Have You Named it Decayed and Polluted?

Isaiah 1:5-6   NKJV  5 Why should you be stricken again?

You will revolt more and more. The whole head is sick,

And the whole heart faints. 6  From the sole of the foot even to the head,

There is no soundness in it, But wounds and bruises and putrefying sores;

They have not been closed or bound up, Or soothed with ointment.

The commentary on this reads as a nation with festering wounds. The festering wound will stink. It has its own odors and oozing of sickness. There is no healthy place to land. As Judah, we have people here today in this nation which choose their agenda and not God’s. They pursue their sin, and teach their enemies to do the same. They bring the wound, the putrefying sore with nothing to soothe it. And they produce it over and over again!

From the outhouse to the white-house, decay is seen in our culture. The demand is chaos indeed. The society is at large very sick. A political landscape gives no life to he who sees. In Jesus, we see Him delivering “good” to the people. But the Pharisees chose to give routine. No life was found in their doing!

We look over the land, especially where we live. We look for life of God, but nothing is seen but sin leading to sickness and to more disease.

No, our beginnings are in God no matter your age or position in life today. A verse I love to keep before my eyes is Psalm 25:21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you. I like what the Tony Evans Bible Commentary speaks on this: David waits on God to act in His integrity. He petitions God to guard him. (As he continues he wants the benefits to be for others not just himself) David did not go in his integrity, he sought God’s integrity to be done in his life!

Immersed in Holy Spirit to live in truth today is so important. And for those who have not received Jesus, by the time anti-christ gets here, his charismatic voice will draw the unbeliever and it will be too late for his safety, salvation and spiritual life. Scripture tells us that Holy Spirit is sent to those obedient: Acts 2:38 NKJV 38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

When we read Isaiah in the beginning of this passage, he is not speaking, of course, of physical bruises and disease but of spiritual and thus of cultural decay at work. He sees the nation as a body made up of many individuals (much as Paul describes Christ's body, the church, in 1 Corinthians 12), but because so many of the individuals are spiritually weak and sick, the nation itself is diseased throughout.

If no one has seen that which goes on at capitol hill in this new year of 2023, in the voting and drama, one finds those seen as the hard headed or just plain weak. They falter, cannot make a decision, and therefore critical care is required for each of them. Only Jesus can save!

Being spiritual is so critical, as to the word of God to give us right thinking and speaking and prayer in relationship to Him.  THAT prayer to Him, communicating our commitment to Him, to know Him and to hear Him speak to our hearts is so vital. We can see Him, engage Him and when we continue speaking what He spoke while He walked in Nazareth to Jerusalem, we are aware we are not alone ever! Spiritual death can occur to those who want free stuff, and think they are entitled to that free thing as to government checks or other things!

Certainly we are to be givers to the poor and aid the needy. ( Matthew 19:21, Luke 14:13, Galatians 2:10) God wants us to be responsible people. That is: be responsible to feed your children, clothe your children and give them God’s word because charity ends and personal responsibility begins when you the rugged individual should get a job. Provide for you and yours, get on your feet and move out of your house to make a difference for many! Spiritual danger will appear in the long haul when one seeks free things. Even though many feel some amount of shame for their extended hand, they also can develop an attitude of entitlement called the welfare mentality. They become offended when they get nothing from someone. So too, true Christianity is not give your heart to the Lord and be saved. No that true Christianity is “Repent and believe in the gospel found in Mark 1:15! Christianity is not lazy. It is outgoing, esteeming others where manifested itself, you and I will see the blessings of God.

So back to that which is seen today, while it is true that the politicians may be constantly in the public eye, and their indiscretions thus become front page news, they are not altogether unlike their constituents.  Can one claim that no voter in this nation has ever had a homosexual thrust? Or is it possible that no voter ever took some money under the table to smooth the way for a “sweet”  deal for themselves?  And speaking of those hiring the illegal alien, have we not seen it in their community as to those who are hired to pick cherries, or apples from that orchard across the river? They close their businesses to pick their cherries on certain days in the summer. Do you know them?

What about the guy you met who never pays his taxes or how about that person you met some years ago who admitted they smoked pot. They spoke of their knack to be outdoors at 3 a.m. to smell that of illegal drugs smoked to give the fresh air a scent of sin in the gorge. Have you voiced an ethnic slur or know someone who has?  Just saw a lady who lives in the next state across the river from us who has taken paint to voice her heart on her house over Christmas holiday. Yes, it was a slur! She used dark paint to paint a dark slur against someone.  How about the people who dumped their trash and yes, with some of their own mail on that dirt road outside of Dog Mountain? The officials found them indeed. I read it in our paper. Yes, those elected, are they like those who elected them?

Have you been in a vehicle that had no brakes? Well, we are in a vehicle of this nation running sharply downhill too fast! The societal behavior runs steeply downhill toward degeneration and immorality at every turn. They appear with no brakes to stop. They are set for an agenda of immoral behavior. One gentleman ( I use very loosely) just drove his family on a dangerous cliff in California driving a Tesla. He wanted them dead. They are alive but he is in the hospital. And how far was the drop for the family in that car? Well, I am surprised anyone survived?

What is remembered on days gone by? My mother went without sugar for several years because of the World War 2. They had a victory garden to raise food and freeze some when they could. One man was loyal to one wife. They secured children in their family, had a good job, and made sure all was good on every need required. When the Cuban Missile Crises occurred, a nation prayed for God and He answered.

But when one would share to a group of those born in 2001 there might appear a blur to the mainstay of today! Today, if you spoke of those days, like of the Dust Bowl of Oklahoma, California greed for money in the 1930 and 1940’s or the Depression started by the stock market falling to nothing,  Christian values have to light to what they were about 75 years ago, then yes, America may be beyond America's own ability to achieve those early years in God!

Are we so different than those born in the last decade? Is there a Dust bowl somewhere, or how about that greed to get people to work for cents and not greenbacks? What about that stock market and what people look for today to see the market fall like October 1929. And in truth, the dust bowl was already in affect  when the stock market fell in 1929! People were already leaving Oklahoma, Colorado and Kansas for green pastures anywhere to be found.

No pornography was found seen or talked about where a family lived and breathed. Yes, decency and civility was within a home, the heart of a family and integrity ruled the heart.  Every family member that went out from the home was he or she who represented truth and honesty. There was no violence nor shouts against others. And whatever was heard was stopped immediately by those to enforce the law of this nation.

Is anyone aware of God’s standards today seen in Matthew 19:17 Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

Jesus spoke “If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

Test day it was for this man Jesus spoke to that moment. To test him on the way of salvation: Jesus was good for He is, was and will always be God! The commandments should convict man of his sinful nature before God. No man cannot inherit God or heaven when he chooses to doing his way through life.

The justice people want is not the justice of the Bible. We hear it daily on the news and in the street and yet the justice they want is their own “justice”.

Honor is given those who honor truth and integrity.  The love of God is known. It is experienced and freedom is lived through the Lord of glory. It was that true freedom that was once seen in people who kept God at the center of their focus. They kept Him in their hearts, kept Him on their mind and focused on that peace that had come to them daily in Him and through Him to others.

People back in those days, regarded God as the way of life. They were deliberate to know Him. They were deliberate to act as He did when He walked in Nazareth giving truth, whether they chose Him for life or not. What will be said of us? Will we always choose life, truth of God and not live a lie in our lives?

I like what this gentleman wrote once: he said that politics is dirty and it always involves more movement for temporal power. Down and dirty would mean a hundred years ago to get down and clean the garden space, clean the toilet or even clean your bedroom or vehicle.

Today, to me dirty is turning on your television and hearing the people who give the news have embraced those who give their parties involving men dressed as women. It is those who choose to side with illicit. It is men and women in decay, a distasteful walk in life by the truth they desire to influence  by immoral acts.

Want to be honored, but one should not want to malign others while they themselves roll in the dirt, and stink as rotted flesh! Jesus spoke to the Pharisees and Sadducees and mentioned them being adders. In this respect if you will, Jesus spoke their new born babes would eat their way out of the bodies who gave them life. Have you time with a scorpion and irritate him till he curled his tail at you, or do they cause you to run in another direction? What about those who speak of change to the bodies but God gave you one? Will their sound be like that of horror and smell like the sulfur of hell? How about the stench of the “dump ground” where your trash is taken? Is that our political system now? Does the sounds of the political mouth sound like more like him who laughs in derision and has attitude?

Proverbs 26:18-19 NKJV 18 Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death, 19 Is the man who deceives his neighbor, and says, “I was only joking!”

When I was about nine, I remember playing ball with my sister and some friends who lived in our neighborhood. It was a time of rolling in the dirt. We played baseball indeed, stealing second base, and that was awhile ago, and today it has the very meaning of the immoral and the influence of being that way.  Sports has changed to put men who chose being a woman to turn to woman sports. Or how about that electric thing? Have you seen how the semi including truck and trailer required more time to be charged and when used it only went half way to get its load? Thinking of when we lived in Wyoming for it was many decades now, and you could not rely on an electric anything to get you through a blizzard. Have you seen those electric cars stalled on I-5 or I-84 for how many hours and their charge went to zero. Vehicles were stopped for many reasons but two were too many accidents in the ice and snow and the other was there was a death or two on that roadway due to bad weather. So wait in their electric car indeed but it was too cold: 28 degrees with a 50 mile an hour wind blowing to add to the pot of stupid! We had wood burning in our fireplace for warmth while snow piled up to over five feet outside.

As Solomon says, "By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked" (Proverbs 11:11).

A Polluted National Landscape was once the beautiful is now horrific indeed. And if I were to speak on that food we get now, it is nowhere the stuff of champions . You will find plastic shaped “things” looking like grass for your basket in hunting eggs  for that holiday that is not holy unto the Lord and is found in your frozen food you just purchased and cooked .  But that is another story indeed! Believe it has to do integrity too!

Will we wait for God? Will we wait to hear Him? David did when he wrote such a thing as this. He was believing and you should when we ask for God’s integrity in our lives for it is His righteousness that will rule us indeed and bring God of peace into that place we desire Him to be. Amen.

When Wounds are Many

Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. 4 He counts the number of stars; He calls them all by name. 5 Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.
Proverbs 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

Brokenness happens! It happens to rich people and poor people! It will happen to those in the city and to those in the country! It will happen everywhere to men and women alike. When wounds are many, it is only the Lord who can cure their pain and the sorrows of the wounds.

People are human. They make mistakes! Just look back at the Garden of Eden! Wow, what a mess, yet we each can say we have created such messes at some point in our lives. Although ours did not cause mankind to fall to sin, yet, our family is affected by such messes and sometimes for many generations since we ultimately all came from that same garden. Right?
You can see that today in the number of adults who have no regard for father figures. They do not regard them for they neither had one nor knew of one. But if it is never talked about, the problem will continue to grow to cover a nation will ill-regard for men in leadership.

I was recently hearing a teaching on Proverbs 27:5-6. In this the teacher told that rebukes can hurt and yet rebuke will come to the one experiencing that world of hurt. And if we truly have a really good friend, a rebuke given with love is more apt to bring change to our lives.

In the world today you are to love all people everywhere in everything. It has something about being politically correct. But rebuke is to make some uncomfortable. Like knowing that killing is wrong, and same sex marriages are also wrong according to words God set forth and delivered, not only through the prophets but also through that of the Son of His love!

There are those times one may need to be told that they are of the foolish nature and wrong! But we must remember we cannot make people choose right over wrong. People will do with that correction the way they desire and if they choose the other, then so be it. But reality is, that is if we do not warn them with a rebuke, then we are accomplices to the very problem these people hold especially if they are family. Even close friends seem to repeat the same from the last few years. They hold on to the fact they are alone and need somebody, so they choose the same person they chose a year ago. And most likely they will fall to the other's lies and be hurt resembling last years hurts!

Ah yes, when wounds are many, and they continue to become many more when changes are not made. WE certainly are to love others and are to love them in their mistake making progress, yet if they continue in the same muddy mess, something must change.

Of course, we start with us first!  Each of us must find the word of God and apply it to our own lives. We are to walk accordingly to the path set by God for us. In this we have protection. But if we choose to go our own way in making decisions of choosing that spouse, that new job or even a change of living from city to country, from the farm to the beach, many decisions may be made haphazardly causing more destruction to one's own life. We must make our decisicions based on the truth of God's Word.

Proverbs 27:5-6 Open rebuke is better than love carefully concealed. 6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. If we never speak up, then we are loving others into more sin. Even as a physician has to bring some formula to the table of a person's care if they are truly sick. If the physician only caters to bringing what is pleasing rather than bringing what is really needed the sick patient may become more ill to the point of death!
Tough love is better than flattering hypocrisy!

In Matthew 26:49-50 we find Judas kissing Jesus. 49 Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed Him. 50 But Jesus said to him, "Friend, why have you come?" Then they laid hands on Jesus and took Him.
Judas in his hypocrisy kissed Jesus with the "kiss " of the intimate friend. Betrayal can cause many wounds like in this situation. But Jesus was revealing His true nature. And Judas revealed his true nature. In this Judas had received coins from those he gave Jesus up to. Within those coins was not the coins that the nation of Israel produced but was of the coinage that represented Caesar. What a terrible place for Judas to be. He had taken of that which was precious, and Jesus allowed Judas his day in the arena of pain. And within that Judas suffered a lot to the point of death.

Faithful are the wounds of a friend for they are not just the "yes man" but they will speak truth. According to Ephesians 4:15 in the Amplified Bible: 15 rather, let our lives lovingly express truth [in all things, speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly.] Enfolded in love, let us grow up in every way in all things into Him Who is the Head, [even] Christ ( the Messiah, the Anointed One).
If we are the true friend, we will act according to the word of God: no more and no less, it will be about our being submitted to the authority of Jesus Christ in our lives, showing allegiance to him and where there is disharmony God's way will always take precedence.
Acts 4 :19-20 But Peter answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. 20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard..'

What Great Lengths

Ever thought of Jesus and His walk from the Passover meal to praying in the Garden of Gethsemane? Ever thought what those last hours were like before the military troop came to arrest Him? From being surrounded by His disciples, to washing feet, to a walk across the Brook Kidron and gather for a last time in prayer, to be surrounded by those who were hardened against Him, still the miraculous occurred!

Now they say that in Jesus' time there was a bridge over the Brook Kidron, but am thinking it was not like the bridges they had built in the twentieth century. What would it have been like to cross over that bridge if the brook was really flooding?

Has anyone ever thought of the significance of what previously had been done by others in that area of the Kidron Brook? What would play out when Jesus took the last walk to pray there and then be "crucified"?

John 18:1-2.........18:1 When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with His disciples over the Brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which He and His disciples entered. 2 And Judas, who betrayed Him, also knew the place; for Jesus often met there with His disciples.    NKJV

Jesus had been in Jerusalem for the Feast of Passover. After He has His last meal with the disciples and washes their feet, He goes to the Garden of Gethsemane. Interesting truth is that at the time Jesus went from Jerusalem to the Garden, He had to cross the Brook Kidron. Although it was generally dry in the summer, in the winter it was always rain-swollen. The seasonal heavy rains would cause the water to run turbid, and dark. It was a rapid moving river and probably out of it's banks. Rains could hit the high areas around Jerusalem and cause a flood of the low-lying areas.

Yes, it was no walk in the park. This Brook now looked like the raging river, out of it's banks and was moving with a great force! It was probably dark outside as well. Not sure they took a light of any kind with them. No, there were no flashlights handy! (commentaries mention it was probably the 10th or 11th hour at night)
Could the brook have been a raging river and covered the "bridge" at the time Jesus walked with His disciples to the Garden of Gethsemane?

The most interesting thing of where Jesus walked in the time of the Passover was something that would remind Him of the cup He was about to drink. Found this all interesting some years ago in preparing to give a Bible Study on the Garden of Gethsemane.
In light of the sacrifices of the lambs for the ritual held, from where Jesus walked out of Jerusalem and down to the torrent fierce waters of the Brook Kidron, He would have seen the blood of all those lambs ( some list it as 250,000 lambs) as it drained down from the altar area to just outside the Temple mount. This ritual would continue till all those lambs had been sacrificed. Now the blood would drain down the steep side of the Temple mount and color the whole hillside soil with a red color.

In crossing the Kidron Brook, Jesus was crossing the area that was noted by historians as the place some notable kings like Josiah, Hezekiah, and Asa burned idols and those objects of worship to pagan gods. It was even noted that one king's mother (Asa's) had idols of the Asherah and the king burned them in fire. (see 1 Kings 15:13) Whatever the idol worship that was in the Temple, these reformers took and burned outside in the Kidron valley. ( see 2 Kings 23:4-12 and 2 Chronicles 29:16, 2 Chronicles 30:14)
Interesting that Jesus walked through the place that had such a history of that which defiled, was destroyed and burned to be mixed as dust with the earth. Were we not taken from the earth as dust and created?
Genesis 2:7.................7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.    NKJV

Anything that takes our time from God as in worshiping Him, is considered an idol. Whether it is in objects like cell phones, I-Pads, texting, or how about SUV's, how about camping, or fishing equipment? How about all that new furniture?  How about that nice "boat" for weekend use? How about houses or a sport's hero?? How about that nice "expensive bike" for touring the hills? Even people who like fame and importance is idolatry. Did we not see it when Jesus spoke of the Pharisees? Do we have it, or does "it" have us? Anything that captures our attention for hours can become an idol. How about a five hour or so football game, week after long week? Mine is watching too many black and white movies from the 40's and 50's. I have to put a limit to how much I watch!

Ephesians 5:5-10...........5 You can be sure of this: The Kingdom of Christ and of God will never belong to anyone who is impure or greedy, for a greedy person is really an idol worshiper-he loves and worships the good things of this life more than God. 6 Don't be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the terrible wrath of God is upon all those who do them. 7 Don't even associate with such people. 8 For though once your heart was full of darkness, now it is full of light from the Lord, and your behavior should show it! 9 Because of this light within you, you should do only what is good and right and true.

10 Learn as you go along what pleases the Lord.  TLB

His deliberate walk through this brook in its most fierce time, seeing the blood of all those lambs sacrificed, and being reminded of what awaited His mission to the Cross probably caused some distress within Him. Turbulent indeed, chaos, no doubt, but tribulation awaited Him and it was going to have the seal of a kiss by a betrayer.

Mark 14:22-33............22 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." 23 Then He took the cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. 24 And He said to them, "This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many. 25 Assuredly, I say to you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God." 26 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

27 Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written:

'I will strike the Shepherd,
And the sheep will be scattered.'

28 "But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee." 29 Peter said to Him, "Even if all are made to stumble, yet I will not be." 30 Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you that today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times." 31 But he spoke more vehemently, "If I have to die with You, I will not deny You!" And they all said likewise.

32 Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, "Sit here while I pray." 33 And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed.  NKJV

From the passage above, we know Jesus took Peter, James and John with Him into the Garden.  He brought them to pray with Him, but not so much for Him, but for themselves. We find in the scripture passage below that Jesus was desiring them to pray...."Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation".

Matthew 26:37-46............ 38 Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me." 39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will." 40 Then He came to the disciples and found them asleep, and said to Peter, "What? Could you not watch with Me one hour? 41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." 42 Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done." 43 And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. 44 So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. 45 Then He came to His disciples and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand." NKJV

Luke 22:48-53...........48 But Jesus said to him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?" 49 When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they said to Him, "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?" 50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear. 51 But Jesus answered and said, "Permit even this." And He touched his ear and healed him. 52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and the elders who had come to Him, "Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs? 53 When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not try to seize Me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness."
NKJV

Proverbs 27:6........6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend,
But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.    NKJV

Jesus was saying, violate me Judas with a kiss.....??.....betrayal was now in the form of the deceit, a crime against Jesus Himself. Even though coming like a friend, the true witness was one that was "betrayal" disguised as affection. Jesus knew Judas' heart! What Judas held in his heart had nothing to do about the good for another person.

Ever been betrayed by someone you thought really cared about you and your welfare? Jesus certainly was, and yet Jesus knew who the Betrayer would be.  He knew ahead of time who would betray Him. For those who profess and confess to be our friends and even be a part of the Body of Christ, we too, can see betrayers and give a kiss of pretense as to honor, but actually gives a blow to kindness and love. That kind of betrayal will knock you off your feet and throw you to the ground.  If the friendship was coming to an end, this would be the ultimate blow to end it, right?
Yet, Jesus continued to love and forgive. In light of all the treachery, Jesus saw a young man lose his ear, and Jesus healed it right there in front of this barrage of insult from those who came to arrest Him.

Jesus spoke in verse 52, "Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs? Verse 53..."When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not try to seize Me. But this is your hour, and power of darkness."

Like the raging river He crossed, He also experienced it in those who came with Judas. Judas came to assail, to make haste in seeing Jesus captured. But in reality, these men saw the power of God. Jesus healed in seconds the man whose ear had been cut off. These men also saw the mercy and goodness of Jesus. He rendered good for evil. But if anything was evident at the time, it was that these men's hearts were hardened.
Jesus went willingly with them. He spoke no evil. He gave no defense. He showed humility in those of His disciples when He washed their feet. He showed His willingness to pray. He went the distance it took and what great lengths He took to show His caring heart for others!

What He saw in that raging Kidron Brook, He also experienced in dealing with the lives of those who came to seize Him.
What Great Lengths He walked, to the very last, he demonstrated His great love in relationships for those for whom He came to save.
Can we do as much, to forgive even being given that kiss of betrayal? Can we forgive and move forward in life understanding Jesus gave the price for those who show no mercy?
Jesus was not relying on political means to bring about the spiritual ends He came to deliver to us. That love He displayed always exalts God, causes commitments to be made, and to never waiver at any insults, any display of contention against us, or whatever the enemy may be directing toward us. Always remember if God be for you, then who can be against you?

Lamentations 3:22-24......22 The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
great is thy faithfulness.
24 "The LORD is my portion," says my soul,
"therefore I will hope in him."   RSV

His mercies are new every morning. Even if we think we have used up the entire portion of His mercies toward us, yet there is a new mercy every morning.
Gethsemane or the "olive press" is the place where we all come to at some point in our lives.   Like Jesus we can be surrounded by friends, those we teach, those we call friend and even those who know us only by name. Jesus had those who walked a little further to pray with Him, but in truth Jesus prayed for Himself, being hard pressed on all sides, that the Father's will be done in His life.

Luke 22:39.......39 Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him. NKJV

This was a part of Jesus' regular routine, as the above verse states: ....as He was accustomed....and His disciples also followed Him. He set time to be away from the city, and to pray. Separate from the city, He found His peace in prayer to His Father. Judas, the betrayer, even knew where to find Jesus after the Last Supper. He knew that Jesus had taken the disciples to pray. Judas knew Jesus so well, that he could count on where Jesus would be after the Last Supper.
Are we set to walk the "great lengths" Jesus walked? Can we be found praying with our husband, our children, or with those few in the "church body"? When that "temptation" comes and a betrayer can be found, will we be getting to that place of prayer no matter the condition of the Brook Kidron and if it is running at its highest level? Will someone have to text to find out where we are at and what we are doing?  Will it matter that those present have hardened hearts against us? For we certainly saw the miraculous that Jesus performed in restoring the man's ear and His choice to go willingly knowing He had touched God's heart in prayer!

Father, thank YOU for the gift of Your Son Jesus to us………You are holy, worthy and mighty…..we give YOU our praise and honor YOU our God! Thank You for Your mercies that are new every morning. It is You Who destined us to be a part of Your family. You spent much time pulling this together for Your glory. We are thankful today for the precious shed Blood of Jesus Christ. I pray today for families to be strengthened in and through YOU. Today, I ask protection for those who guard their ways in holiness toward You and Your Son. I pray that all who read this and pray will submit to that wisdom from above that begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle, reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. Help each of us to be Your instruments that will develop a community that lives right with You. Help us to gather as families and communicate Your love to others. May we grow in grace being submitted to Your plan for the family and community that will be of love, respect and honor to others. Remind us daily to put others first and above what we are doing. We set these priorities in place to be followers of Jesus and not R-rated movies. We choose to align ourselves with Your Word that speaks and directs us to the Kingdom of God that is endless, blessed, and active. Now thanks be to YOU, Father Who always causes us to triumph in Christ Jesus. Amen.
