Discipline

Was reading an article on discipline today. I had just come from hearing a recorded program on health and ways to strengthen the immune system within the body. In this recent news on body health are the ways to know what causes things like sickness or flues as fungus in the body: peanuts, corn, and wine. ( also like some vaccines)So it was worth waiting to watch to learn what steps to take when you have issues within your own body, what not to eat or drink and how to pray about it! Discipline is so needed in regard to just living life on this earth! And today, you can be bombarded with many fast foods commercials, as well as those fast cars or durable trucks and fast methods to acquiring drugs from your pharmacy (delivered to your door),  but rarely does one hear how they should be disciplined to know what God speaks about it all!

While viewing one such recorded program early this morning, I remembered this one player who was so sought out in that field of basketball. This goes back to the twentieth century and the 1980's! To play in the national basketball one had to be suited for producing wins no doubt. But this young man, even though selected as the 12th pick as "the hopeful" to make a real difference for the team to the Washington Bullets, yet he proved no help to them. This young man was predicted to go all the way for the team but in truth his life was undisciplined. He was noted for having no discipline when he ate anything he wanted nor what he ate nor  gave any thought to exercise. Of all that could be noted of this player who many were expecting great wins with, showed up revealing at that time he had eaten his way out of the NBA. Overweight at his rookie training camp, he earned some undesirable nicknames.

It is the Apostle Paul who told young Pastor Timothy, (1 Timothy 4:7-8)"But have nothing to do with worldly fables fit only for old women. On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness; for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come."

Now, exercise is important for producing good benefits in condition of the heart and to strengthen one’s core to keep up with work in the workplace, home details as to cleaning and to food preparation, plus that which would also all children's activities, and to life in general. One must make it a rule to keep active and on the alert for that which is good  for the right kinds of food with actual life in it and not some dead food that is considered junk and only destroys one’s health. Another obvious thing I have learned is that many of the elderly have to learn how to get up should they should fall whether indoors or outdoors.  And yes, there are many written articles, talk shows, medical health benefits to show the elderly how to get up from that fallen position, but you also need to know which would benefit you in the long run.One such thing is like glutathione for your cells ( you know for energy).

A good way to find the way to good health, and those benefits is found in that discipline to be immersed in the word of God! It is God’s word that is the foundation of our lives. In the Scriptures, God reveals Himself and His will for us. If we want to know and enjoy God, the place to begin is God’s word.

Apart from the Bible, we cannot know what God is like. He is our Father, has love for us and really wants to give us His wisdom for this life. For you and I, we can  see some aspects of God in nature and the creation, but we would never look at an oak tree or a butterfly and know that God is holy, sovereign or loving. We could never know what Jesus did to redeem us by hiking through the Grand Canyon.  Not that I would consider hiking Grand Canyon, but for us, we have been on some pathways here in the area we reside. And although not as rocky nor as mountainous, still one must be capable to stay on the pathway and jump out of the way of that fast moving golf cart headed to the golf course. Knowing Jesus is knowing Him  Who is well disciplined. He obeyed the Father all the way to the Cross at Calvary. So too, Health is important to us if we desire to live long lives, for we must know the difference from what is franken-food to our body and what is actually good to our body to thrive and live long on the earth.

Yes, we must be awakened to truth, and that is in God who never changes. His spiritual truth remains the same: yesterday, today and forever in Christ Jesus!

Here’s what Scripture says about itself:  "Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O LORD, God of hosts." - Jeremiah 15:16. To eat God's words means we take them in, hear them consistently by either reading them or hearing them and speaking them out after that hearing them. And when we do this, they become a joy and delight to our hearts. So we should be the delighted. We should have a joy in our hearts understanding His words guard us in our thinking. In that shaping our thinking to match His, we should consider Psalm 1.

In that Psalm, there are two forces that will shape our thinking: either the world or God’s word: Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. (Psalm 1:1-2) For you and I, we can either follow the counsel of the world or the counsel of the Word. Psalm 1 tells us that we should make God’s word our delight and meditate on it consistently – day and night.

That word  "blessed" in verse 1 is happy and expresses itself in the sense of joy and satisfaction in one's state or circumstances. And it is often the result of blessing that comes from a trust in the LORD when obedience is found.

1 John 5:3 For this is love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

Was thinking of Jesus speaking to the religious: "you are like your father the devil." What He actually said was this: John 8:42-44 "If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but he sent Me. 43 "Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

It is never the ethnic nor family pedigree that makes one acceptable to God but honoring God by believing in and loving Jesus Christ. Some people are just out for that "fifteen minutes of fame" not looking for the long haul of life. And one certainly does not gain long life unless he is in Christ Jesus.

When it comes to spiritual disciplines for the Christian life, the first thing we should seek to incorporate into our lives is regular meditation on Scripture. Like the food we eat for life, energy and rest, we also meditate on God’s word as to dwell on it, to roll it over in our minds in order to apply it to our lives.

It is like trying those new foods out and reverting to a bag of chips when the taste of the new and the vivid dark color of the food is all green will not satisfy the "old man" in his eating habits. And yes the flesh creature would rather watch TV than read the word of God. Flesh creature will always be that spiritual underachiever, living so far below the potential that God has placed within them. Discipline is required for just about everything that has to do with living in this world. That applies to when you go to sleep at night to when you arise at the first morning light!

Now that discipline in 1 Timothy 4 is an interesting word. In the Greek the word gymnaso appears. It means to train or to exercise naked. Or in athletic terms, as it was in Paul’s day, was to take off that shirt to work out. That was a stripping off the unnecessary to move through a routine so exercise would be a benefit to them for those Olympic games.

As being disciplined to right eating of food for the body: like not eating candy, no drinking wine with that meal, leaving off dessert and taking an extra few laps around your neighborhood will peel off some that fat on the body. So, too, you and I must do the same in the spiritual realm. We must strip away all the garments of pretense as we meet with the Lord each day in prayer, in that Bible study and in fellowship. We must come before Him with an open and honest heart, not telling God what we think, an opinion but truly sharing our hearts, those hurts, fears and tears but truly sharing every problem we might hold in our heart.

Disciplined today might not bring you that NBA contract to your life, but stripped to being a truly productive living being will always include that encouraging and enriching workout with God the Lord, so that we need not try to be someone we are not! To be the real in God, it must be about the truth of  God Who will take us  from where we are and bring us to a place of strength, peace and power as we come to Him day after day for nourishment that is of benefit and life to us. We will come to satisfaction in Him when we continually humble ourselves to the speaking that we require some help with what goes into our mouths for our God is faithful and He will be there to help!

It is He, Who makes us spiritually strong when and if we are the willing to be faithful to hard work of saying no to the flesh and yes to the spirit man. It is saying no to wrong types of food and saying no to the wrong types of things our eyes focus on that brings the wrong thing into our lives. We are to say yes to the spirit of doing right things that are the necessary as in spending quality time with Him who planned for us, purposed to set us apart and to develop a deep and genuine walk with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Yeah, it is not the NBA, but He is all I need to accomplish life on earth. He is Greater, Majesty on High....the Great I AM! He is all that I (or you) need in that love of His, a grace with much mercy and peace. It is all about living for Him, and living in such a way others will notice. And if they know not my name, they will know His because that is how we live for Him, to make Him known, that in Him we live,  move,  and have our being in Him. It is all the right moves and actions from the Father of whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Light be in my life (your life) concerning diet, that new way of eating, that new routine for exercise and that all important time with Him the Lord of glory. Thank you Lord for the light that reveals those dark things that must be stripped away to run the race YOU have set before us. Today WE run in His name and to His glory, we are thoroughly determined to be set in being disciplined. Yes, Amen to discipline!

An Hysterical Marker

In the early part of this morning, I was remembering these long walks my husband and I would take when we lived in rural Wyoming. We lived in area much like where we live today, but the main road through the tiny hamlet allowed people to walk on the wide shoulder of a very wide two lane road. We had moved to the area when our daughter was about to turn nine years old. We had lived what was considered "town" with all the major attractions like MacDonald's and a K-Mart.
Living out and away from the "congested" part of town and the crossroads to America, we liked the quiet life in the country community. Our walks took us out to the historical marker outside of the tiny hamlet. It was exactly a six mile walk and in that we could easily claim the 12 mile accomplished in about an hours time.
While my husband worked, I remained home to see our daughter was on the bus for her ride to the next little hamlet for school. When the breakfast dishes had been cleaned up and the beds made, I would suit up for a cold brisk walk with two lady friends to that historical marker. So, regularly I was marking out a path of exercise to keep my body healthy.
On our drive out of the "tiny hamlet" one day, not long after we had moved there, our daughter exclaimed we were passing that "hysterical marker". I corrected her, speaking out loud "historical marker." She asked what the difference was in the two words.
Trying to turn toward her from the front seat, I explained the difference. My husband just laughed quietly, but I continued on with explaining the difference.
The meaning of hysterical is out of control emotions. Can produce crying in this extreme emotion of a person. It was noted as "uncontrollable". Also listed as in a situation in which many people behave or react in an extreme or uncontrolled way because of fear, anger, etc.

The meaning for "historical" is this: belonging to or a typical study of history. Concerned with events of the past, based on factual material distinct from legend or supposition. Relating to some event marked at a location to show some prominence to a specific occurrence, people involved, etc.

From that day on, we would pass by "that marker" and refer to it as an hysterical marker.

Now the MARKER in question was set for the area of the Tongue River. It had served as a trail and stage coach road crossing. It was known as the Bozeman Trail and it was a road, if you please, that took man to the Montana gold fields. It had its beginnings in 1864. This well-planned effort had to cut through Powder River Basin. Oh yes, and it certainly violated the Fort Laramie Treaties which was held originally as tribal land for the Northern Plain Tribes.
It was under the leadership of a James A. Sawyers to build the road to Montana. There was upheaval, and the Araphao tribe brought in a "war party" to stop the Sawyer's encampment. But progress continued. Yes, that Trail came into being as General Patrick Connor took to his orders readily. Military protection had to come and keep some kind of peace.
It was between 1879 through the year of 1895 that a post office appeared. Yeah, wonder who delivered the mail? Probably the Pony Express delivered it!
Then the stage line station served the Rock Creek Stage Line. It was some 400 mile line that ran from the location of Rock Creek on the U.P.Railroad in southern Wyoming to Billings, Montana.
It served the people till 1890 when a variety of much shorter stage routes had come into existence. You know people scout out the quicker, yes the faster way to get from point A to point B. And its days came to an end.
In respect to those who knew the land as home, they came into some emotional and probably hysterical pain of tears and most likely death. What had been given them changed to accommodate the one holding more power.

We find a "marker" set by God when He went with the people. Read here in Exodus 13.

Exodus 13:17-22
17 Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, "Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt." 18 So God led the people around by way of the wilderness of the Red Sea. And the children of Israel went up in orderly ranks out of the land of Egypt. 19 And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for he had placed the children of Israel under solemn oath, saying, "God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here with you." 20 So they took their journey from Succoth and camped in Etham at the edge of the wilderness. 21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. 22 He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people.   NKJV

That pillar of a cloud marked that God was with His people. He was their guard both in front and from the rear.

Exodus 14:19-20
19 And the Angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them. 20 So it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Thus it was a cloud and darkness to the one, and it gave light by night to the other, so that the one did not come near the other all that night.  NKJV

Oh yes, the opportunity to step into some uncharted territory and obey God with a loud"yes"  brings me past the "hysterical" marker. When responding to God, do we find ourselves still dealing with old patterns of thinking? Is it possible we hold onto those old patterns out of security?
God had taken these people the long way around. Yes, they could have gotten to the place planned for them, but God had to test hearts, and any battle for some is found in their weakness to submit to the old ways. But as believer's with a real trust in God must change, and grow up in Christ. God wants to enlarge our capacity to work with Him. Remember He is God! You cannot put Him in a box!

These people who had seen God do the miraculous and freed them from that slave driven force of Pharaoh, now faced a more hideous schemer, the one located between the two ears of every believer. We should sincerely be God focused.........with a lazer ability to keep and know Him to keep with what He has planned for us.
But returning to "old patterns" of thinking, the focus shifts to "security". And sometimes it is because the man or woman fears. Instead of FAITH, doubt takes over, the man or woman then is limited in an ability to step into what God has called them to.

The signs and wonders of the past can actually hinder our future if we righteously cling to them! We require no "stage coach" lines today. We can get from point A to point B in just minutes with all that horse-power under the hood. And you can see some get really "angered" and see road rage take over a person just while driving from Point A to Point B.

God our Father is not limited, nor is He weak or tottering for His last breath. He is God Almighty. He is the Everlasting Father and the Amen to our situations. Our security should reside in Him and not in another person or thing. When we hold onto things to keep our position, or security, we will find out one day, that a whole life wasted on just being secure was not worth it. A life devoted God brings us to a new adventure and a fruitfulness that He is pleased with. Our faith is to expand just like Jesus' did. His trust was not in things or keeping His position secure, it was about giving everything over to the Father. Our identity must be in Him!

What God had provided as manna and the pillar of His presence will still be with us. The giants we face is not the other person, but our belief in who they are to us and if they have come to take away our security. It is what we desire to hold on to instead of reaching to touch other lives because of Him. If we are not bringing attention to him, then why not?

Everyone has a significant role to play in this adventure. It is time to put away that which is not beneficial to growth in the Lord. That anti-christ does not care how long you take to get yourself moving for God. In fact, you could probably take all your life to get ready, but we should be acting now and taking action requires no baggage on board.
God is for us. He is not against us. He has done all He was going to do. Now He waits to see what we will do.
Will we make a mark of historical value for the kingdom of God or will be just an "hysterical" marker of one living out of the emotions and falling short in security? Today we decide.

THE Competitive SIDE

Jesus was never about competing for attention!
He never talked in the city gates about Himself!
No, He was about speaking of His Father.
Interesting was that the disciples focused on His comments and His heart concerning His passion of what would occur in the days and weeks ahead of Him, concerning His first given word on His coming crucifixion.

Matthew 16:21-28
21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day. 22 Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, "Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!" 23 But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men."

24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. 28 Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom."   NKJV

As I meditate this passage, and the passage of Matthew 20:20-28
the disciples had a view of the kingdom which was not the view Jesus was relating to them. People desire to be number 1! They want their name known around the world, live in fancy surroundings that is spelled out in palaces, millions of dollars, and more material stuff that you need or require a storage unit to store all the "stuff".
Too many times, people only look for the "stuff" Jesus can get to them and their own fame and glory and then never consider what price He paid for us to have salvation in His Name.!

That suffering in His Name most would like to AVOID. They consider those Words of suffering, of trouble and Refiner's fire as FIGHTING WORDS.
YIKES!
But what we do for and in His Name is higher. He serve and He gave!
What an amazing life!

 Matthew 20:20-28
20 Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came to Him with her sons, kneeling down and asking something from Him. 21 And He said to her, "What do you wish?" She said to Him, "Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on the left, in Your kingdom." 22 But Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able." 23 So He said to them, "You will indeed drink My cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father." 24 And when the ten heard it, they were greatly displeased with the two brothers. 25 But Jesus called them to Himself and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. 26 Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. 27 And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave-- 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."    NKJV

Yes, that competitive side of the male came into being. The mother of Zebedee's sons came to him asking for favor for them to seated with Him in His kingdom. Many people want that royal seat to be FRONT and CENTER yet few are willing to pay the price in study, in prayer and in the RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD  to see that occur.

But Jesus' heart was the Father's glory and not His own. His was to do the will of His Father. The FRONT ROW SEAT was THE CROSS!

In this valued testimony written for our benefits, I think on the game of golf.
I am no golfer other than miniature golf. So when my husband and daughter play I am in awe how anyone can keep up with that tiny "very white" ball.  Our daughter desires the fluorescent  colored balls so she can keep a clear watch on where "it" flies and where it might land!

In that game, and the clear cut of grass, one would certainly want to stay out of the trees, the waterways, and the areas that are not within the playing area. Yeah, stay out of the rough!

In watching, I am amazed how the ball can fly so high and fall to the ground and roll and roll and roll! The terrain you hit that ball in and toward, will determine the balls outcome. The point you know is to get that teeny ball down the length of the green in very few strokes of the club and then down that ball into that hole that the flag beckons you too!
In and around these areas, from teeing off to finding the ball on the edge of the well manicured green, you find in some instances that "sand trap". Considered bad and the dangerous area, the sand trap is where well meaning, (good) people lose their cool. Although my gang here does not go into the sand traps yet they manage that ball to keep it out of that sandy mess, but close by that sand area.

Our lives can look like a golf tourney. Our lives can have many people on board, around and just observing. As they view life, ours is living it. In the moving down the green, we certainly pray and believe knowing our trust is in God and that He is with us. In that we continue, from hole 1 to hole 2, then hole 3.
By the 9th, the issues become apparent. That need to get that ball down to where that flag waves definitely in the breeze mocks one as they try their best to do that hard putt. Now some see it as a challenge, some see it as joy and others just see it as a few hours riding around in the golf cart watching all the other golfers, mince, lose their balls, roll their eyes, see those cute carts go past you on a one lane pathway as they qualify for the Indy 500.............. because you are either too slow either by no practice, or some practice. If we saw the golf game like with another hole to get "my flag" raised would not mean much. We certainly like those times when the ball goes into that round hole and the experience on the next hole takes on the new hope, the new adventure of being master over a tiny ball. Yes life can look like that golf course, hidden there within are the sand traps, the grove of trees, that standing water filled full and with those cat-tails and mosquitoes. Yeah what fun, right?

When Jesus told His disciples what was to occur, they balked in such a way, that Jesus rebuked Peter for getting in His way and the plan that was set by the Father. We should not be alluded into thinking all our days are coming up roses when being saved. Roses have thorns!

Jesus spoke this in John 17:25-26
25 O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me. 26 And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them."  NKJV

Jesus prayed.

In John 17 and verses 6 and 26….the Greek word for Name is onoma. When Jesus spoke this: He was speaking the authority, the character, the very majesty, and the power of His very excellence which belongs to God. He was expanding and advancing God’s name on the earth and in the earth.
In His prayer to God He said this: “I have manifested Your authority, Your character, Your very majesty, Your very power and excellence has been given to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.

When we can see with our spiritual eyes and understand in our hearts that being united with the Father is not about competition with others. Being united with the Father presents to us the opportunity to participate with the Son as the Son did with the Father. How much more should we expect to see His glory and His majesty to be declared  through our voice?

If one has a VOICE it is because God our Father has given them His wisdom to speak, to teach and to declare.

Playing golf will take you around the green, the well-manicured and the smooth. Still other places will take you across the sand trap, down into the well filled ditches of water and cat-tails. And in other places, the trees just blot out the sun, the leaves hide the ball and you are forever searching in all the debris that accumulates around those out of the way places. Still if we would consider that our life is mapped out. Just like Jesus, He was walking toward crucifixion and death. He was going to die at the hands of those He came to save. We can get into sand traps, end up looking into the tree grove for the teeny white ball and yet come out with a cut on the hand, dried leaf attached to the shoe lace and some kind of spider crawling down the arm of your jacket.
Keeping God and His Word is evident when we declare it to others. The place you will be seated.....well, it comes with a price. It is just in relationship with the Father and many do not want to take the time. They are the busy, bogged down in the sand trap, held down by devices that were never meant to hurt, stop or kill.
In competition, the measuring is done wrong. For those in His kingdom, that measuring is that plumb to check out if our hearts are filled completely with His righteousness. The rightful place will not just be given, but handed to the one who suffered for Christ and for the Name that SAVES.
Jesus WAS NOT HUMAN ENDORSED.
HIS DIVINITY WAS OF GOD!

He voiced the Father, and raised the awareness that heaven had come to earth.
Jesus did not elevate Himself. In leaders that prove their handicap in hate, Jesus walked amid the treachery. His disciples proved their competitive side, and Judas.......well, he wanted the kingly rule now with money, palaces, and royalty.

I know those who value Jesus and all that He spoke and did about the Father should be our example. For those who value Him will rise and be seated with Him. Those who lightly esteem or value Him will reside elsewhere.
Many try to jockey for positions in His kingdom. He gave His gifts to men. We are to know what we are anointed to do. If prayer, then pray. Prayer is never wasted time, it always speaks to the Father and of His glory. And like Jesus spoke, "Holy Father".....He touched heaven to change where He was born, lived, and died.

Jesus did it with humility.May we see that the power and the scope of His teaching was truth and gained Him favor with God and with man!

A SIGN AND A WONDER OR DRUG DEALER?

Should we not be a sign and wonder to those we come in contact with in our daily lives? Should people not see that we speak differently, act differently and do not carry the fear factor?

Great trials were put upon the Hebrew nation when they were under the rule of Pharaoh. And the LORD God reminded them of it!
This He spoke:
Deuteronomy 7:7-9, 11-21
The Lord did not set His love upon you and choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the fewest of all people. 8 But because the Lord loves you and because He would keep the oath which He had sworn to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9 Know, recognize, and understand therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, Who keeps covenant and steadfast love and mercy with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations.
11 You shall therefore keep and do the instruction, laws, and precepts which I command you this day. 12 And if you harken to these precepts and keep and do them, the Lord your God will keep with you the covenant and the steadfast love which He swore to your fathers. 13 And He will love you, bless you, and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your body and the fruit of your land, your grain, your new wine, and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the young of your flock in the land which He swore to your fathers to give you. 14 You shall be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle. 15 The Lord will take away from you all sickness, and none of the evil diseases of Egypt which you knew will He upon on you, but will lay them upon all who hate you. 16 And you shall consume all the peoples whom the Lord your God will give over to you; your eye shall not pity them, neither shall you serve their gods, for that would be a snare to you. 17 If you say in your [minds and] hearts, These nations are greater than we are; how can we dispossess them? 18 You shall not be afraid of them, but remember [earnestly] what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt. 19 The great trials which your eyes saw, the signs, the wonders, the mighty hand and the outstretched arm by which the Lord your God brought you out, So shall the Lord your God do to all the people of whom you are afraid. 20 Moreover the Lord your God will send the hornet among them until those who are left and hide themselves from you are destroyed. 21 You shall not dread them; for the Lord your God is among you, a mighty and terrible God. Amplified Bible

In that day and time, there were nations wanting more land and more power. They traveled to conquer others. They went prepared to go out with military might to take down and remove any who got in their way.
But the Lord cares for those who are His own. He cherishes with great love and though trials come, our trust is to be in Him.
In truth that still exists today. Oh no, you will not see them march across the desert with their leaders on the finest horse or camel. But they still exist today. Today they come selling their wares on the airwaves of the television:that big screen showing their wares for certain!

God was telling them not to remember of the defeat they experienced in the land, but for them to remember the signs and wonders by His Hand that brought them out of Egypt and out of bondage!

There are those who accept things that the world hands out. We are to be in the world, but not of it, right? John 17:14
14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.  NIV
The Lord God spoke to His people to say the great trials which your eyes saw, the signs, the wonders, the mighty hand and the outstretched arm by which the Lord your God brought you out, So shall the Lord your God do to all the people of whom you are afraid.
Now medical advancement has made great strides in bringing new strategies that help those who cannot walk without help of "the artificial leg" or the artificial arm or hand for use in everyday living life. And praise the Lord for His goodness. We have seen great strides forward in those areas of those who have gone through kidney transplants, and bone marrow transplants. For those of the bone marrow kind must remain away from people and their diseases (like cold, flu, and the such) for sometime and the robot has come on scene to help those youth in the area of their school work!

Sin played a big role in that of pharaoh in Egypt. He worshiped the river, and he got frogs, millions of them. For what people worship, they will gain millions of problems like pharaoh. Pharaoh, the king of Egypt had no regard for the God of the Hebrew nation. He regarded those Egyptian gods and with each he regarded highly came to him in the form of a plague. It was each plague that carried out to show God was the "only true God" and the Egyptian gods and their pharaoh were powerless before Him.

Everyday if we spend anytime watching a football game, a favorite "who done it" type mystery or even a kids' movie on a made for children TV station, one is inundated, yes swamped, downright bogged down into that which is regarded as the "next best medicine", the next best "cure" on the market. "Call about it today", is their request.  Are we the sign and wonder or just the drug dealer who deals out that which brings harm?
There was a day when "drug dealers" were hunted down and put in jail or prison, but today it is broadcast into every living room in America. We certainly try to record that which we desire to watch and go past that which deals "drugs" into the home at least every 5 of 13 commercials between the maybe 13 minutes of a show or mystery, detective type show you watch. Did you count them at Christmas time? Yikes!

Deuteronomy 7:25-26
25 You shall burn the carved images of their gods with fire; you shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, lest you be snared by it; for it is an abomination to the LORD your God. 26 Nor shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for it is an accursed thing. NKJV

We are to watch over our heart with all diligence. We are to visit those scriptures and passages Jesus spoke about and did all for the glory of God. When we take for ourselves those things that are an abomination to us, we become the doomed. Not because we do not love God, but because a snare was put on the body of the believer. What we put before our eyes can be that "hook" that will pull you in little by little, till you are trapped. Ask any who have been healed of taking drugs for many years. Our Father is one who is to be recognized and that we are to know and understand that He is love, and He is the faithful. He desires the good for us.
There is no sickness in heaven so why should we so readily receive sickness here? And everyday there is another virus, and another strain of something for sin is still rampant, right?
When something does come your way, is it easier to just go to the Dr. or is it in the best interest first to consult God on the matter? Is faith geared toward the Dr. than for what God has already done for you through His Son Jesus?

Following the Lord and His direction, will keep us close to hear HIM speak about such things. He gives us the measure of faith to trust Him, but do we activate our faith toward His speaking, and His truth or into that which the world advertises for your good like: that new car, that new house, that new truck that you must have. Certainly we have need of transportation, but some folks just need to move closer to their job and not the 2 hour commute that seems to have been going on for decades now.

Those that followed Pharaoh, the king of Egypt followed him into a great and tragic death. Moses did not pity him and he was not about to serve his gods, those things that pharaoh took pleasure in.
The nation of pharmaceuticals is making money by the ship loads from those who do not know how to dispossess them. And much we can do today, is to look for better ways of eating healthier and caring for our bodies like exercise and drinking plenty of water. There are times one must have a vaccination due to low immunity, but always seek God first and to His plan for you! He cares and wants to be involved in your healthcare!

Our Father wants you around for a long time to declare His goodness to you, so that you will declare it to others. Will we tell others about Jesus and His life for us through His death on the Cross or are we more likely to talk about the latest new "drug fad"?
Yes, a lesson indeed is learned here, when we know trials and tribulations can come to hurt the body, but taking something that can cause a million and one other problems, is like having Pharaoh as your leader, which leads to destruction.
Proverbs 4:23-27
23 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.
24 Put away from  you a deceitful mouth, and put perverse lips far from you.
25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you.
26 Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established.
27 Do not turn to the right or to the left; remove your foot from evil. NKJV

Father, in Jesus name, we stand "our watch in prayer" today against that which desires to hook us into that which can kill. That is against Your plan to make us a nation which follows God and gives voice to His glory. It is our prayer today to have the healthful body that comes from our diligence of seeking out the right healthy foods and to drink plenty of water, and have the hours of sleep we need each night.
Help us Holy Spirit to guard that which tries comes into our homes. Help us and lead us away from that which will be destruction to us and our families. We pray today that wisdom is found on our lips who has understanding that You our Father is God and no one else. We do not desire any other "gods" in our lives. As we look toward tomorrow, may our steps be established in that which is truth and safety for us and our children and their children. May we be those who always seek Your guidance first in prayer and time with You before grabbing that next best thing the world may offer.
Help us to see those who just want to lead but have no experience with You. Help us to see those who are after our hurt for their gain. We believe our feet are removed from evil today. Thank You Lord for Your goodness today. We glorify Your name. May we be a sign and wonder to those who walk this way through the world and may they see and know we as the different and the wise who have One God, One Creator and His Name is Jehovah, our Stronghold in the time of trouble (tribulation).(Psalm 37:39).

Who Has the LAST WORD in My Life?

In any given situation, who has the last word in my life? In the blog title: HIGH RISK! you can certainly see how quickly things change, and how if we should respond when we do have the Word of God in us!
What determines how we will react to the "bad report" or even a really BAD REPORT?
I believe most people think that "bad things" happen to other people! I believe most go through life thinking that the bad will not touch them, because they have Jesus. But in truth, rain falls on the just as well as the unjust. (verse 45)

Matthew 5:43-48
43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'  44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.    NKJV

Was thinking about this very thing in the last week. I thought of the infusions I have had and hopefully done with them, and how getting back to exercise is foremost in my thinking. I have always loved working out, either by skating long hours, running,  or going on those 6 mile walks. And of the latest report from the Dr. was that she was glad to see my weight coming to normal and exercising to keep my immune system in proper working order.
In thinking about this, I got to thinking how I had already had implemented a program of exercise many years ago into my life. You can certainly ask our daughter or even my husband. I always sought strength in my body and that included being able to get the heart to work like it should and keep my body healthy.
Implementing a change of eating right foods starts before we have that "illness" that brings you either to your knees or to the bed. Eating right foods, exercising, and drinking those 6-8 glasses of water begin when we desire change for health and not for sickness. Years ago, after the birth of our first grand-child, our daughter and son-in-law gave us this wonderful Image.....treadmill. It is for that 10,000 steps program. I use it now everyday. But did not use it regularly at the beginning, as I could not figure out why some days I had strength, and other days I had fatigue. Of course, today we know why, but then I was puzzled about it, because I surely liked getting the amount of exercise I needed everyday to stay in optimum  health.

It was a choice!
I then thought of those who say "they will give a million dollars into some ministry" when they win the lottery! Well, if you do not give now into any ministry, how will that change when you get that million dollars?  Because if you choose to hear what happens to those who gain those "millions" you will find that most of them are: either dead today because of someone gaining their trust to get at those millions or said winner could not balance a check-book at the beginning of said win of millions, so they could not keep up with what they had .............AND SPENT IT ALL! (and one could go through all those millions when they have someone helping them to spend it on "nothing" that brings life........but death!)
And then too, you find all those "relatives" who show up that you did not know you even had at the time of said win.

Yes, it is a choice!
In that place within walking distance of the hospital in the city, there is a place many people go to get their infusions. Many though are there for that chemo thing.  Those going through the hour to several hours of infusions take time for those sick with something they cannot see. I was there, but not for any chemo anything. But I saw them, talked to some, and especially the nurses. It is a place I believe many people did not plan on visiting ever in their lives. They are different ethnicity, certainly speak a different language, and some need interpreters. They are of many different age groups!   Some were just quiet, some were very vocal, and some......well, they had a joy that comes only from the Lord. One, we saw, was a man taking calls from his church and was about the bulletin for the church that had to be ready for a service. This man was probably seventy, acted like he was thirty..........and had this chemo therapy..........got on his way to do what needed to be done. I really believe he was the "pastor". He had joy in his heart, was always kind with every word he spoke and with every movement of his body...........he glowed with life. I expect him to have a long life filled with the presence of God in everything he does for His kingdom that has come.

We should certainly hate sickness and know that God did not bring cancer on anyone. We should also know that God is aware of our every circumstance. He is also aware how we will act in and through a really BAD CIRCUMSTANCE. Yes, rain will fall on the just (the righteous) and the unjust (the wicked).........but we choose how we will stand, fall or just give in to being sick.  We choose today how we will act tomorrow. I want to be found with those who have faith to put trust in life everlasting........in Jesus who came to give to us abundantly above what we can ask or think.

From the blog: High Risk!

In receiving Jesus, we are regenerated into life and out of death. As we put on the "New Man" and being renewed in our minds to God's Word and His ways and thoughts, we come out of the grave of death, and defeat and move into the realm of Victory and are people who live by faith with trust in our God!
It is taking God's Word on healing, and raise the standard of our health. When we have sought out His word on healing as for salvation, our condition changes. WE reach forward by faith to receive what we are expecting!
It is a daily walk and receiving that Word that will build us up to receive that which we are expecting.

David said of the Lord; My times are in Your hand;” (Psalm 31: 15). Times” here means in the Hebrew; event, experiences, fortunes, occurrences, occasions, permanency, continuing future, ancient (used of past time), forever (used of future time; used of continuous existence)..forever (used of God's existence)

We are a mist, a moment in time, and all of our times are in His hand. All of my future and all of your future conditions, any occurrences are known to Him. It is so vital to stay close to the Creator, the one true God!

Who has the last Word in my life? Well, the Father Who created me and I have what Jesus died to give me on the Cross. And with the Holy Spirit I rise out of the tomb to live the life Jesus died for. I am regenerated into life. They get the LAST WORD IN MY LIFE!  and not me..........

If we will heed His instructions and follow His plan for our lives, we cannot miss the mark. We can be the victorious, and see our lives healthier and whole. Making those needed changes can add years to our lives and help us live in His glory! PLEASE ............stand with me today and believe for the best in your life, and in your body. Those changes are important and they can be done to ensure you finish that race He has for you to run. Amen!

Cable Butler

Anyone like a good movie to watch on a cloudy and rainy afternoon?
What about a good mystery of "who done it" type involving about ten people and they all seem like the "bad guy"?
What about a movie of someone dealing with an illness? No! Well, how about the "Avengers"? Too much action for you, well, how about a movie for the younger generation like something called "Ice Age"?
No, can't do the animation type thing?

How about grabbing the "cable butler" and let him lead you over the channels available to you from the service you pay for?
If you do that for very long, frustration can set in! You can find the channel finder exposing what the world sees as entertainment. How about ghosts today or some zombie flick? NO! How about another shark movie? How about another "mummy type" movie? NO!
What else is on? Well, the history channel sometimes has some informative things of the past generations, we could look at that for awhile. There is something about UFO's on as well!
What about the news channel? What about the Travel Channel? Have you seen that channel, you know, the one on all those fancy pools being built? Was wondering if any were being built in California. A thought of pools and all that water needed to fill a pool and with a water shortage going right now in California would seem just wrong, would it not?

Yes, the Cable Butler is there to guide you into T.V. paradise, mummies and all! Looking for the packages of the Youth, or those packaged for R. , the Cable Butler, that handy little remote control, will take you where you desire to go visit!

aah, but .....we have apps for free T. V. and movies. Wow! Awesome. You will get there even faster.  Is it possible that Cable Butler can get us into trouble or even those free apps for phone users wanting to catch a  T. V. series and movies?
Yes, gazing for hours into that "wide screen" or your little phone screen, can certainly make you feel at home away from the theaters.

Yes, we have cruise control in that handy Cable Butler!
But what moments are we missing by gazing at the "wide screen"? Is it possible that which we are viewing could change our course forever, or even for some time? What are we allowing to broadcast into our homes and into our hearts that might stop our walk with God? This is just a question, okay?

We are told that a "table is prepared" for each of us in the presence of our enemies. That means the adversary knows what is ahead on the path for each of us. He has spent thousands of years getting to understand the "human" and see how he operates. We saw what happened when he went to Eve and that all transpired to living out of the garden of Eden to working for a living, tilling the ground, and ultimately see that we needed a Savior.

Psalm 23:5........5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.  NKJV

enemies: tsarar pronounced- (tsaw-rar'.....meaning to cramp.
Other meanings: to shut up, to distress, to bind up, trouble

Have you ever tried running as your form of exercise? It can take some time, and you start out slow. You can ask my daughter about that one. When she was in Jr. High and High School, I ran some for exercise. I had started out slow, and she would go with me. She would ride her bike and make some blocks and come back to check on me. Sometimes she would stay with me and we would talk, but mostly she liked the hills and loved riding as fast and furious as she could on those high hills that surrounded our neighborhood.

Once in awhile, when running, I would notice a cramp in my calf muscle.  I would find my warm -ups needed to be lengthened before walking out the front door. So I found relief from the cramp thing by spending more time warming up and stretching. Then after more weeks passing, the cramp returned, but now was at night. So looking for more relief, vitamin E came to the rescue.
The thought here is that running the race, we require a need for some space, some equipping in good running shoes, some preparation like stretching, and of course, some right eating as in a good diet with all the good vegetables and wholesome meats like chicken and fish as part of that preparation for a race.
Remember what Paul wrote:

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 .....................24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. 25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. 26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. 27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.      NKJV

People watch us daily. We have opportunity to minister life to them. Just like Paul spoke about, we have to discipline this body as to not become disqualified for that which God called us. And everyone is called to something specific as the Body of Christ!  It takes discipline to prepare to do something God has for us to do. So am I taking in the right things to minister the life that Jesus gave His life for to see us with Him forever? What am I allowing to 'broadcast' into my heart that should not have an opening ever into my heart?

In 1 Corinthians 9 and verse 25, we are told to run in such a way that is temperate in all things. Hummm......temperate. What has being temperate have to do with running a race?
temperate:egkarateuomai and is pronounced (eng-krat-yoo'-om-ahee) to exercise in being self-restrained and in chastity.

When we look that word chastity up, it brings up both marriage and crimes.
Interesting that Paul talked about running as one being self-controlled and chaste. In looking up chaste, we find,  morally pure in conduct and thought. So running a race, of which God has placed for us, involves being morally pure in both conduct and thought. Reasonable and discreet also sum up being temperate or self-controlled.

Titus 2...............2:1 But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: 2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; 3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things-- 4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed. 6 Likewise exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, 8 sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you. 9 Exhort bond servants to be obedient to their own masters, to be well pleasing in all things, not answering back, 10 not pilfering, but showing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.    11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. 15 Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you. NKJV

Yes, we find that word temperate and chaste found in verses 2 and 5 of this passage of scripture.

2 Timothy 4:1-8................4:1 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

6  For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.   NKJV

What we remember about Paul before his name change, was that he harassed Christians. He spoke threats against them and then chased them down!  Reading about him in the book of Acts and chapter 9, we find him getting letters from the high priest to officials in the synagogues. He wanted to bring those following Jesus bound to Jerusalem. But what stopped Saul in his tracks against someone else?

Acts 9:1-10............9:1 Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest 2 and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. 3 And as he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. 4 Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" 5 And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" And the Lord said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads." 6 So he, trembling and astonished, said, "Lord, what do You want me to do?" And the Lord said to him, "Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do." 7 And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no one. 8 Then Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened he saw no one. But they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. 9 And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.   NKJV

Now Saul who became Paul, was raised as a Pharisee. He was in memorization of the LAW some eight hours a day when he was some 3-4 years old. He knew how to be a Pharisee and to operate there. They took of what was from the Word we know as the first 5 books, The Law!
But Jesus desired Saul to move into a place to minister and that was TO those outside, those Gentiles, yes, it was the rest of the world!
Paul tells us of his soon departure. He had fought a good fight of faith. He told us that he had finished his race .....(2 Timothy 4:7)... 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

Paul had to contend against an adversary who wanted his attention somewhere else. Paul had to labor fervently to finish what he knew God had given him to do in this life.
The enemy certainly put a "cramp" in that which Paul was doing before Jesus came and spoke to him on the road to Damascus.
Did Paul know a lot about the books of the Law? He surely did! Do we think we know all that we need to run the race set before us? Paul told us he had to keep the faith he had for what he believed. He told us that he kept the faith and it is that which he had to watch and guard!
have kept: tereo (tay-reh'-o) to watch, to guard from loss

Titus 2:8 mentions that shame should come on the opponent, the one who opposes us. So in all this, we are to run like Paul ran when he got the "right course" set for him to run. We are to keep the faith by keeping guard of it, and as we keep watch of that faith, we move toward the victory line, that prize as those who are self-controlled and chaste.

As in preparing to "take a run" for exercise, we should also consider how we are running this race before us. Are we on the right path? Are we staying within the parameters that God has set for us? Are we taking up other things like the "Cable Butler" and feeding our hearts with too much other stuff of the world? We should consider what and how much do we take in on a regular basis. God surely wants us to enjoy life, but not give our souls into hell while enjoying too much of a good thing, we think we deserve.

Father, thank You for the examples of those who ran their race for You and have received their crowns of righteousness. Truly those who have gone ahead of us and stayed their course have their victor's crown. We pray for the patience and the courage to keep running the course You have set for each of us. We pray over decision-making as to what we put before our eye-gate. We know there are probably hundreds of choices that are not life-altering. But some may be life-altering to the plan You have set for us to run. Today, we stand on the Word that You will teach us in the way we should go; and that You will counsel us with Your eye upon us. (Psalm 32:8) We are thankful for Your wisdom today and it will guide us in decision making for this day. Today we expect to have those hearts that are counseled by You in our time together. Father, we pray to be those who will display Your goodness, mercy and transforming power to others. We pray to be obedient at every spoken word You give to us. Help us when we feel like the going is hard. Help us know Your truth concerning YOUR will for our lives. We know You have good things for us.....help us, build within us that fire that never goes out, but will accomplish what YOU destined us to do for YOU in this life. In Jesus' name we pray and believe our best days are ahead for victory in YOU. Amen.
