Signs and Symptoms of Depression

What are the signs and symptoms of depression? The water cures view point include....” Depression  can be like the dying grass that lacks water”. If you have ever gone on trip for a few weeks and come back, you most likely will find the brown lawn and knowing that yard is deplete of water. But not an abundance of watering will promote the lawn back to its green state of health. In truth our bodies need water, too! Even our brain is 85 percent water. So we need water to survive. We need fresh water to maintain healthy function of all of our nine trillion brain cells. Many years my husband and I drank large amounts of water. But during the enthronement of COVID-19 by some officials, we found that too much water can cause water poisoning.

I had continue to look at the signs and symptoms of depression. And in that continued search, I found out what would alleviate depression, I heard a godly medical teacher and doctor speaking and teaching that depression can be helped by taking simple things like Co Q10.

Now, I am not a doctor and I do not play one on television, but I know some things about how my body works and what makes it wake up to live another day with energy and a smile on my face.  I also know that I have to note how body is responding to that new day. One thing seen and exercised to do is :To simple take count of what you place in your body can make you realize what is junk and what is actually useful.

Now this depression is not the poor, poor pitiful me, but that when all was being seen and done in the Lord and for the Lord and then all becomes the quiet. No one seems to notice you, or ask for prayer. The scene turns from the those who are the joyful to the those who have sand in their shoes and dirt on their tongues. Lord, are YOU still there? Lord, I know we continue in this. I know what the unknown author senses in their spirit man when they write for YOU. I know the one everyone calls anonymous for they neither remember names nor what was spoken. And what was given: WAS A WARNING!

Was thinking about the two on walked on the road to Emmaus. Everything displayed, people being healed, they believed Jesus to take the throne as king over Israel, but Jesus died. He died for those who believe in Him! For each of us have had that moment, when everything appears to fall apart and no one is found to pick up the pieces. And yet what pieces, we continue in the Lord. He makes all things new!

Lord, I do not want to be like those on the road to Emmaus, who stood still with their faces downcast when You asked, “What are discussing together as you walk along?” they responded, “We had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel.” (Luke 24:17, 21) certainly they did not understand that the cross had to come before the kingdom. How foolish they were! The very death they had responded to with hopelessness represented the greatest hope of all time! God, I ask for forgiveness for every single time I have blamed my hopelessness on You. You are the God of hope. You are the Blessed Hope, Himself!

Jesus broke the bread and blessed it and He disappeared. He who walked with them, who asked them questions and sat with them for bread disappeared. Oh that spiritual eyes would be open to the Scriptures Jesus spoke about to the two who were held in a depressive state.

How can we identify with others going through situations we’ve never encountered face-to-face? Walk trenches we’ve never been pushed into? Because based on the way Jesus lived his life, that’s what I believe He’s asking us to do as Christians. To put away sympathy and embrace empathy. That’s where true comfort lies.

I can sympathize with someone who has lost a parent. I cannot sympathize with some who has lost a child. Although I know they are in a state of insurmountable pain, a heartache from the center of their being, but still I would have no words to give them. A hug I could give, a tissue for the eyes, but to open my mouth would bring a “mess” when just a polite appearing is enough to them for that moment. Pieces of their lives scattered, from the bedroom of a child to the room made in a cemetery.

Philippians 2:5-8 – Jesus Christ, who being in the very nature of God did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage.  Rather he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant (left his home), being made in human likeness.  And being found as a man, humbled himself even further by becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross.

Father God had this empathy. Father God knew the heartache of losing His Son to the hands of wicked men!

Jesus is empathy’s perfect example. He didn’t come to earth to save us as God, detached and gazing down in sympathy and pity. He came as man, born into the trenches, to live and suffer as a human. His empathy makes Him the perfect sacrifice. The perfect bridge between God and us.

Hebrews 4:15  “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin”

Jesus did not hide in a trench. Did not run to another place to hide out in a basement, but He moved in power: Initiated grace to the least of them, Served those who dishonored Him the most, His beliefs were not fables or fickle, His opinion was not swayed: He was on His mission for Salvation who kept the future focus, faith and determination and He acted on complete conviction!

To get out of the depressive state one has to move their eyes forward and toward reaching others either by the word of God or prayer for them. It is for spiritual eyes to be open, to see and hear the way to freedom from God’s word.

Hope does not disappoint me, because YOU, God, have poured out Your love into my heart by the Holy Spirit, whom You have given me. (Romans 5:5)

Recently a pastor on the East Coast had sent us a scripture. He has never met us but we have corresponded by his teachings on a “God channel”. Touched by his heart for people, he had prayed to reach the “stranger”. And so we too have praying that prayer nightly going on three months. And it was last week he sent us this passage from Psalm 142. We read it and then knew God was speaking to us:  But when we give the whole of Psalm 142 we are praying for relief from prosecutors. I cry out to the LORD with my voice; with my voice to the LORD I make my supplication. 2 I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble. 3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then You knew my path. In the way in which I walk they have secretly set a snare for me.  4 Look on my right and see, for there is no one who acknowledges me; Refuge has failed me; no one cares for my soul. 5 I cried out to You, O LORD. I said, “You are my refuge. My portion in the land of the living. 6 Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low; deliver me from my persecutors, for they are stronger than I. 7 Bring my soul out of prison. That I may praise Your name; the righteous shall surround me, for You shall deal bountifully with me.”

Persecutors are those who once stood with you, but now turn their backs. Persecutors can speak evil against you now because of what your beliefs are in the Lord. Persecutors will even change the numbers of views on your teachings of the Gospel to make it look like you fail. But we did not continue to look a numbers: We forgave them!

And we forgave them and we forgave them. Yes, this passage came to us and then our daughter told me of this dream she had two weeks ago. She told how the Lord had given me a degree for healing, but it was from His word and how it would be used. She also gave reference to a counter installed on this mount and the numbers starting moving at a fast rate. The Lord was showing that our prayers were answered. We had been praying for the "Stranger" and God was revealing they were coming to hear the word of God through what He allows us to send it out for His glory and to His praise!

For the Holy Spirit has come as given in Acts 2:4. Those present within that prayer time were filled with Holy Spirit and they spoke in languages they had never spoken before. Holy Spirit is the "breath" the air we breathe. God who breathed into Adam is the same God who raised Jesus from the dead. He breathes into us and activates us to speak His words. Our hearts resident is He Who is written about throughout the entire bible and not just the beginning with His birth in Bethlehem.

Of the several appearances of Jesus after His resurrection, women found Him and they saw Him. Mary told of her seeing Him in the garden: John 20:11-18 NKJV 11 but Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb. 12 And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the fee, where the body of Jesus had lain. 13 then they said to her, "Woman, why are weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord and I do not know where they have laid Him." 14 Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, "Woman why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?" She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, "Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him and I will take Him away." 16 Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said, "Rabboni!" (which is to say, Teacher). 17 Jesus said to her, "Do not cling to Me for I have not yet ascended to My Father but go to My brethren and say to them, "I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God." 18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, that he had spoken these things to her.

Several appearances of Jesus then ensue. Meeting with Jesus, their response is one of wonder and joyful worship!

We have seen that of Luke 24 where Jesus taught the two disciples. Matthew 28:9-10 And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice”! So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. 10 then Jesus said to them, “do not be afraid, Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.”

Instruction was given: “Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee and there they will see Me.” Yes, instruction is important to us. And when are active in receiving the Lord’s instruction we see Him! For instruction is seeing Him and hearing to obey: Marks 16:17 And these signs will follow those who believe: “In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues, 18 “they will take up serpents, and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover.”

And if you have seen the teaching we did on Mark 16 both in Life Giving Wells and Voice of Prayer, this verse 18 taking up serpents is a person who is so set against those of God’s people, so set against the people who have the Lord enthroned on their hearts, but the serpent wants revenge on the believer!

Knowing Christ Jesus, Knowing His name and Who He is, is living life to the full! It is not the name of a media, nor show nor is living by the name of some billionaire nor that of a city but by the name of Jesus, for He is living and active. He is the Word made flesh to dwell with us. And the Holy Spirit is on the scene and ready to breathe that life into you and me. Daily we are to speak, not that of dead men’s words but those that are words of life about Jesus and the Holy Spirit Who has come! Purpose was before them! And purpose is before us and we must allow the Holy Spirit His way in our lives.

I always heard that to have depression or that depressive state is having the Lord absent from us. We must maintain that walk or that run. Though Jesus left the disciples He appeared in His glory! Though they saw Him die on the cross, dying at the hands of government, of religious leaders and even those of Roman soldiers, He rose from the dead. We can see all that God has purposed for us fulfilled when we continue to speak His name, declare His truths and expect His return. He is for us and we know this because He came to touch man, to give that hug, to help them rise from a sickened condition and see their heart smile when He touched them by that grace and by power of the Holy Spirit!

Depression has no place in me nor in you. People may hear something we wrote but others call out it was by anonymous. Others might hear of you giving a speech or even a teaching and call you the unknown author. But we are not hidden nor are we invisible. The Lord knows those who are His. He knows the way in which we walk for He ordered our steps in Him. Today, you and I drink our daily intake of water, we take in the adequate food for strength and energy and we provide fuel to our heart from God’s word. Jesus died and He rose again, and He did it when all Israel was in turmoil. He rose even though Rome ruled. He rose according to God and His plan. Today, we too, rise for God's plan. No depressive state, no name can rule us that is of man, for we will not be ruled by some virus, nor some man blind to God! For it is God who is to be glorified for He knows our frame, He knows we are dust and still He loves best. We are signs and wonders to a decaying world, and I will not quit, this is the finest hour for the Lord's glory!

King of Glory

In Psalm 29, we are given that no matter the storm, no matter how weak or frail the church, Jehovah has strength and majesty to prevail.

Psalm 29 Give unto the LORD, O you mighty ones, give unto the LORD glory and strength. 2 Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name, Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Give, give….give unto the LORD glory and strength, give glory due to His name….worship Him

If you live in the United States, you might have grown up in the south. You might have experienced some electrical storms in the midnight hour. I saw many when growing up in that region of such nation. I saw the magnitude and brilliance of packed power in just one electrical strike and then to have a multitude of them within just seconds, you begin to look at Him who can do such things!

Although storms can come in different forms and manners still we are to be reminded that God knows the inside of us as He knows the outside nature of the world and beyond!

STORMS Happen: like Covid-19………3 The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders; The LORD is over many waters. 4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; The voice of the LORD is full of majesty. 5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars, Yes, the LORD splinters the cedars of Lebanon. 6 He makes them also skip like a calf, Lebanon & Sirion like a young wild ox. 7 The voice of the LORD divides the flames of fire. 8 The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; The LORD shakes the Wilderness of Kadesh. 9 The voice of the LORD makes the deer give birth, & strips the forests bare; & in His temple everyone says, “glory!”

THE STORM HAS Ended: THE Lord remains. His throne is not moved by Covid-19 nor that which men devise as evil before Him. He will judge and rise to do what is righteous in His sight! His judgment is fair!

Psalm 29:10 The LORD sat enthroned at the Flood, and the LORD sits as King forever.

August 2019 we had studied the ark, God’s calling Noah to build. Gen. 7:1-6 NKJV Then the LORD said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you & all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation ( generation of ruin-they are anti-everything). 2 “You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male & his female, two each of animals that are unclean, a male & his female; 3 also seven each of birds of the air, male & female, to keep the species alive on the face of all the earth. 4 For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days & forty nights, & I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made. 5 And Noah did according to all that the LORD commanded him.

1.       God will not ask you to do something unless He is already there ahead of you..Come into the ark…come to safety for the generation is of ruin…..they are anti-everything

2.       And Noah did according to all the LORD commanded him

3.       And God will introduce you to things like rain as He did to Noah!

Psalm 29:11 The LORD will give strength to His  people; The LORD will bless His people with peace.

Yes, the strength of the Lord to His people is this thing called peace. It is a peace beyond just that ordinary word or meaning. In Luke 12, Jesus told us that He did not come to bring peace but rather division!

Luke 12:49-56    NKJV…….49  I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished! 51 Do you suppose I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. 52 For from now on five in one house will be divided three against two and two against three. 53 Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter- in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother –in-law. 54 The He also said to the multitude “Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west immediately you say; ‘ a shower is coming,’ and so it is. 55 And when you see the south wind blow you say, “there will be hot weather and there is. 56 “Hypocrites!” You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time?”

This Holy Spirit fire will bring an authority from heaven to earth. And the Holy Spirit in us, brings His peace of heaven, but will also bring division on earth. We are to live for God and not for the world! Jesus lived for God and they crucified Him!

Voice as a Thunderstorm: From Verse 3-4 His Voice is as a thunderstorm. He is over the tumultuous, God has dominion; His Voice is power, it is full of majesty: Revelation 4:5 And from the throne proceeded, lightnings, thundering, & voices. Seven  lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the 7 Spirits of God.

From Psalm 29 & V. 5 His voice breaks the cedars, Yes, the LORD splinters the cedars of Lebanon: 6 He makes them also skip like a calf, Lebanon & Sirion like a young wild ox:

1.       He makes them skip like a calf , Lebanon and Sirion: He causes the cedars to move by His majestic power; as the winds move over the trees, they appear to move like animals

2.       Storms brew and God’s voice is to be heard through them

3.       Thunder will reverberate through our being, lightning may dance and strike a tone by a hit on some high rod in the sky, but as Psalm 29: 1 speaks, Give unto the LORD, O you mighty ones, give unto the LORD glory and strength. 2 Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name, Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

4.       Whatever virus man makes to destroy others, God is to be glorified, not for viruses but for WHO God is.

5.       Give unto the Lord that which is ascribed to HIM, for He remains when the wind has passed on by. He remains to see us and see us speak to honor Him, to see His majesty and glory

6.       We are to approach Him in the act of worship: that state of the heart—the "internal" ornament-with which we should approach God—to a holy/ pure state of mind/that beauty or appropriateness of the soul which consists in holiness or purity. For when something strikes loud, and comes to stop you and yours: lift your voice to Him who is to be honored. Lift your voice in praise to His glory and His majesty.

Whatever the storm, man-made or nature made, when there is sin involved a landslide will occur! Seen any in your area recently? I cannot but help notice where landslides are appearing around the world and specifically in what nations. Yes, sin is prevailing in some regions of the world. It is that "Me" drama:  It is that appearance, that culture which does the opposite God would do! It is one that rewards laziness: so they give them welfare checks! It also appears today as the real time-honored values of fathers are being attacked in commercials!

Another storm is that appearance within society that you get what you want by doing the wrong thing to get it……..and sometimes they are not prosecuted for doing wrong. It is endorsing perversion. It is refusing to discipline children. It appears as a worship of a political system rather than worship of almighty God. Yes, that self-interest causes landslides indeed! We hear of some regularly on the south side of I-84.

But the King of glory prevails. The Light has appeared and it was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. (John 1:9) John 3:17 For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he Who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.

Yes, lightning at night can raise many a man, woman or child out of a sleep and that warm bed. That clapping sound of thunder can raise a shaky interior to the man or woman who does not like that kind of thing especially in the midnight hour. But that lighting will light up a dark house. That light of the Lord will also light up that which needs light shined on it. For misdeeds and the such must be dealt with quickly. And the King of glory can do that quickly if you allow Him space and time to do it! Honest hearts will come near to God; they will come to the light for a change to occur.

Jesus is this Warrior— He is the King of glory! And He is the strong Lord, the mighty Lord of battle, Zechariah 14:3 Then the LORD will go forth & fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle. 4 And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley.

The same Jesus in Revelation 1 is going to step foot on earth! Majesty, mighty, courageous heart and enduring strength, yes, His Greatness, authority and honor will be noted. He will be worshiped by everyone…. GLORY!

Light will shine....darkness will try to hide and every knee shall bow before Him: the King of kings and the Lord of lords! Amen.

ABRUPTLY

Ever hear of that "suddenly" when God does something in your life? Abruptly something changes in like what we have seen within the Christian community. Many people were banking on that good season, and someone decided to lie about somethings and keep 'secrets' and a good season changed abruptly. But God is in this house, those who know Him should not be moved by a virus! But some are in this day and hour.
So have you heard of someone speaking of an abrupt change or a suddenly, when what was wrong was made right or what about something right, was going right suddenly changed to something not so good?

Do we notice when a "suddenly" appears and involves nations around the world at the same time?

The Flood occurred to save those who follow God! God show Noah the strategic plan of "An Ark" to save those of Noah's family for the rest of that known world were going to die because of their evil ways! Remember rain appeared abruptly, but Noah knew it was coming and it took some one hundred years to arrive, and it was delivered. And the known world at that time participated in that 'event'.

Then there was the day the Sun stood still and the Moon stopped in place.

Joshua 10 12-15 NKJV Then Joshua spoke to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel and he said in the sight of Israel:   "Sun stand still over Gibeon; and Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon." 13 So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the people had revenge on their enemies.  Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. 14 And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the LORD heeded the voice of man; for the LORD fought for Israel. 15 Then Joshua returned and all Israel with him, to the camp of Gilgal.

The " abruptly" appears out of or from the supernatural of God! It occurs when there is prayer given, when answers are needed and the only one who can get it done is God Himself!

In this passage, Joshua spoke to God in prayer that the sun stand still.....and we all know that we on planet earth orbit around the sun. The point is that sun had to stop its influence on the planets as the earth. Joshua spoke to the sun and the moon!
In earlier passages of Joshua, the man did not consult with God! In Joshua 9:14. You might remember this passage. You know there was a group of men called the Gibeonites and they had heard what God with Joshua and Israel had done had Jericho and Ai!  So these men decided to deceive Joshua and Israel. They decided to be 'ambassadors' and they prepared their deceit by making themselves appear as the weary travelers. They took old sacks on their donkeys, old wineskins torn and mended, old and patched sandals on their feet, and old garments on themselves; and all the bread of their provision was dry and moldy. ( Joshua 9:1-5)
Then they come to Joshua, to the camp at Gilgal and said: "we have come from a far country; now therefore make a covenant with us." And Joshua does question them about they might dwell among them and he asks again where do they come from and their response is that they have come from a very far country.....then they say flattering things like" we come because of the name of the LORD your God; for we have heard of His fame, and all that He did in Egypt.

If you remember from what God told them, they would have to rid Canaan of the Canaanites. These specific men were Hivites who had most likely come into the region from what would have been north of Palestine in Syria. It was meant that they had to rid the land of them like what had been done in Jericho and Ai.
In earlier reading of Joshua, you can find those who live in Canaan as the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites,Girgashites, Amorites, & Jebusites.( Joshua 3:1-13)

As the Israelites entered into Canaan, those who of that land were hearing of their entrance and they began to melt within their hearts that God was moving in and His rule was going to be seen! And yes, kings and the such were shaking for they were to be driven out of that which God promised His people who came to possess that very land! So these Gibeonites did not think they could unite the cities of Canaan to fight against Israel, so they thought they would join them, the children of God, so they could live and not die!

These deceitful men keep speaking:
Joshua 9:11 Therefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spoke to us, saying, 'Take no provisions with you for the journey and go to meet them and say to them, "We are your servants; now therefore, make a covenant with us." 12 "this bread of ours we took hot for our provision from our houses on the day we departed to come to you. But now look, it is dry and moldy. 13 "And these wine-skins which we filled were new, and see, they are torn; and these our garments and our sandals have become old because of the very long journey." 14 Then the man of Israel took some of their provisions; but they did not ask counsel of the LORD.

Joshua made peace with them, and made a covenant with them to let them live; and the rulers of the congregation swore to them. And it happened at the end of three days, after they had made a covenant with them, that they heard that they were their neighbors who dwelt near them. (Joshua 9:15-17) The children of Israel then came to the actual region these deceitful men lived and allowed them to live. Israel had believed their lies and sworn a covenant with them. But  the rulers said they would have them be woodcutters and water carriers for all the congregation, as the rulers had promised them. Addressing that the men be called to him, Joshua asked why they had deceived them and spoke they were people who lived far away from them. Joshua pronounces a curse on them and none would be freed from being slaves---woodcutters and water carriers for the house of his God.

The people ( the children of Israel) grumbled as a whole community against the leadership that were placed before them by God.  But their grumbling was because leadership did not seek God's counsel of the plan on the whole ordeal!

On their march forward across Canaan, the other kings heard of what Joshua and Israel had done to Jericho, and to Ai and how the Gibeonites had joined them.
( Joshua 10: 3:9) Therefore Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sent to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish, and Debir king of Eglon, saying, "Come up to me and help me, that we may attack Gibeon, for it has made peace with Joshua and the children of Israel."

Therefore it was five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jersusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon, gathered together and went up, they and all their armies, and camped before Gibeon and made war against it. And the men of Gibeon sent to Joshua at the camp at Gilgal, saying, "Do not forsake your servants; come up to us quickly, save us and help us, for all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the mountains have gathered together against us."

So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him and all the mighty men of valor. And the LORD said to Joshua, "Do not fear them, for I have delivered them into your hand; not a man of them shall stand before you." Joshua therefore came upon them suddenly, having marched all night from Gilgal.

Joshua 10:10 So the LORD routed them before Israel, killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, chased them along the road that goes now to Beth Horon, and struck them down as far as Azekah and Makkedah. 11 And it happened, as they fled before Israel, and were on the descent of Beth Horon, that the LORD cast down large hailstones from heaven on them as far as Azekah, and they died. There were more who died from the hailstones than the children of Israel killed with the sword.

Now Joshua has counsel with the LORD! Now he is not making wrong decisions but right ones in hearing God speak to him the plan.
Now out of prayer the answer has come and the spiritual is seen in the natural! When God gives us authority to speak things happen. Victory occurs in the direction we are to be going. As with Joshua he followed God in prayer, he with his men of war and men of valor, they fought, they did not sit idly by and whine. They went at it with faith in God and hailstones killed more of those than the children of Israel had slain.

Joshua spoke they would be slaves….and we know this came originally from Noah’s speaking:  Genesis 9:24-27    So Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done to him. 25 Then he said: “Cursed be Canaan, as servant of servants he shall be to his brethren.” 26 And he said: “Blessed be the LORD the God of Shem, & may Canaan be his servant. 27 May God enlarge Japheth; and may he dwell in the tents of Shem; & may Canaan be his servant.”

These men would be wood cutters and water carriers to carry out laborious work! This act meant that the men of Gibeon (Ghib—on) would do the work or service that their women and children had done for them for centuries... Yikes!
These men were being diminished….they would come into degrading employment: once warriors now they were condemned to perform the work once performed by women or females. It was for self- preservation, these people had sunk to a real low!

The Gibeonites wanted to live, so they became servants or like Joshua had said in  verse ….23 Now therefore, you are cursed, &  none of you shall be freed from being slaves---woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God.
Joshua 9:27   and that day Joshua made them wood-cutters and water carriers for the congregation & for the altar of the LORD, in the place which He would choose, even to this day.

(It is amazing to me how people will rather take a curse to live than trust God for what is ours already by the blood of Jesus! People are all out for "that cure " for covid 19 when we have Jesus! They would rather come under that curse thing than stay under the shelter of the living God!)

We should take heed from chapter 9: Lies will not benefit anyone, and that pagans like those people of Gibeon would produce no honor but would only be known for wicked lies and reduced to slavery!

It is important to remember that in speaking, truth should prevail, our conduct should prove having a heart after God and willing to do what He commands. Reading earlier in Joshua 9:17 the congregation of Israel took three days to get to Gibeon, and they went with battle attire and marched 18+ miles overnight!
10 So the LORD routed them before Israel, killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, chased them along the road that goes to Beth Horon, & struck them down as far as Azekah ( A–zee-kah) and Makkedah. 11 And it happened, as they fled before Israel & were on the descent of Beth Horon, that the LORD cast down large hailstones from heaven, on them as far as Azekah, and they died, There were more who died from the hailstones than the children of Israel killed with the sword.

NOW THAT is GOD! Joshua showed up suddenly……was traveling all night from Gilgal.  The marching was a 18 -26 mile march…and …would have taken 3 days and these men arrived at daybreak……..SO SURPRISE!

In verse 11 that God used hailstones to assist in the attack! This was no natural occurrence.  More were killed by hail-stones than by the sword of the Israelites.
God himself had spoken to Job of the treasury of snow and hail, Job 38: 22-23    ….22 Have you entered the treasury of snow, or have you seen the treasury of hail  23 which I have reserved for the time of trouble, for the day of battle and war?

It is a fearful thing to fall into God’s hands when one is against Him and His people.....So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, & did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. 14 And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the LORD heeded the voice of a man, for the LORD fought for Israel. 15 Then Joshua returned & all Israel with him, to the camp at Gilgal.
God can and will do the miraculous in fulfilling His word.

You and I can be fully loaded and ready for battlements against the enemy. Prayer should be our life as it was seen in Jesus. It is hearing Him and then doing without hesitation, and no uncertainty, the surefooted who know God is with them….even surefooted in the high places where even God has His arsenal ready for action. For God’s word is sure and makes us strong and steadfast without quaking in our shoes where we never shrink or fall backward!

The great power of God crowned the miraculous event…of the sun….and The great faith of Joshua lived a victorious battle for Israel …… 24 hours  became a 48 hour day….
Habakkuk 3:11. The sun and moon stood still in their habitation; at the light of Your arrows they went, as the shining of Your glittering spear.
Joshua as one who lived a life that illustrated a heart wholly devoted to the Lord that exhibited a faithfulness and a trust in God!

Evidence proved God is alive and is seen in those men who can move far above and beyond themselves in a victory that is of the Lord God.  He will do what He has spoken. God confounded those idolaters who worshiped the sun and the moon. And that the very things these men worshiped were stopped in place for a whole day!
In this day and time, taking what was promised meant putting to death that which remained in their way! For the Israelites, their success was to be in God and all that He ever spoke to them.
Our allegiance is to God the One and Only TRUE God. Hold fast when others lie, for if you will hold strong in Him, He will not let you go! Those who lie, who bank on lies will be those who will be diminished……but you who hold fast to God will see the miraculous. Israel did!
That which we might take for granted was used against this enemy ………..and God was faithful and proved strong!
