Feeding on Foolishness

FOOLS MUST BE DEALT WITH DIFFERENTLY THAN THOSE WHO ARE WISE. We cannot deal with all men in the same way. Our response to people must be based on the kind of character they have demonstrated.

Reading through the book of Proverbs last week, and this stood out in our reading: Proverbs 21:6-7  NKJV 6 Getting treasures by a lying tongue is the fleeting fantasy of those who seek death. 7 The violence of the wicked will destroy them. because they refuse to do justice.

In reading the meaning a stumble toward death and the "destroy" means to drag them away. They move toward death quickly.

Matthew 16:1-4 Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that he would show them a sign from heaven. 2 He answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ ‘Hypocrites!’ You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times. 4 “A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. And He left them and departed.

1.         From verse 4: Jesus’ description of Israel’s religious leaders is reminiscent of Deut. 32:5 where Moses rebuked Israel for rejecting Yahweh.

2.         Deuteronomy 32:5-6 NKJV They have corrupted themselves; they are not His children, because of their blemish: a perverse and crooked generation. 6 Do you thus deal(repay the )with the LORD, O foolish and unwise people? Is He not your Father, who bought you? Has He not made you and established you?

3.         The relationship with the LORD is ruined when His children no longer act like His children.

4.         They had become a grotesque mockery of what God created them to be

Ever wonder where some of these teens arrested today were raised? Some speaking as a parent say they are the sweet child who harms no one. Yet they destroy store windows, steal produce from the store and take off running when police arrive. Interesting! Who in their right mind would take a knife to a track event in the spring time? Who decides to run down people on a roadway and call it accidental  done?  But what if these teens are just like their parents. What if they act the same manner and ready to use a weapon just because they are mad about something? Another thought here: young adults carrying signs saying ideas are not illegal? No they are no illegal, but not done in God will bring disaster. They bring consequences like a knife at a Track Meet!

Matthew 12: 39 But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

A spiritual adulterous exhibition was presented by the scribe’s and Pharisees because of their rejection of Jesus

1.         Jonah’s experience in the depths of death would be Jesus experience as well

2.         Three days and three nights: Jonah 1:17 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. Jonah 2:1 Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the fish’s belly. 2 And he said: “I cried out to the LORD because of my affliction, and He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and You heard my voice. 3 For You cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the floods surrounded me; all Your billows and Your waves passed over me. 4 Then I said, ‘I have been cast out of Your sight; yet I will look again toward Your holy temple.’ 5 The waters surrounded me, even to my soul; the deep closed around me; weeds were wrapped around my head. 6 I went down to the moorings of the mountains; the earth with its bars closed behind me forever; yet YOU have brought up my life from the pit, O LORD, my God.

3.         Away from God’s presence…a life threatening situation

4.         Going into the belly of Sheol, the inner part of the earth, the grave

5.         From verse 6 the moorings or the bars of Sheol the land of the dead beneath the great deep; from the pits refers to Sheol

One thing for certain, fools are liars!  They may say the jury is all white when there is only what 4? And the rest are Hispanic and Asian. (total of 12) Liars are known when they can count the crowd for themselves and then tell the journalist there is only white folks on the jury. Lying is sin and is dangerous.

Steve Hill was founder of Heartland World Ministries Church in Dallas. He was widely known for preaching the uncompromising message of Christ throughout the world. He wrote this before his passing into heaven.   He wrote:     The challenging of God’s authority goes back to the Garden of Eden, starting with the serpent’s challenge to Eve: “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” (Gen. 3:1). This satanic challenge was twofold: First, did God really say that? And second, God didn’t really mean what He said. After all, you won’t die if you eat from the tree (vv. 1-5).

That twofold challenge continues to assault us today. Best-selling authors tell us the biblical text isn’t reliable, that the biblical manuscripts we have in our possession are hopelessly contradictory, and that we can know little or nothing about the real, historical Jesus. Other authors tell us that the Bible is no more than a collection of religious traditions and that God Himself is nothing more than a religious myth.

For the most part, though, the challenge to the authority of the Scriptures is subtler, and some of it flows out of the deification of man, which says, “The Bible must live up to my standards. I will judge the God of the Bible based on my morality rather than the God of the Bible judging me based on His morality.” In short, when the Scriptures contradict our feelings and preferences rather than crucify our feelings and preferences and bow down before God and His Word, we question God’s Word.

Steve Hill had written this as well:   Universal reconciliation promotes a get-out-of-jail-free mentality—that in the end, everyone will make it into heaven because of Jesus’ death on the cross. (In contrast, universalism teaches that all paths lead to God.) There may be future suffering, but it will be purging rather than punishment, and ultimately everyone will be saved.

Proponents of universal reconciliation point to verses that teach that God reconciled “all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross” (Col. 1:20). And they point out that just as in Adam all die, in Jesus all will live (Rom. 5:12-21).

What would you say if someone attempted to persuade you that Adolf Hitler was in heaven? “Abomination!” you would scream. “You’re deranged!” Yet that’s a sample of the fundamental false teaching of this layer of “avalanche snow.” Added to other layers mentioned previously, we will find the believer’s foundation deteriorated, and when the storms come in damaging ways, life is extinguished.

Are we feeding on foolishness?  Do we really recognize a false teaching that is a strong wind of error? If we think a color of a person makes it right to kill is totally wrong! Character is what counts when standing with God. This is what Martin Luther King extended in his speech before his death. He wanted his children to be known by the content of their character and not the color of their skin!  If we are in that place, darkness is coming down quickly!

A. W. Tozer wrote, "So skilled is error at imitating truth, that the two are constantly being mistaken for each another. It takes a sharp eye these days to know which brother is Cain and which is Abel." The apostle Paul also speaks to the outwardly pleasing behavior of apostates and their teaching when he says, "For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:13-14). In other words, do not look for apostates to appear bad on the outside or speak dramatic words of heresy at the outset of their teaching. Rather than denying truth outright, apostates will twist it to fit their own agenda, but as pastor R. C. Lensky has noted, “The worst forms of wickedness consist in perversions of the truth.”

Peter says, “But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves” (2 Peter 2:1). Another aspect of true believers is that they have been delivered out of spiritual darkness into light (Ephesians 5:8) and therefore will not deny core truths of Scripture like Arius did with the divinity of Jesus.

Ultimately, the sign of an apostate is that he eventually falls away and departs from the truth of God’s Word and His righteousness. The apostle John signifies this is a mark of a false believer: “They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us” (1 John 2:19).

Ideas Have Consequences

That God takes apostasy and false teaching seriously is evidenced by the fact that every New Testament book except Philemon contains warnings about false teaching. Why is this?

1.         Simply because ideas have consequences.

2.         Right thinking and its fruit produces goodness, whereas wrong thinking and its accompanying action results in undesired penalties. As an example, the Cambodian killing fields in the 1970s were the product of the nihilistic worldview of Jean Paul Sartre and his teaching. The Khmer Rouge’s leader Pol Pot lived out Sartre’s philosophy toward the people in a clear and frightening way, which was articulated in this manner: “To keep you is no benefit. To destroy you is no loss.” ( are we not seeing baseball players of the majors wearing uniforms and caps to celebrate the LGBTQ folks. God only made male and female)

3.         It should be remembered that satan did not come to the first couple in the Garden with an external armament or supernatural weapon; instead, he came to them with an idea. And it was that idea that condemned them and the rest of humankind, with the only remedy being the sacrificial death of God’s Son!

The authority the Master gave you and me  is for putting people together, not taking them apart. We want to get on with it and not have to spend time on reprimands.  And that’s about it, friends. Be cheerful. Keep things in good repair. Keep your spirits up. Think in harmony. Be agreeable. Do all that and the God of love and peace will be with you for sure. Greet one another with a holy embrace. All the brothers and sisters here say hello. The amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.  Amen!

Our Spiritual Biography

Dead to Sin!

Romans 6:8-11 NKJV Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Spiritual biography is that each who receives Jesus is dead to sin. No longer controlled by the love of sin or its ruling power in our lives. It is dead to enslaving us with its power. Each day we have a choice whether to yield to sin, to let it reign in our bodies or stand firm it has no place in us.

Sin has died  because Christ beat death to the finish line. He settled the account. He lives as God and now lives in that new relationship as the Risen One, Resurrected Christ in that new sphere where sin cannot enter!

According to Romans 6:12-17 is that sin’s dominion has been broken by grace. Romans 6:12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, whether sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.

James 3:2 For we all stumble in many things, if anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

What Jesus finished is that work He accomplished against sin. He did a work of faith. That work was perfect faith. He revealed obedience that demonstrated the reality of His righteousness. If anyone says it is okay to sin, is one tending toward antinomianism. It is contrary to Paul’s whole discussion of sin and to Jesus’ own words about the law we see in Matthew 5:17-20 NKJV 17 Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.  18 For assuredly I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the  scribes and the Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus spoke this of the scribes and the Pharisees as they taught false doctrine. This was the tradition of the elders. They were not only legalistic but also strong in their commitment to the false doctrine. Sadducees were those rejecting the Pharisees. These were those coming from social families and considered rationalists and materialistic. They did not accept the supernatural! So they would not receive Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. And these two groups hated each other.

So, too, you would have many groups with a belief system that has nothing to do with Jesus!

For us Holy Spirit has moved in us. He is there representing the power for holy living. And he is motivated by love for the Savior, not as to a fear of punishment but of God producing holiness. Romans 6:1-2 states plainly that Christians are not to sin, that is, break God's laws. Therefore sin—and thus God's law, which tells us what sin is—must still exist.

It cannot be both ways. If they say that the law is done away, then in the biblical context, it is logical to conclude that there can be no sin. It is therefore illogical for them to claim that it is still wrong for a person to murder or to commit adultery because those sins would not exist without the laws that determine they are immoral or illegal acts. But the true answer lies elsewhere: Their conclusion that the law is done away is wrong!

In Romans 2:1-3 we see this! Romans 2:1-3 NKJV  Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. 2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. 3  And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?

Oh, how we can see our faults more clearly in other people indeed. Yet for us, we fail to apply them to ourselves. Our own reaction is so often to criticize negatively that we usually do not see that we are guilty of the same things as seen in others. If we find a certain type of behavior especially irritating in others, we may have the same problem!

To illustrate this blindness to our own sins, recall David's sin, recorded for all the world to see in  2 Samuel 12:1-5, when God sent Nathan to show David his sin with Bathsheba. Nathan told of a case in which a rich man who owned many sheep had stolen a poor man's pet lamb and killed it to eat for dinner. King David was outraged that anyone would be so greedy and selfish, so he pronounced the death penalty on this man. Then Nathan quietly pointed out that David had done the exact same thing when he stole Uriah's wife and sent Uriah to his death.

David was a man who, when he recognized his sin, would deeply repent. So how far his heart fell at that time, we can only imagine. He must have been devastated by his own weakness in sin.

What angers us about others in God's church? Consider this carefully, since in the answer may be a clue to our secret sins. "For you who judge practice the same things."

A friend was over this week. She has had some health issues but we expect her healing. She mentioned a specific thing going out by this gentleman criticizing those of a new program about Jesus. A friend sent it to her to see his complaint and I guess to prove he was right!  We had just started watching the Jesus series this past year and was caught off guard about this guy bashing the new program about Christ. So we listened on her phone that was sent by a friend of hers. We knew this had only two seasons and this man certainly pointed to some things.

But what captured us was that the man relates like the disciples are saved when walking with Jesus. He was not crucified, dead and buried. Jesus and John the Baptist had the Holy Spirit, but the disciples did not. They were being given the word of God, but they stood and walked and slept in their sinful natures till they could repent and receive Jesus as Lord. We must be cautious about people. We must know them where they stand and if they know of the Lord. Because without Jesus, they know not of their sin nor of their sinful natures before Him! Peter knew his sin when we refused to acknowledge that he knew Jesus, not once but three times he said he did not know Him.

Side Effects of the world are seen daily who choose to follow a sinful life, who persist in siding with the flesh and standing tall in culture, but siding with God is love and being full of unspeakable joy with much humility.

2023 is not the year to be deceived by satan. He as light can make you think about the light of God, but he will force one or more of his own designs into the pot and when deceived by them, one can choose to follow him without any arm-twisting. You can see that with the "gentleman" choosing to bash a program of Jesus that is taken word by word of the New Testament. He rallies with his own to bring deceitful ways and acts before you. But 2023 is to be the year for the believer with no side effects, those of the Lord’s way in truth and grace understanding that sin was done away. He carried sin for us, & in His mercy, we are new each morning!

We arrive on the wings of the Holy Spirit’s power to be in the right places at the right times for the plan of God for our steps are ordered in Him. May we not be committed to that which causes side effects to death but that which is to life and see with the light that shines at noonday in Jesus name.  When we were slaves to sin, the only freedom we knew was freedom from righteousness. Now that is a desperate condition indeed. It is bound to evil of every form and free from every good thing. In Paul we are challenged to take inventory of the fruits of an unsaved life, fruits in those activities of which we believers are now ashamed. For time is certainly squandered, influence is misused, best friends are wronged in some way, and our love is anything but nice nor friendly.

May we become slaves to righteousness in His name for His sake. For in you and I, we should know that to be our spiritual biography!

Waves of Glory

Being directed to the beatitudes, one has in mind of the kingdom of God.  His word of prophecy was given  through Jesus and the manifestation of the Spirit of the Lord God upon Jesus, where He was and still is anointed to preach the good tidings. Yes that is the Gospel to you and to me. He is so much more! He is majesty on high, the Great I Am in our midst, the Open Door, Shepherd of the sheep and He is truth. Revelation 19:16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.  A title indeed, earned by His completed work and victory on the Cross. ( Philippians 2:5-11) The basis for His consummating the victory over the Dragon and his allies will be the highlight as He rides with His saints, leaving heaven to return to earth to stop the antichrist with his ruling with destruction.

Will you know this, you born again citizen of the kingdom of God through Jesus?

Only you and I or those who are born again unto that kingdom of God will abide there and will know the language there. For that to occur, it was great things planned and put in motion, that which would be hurled against the Son of God. And we saw that in the New Testament as in the book of Matthew, Luke, and Mark! Great attitudes of hate would be not only heard but also seen. In that, Jesus on the cross, giving up His body and by shedding His blood completely satisfied God’s requirement: Hebrews 10:12-14 NKJV But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. 14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

What a moment, what great trials and pain where torture was the rule of the day!

And to us it opened up the gates of Heaven for anyone that would believe in Him John 3:16: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the  only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he Who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen that they have been done in God.

In HIM, we have the benefit of life eternal.  1 John 5:10-12 NKJV 10 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. 11 And this is the testimony; that God has given us eternal life and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Romans 2:6-11 Amp. Bible 6 for He will render to every man according to his works [justly, as his deeds deserve]. 7 To those who by patient persistence in well-doing [spring from piety] seek [unseen but sure] glory and honor and [the disobedient to the Truth  but responsive to wickedness, there will be indignation and wrath. 9 [And] there will be tribulation & anguish & calamity & constraint for every soul of man who [habitually] does  evil, the Jew first & also the [Gentile]. 11 For God shows no partiality [undue favor or unfairness; with Him one man is not different from another.

Our answer is in Jesus from Matthew 11:29-30 He said “take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart….you will find rest for your soul. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

AND The Holy Spirit Prepares Us for Kingdom Victories Today: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints---

1.   No aliens: that is, no unrighteous will be permitted to enter after the judgment & cleansing by the Lord

2.   John 4:21; 23 “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain or in Jerusalem, worship the Father. 23 But the hour is coming, and now is when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit & truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

This is reverence to, only homage rendered to God and the ascended Christ; The glory of God illuminates the city…there is no night there so there is a fade less day; It is a place of joy for the nations will enjoy its beauty….

We are not to serve the creation, but serve our Creator Almighty God! Proverbs 15:24 The way of life winds upward for the wise, that he may turn away from hell below. …Proverbs 14:16 A wise man fears & departs from evil, but a fool rages & is self-confident. Colossians 3:1-2 If you then raised with Christ seek those things above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. Set your mind on the things of above ( as those things of God), for His glory!

We are to equally demonstrate the Gospel as we defend it against error! In speaking, or in any action, is the Gospel demonstrated in us for God’s glory?Ephesians2:4-7 NKJV 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us a alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

The glories of Christ’s kingdom dominion and authority may be experienced and enjoyed in the here and now: The outpouring of the Spirit of God is a sign that Jesus has been exalted to the right hand of the Father. Pentecost is a sign that Jesus is Lord. What an amazing future we have in HIM! It was the beginning .....to .....ENJOY WAVE AFTER WAVE OF GOD’S GRACE.

The Lord Gives Grace and Glory according to John 1:16  And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He had declared Him. It is God Who met us at the point of our need in the Person of Jesus Christ. This is Jesus in all His power, and His provision.

True light does not come to every man but only to those who receive Jesus. It is the power of God released!

Now imagine such great light. Imagine an Aurora Borealis with its depths, and heights, lengths and widths………now imagine those great waves of light washing over your nation, over your home and your family. Imagine the beauty and majesty of God on high and His glory covering the earth! Imagine every word Jesus spoke being spoken through your own lips. Imagine the power of God invading earth in every cubby hole, nook and cranny.

Habakkuk 2:4 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

Now meditate on the word of God in you, the truth, yes that knowledge of Jesus Christ in you the Lord of glory. We glory in Him.We glory in His resurrection. We Glory in His life without spot or wrinkle. We glory in Him Who gain heaven for us, to know our Father the Creator of all!

Now again think on every power Scripture in your heart….Jesus is illuminating by the Holy Spirit power to bring light to the world that will have length, depth, height and width. Grace and glory…that light that dances and moves with power of God. And it is settling on you even now, you who believe, who fight with faith, standing your ground against the wiles of the enemy for your day is here and the glory has risen upon you. Yes, the glory is covering the earth….and see what happens next!

 Are you ready?
