And it is by the Holy Spirit we can see deceptive doctrine displayed as well as seen in divisive behavior.

 And the third spiritual type category is the “carnal” man. He is regenerate but living much like an unregenerate, is a believer but is childish in his ways, has the spirit of a jealous and divisiveness ! This is one that will live more for human opinion than for Christ!

Again, the faithful believers do more than abstain from evil; they denounce the deeds of darkness as the unfruitful, shameful and not worthwhile. We prepare for our day or week by going to prayer and the word of God. We have conversation with Him and ask what to say to give His plan to others.  And in that prayer time we are not guessing about what is going on but we pray from the authority that has been given us through Jesus..And within God & His purpose, we  stay in His authority & speak & pray from that authority.

God’s power is exalted in us when our weaknesses are greatest because He “is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20). It is God’s power that continues to hold us in a state of grace despite our sin (2 Timothy 1:12), and by His power we are kept from falling (Jude 24). His power will be proclaimed by all the host of heaven for all eternity (Revelation 19:1). May that be our endless prayer in Jesus’ name! 

Go in His power and His might speaking boldness in whom you have confidence and see His glory cover this land!
