Our Spiritual Biography

Dead to Sin!

Romans 6:8-11 NKJV Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Spiritual biography is that each who receives Jesus is dead to sin. No longer controlled by the love of sin or its ruling power in our lives. It is dead to enslaving us with its power. Each day we have a choice whether to yield to sin, to let it reign in our bodies or stand firm it has no place in us.

Sin has died  because Christ beat death to the finish line. He settled the account. He lives as God and now lives in that new relationship as the Risen One, Resurrected Christ in that new sphere where sin cannot enter!

According to Romans 6:12-17 is that sin’s dominion has been broken by grace. Romans 6:12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, whether sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.

James 3:2 For we all stumble in many things, if anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

What Jesus finished is that work He accomplished against sin. He did a work of faith. That work was perfect faith. He revealed obedience that demonstrated the reality of His righteousness. If anyone says it is okay to sin, is one tending toward antinomianism. It is contrary to Paul’s whole discussion of sin and to Jesus’ own words about the law we see in Matthew 5:17-20 NKJV 17 Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.  18 For assuredly I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the  scribes and the Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus spoke this of the scribes and the Pharisees as they taught false doctrine. This was the tradition of the elders. They were not only legalistic but also strong in their commitment to the false doctrine. Sadducees were those rejecting the Pharisees. These were those coming from social families and considered rationalists and materialistic. They did not accept the supernatural! So they would not receive Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. And these two groups hated each other.

So, too, you would have many groups with a belief system that has nothing to do with Jesus!

For us Holy Spirit has moved in us. He is there representing the power for holy living. And he is motivated by love for the Savior, not as to a fear of punishment but of God producing holiness. Romans 6:1-2 states plainly that Christians are not to sin, that is, break God's laws. Therefore sin—and thus God's law, which tells us what sin is—must still exist.

It cannot be both ways. If they say that the law is done away, then in the biblical context, it is logical to conclude that there can be no sin. It is therefore illogical for them to claim that it is still wrong for a person to murder or to commit adultery because those sins would not exist without the laws that determine they are immoral or illegal acts. But the true answer lies elsewhere: Their conclusion that the law is done away is wrong!

In Romans 2:1-3 we see this! Romans 2:1-3 NKJV  Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. 2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. 3  And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?

Oh, how we can see our faults more clearly in other people indeed. Yet for us, we fail to apply them to ourselves. Our own reaction is so often to criticize negatively that we usually do not see that we are guilty of the same things as seen in others. If we find a certain type of behavior especially irritating in others, we may have the same problem!

To illustrate this blindness to our own sins, recall David's sin, recorded for all the world to see in  2 Samuel 12:1-5, when God sent Nathan to show David his sin with Bathsheba. Nathan told of a case in which a rich man who owned many sheep had stolen a poor man's pet lamb and killed it to eat for dinner. King David was outraged that anyone would be so greedy and selfish, so he pronounced the death penalty on this man. Then Nathan quietly pointed out that David had done the exact same thing when he stole Uriah's wife and sent Uriah to his death.

David was a man who, when he recognized his sin, would deeply repent. So how far his heart fell at that time, we can only imagine. He must have been devastated by his own weakness in sin.

What angers us about others in God's church? Consider this carefully, since in the answer may be a clue to our secret sins. "For you who judge practice the same things."

A friend was over this week. She has had some health issues but we expect her healing. She mentioned a specific thing going out by this gentleman criticizing those of a new program about Jesus. A friend sent it to her to see his complaint and I guess to prove he was right!  We had just started watching the Jesus series this past year and was caught off guard about this guy bashing the new program about Christ. So we listened on her phone that was sent by a friend of hers. We knew this had only two seasons and this man certainly pointed to some things.

But what captured us was that the man relates like the disciples are saved when walking with Jesus. He was not crucified, dead and buried. Jesus and John the Baptist had the Holy Spirit, but the disciples did not. They were being given the word of God, but they stood and walked and slept in their sinful natures till they could repent and receive Jesus as Lord. We must be cautious about people. We must know them where they stand and if they know of the Lord. Because without Jesus, they know not of their sin nor of their sinful natures before Him! Peter knew his sin when we refused to acknowledge that he knew Jesus, not once but three times he said he did not know Him.

Side Effects of the world are seen daily who choose to follow a sinful life, who persist in siding with the flesh and standing tall in culture, but siding with God is love and being full of unspeakable joy with much humility.

2023 is not the year to be deceived by satan. He as light can make you think about the light of God, but he will force one or more of his own designs into the pot and when deceived by them, one can choose to follow him without any arm-twisting. You can see that with the "gentleman" choosing to bash a program of Jesus that is taken word by word of the New Testament. He rallies with his own to bring deceitful ways and acts before you. But 2023 is to be the year for the believer with no side effects, those of the Lord’s way in truth and grace understanding that sin was done away. He carried sin for us, & in His mercy, we are new each morning!

We arrive on the wings of the Holy Spirit’s power to be in the right places at the right times for the plan of God for our steps are ordered in Him. May we not be committed to that which causes side effects to death but that which is to life and see with the light that shines at noonday in Jesus name.  When we were slaves to sin, the only freedom we knew was freedom from righteousness. Now that is a desperate condition indeed. It is bound to evil of every form and free from every good thing. In Paul we are challenged to take inventory of the fruits of an unsaved life, fruits in those activities of which we believers are now ashamed. For time is certainly squandered, influence is misused, best friends are wronged in some way, and our love is anything but nice nor friendly.

May we become slaves to righteousness in His name for His sake. For in you and I, we should know that to be our spiritual biography!

Just Take His Hand

Mark 1:21-31 NKJV 21 Then they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath he entered the synagogue and taught. 22 And they were astonished at His teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes. 23 Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, 24 saying, “Let us alone!” What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are----the Holy One of God!” 25 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet and come out of him!” 26 And when the unclean spirit had convulsed him and cried out with aloud voice, he came out of  him. 27 Then they were amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “what is this? What new doctrine is this? For with authority he commands even the unclean spirits and they obey Him.” 28 And immediately His fame spread throughout all the region around Galilee.

29 Now as soon as they had come out of the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30 But Simon’s wife mother lay sick with a fever, and they told Him about her at once. 31 So he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up and immediately the fever left her. And she served them.

Here in verses 21-28 you have an unclean spirit that knows who Jesus is and the religious group see Jesus as trying to give a new “doctrine”. Amazing, right? Yet here you have the two healing types are going on in Mark 1.

In the beginning of Gospel of Mark you have the calling of the disciples: Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea ( fisherman, you know) and then you then have James and John the sons of Zebedee and they were in their boat mending their nets when Jesus called them.

These people as fishermen worked hard and made money to pay their bills and their taxes! As the Sabbath came, Jesus and the disciples are in the synagogue. It is then that Jesus casts out the unclean spirit on the Sabbath as He taught. Yes, Jesus is teaching and the unclean spirit within a man walks into a service in the synagogue.

Jesus called those who would be active for the kingdom of God. No these would not be waiting on a check from any government, these men would work indeed!

Fishermen would have a first-hand look at casting, not nets into the water, but casting God’s word and reeling in an unclean spirit! Jesus was giving the reality of demons and the kingdom of God. In reality the lusts of men cause them to touch things and play with something dangerous to cause sickness and even death. And Jesus revealed the kingdom had come, that kingdom of God where Jesus carried authority. Furthermore, He gave this power to His followers.

In Mark 1:25 Jesus tells the demon to be quiet! He wants no testimony of the adversary. “Be quiet!”

And yet today, we have many speaking and declaring testimonies that are not true and only that which really is disguised but harms many not by any ounce of healing but fruits of evil to kill.

But Jesus points to healing, a physical healing to liberate men from the dread results of sin. A follower of Jesus should not be hearing testimony of the devil. A follower is to follow Jesus and declare the truth of God’s word over situations or trials and even viruses. Faith people call the unseen to be seen! Walking by faith is that faith or trust is in God who is our shelter from the storm, He is our shelter in the shade, a shelter from the heat of other people’s wrath or hate! ( Isaiah 4:6)

Either we speak God’s word with authority or we speak weakly. And speaking weakly is that you do not believe or have faith in God. Our witness is to be of the Lord! If you accept the witness of demons, you will not make them be quiet. But Jesus commanded the demon to be quiet. "Come out of him".  Can you imagine this man when the demon cried out and left him right there in that public place? Can you imagine what people would do today if that happened before them in a church or even in another public area? Yeah, panic city would occur! Here these amazed people are seeing authority in Jesus of what they have never seen before. Yet they had the same doctrine of God, but never relayed that to others. Wherever God works, the enemy opposes. And it can anyone again who opposes God and His truth!

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

Fame went out about Jesus! But Jesus was touching the man’s heart not for fame but for the kingdom of God. Something was occurring in Israel, the Messiah had come. A fire was starting and it was a good one!

Jesus spoke no words to Simon’s mother-in-law. He simply took her by hand and lifted or raised her up. One touch from God and she rose! He helped her to her feet and she was cured immediately. This fever left no weakened condition to this woman. She was cured, restored to serve others.

Are we healed and serving others or are we still hobbling about trying to get healed and still have people serving us? And she served them, not in a weakened condition, no she was alive and well by the hand of Jesus Christ. Amazing, the healing miracles of Christ Jesus. He dealt with each one in an individual case or as a group. He heard their cries, and this mother-in-law of Peter’s shows that the priest of the Lord ( Peter) had a family to care about. So Peter tells Jesus of his wife's mother and of the fever. Following Jesus, that follower would see with his eyes and hear what the Lord would do in those situations. Those who pay attention to the actions of the Christ will do those things as well. For the Lord lives in our hearts and He is active in His pursuit of the lost person requiring healing today.

In this passage from Mark 1, we see Mark underscoring the need for faith in the person Jesus Christ, in the  message, the Gospel had come, and the very power of Jesus to help those in need. Because Jesus in you and me enables us to engage and help those in extreme need. You and I must know the identity of Christ Jesus. Demons may know and confess His divine son-ship, but we must see through to the Cross, see His crucifixion, and resurrection, to take up our cross and follow Him. Because there are demons one day and healing the next that one may encounter, and if you think otherwise, then you know not that the kingdom of God has come.

Mark 16:15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature . 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe; in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents and if the drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover.”

19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, he was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 and they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

The signs confirms the ministry of Jesus Christ. His followers continue to carry out that the kingdom of God has come. The casting out of demons, speaking in tongues, and healing all is the ministry He revealed and all this comes by believing in Him.

Christ is lifted up and seated at the right hand of the Father. Jesus is in us and with the Father we are all one In Him! We are changed from glory to glory, we are encouraged to live for Him and become the image of Him. He kept His walk for a little over three years. He never quaked at anything. He kept hearing and receiving what the Father gave Him to do.

Now it is your turn. So how about that person next to you, have you prayed for him today or just took his hand and lifted him from his sickbed……for in Jesus we live and move and have our being! Amen!

That 'Anything Goes' Concept

The perfect storm when lawlessness appears!
That ‘Anything Goes’ concept or Poisoned Idolatry is evident! Ideas or concepts,  man’s view on life and death, the permission to sin, have their own belief and expect great results in wealth, peace and position that is not in the word of God, but sets up the 'perfect storm'. That ‘anything goes’ concept is a deliberate idea of man and is known as antinomianism.

In the very practice of this great lie of the enemy, the man or woman in this poisonous idolatry that is just sin, do it daily. Yet, Jesus died for us. He broke sin’s power on our lives. We are to now live by the Spirit of God, to live in the righteous requirement of the law as in Romans 8:1-4 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

God is perfect. His is holy and His word is not the problem. Sinful flesh of man is the problem. And yes, it does stink to the high heavens!

Antinomianism is epidemic today because man has become obsessed with self.  He gloats in himself, and he rejects God. It suits him to make his own laws! And he will overturn the last law he just made and even though he has no right to make them all on his own. The natural result of man becoming obsessed with self is power. They are worshipers of self-power who will not voluntarily submit themselves to God's rules or laws. They jealously reserve the option to ignore law, to act upon that which excites their rule and thirst for power.

You can see some in high offices today who probably do not really know God, but operate in that situation-oriented, subject to change at a moment notice to suit their fancy toward remaining in their seat of “self” where their position seems to be elevated even higher in their next law making decisions. They seem to speak in an exalted arrogance that points to their great rule and yet if fails miserably with no substance because it has nothing to do with God who is life!

Again this is of the “willful” and disobedient man or woman and can be found in churches as well as in government. They will often dismiss God's laws by claiming that they personally have "spiritual guidance" and have no need of law, or any law. Sometimes they use a misinterpretation of 1 John 2:27 to excuse their lawlessness. 1 John 2:27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches concerning all things and is true, and is not a lie and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

Abiding in Christ Jesus is by faith in Him and of a obedience. It is walking in righteousness that reveals a righteous behavior. It will be of love for others and still bring a correction if required. It is not just talk but love that has legs that walk out what God gives.  It is never about taking advantage of others in their present condition!

Antinomian Heresies is seen in Revelation! Revelation 2:14-15  NKJV  14 But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality. 15 Thus you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.

The subject matter is the doctrine of Balaam, and it was the sins of eating things sacrificed to idols and committing sexual immorality. Also listed is the doctrine of the Nicolaitans.  And it is Jesus Christ Who implies these three are the same basic heresy in different guises. They are three, but still has the heading of ‘antinomian’ teaching that was affecting the church in Thyatira seen in verses 20 and 21.

Now from that recorded by Moses in Numbers 22-25, 31, we have Balaam a prophet who was moved by Balak, king of Moab to curse the Israelites. Yes, this was of course was a job for the prophet. But Balaam instead blessed the Israelite people. Then the prophet Balaam counsels Balak to send Moabite and Midianite women into the camp of Israel to seduce the men and to invite them to the sacrifices of their god seen in (Numbers 25:1-2);  and seen also in Numbers 31:16 Look, these woman caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to trespass against the LORD in the incident of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.

He then counsels Balak to send Moabite and Midianite women into the camp of Israel to seduce the men and invite them to the sacrifices of their god (Numbers 25:1-2; 31:16). Clearly, Balaam's instruction included getting the Israelites to commit idolatry and sexual immorality.

These two practices arise in the Jerusalem Council in AD 49. You find that Paul and Barnabas, with Peter's help, convince the assembled elders that Gentile converts to Christianity should not be required to be circumcised and keep the law of Moses, Judaism's rigorous "yoke" of worthless laws in Acts 15:10.

Given in Acts 15: 10 Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Christ we shall be saved in the same manner as they. 12 Then all the multitude kept silent and listened to Barnabas and Paul declaring how many miracles and wonders God had worked through them among the Gentiles.

Seen here is that James names both the Holy Spirit and human initiative (ours) as factors in what is the council's decision! We must have the divine of the Holy Spirit to guide our human actions.

There was no need to add the law of Moses to faith and test God! Jesus’ sacrificial death was enough! Acts 15:28-29 For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things:  29 that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.

It is obvious that the  Council's decree does not exempt Gentiles from keeping the Ten Commandments, for it is clear from many New Testament passages that Jesus and the apostles taught them to both Jews and Gentiles seen in  Matthew 19:17-19  So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.” 18 He said to Him, “Which ones?” Jesus said, “You shall not murder; “You shall not commit adultery, “You shall not steal, “You shall not bear false witness, 19 “Honor your father and your mother, and “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” ; and in  Romans 13:9 for the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, “You shall not murder, “You shall not steal, “You shall not bear false witness, “You shall not covet and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 “Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Ultimately two issues appear, one is idolatry and  another is sexual immorality. The conflict between true Christianity and Hellenistic Gnosticism, and a person's stance on them exposed and which side he favored. Thus,Nicolaitanism, along with Balaamism are the biblical symbols or representatives of the larger, yes Gnostic, antinomian influence on Christianity.

One thing is certain, and that is Jesus’ admonitions in Revelation 2 indicate highly that this antinomian influence will remain until His return. He gives warnings to both Pergamos and to Thyatira.  “ Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth. . . . But to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not have this doctrine, and who have not known the depths of Satan [another allusion to antinomianism], as they call them, I will put on you no other burden. But hold fast what you have till I come. (verses 16, 24-25)

Jesus gives warning of the concern about the antinomian spirit, that attitude of lawlessness of which allows sins to infest the church at large. When members of the church teach and practice that they are not obliged to keep the laws of God, sin will inevitably break out vigorously.  Under this occurrence, then Christians are no longer under grace but under the penalty of the law and the wrath of the Judge (Romans 6:11-23) also seen in Hebrews 10:26-31.

Hebrews 10:26-31 NKJV 26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries . 28 Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord, And again, “the  LORD will judge His people.” 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Hebrews; 12:25-26 NKJV 25 See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, 26 whose voice then shook the earth; but now he has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.”

Matthew 24:11-12 Jesus spoke: “Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.”

What will happen to such lawless people? Jesus Himself answers: Matthew 7:22-23 NKJV Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?" And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!"

Those who practice lawlessness will not be with Jesus. They will be in another place.

The true disciples hear and obey.  They are not frightened by His voice or His leading. The confirmed are those who have a consistent life that is characterized by righteous behavior. Here in Matthew 7:22-23  we see those who never knew Jesus and He did not know them. Their lawlessness takes the meaning of deeds of lawlessness; they are characterized as living lives by wrongdoing constantly!

Titus 2:14 gives this account: …who gave Himself for us, that he might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people zealous for good works.  We are redeemed in Christ’s redemptive work. He created a ‘special’ people who are cleansed of sin and zealous for good works. Faith people are to encourage others to live in godliness, expose deceptive doctrine and divisive behavior, convict through the power of the Spirit. They are reproved in order to be restored to full and strong faith.

I refer back to 1 John 2:27……But the anointing which you received from him is remaining in you, and you have no need for anyone to be teaching you except as his anointing is teaching you about all things, and is true and is no lie. According as you have taught it, remain in him.

We remain in Jesus, led by the Spirit of God: Holy Spirit. He gives us the ability to discern between truth and error. We must have the Holy Spirit. He reveals good and evil. We are to learn what God has given. He requires no one to teach HIM, He is God. But we certainly require His wisdom to live out this day without going astray! We must hear His message, the gospel of Grace, and walk through each day by faith in Him!

Remember, we have been warned by Jesus in the book of Revelation! Pay attention to how He looks and what He speaks and then obey!

A Smack-down

Psalm 24: 7 Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle, 9 Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah.

Psalms 22-24 represents the presentation of the Messiah on the Cross of Crucifixion, His leadership as the Shepherd who leads us His people and of Psalm 24 He talks of the gates of being lifted to let in the King of glory.

Who are the gates? They are people! Hearts are to be turned to God in seeing the suffering of the Messiah for mankind. Hearts are too see His face and understand that God has purpose for mankind. He is everlasting speaking to those who have eternity in their hearts. God placed eternity in us and God surely desires us to be with Him always.
But there are those who choose evil ways, to get the upper hand and to rule over man in every way they possibly can!

Matthew 16: 13-20 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" 14 So they said, "Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." 15 He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" 16 Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

17 Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed are you Simon Bar-Jonah, For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 "And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth, will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.

Jesus was not saying the He would build His church on Peter. I mean seriously we are talking about the Cornerstone: Jesus! Jesus was speaking of building the church on the the words that came from heaven revealed to Simon Peter' s heart!
Yet you see a church built on men's own thoughts and purposes and not on God's at all! And if you pay attention to those in leadership of those said churches, you find them finding more ways to wrong than right with God!

This region of Caesarea Philippi was north of Galilee near Mt. Hermon. This was a principle area where idol worship was highly regarded. It was also the area where early people worshiped Pan, the half man, half goat deity. Pan was the cult that was about the "wild". ( we will not go into what they were wild about) Their rituals involved nudity! Yikes!

So when Jesus spoke here in this region ....to Simon Peter and those with him, He also was speaking to that which existed in the forms of idolatry that were against God! And what Simon who spoke revealed to him by God in heaven was that which would prevail. It is those in Jesus Christ who speak the same as Christ Jesus speaks as He did when He spoke of His Father and heaven.

Again from Psalm 24, the gates who lift their heads and allow the king of Glory are you and me who stand and speak about salvation, the glory of the Lord in Jesus Christ. We speak to declare the life that came to us abundantly through Him. And those who stand at the gate of hell who speak for hell are those who can look like you and me but speak only by lies, human nature, and that which is death. Their hearts are ruled by the devil.

We lift our gates to become those who say this is the way, the truth and the life in Jesus Christ. To walk as He did and prevail by the words given to us from heaven. For all that was presented of His kingdom to us, the greatest is the smack-down of hell that we stand in faith. We understand by daily reading and praying we are connecting with Jesus face to face. And as He opposed the enemy that once for all by the shedding of His blood, so too we have that victory now at our disposal through His sacrifice. Anything that is opposing God & His will is the lie. We regard the truth of God's word and we speak it in warfare of the mind, a warfare against arrogance & those rebellious thoughts, & ideas, those arguments against God. And we know that our God is to be prized.  We are to stand against any un-scriptural idea or personal confused belief that we might hold as true. What you fear, you will find a lie behind it & behind that fear is an idol!

We are to be intentional to rid anything that is contrary to God & His thoughts. The only truth is that which is given to us by God. May He find us being the faithful stewards in what He left to us to be in charge.

From Matthew 16:19 "And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth, will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.
We are gathered to Him. He plundered the strong man and we have that victory. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you and to speak those words Jesus spoke: Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Jesus ( and He is seated on our hearts). We abide in Him and His words abide in us,  and we speak what is glorifying to the Father. His peace He has left to us; not as the word gives did He give to us. We let not our hearts be troubled, neither will we be afraid. (John 14:25-27)
Jesus did a smackdown on the devil and we have the victory! We love the Lord, keep His word and the Father loves us. They have made their home with us! (John 14:23-24)

If we truly know God our Father to be the Creator and Jesus the manifested Word, then the Holy Spirit will speak to us what the Father has told Him from that appointment from the Cross on Calvary.
Many things are on the airwaves, on videos and in news reports, still our faith is to be in God and Him alone. So what about those viruses with those wild names, and those things that seem to capture headline news day and night for months on end?  What if you get a cough? What if you do not get a cough? Still whatever the list of other maladies may be, still we understand of the end-time prophecies for disease and epidemics. God is still here, and has not left us as orphans. He planned His best for us through His Son and I am not missing this great opportunity to be a witness of His great love in this end-time harvest! How about you? Let's have a smack-down!
