Choosing Humility Will Produce Astonishment in Others

Humility was expressed in Jesus : Matthew 13:54-58… NKJV 54 & when He had come to His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished & said, "Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works? 55 Is this not the carpenter's son? Is not His mother called Mary? & His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? 56 & His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?" 57 So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own country & in his own house." 58 Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

As unbelief, not trusting in God causes us to not hear. Harboring anger, resentment, jealousy and un-forgiveness causes the fruit to develop deafness or the hardness of our hearts. A spirit of deafness, an insensitivity,  is one of hardness and refuses to comply to the Word of God. (from Preparing to Hear)

**The people of his hometown knew him so well, being puzzled by His wisdom and His works done in God……they were going to hold Him in their own eyes as they knew Him, the carpenter’s son and in….that they rather cling to ignorance. The people in which He knew as neighbors, had no real need for healing or anything else.  They did not recognize Who He was & they held NO VALUE FOR HIM!

·         In His wisdom: Jesus spoke in Matthew 7:24-29….24 "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, & does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 & the rain descended, the floods came, & the winds blew & beat on that house; & it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 Now everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, & does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 & the rain descended, the floods came, & the winds blew & beat on that house; & it fell. & great was its fall." 28 & so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, 29 for He taught them as one having authority, & not as the scribes.  NKJV  the scribes were echoing what they had heard …possibly boring and without power, but Jesus spoke with intensity, passion and power. He had authority in the situation

·         Christ’s works (3913) John 10:25-30…… 25 Jesus answered them, "I told you, & you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father's name, they bear witness of Me. 26 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. 27 My sheep hear My voice, & I know them, & they follow Me. 28 & I give them eternal life, & they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; & no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. 30 I & My Father are one." NKJV

Bearing witness of Me..Jesus was bearing a good report of the Father God…..

Jesus held not as an echo but a TRUE VOICE!

James 3:9-18 Amplified Bible…………….9 With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse men who were made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come forth blessing and cursing. These things, my brethren, ought not to be so. 11 Does a fountain send forth [simultaneously] from the same opening fresh water and bitter?

12 Can a fig tree, my brethren bear olives or a grapevine figs? Neither can a salt spring furnish fresh water. 13 Who is there among you who is wise & intelligent? Then let him by his noble living show forth his [good] works with the [un-obstrusive] humility [which is the proper attribute] of true wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry) selfish ambition in your hearts, do not pride yourselves on it & thus be in defiance of and false to the Truth.

A person with the heart intent of envy, rivalry, that selfishness will be found in pride with lies. Everything he touches will be the “FALSE”, THE PHONEY, THE FAKE... WILL NOT BE REAL.

15 This [superficial] wisdom is not such as comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual (animal, even devilish (demonical). 16 For wherever there is jealousy (envy) & contention (rivalry & selfish ambition) there will also be confusion (unrest, disharmony, rebellion) & all sorts of evil and vile practices. 17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure (undefiled) then it is peace-loving, courteous (considerate, gentle). [It is willing to] yield to reason, full of compassion & good fruits: it is wholehearted & straightforward, impartial & unfeigned (free from doubts, wavering & insincerity).  It is God’s Word that propels us into TRUTH…..

18 And the harvest of righteousness (of conformity to God’s will in thought and deed) is [the fruit of the seed] sown in peace by those who work for and make peace [in themselves and in others, that peace which means concord, agreement and harmony between individuals with un-disturbedness in a peaceful mind free from fears and agitating passions & moral conflicts.

C - 1: εἰρηνικός  James 3:17..is peace…without this peace….of God you will have no wisdom of
God.

When Jesus prayed, and met with people, lives were changing. In Jesus’ time and as in today’s culture, the world sees the “wise man” as one who will live for the moment, always living by sight, and is devoted to self.   For Jesus, His own neighbors rejected Him. They saw interruption in their lifestyle, in their own thinking, but chose to carry on in their unbelief. The Sadducees’ did as did the Pharisees! Ego will kill you! Some people just want to be right all the time. But we cannot be that way ….we must have God guiding us with His eye. Certainly those who were astonished also became those who were ready to kill Him. They wanted Jesus gone however they had to do it. But truth ruled Jesus’ life. The truth of God carried Him to the Cross and then to the right hand of God in Heaven.

In closing: His prayer time brought power, looked like grace, and caused reactions. In His teaching  the EXTREME was heard, His prayer was for ADVANCEMENT OF THE KINGDOM!

Jesus’ Prayer: John 17:3….(3)& this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, & Jesus Christ whom You have sent. Advancement of the kingdom.

John 17:6  .(6) "I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.

John 17:11…(11) Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, & I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.

John 17:26 ...(26) And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them."  NKJV

THE IMPORTANCE in this prayer was that   Jesus spoke what He spent His ministry revealing to us about God His Father. It is in this, that He keeps us through His name, both by our trusting in what it means & by the evidence revealed by living this life in obedience!  This obedience to fellowship, communion, God’s Word in teaching & prayer gives us VOICE!

In John 17 & verses 6 & 26….the Greek word for Name is onoma. When Jesus spoke this: He was speaking God’s  authority, His character, His  very majesty, & the power of His excellence which belongs to God HIMSELF. Jesus was expanding & advancing God’s name on the earth & in the earth.

When we can see with our eyes & understand in our hearts that being united with the Father presents to us the opportunity to participate with the Son as the Son did with the Father, how much more should we expect to see the astonishment in the faces of those God is touching by His presence in us? Before we go to participate out there, we should have the intimate time to know our Father’s heart.

Father, like Jesus spoke in John 17, I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Jesus through this word given. That they all may be one as You, Father are in Jesus & in me, that the world may believe You sent Jesus. The glory which You gave Jesus I have given  them, that they may be one just as We are one.(John 17:20-23)   Father, thank you for bringing health & healing revealed in Your peace & truth. Captives have been set free to pray.  Thank You for salvation!  For all Your goodness & prosperity You provide, may it be to YOU God a name of joy, praise & an honor before all nations of the earth who hear all the good that You do to them. May they fear & tremble before You in humility knowing that hypocrisy is far & away from You. May we be that voice to carry Your glory forward.

For those who abide in You will have the voice of joy, & the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom & the voice of the Bride, the voice of those who will say:"Praise the LORD of hosts, For the LORD is good, For His mercy endures forever"- Oh holy Father, at this juncture of choosing to pray, may we be truly be those who will not find excuse to put off prayer. For those who EMBRACE  the relationship with YOU will know THE VOICE of truth. They will walk TOWARD HOLINESS finding power in prayer! Oh it is in Jesus’ Name we prayer……………… Amen.

Eternal Value

That eternal value is seeing the future with God. It is viewing the heaven to come. In Ephesians 4:23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you pt on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. A new creation is possible for we find our identification with Him by faith.

Revelation 22:16 " I Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.

The True Acknowledges Jesus Christ as the only way to salvation---right relationship with God.  2 Corinthians  4: 6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:17-19 For He received from God the Father honor & glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: “This is My beloved son, in whom I am well pleased.” 18 we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. 19 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns & the morning star rises in your hearts.

1.   Jesus brought light to reveal error when darkness had appeared through sin

2.   The word confirmed for salvation, healing & deliverance…to live for God by faith in obedience to Him: John 14:6 NKJV 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth & the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. It is the walk of faith in Him!   Having Jesus, is sinning no more

Has the morning star risen in our hearts? Is the light shining to lead us on to eternity? Psalm 37: 1-6  NKJV Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. 2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.  3 Trust in the LORD, and do good;   4 Dwell in the land; and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.  5  Commit your way to the LORDS, Trust also in Him, and  6   He shall bring forth you righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.

Heart is your intellect, awareness, that inner person....this encompasses both the physical and spiritual. It is to see Jesus speak God's words for life to us.  In the kingdom of God is eternal. It is Jesus leading us home. It is not for you or me to dwell on clouds or float around forever. It is finding our home with Him as He leads us by His example.

Righteousness is what is right with God: " My tongue shall speak of Your word, For all Your commandments are righteousness" (Psalm 119:172). It is the cultivation of the correct moral principles within ourselves. Again the heart of man is involved.  As a nation we should cultivate morality to produce spiritual and social growth. But alas that has nor occurred in many years. Knowing that righteousness is considered as morality of man, it is knowing it is also that foundation of justice. Justice is correct moral practice, the practical application of morality.

Jesus came to bring the Kingdom of God and Israel was not cultivating God's commandments. They were far from moral standards. They lived lives incompatible with knowing the Word of God. It is what we see today in many places of this nation. There is no justice! Just look at the graffiti on city walls. Or have you seen mattresses thrown on the side of highways. We just saw yesterday that someone decided to throw their trash by the roadway. That is not good for man nor animal living in that area.

Or what about being the considerate driver on the roadways? It is not passing you on a curve where view is obstructed. It is not passing using that extra lane intended for traffic coming to meet you.

God can see. He checks our hearts indeed. And that social injustice is noted when exploiting the poor. We have seen in this nation the encouragement toward addictions, and that of teaching small children about sexuality. Where is the light of the Lord when there is that heart of darkness?

Our hearts must be set toward the thing of the Lord. Colossians 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. The identity we should adhere to is that of spiritual things with Christ by death to the past and the empowerment for this present day as by resurrection of Jesus.

Jesus brought the Kingdom of God and the Word increased. But those who like their positions and ways of doing religion proved fatal for Jesus. But Resurrection proved God's power indeed. Even in the book of Acts you can find Stephen full of the Holy Spirit speaking wisdom of God and miracles occurring. Still there were those in chapter 6 to set up false witnesses, as they said Stephen spoke blasphemous words against their holy place and the law. Yet Stephen had the face of an angel. He kept to the word of God given in chapter 7. He spoke truth and their hearts were cut through by that truth. They took him out and stoned him. And while the stoning took place, He full of the Holy Spirit spoke, "Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God."    They closed their ears and stoned a man o faith.

Is culture deciding your fate? Are you  really a man after God or man after a culture style of dressing in costumes of dogs, cats, fish, butterflies or whales? They had a parade for that on east coast just the last couple of weeks. Jesus is the Morning Star leading us on. We move onto victory and see miracles done. Just ask me, I know for I am walking again, and getting stronger every day.

God is good, His mercy is everlasting. Jesus has gone to prepared a place for you and I. ( John 14:2) Verse 6 states, :"I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

We must have one heart with Jesus to go home with Him!  To face the darkness of this nation, we must remain in Jesus. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. ( Ephesians 6:10) Staying with the Lord, repenting of any lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes or pride of life.

As Paul says, "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory" (2 Corinthians 4:17).

Between the Moral and the Immoral Alternatives

Was reflecting on a couple of passages in the Old Testament and I thought of Eve and son Cain. Like mother, like son in that they both added something not given by God, but their own choice in will and speaking. And what is the choice when these are facing a person: remembering a sinner to choose godliness or sinful indulgence? Yet, we have been given salvation by faith through Jesus. This grace whereby we have been saved, it is the gift of God to us found in Ephesians 2:8. In this undeserved kindness, we see in action, a love so wonderful and to be realized with great things coming in our future with God and His Son!

But like I mentioned in the beginning I was thinking of Eve and Cain. It those who keep talking when they should be listening!

Genesis 3: 1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’”

Now God did not say “touch it” but He did say not eat that fruit! So Eve had a thought process already in movement. If you are intent on that fruit, you most certainly will have to touch it to eat it!

Genesis 3:4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You shall not surely die.” 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

These two were made in God’s image! Still we have a woman set on self-rule and not on God dependency. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Genesis 3:6….so when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, & a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit & ate. She also gave to her husband with her, & he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, & they knew that they were naked; & they sewed fig leaves together & made themselves coverings.

Adam knew she had eaten and was in the process of learning death and decay. So he ate with her so as to not allow her to go alone into that pitiful place! Man is to resemble God his maker: Genesis 5:1 This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. 2 He created them male & female, & blessed them & called them Mankind in the day they were created. ( Did not make them Adam and Steve, but Adam and Eve!)

And then in Revelation 1:8 Jesus tells us that He has the keys to death and hell…the very thing the devil caused in the first man & woman. Jeremiah 17:9 says, his heart is desperately wicked. Jesus reinforces this in Matthew 15:19-20: "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man. . . ."

If one were to present a truly converted person with the same options, he would choose the life of virtue, peace and love. He would know he is righteous in God, born again into the kingdom of God where there is much light and life!

Eve plunged into a deep spiral toward death and decay.

Then we find Cain in Genesis 4. In Genesis 4:1 Now Adam knew Eve his wife and she conceived and bore Cain and said, “I have acquired a man from the LORD.” 2 Then she bore again, this time his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. 3 And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the LORD. 4 Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat.

And the LORD respected Abel and his offering, 5 but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. 6 So the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen?” 7 “If you do well, will you not be accepted?” And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.

( Just adding a note here: Cain is trying to do what his parents were to do in the beginning. But they failed to do what God instructed. And the garden of Eden was closed to them. Now Cain pushes the envelope, but man sinned and required a sacrifice.)

8 Now Cain talked with Abel his brother and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him. 9 Then the LORD said to Cain, : Where is Abel your brother? He said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?” 10 And He said, “What have you done?  The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground. 11 So now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. 12 When you till the ground, it shall no longer yield its strength to you. A fugitive and a vagabond you shall be on the earth.” 13 And Cain said to the LORD, “My punishment is greater than I can bear!” 14 Surely You have driven me out this day from the face of the ground; I shall be hidden from Your face; I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond on the earth and it will happen that anyone who finds me will kill me. 15 And the LORD said to him, “Therefore, whoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him seven-fold. And the LORD set a mark on Cain, lest anyone finding him should kill him.

Cain slew his brother Able in the field. He did not like what God spoke to him!

Cain’s heart was one of attitude and revenge. He was not a “happy camper” with God.  From verse 9 of Genesis 4, Cain tells God this: “ Am I my brother’s keeper? Evil shows itself most often in verbal violence. In fact, the Apostle Paul quotes Psalm 10:7 to show that everyone, Jews and Gentiles alike, are under the power of sin (Romans 3:14). And James says  " And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. "(James 3:6)

And from a violent heart comes violent actions.

So he speaks out, probably yelling verse 14 : “ Surely You have driven me out this day from the face of the ground; I shall be hidden from Your face; I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond on the earth and it will happen that anyone who finds me will kill me.”

Cain put a bounty on his head! All he had to do was repent. He added to what God had spoken and was determined to get revenge. But God protected Cain with this symbol, the ‘mark on Cain’. Anyone who tried to kill Cain would know they would be responsible to payback seven fold the wrath.

Why did God spare the life of the world's first murderer instead of taking it? One reason is that he had not yet given man a command not to murder another human. Such a command will be given, however, right after Noah leaves the ark after the floodwaters subside (Genesis 9:6). An additional (and likely more important) reason he was allowed to live is so that other humans would be warned of God's view and judgment on sin. God would not allow it!

Seen in Genesis 4:15, God gives warning: “whoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him seven-fold.”  Wow, what a warning! Anyone attempting to further punish Cain by death would contradict his purpose of allowing him to be a living witness of his judgment.  It was God Himself who reserved punishment for the crime of murder on Abel. No one would override God’s wisdom and authority on this rebellion done.

The “mark of Cain” had nothing to do with changing his skin color or anything like that.  Man is made in God’s image. We are all one blood in the lineage from Adam and Eve. The mark of Cain revealed he did not worship God but worshiped himself instead.

Psalm 10: 3-11 NKJV For the wicked boasts of the desires of his heart’s desire,

He blesses the greedy and renounces the LORD. 4 The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts. 5 His ways are always prospering; Your judgments are far above, out of his sight; As for all his enemies, he sneers at them. 6 He has said in his heart, “ I shall not be moved; I shall never be in adversity.” 7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue is trouble and iniquity. 8 He sits in the lurking places of the villages; in the secret places he murders the innocent; His eyes are secretly fixed on the helpless. 9 He lies in wait secretly, as a lion in his den; He lies in wait to catches the poor; He catches the poor when he draws him into his net. 10 So he crouches, he lies low, that the helpless may fall by his strength. 11 He has said in his heart, God has forgotten; He hides His face; He will never see.”

We are told in verse 3 of Psalm 10 that the wicked pursue the poor. They turn on them because they first turned against God. And this is what Cain did. These wicked boast and are proud in their desires. They desired and pursued even though it is the wrong thing in God’s eyes.

Like Cain, he had a greed and it got him into some trouble.  The heart determines one's preferences and inclinations, and thus it determines one's choices, subjecting the will to it. Murder came in the package from Satan and his demons. They communicated that to man through the course of this world. YOU can see that in the Flood in Genesis 6. The world has shaped our pre-conversion heart, and thus it affects our relationship with God.

Yes, Cain was marked for he was a man of cursing and deceit. He had desires to hurt others like he did his brother Abel. God marked the man of murder. But God would not allow him to die in that way. He would live as a vagabond.

Between the moral and the immoral alternatives, outside of God is death and destruction. Within His boundaries is life and much light guiding us the way home! Eve could have had any tree in the garden, but the one God said “NO” to! Before her was the bounty of many trees with much fruit to be had for two people. But that lust of the eyes is deadly indeed! And Cain did not give the sacrifice that God delighted in, nor  had the respect for, so what Cain had done had not met the requirement needed to worship God.

Lawlessness takes us out of the plan of God.  Lawlessness brings a haphazard kind of life, if you can call it that. OUR Confidence should be in God and the promises He has given us. His promises were given to be planted within our hearts and rely on the truth so that we shall see them come to pass in our lives. God has abundance. He has no lack in anything: He is GOD!

We must submit to God and resist the devil. In that we set the standard of God in our lives. Without His standard and the haphazard lawless way of living, other catastrophes might occur to end’s one life. It will mark places like Sodom and Gomorrah. It will be something that is seen decades later or thousands of years later, a place where no man lives.

Cain would be a vagabond, not living long enough to really settle anywhere for his heart could not allow him to do that. Land was cursed so that any seed he put there would not produce for him. Repentance was the required antidote to hell. Surely we should desire to see God and His goodness and not turn away.

It is the testimony of faith that we speak of every good thing we have through Him: abundance not in things, but in God who desires to give us His kingdom. It is a life totally occupied with the kingdom of God that is free from attitudes, freedom in His love and mercy where a grateful heart and a joy in the heart abound in the grace of God!

God is not forgetful nor is He negligent. Instead God is patient and kind with sinners, giving them every opportunity to turn away from their sin and repent. The Scriptures warn us not to draw the wrong conclusion when God is patient with our sin.

And what is the choice when these are facing a person: remembering a sinner to choose godliness or sinful indulgence? What will we choose?

Instruction and a Healthy Heart

I am always amazed at people who will not heed instructions, particularly those that can kill if not heeded! My husband and I had seen the warning of Tsunami for the west coast of the United States. Being that a volcano erupted in the Pacific Ocean, we pay attention to it. We were up early on Saturday to see what was in effect for our state. The station we sometimes watch for weather showed the beach and wave action at Seaside, Oregon. Now we have seen what will happen to that city in a big Tsunami. There have been people working on scenarios of crises for that city if a tsunami appears. We learned from watching those specialist is that most of the city will most likely be carried out to sea! Anyway, we watched and watched, and waited for some word, and suddenly the station tuned to the college basketball game already in progress.

Now I say something like: “What?” "What....a basketball game.....!!!!

Yeah, then we hear nothing. We see more pictures of the island of Tonga just south of the Figi Islands,  and watched the explosive volcano send out all those hot gases including much sulfur and how much of the land of Tonga was affected. We were amazed at the strength of the eruption and how all the island was covered with four inches of ash. Then you wonder who is alive with such a terrific blast that close and underwater,  and how would anyone get to them in that region to bring them some kind of relief!

Finally we see pictures last night, yes on Tuesday night and there is nothing but ash and no life seen. But the report out of Oregon for Seaside was a most jaw dropping, neck jerking, and awe inspired word for the journalist reported that some people of that city decided to check out the Tsunami and when they heard the blast for the WARNING, they marched toward the beach and not away from the water action coming. Yes, the Report was that if a tsunami of magnitude had occurred at that moment, it would have caused traffic jams with those trying to leave the city with those running to the ACTION just to get a look at the  BIG WAVE!

How many run to action to end up in the action and not live to tell about it? How many will not listen to instruction when there is a destructive thing occurring and can affect any coastal city on the west coast of America?  I wonder if there is any sanity left in America.

Remember, that our heart contains the motivations for what we do and why we do it. So I ask you today, is your heart healthy and instructed to know Tsunamis can kill you? Just as the body can’t function well without a healthy heart, neither can the Christian with a spiritual heart—we will be sluggish in our work, hard at hearing God’s word, and slow to recognize His presence. The consistent disciplines of the Christian faith of prayer, Bible study, and fellowship will keep our spiritual heart pumping strong toward our eternal destination.

So can you see a healthy heart is required to live long on the earth! Has anyone surrendered to know the truth of Tsunamis and how to stay out of one? But discipline is required whether you are born again unto the Lord, discipline to be taught how to raise your children, to be taught the wisdom to make it through life without meeting some devastating waves at your back door.

One of the best blessings in being a believer in Jesus Christ is the peace that rises above every life situation including Tsunamis or volcanic eruptions. While others are fretting with worry, believers have the power of the Holy Spirit to guard their hearts and minds with peace that has no human explanation. Having peace allows believers to continue to go through hardship and painful situations without regret. The key to having peace in our hearts is surrendering all our prayers to God and trusting in Him to take care of each one. We must be instructed by Him! We must be about His plan for our lives!

We have the abilities God placed in us before we were born. But we must seek out His wisdom, that purpose for our lives where His wisdom in that instruction leads us. We have this word given to us in Proverbs 17:22: “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones” . When you and I have joy in our hearts, it will spill over and out to those who are around us. We bring the medicine of cheerfulness not because every situation is great, but because God is greater than any situation like Tsunamis. Our joy is renewed as we stay in the presence of God through prayer and Bible study. The key to having a joyful heart is to keep our minds stayed on God and His grace over our lives. Things occur! Everyday there is catastrophe in the world, but we should not meditate on those things. We are to meditate on the goodness of God!

One thought of someone who would run to see the Tsunami would be a person who is ruled by their own mind and heart. It is exhibited worldwide, regardless of culture.  Those who are self-centered rather than God-centered will end up in a world of hurt.

This is due to the underlying spirit beings who are at its heart and soul, being the key elements in communicating the course of this world into humanity. One illustration or example would be seen in Genesis 1:31. Genesis 1:31 reads, "Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day." God's statement of satisfaction in all He had made at the end of the sixth day of creation includes Adam and Eve's nature, as by this time they were already created.

In the beginning, mankind’s nature is designed and designated by our Creator God. And He stated: “it was very good.” But we also find in the Genesis 3 record that the episode that began the transformation of their basic nature to the extremes of self-centeredness we witness today. Man's nature was not created evil, but it became evil through the influence of another spirit - besides God - that Adam and Eve chose to follow without any interference from their Creator.

Once they committed to that initial step, the course of this world began. It was only in the next or what was the second generation that murder had occurred (Genesis 4:8). You know Caine killed or murdered his brother Abel. And by the Flood where Noah was commanded to build a boat, that  men were so evil that they were "only evil continually" (Genesis 6:5). It is this same peak of evil toward which this world and its multiple courses are being driven. All of this takes place because of the communication, reception, and acceptance of evil concepts from an evil source.

2 Timothy 3:13  reveals a general principle still working as we "progress" toward the return of Jesus Christ: "But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived." Improving character and conduct in any given culture are temporary, indeed very brief, when observed within a survey of all of man's history. Yeah, men are growing into the worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. We must pay attention to what we spend time in seeing and hearing for what we put in our hearts will certainly spill over and touch other people's lives. And hopefully what is coming out of our hearts is not folly but the wisdom of God to make right decisions.

Moral deterioration that concluded with the Flood was quickly restarted shortly after its waters receded, and it persists to this day, as each person is born into this world and exposed to the same spirit and to the variety of courses that influenced Adam and Eve and all their progeny. Because we are made of flesh, we are born with a slight pull toward self, but not with the corruption that later develops and reveals itself in our conduct. Evil is passed on by the spirit of the age through the course of this evil world. It is transferred to us through the cultures into which we are born, all of which are carnal to the core. Yeah culture rated R and XXX you might say and causes death! Yikes. You can see that on the commercials.

Was thinking about Haman and Queen Esther. Haman wanted the Jews killed. He had come into some authority with the ring of the king and he built a gallows to hang people on it. In Esther 3 Haman plots against the Jews to kill them . Mordecai persuades Esther to intervene and then Esther solicits Mordicai’s help in chapter 4. In this, it is that Modecai is exalted and Haman hates it and talks about it much with his family. Haman plots to destroy Mordecai. But by chapter 7 it is Haman who is exposed and he himself with his sons are hanged on the gallows instead. By chapter 8 the king issues a decree to stop what Haman had started. The Jews defeat their enemies.

In this world, those who serve themselves will find trouble and much hurt. It was two who worked together to commit to pray and fast for a nation. Among hostile people, the Jews survived the plans of the enemy and saw them come to nothing.

If we receive instruction to a warning of destruction, should we not take it to prayer and to another with us who will pray alongside us to see God’s plan for our lives? Or will we jet out on the horn’s notice and be met next time by a 90 foot tidal wave? It is a choice indeed and a healthy heart is required in that it hears God and knows truth to live to 120 years. If Haman had a different heart, he might have lived longer in his life on earth.

Most certainly it is mankind and those represented by Adam and Eve, who have chosen to submit to Satan, and all of their descendants, including us, have also chosen to become evil under the sway of the same evil spirit that offered our first parents the choice. This creates and accounts for "the course of this world."

Was also thinking of David, who sent by his father to take cheese and bread to his brothers and those fighting the frontlines against the Philistines. David took his father's instruction and went the way to bring some food and comfort from home. But in his going, he met Goliath who held hate for God's people. David obeyed and found a cause worth fighting. He used that of his weapons used in the field against the lion and the bear. David would be victorious for he would slay the giant and remove his head too!

Tsunamis exist in this fallen world, and those world events will play out among the evil and the just, but many will be caught in the evil schemes to catch a glimpse of a wave started by a catastrophic volcanic eruption deep in the Pacific Ocean. And many will try to soothe their ego to have their will be done and be entertained by a great splash, but then they will only be lost to the depths of their ego, the unbelief that guards their heart and holds its display that a “foolish person “ might be present.

And if you should know one, remind them that God desires them to have long life, to follow His instructions where we are disciplined. The benefits in discipline is for each of us to be immersed in the word of God, to read the Scriptures daily so that God is revealed to us and our hearts. If we want to know and enjoy life, we must know Him who created life for us. In God, the place to begin is in God’s word.

No one has to tell me that Tsunamis can kill nor can anyone tell me that earthquakes cause great damage and kills by violence. And a warning should be noted. I would rather not be in an earthquake nor a volcanic eruption, but I have been disciplined to know the “dangers” by reading and preparing since I have many volcanoes surrounding us where we live. We have viewed documentaries on T.V. to know the best action for safety and that is to get to high ground not sea level in view of a flood of tidal proportions.

Never been in a volcanic event but have been in an earthquake. Yes, more than one have I experienced. and it was not a fun time. And I would rather avoid hot gases from a belching volcano ....thank you very much!

Apart from the Bible, we cannot know what God is like. He is our Father, He has love for us and really wants to give us His wisdom for this life to live in despite of volcanoes, earthquakes, firestorms and polar blasts and heat waves! My husband and I have seen to having a healthy heart when something has gone amuck in this county, this state or country. We choose to pray and read the word of God. We choose to hear the Lord speak His instruction. And then we rehearse what is important if we are not together when an event occurs. We have planned what to do and how to get from point A to point B without many distractions and obstacles in safe and wise ways!

We must be awakened to truth, and disciplined for that which brings life. God never changes and He instituted instruction in His wisdom to live long. And we plan to do that, for His spiritual truth remains the same: yesterday, today and forever in Christ Jesus! And in Him are safe indeed, in the arms of a loving God! Amen.
