Religious Pretender

Heard recently from a leader of a church denomination that one cannot tell the difference between the regular church goer and the one who stays home on Saturday or Sunday. They look the same, speak the same, and sin. In reference to those living in what is considered “last days” we for the most part have not had the famine nor pestilence.  Although the word is out in the news that mosquitoes are being bred to be released in Florida and California starting now. My question: Why? Do they want disease to multiply? Then we have a sound barrier broken  two weeks ago by a meteorite hitting the eastern seaboard. They had to write about it for the sound it made was “loud”. Have you heard about it yet?

But what part of the pretender dismisses all the alarming news of natural disasters, political upheaval, vicious wars, and indescribable suffering and pain that strikes fear in our hearts. Is this the end of time?

We are not to know the time of Jesus’ return, but there are signs to heed as the time draws near. Matthew, Mark, and Luke all tell how Jesus warned the disciples about the end of time. Jesus told them there would be false prophets, Christ-pretenders who come in His name. Wars and rumors of wars will leave countries desolate, thousands will suffer famine and pestilence, and great earthquakes will tremble across the globe (Matthew 24:3-7). “‘All these are but the beginning of the birth pains,’” Jesus declares ( Matthew 24:8).

As the earth shudders in advance of Jesus’ return, men’s hearts will turn toward evil as well. The apostle Paul writes to his beloved friend Timothy warning the time will be difficult. This is found in 2 Peter 3:1. In this passage, Paul identifies more than 20 ungodly traits that will mark men as the time draws near: pride, arrogance, abusiveness, and un-holiness to name a few ( 2 Timothy 3:2-7).

I John 3:4 defines sin as "the transgression of the law," and John 17:3 defines eternal life as "to know God." Here is a Bible definition of the fear of the Lord:

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil, pride, arrogance, and the evil way. (Proverbs 8:13)

The person makes the choice to do what is right and good and thereby evidences his inward disposition, his inward attitude, proving what is in his heart by what others see on the outside—his conduct. He departs from evil. God is taken into account in his life in every circumstance, in every aspect, and in every situation, and he makes the choice to do it God's way. The person learns to hate evil and to love to do what is right, good, and pleasing to God! Godly living is the fear of the Lord!

We are to hate evil!

Jesus was not soft with evil. He was very tough about it and very confronting. In the same way, in our personal lives we need to have some authoritative confrontations against darkness that is contrary to the life of God. Paul says that we are to "cast down" vain imaginations that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God (2 Corinthians 10:5).

Jesus declared: Luke 10:18-19 And He said to them, "I saw satan fall like lightning from Heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you."  Jesus said, "I saw satan fall like lightening from Heaven." That means it was quick and immediate with no delay. These two pictures are much alike. We see the violent throwing down of satan by God. Realize that when you are taking captive thoughts, high things that are evil confronting your mind, you cast them down just as God cast down the devil.

Lift Him Up, Cast It Down! When we are in our times of praise, exalting Jesus, exalting His greatness and authority, there is also a time to cast down those thoughts that are contrary to God's heart and Spirit.

God wants us to experience breakthroughs in our lives. Many people say they love God, but is it equally true that they hate evil? Do they say they hate today’s social gathering to talk with false words, curse words and to wear nakedness instead of what they need to advance in true life. If you dress for church and wear something for a famous singer’s concert, you might consider what or who you serve?  We should know the litmus test of true love for God. It is when We demonstrate our love for God by our lack of toleration for evil in our own hearts. It always begins in our heart: The Word of God is the cleansing agent for our lives.

Psalm 119:11 "Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You."   When the light of His Word opens our eyes to know what is evil, then that is our opportunity to deal with it. We do not go looking for evil or searching our hearts for sin. We Welcome  Holy Spirit to flood our heart/He then brings things to the top of the water. He reveals what should not be there! Yielded to the Holy Spirit, planting His Word within us, we will have eyes to recognize evil. Many times it comes in a form that is pleasant or seems acceptable. Some evil is obvious, while other times it does take Holy Spirit discernment to see it. God will helps us to lean into Him. Let His praise continually be in your mouth and have a joyful, peaceful and glorious day with God!

We can find a fool in the pretender! He is “nabal” found in Proverbs 17:7, 21, Proverbs 30:22. They lack spiritual perception.. They are reduced in their reactions and opinions. They rule their hearts. They do not allow Holy Spirit to have that position in them. The other fool is the arrogant. He is flippant, the morally deficient and very hard in his heart. He rejects God’s wisdom!

Today, New Covenant believers have the conviction of the Ruach HaKodesh to help guide us away from foolishness and being wise, or clever in our own eyes. The righteous of the TaNaKh looked forward to Messiah, today we look back to the cross. But because we have free will, we can choose to ignore His prompting to our conscience. We can say no to God and make it stick! Therefore, we shouldn’t be too critical of these Judeans because we have the same fallen nature. Certainly leaders today want a lot of folks just gone. Too many are acting like children to get their “own” way. What will we do with knowledge? ONE Cannot pretend  if the Lord is leading us in a strong character of the saved one. No more pretending. Life will touch you in some way, some form either by sickness or the wicked one searching for you. Looking for life in Jesus is our way through, it is of truth and life eternally. Amen.

Chaos

What degree of chaos do we look to see where we reside? What decides that amount of chaos? Is it of God or the enemy?

Chaos is found in the first chapter of Genesis. This is not that which God makes over by rebuilding and making new. This is when studied has the nature of two beings. Chaos: Genesis 1:1-2 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. and the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

In the Dake's Study Bible: in the Hebrew the word is tohu va bohu meaning a waste and empty ( Jeremiah 4:23) The earth was not created tohu in the beginning ( Isaiah 45:18) but became tohu because of sin. Satan was cast out of heaven. So here between verse 1-2 we find Holy Spirit hovering. He was regarding the blackness of sin.

In truth chaos began here. In this we call the Bible should be referred to as the War Manual written by God Himself! If you have time to search out these two verses you will find that the Hebrew words were not submitted but held back. In this without form and void is one beast of the system and the second is marked as the darkness. But this is an evil darkness here. And the One who can rid this world of it is a Shepherd with a staff!

This darkness is evil and is filled with confusion, hate, and anger! In this we find Leviathan and Behemoth.  The spirit of Leviathan attempts to keep us from entering the Holy of Holies, into the very presence of God.   No man could go there except Moses and the High Priest; and then only once a year.   This is the third veil, and Leviathan does not want us there.   This third veil was rent when Jesus died on the cross.   This was the veil between the Spirit-filled realm and the very presence of God.   Here Leviathan stands to block entrance.

The spirit of Leviathan attempts to snuff out the lamps (knowledge and understanding); cut off the bread (the manna); and he tries to keep us from offering up daily incense (prayer in the Spirit).   He does not want us to move in the Holy Spirit; to have words of knowledge, speak in tongues, or any other spiritual gift.   He will choke us off with spiritual deafness and blindness, causing us to be tongue-tied.   Leviathan will imitate the Holy Spirit and cause false gifts, healings, and even miracles to manifest in the believers.

Out of his nostrils goes smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron (His nostrils belch forth smoke, thick as the fumes of a seething pot.).     Job 41:20

The smoke from Leviathan nostrils is false prayer and false worship at the altar of incense, and he is commissioned to counterfeit the genuine Pentecostal experience.   Because the person is so bound up with pride, he cannot really praise God.   He is too important, too bound up in himself, to give any real praise and worship to God.

His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal (His arrogance and haughtiness stems from the tight sealed scales covering his body.).   Job 42:15

Leviathan's scales are so close one to another that no air can come between them.   The scales are joined one to another and cannot be pulled apart.   In scripture; air, breath, and wind are synonymous with the Holy Spirit.

The reason many people get so shut in is because of the effects of Leviathan's tight coils around them, inhibiting the moving of the Holy Spirit.  They cannot hear or discern the Holy Spirit, and they say they never get a word from the Lord or move in the gifts.   The reason is that no air of the Holy Spirit is able to get in because this demon has such a strangle hold.

The spirit Leviathan wants us to have the counterfeit; and if we get that and are satisfied with it, he has us.   Leviathan in the pastor, teacher, evangelist, etc. charms or hypnotizes the people, and they are deceived and seduced into believing they are operating through the Holy Spirit.   Today, many are experiencing counterfeit gifts.   Many are requiring deliverance from false, error filled ministries.   Increasingly, deliverance ministries are having to cast out spirits of false tongues.

One of Leviathan's chief jobs is to mock, come against, and block deliverance and/or deliverance ministries.   Most people who fight the deliverance ministry have powerful leviathan demons; and are, therefore, rarely delivered.   Many of the ministers who refuse to open up to the ministry of deliverance are being controlled by a leviathan spirit.

The reason pastors, teachers, evangelist, etc. accept leviathan's lies is because they refuse to believe that they may have demons and are in need of deliverance.  It's not a 'shame' to have demons, the shame is not acknowledging, repenting, and getting rid of it through deliverance.   Instead, they teach the people 'Christians cannot have demons'.

The 'true' deliverance of God is casting out demons according to Mark 16:17- 18:

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils;  .  .  .  they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.    Mark 16:17-18

The Bible says that if we do not love the truth, God will cause us to believe a lie.   The only way to get rid of the demonic influence of Leviathan is to 'cast him out in the Name of Jesus'.

Leviathan stops spiritual growth in people.   They cannot pray or read their bible.   They go to sleep during services.   Whenever there are severe problems with bible study; concentration on spiritual goals; restrictions and bondages which hinder worship or just about anything which is genuinely spiritual and of the Lord; there you will find Leviathan operating.

Depending upon how much control Leviathan exerts over an individual, he can and will hinder and/or stop bible study, genuine edification of praying in the Spirit with understanding, heartfelt praise and worship, fellowship with the Lord's people, and any revival movements.

One of the immediate blessings resulting from the expulsion of Leviathan is a radical apparent in outlook and the whole approach to the spiritual growth process.   Many report a clearing of confusion and a great increased ability to read and retain the Word.

His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone (His heart is as hard as a rock; solid and unyielding as a nether millstone.).    Job 41:24

Leviathan's heart is said to be firm as a stone, hard as a piece of nether millstone.   Here, hard and cold heartedness are tied to Leviathan.   There is no compassion, grace, or mercy.

In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him (Strength dwells in his neck and terror dances before him.).    Job 41:22

The neck speaks of the will. Are you known to have strong-will?   Stiff-necked pride and stubbornness are with Leviathan.   Sometimes strength in the neck can be a negative thing, because Jesus spoke of the stiff-necked and uncircumcised heart.   The bowing of the neck is rebellion, which brings us back to pride.

The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved  (The folds of his flesh close in on each other, firmly and immovably cast upon him.).    Job 41:23

We are descended from Adam; and therefore, easily affected by pride.   This is why Leviathan is so strong, powerful, and deeply rooted in us.   The fascination with the forbidden, feeds Leviathan who wreaths himself tightly in the old self.

Can thou draw out leviathan with a hook?   Or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down (Can you draw out the wreathed sea-serpent, the dragon, with a fishing hook?   Or his tongue with a rope snare)?     Job 41:1

Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out (Flames shoot forth from his mouth, bright as a burning torch).     Job 41:19

His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth (His very breath will set coals aflame, and fire leaps forth from his mouth).     Job 41:21

Tongue problems are rooted in Leviathan.   When he gets in the church and looses some of that fire, he sets the whole place ablaze.

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.     James 3:6

The Leviathan spirit carries the very nature and works of the accuser of the brethren.   The first way that this spirit will attack is with his tongue.   The lying, critical tongue: this spirit attacks out of his mouth with lies, gossip, accusation, criticism, faultfinding, and slander.   He wants to slander your character and bring reproach on your name.

Leviathan is working today through the body of Christ; and we see many churches, ministers, and organizations bringing accusations against one another.   There is a critical, faultfinding spirit at work in churches today judging and speaking against moves of God, ministries, and denominations different from one another.   If you're a quarreler, contentious, always arguing with people, your problem is pride and the spirit of Leviathan.

He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment (He makes the deep to boil like a pot: he makes the sea foam like a pot of ointment).     Job 41:31

Leviathan makes the deep to boil like a pot: and the sea foam like a pot of ointment.   This brings us back to self again.   The deep is where the real you is located.   There is a deep in me, and I'm very careful about who I let in there.

The Leviathan spirit will cause that deep to boil.   There will be a restlessness and turmoil, a constant agitation, deep inside.   Sometimes you cannot sleep well because there is something moving around, boiling in there.   When we get down to the real, true self, we are where Leviathan has his stronghold.   Also, note that this boiling is not only in you; but that it also stirs up other people around you (the sea).

Leviathan can come in to strangle your experience in God in such a way that you can slumber for years without notice.   Many in the church today are asleep spiritually; and God says, "It is time to wake up"!

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.     Ephesians 5:14

Another area where Leviathan works is in causing a variety of learning difficulties for youngsters, especially reading problems.    Leviathan is the source of confusion and lack of ability to retain things we hear and/or see.

Often pains, stiffness in the neck and shoulder region, and headaches located in the back of the head have been traced to Leviathan.   Although this is not the only source for such discomfort, for problems of this nature, check for Leviathan.

Behemoth is found in the book of Job! He eats grass like an ox. His strength is in his loins. ( chapter 40 verse 16) He is slow moving creature found in Job 40. You cannot as man snare him. Jesus is the righteous who does this. And it is coming soon for all to know about! Only God's sword will take him out!

Submit yourself therefore to God.   Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.    James 4:7

You can resist the devil all day long, but there must first be submission to God if you are really going to be free.   You must say, "God, I'm going to have to break out of this pride and become submissive to You.   I humble myself before you and ask for your help."   This is the starting place to overthrow pride.

Seems like so many things are happening at once: like the fire taking out most of Nebraska. It has burned almost a million acres. How about the Meteor ( 7-ton) hitting Ohio? Viewed from a dash camera, you can see this size of this burning rock coming to earth? How about flooding in Hawaii not one but twice in a week? They are getting what amounts to three months of rain in a day! 52 inches of snow fell in Michigan.  Eight tornadoes in Illinois and earthquake in South Carolina. Or how about the meteor that broke the sound barrier in Houston Texas falling into a person's home? Talk about fire and ice....wind with snow making for those whiteouts!

The Good News is that Jesus is both the Answer and the Deliverer.   We know that there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus.   May we all humble ourselves before God and root out all pride for the destruction of Leviathan in the Name of Jesus.

Go and Tell My Brethren to Go To Galilee

To see Him risen: Matthew 28:1 NKJV Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. ( they came to view with purpose in  mind) 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door and sat on it.

Verse 5 But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lays. 7 "And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you." 8 So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word.  9  and as they went to tel His disciples behold, Jesus met them, saying , "Rejoice". So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him.  10 Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid.
Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me."

What were they told?  They were being sent on a Great Commission! It begins with worship! Try going on your own and you will flop indeed!

Foundational Scripture:  Ecclesiastes 12:6-7;11--14 Amplified Bible  6[Remember your Creator earnestly now] before the silver cord [of life] is snapped apart, or the golden bowl is broken, or the pitcher is broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern [ and the whole circulatory system of blood ceases to function]. 7 Then shall the dust [out of which God made man’s body] return to the earth as it was, and the spirit shall return to God Who gave it.

11 The words of the wise are like prodding goads, and firmly fixed [in the mind] like nails are the collected sayings which are given [as proceeding] from one Shepherd. 12 But about going further [than the words given by one Shepherd], my son be warned. Of making many books there is no end [so do not believe everything you read]. And much study is a weariness of the flesh. 13 All has been heard; the end of the matter is: Fear God[ revere and worship Him, knowing that he is] and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man[ the full, original purpose of his creation, the object of God’s providence, the root of character, the foundation of all happiness, the adjustment to all inharmonious circumstances and conditions under the sun] and the whole duty for every man. 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it is good or evil.

We will know death....it will come....that silver cord will be snapped apart. We are warned that under the sun is without God. Take note of our culture today. It is leaving the word of God out. It is culture for the Me, Myself, and I. It is not serving God but self!

 Weakened without Christ Jesus

Ephesians 2:11-13 NKJV  11 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh---who are called the Un-circumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands---12 that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the common-wealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

1.   We were estranged from our Creator our Father

2.   Were without a Savior, living in futility and hopelessness

What might we think of Cain: when approaching God, Cain was coming to God in his personal worthiness.....that stinks

He was not accepting of God’s way

Cain was offering to God what God had cursed, the whole ground of the earth

Cain presented the toil of his own hands:God refused it................ Anger culminated in Cain’s character......... His path was set for rage, set for the unworthy…no good purpose

We saw Christ crucified by the written word of God. We saw also that a Tomb could not hold Him. We know He held His truth to a bloody end. He cursed no one! His strength rose in peace. Men holding hate toward Him used weapons to tear His flesh.

Jesus was given a commission. He met the devil in the desert and gave him a run down of what men and women should do in daily lives.

Luke 4: 4 But Jesus answered him saying, " Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word of God. verse 8 Jesus answered and said to him, "Get behind Me Satan. for it is written you shall worship the LORD your God and Him only you shall serve."  Verse 12 And Jesus answered and said to him, "It has been said, You shall not tempt the LORD your God."

Jesus had time to worship God! He was always praying and seeking the Father's hearty. He had an unlimited greatness........................Believing Power Demonstrates Strength

Ephesians 1:18-19  Amplified Bible 18 By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light; so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones), 19 And [ so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength.

1.   Strength of God is in us who believe

2.   That strength is demonstrated through us when our eyes for seeing is flooded with His light

3.   That is our hearts must be filled with His thoughts, His ways and His plan

 Ability and Freedom

Galatians 5:5-9  Amplified Bible 5 For we, [not relying on the Law but] through the [Holy] Spirit’s [help], by faith anticipate and wait for the blessing and good for which our righteousness and right standing with God [our conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action, causes us to hope. 6 For [if we are] in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor un-circumcision counts for anything, but only faith activated and energized and expressed and working through love. 7 You are running your race nobly. Who has interfered in (hindered and stopped you from ) heeding and following the Truth? 8 This [evil] persuasion is not from Him Who called you [Who invited you to freedom in Christ]. 9 A little leaven ( a slight inclination to error, or a few false teachers) leavens the whole lump [it perverts the whole conception of faith or misleads the whole church].

1.   Faith perverted is evil persuasion

2.   It is not of God, for God is of truth, energized and expressed through love

3.   By the Holy Spirit, we are to anticipate and wait for the blessing when conforming to God’s will in our thoughts, our actions that results with hope in our heart

2 Thessalonians 3:5-6 Amplified Bible 5 May the Lord direct your hearts into [realizing and showing]  the love of God and into the steadfastness and patience of Christ and in waiting for His return. 6 Now we charge you, brethren, in the name of and on the authority of the our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) that you withdraw and keep away from every brother (fellow believer) who is slack in the performance of duty and is disorderly, living as a shirker and not walking in accord with the traditions and instructions that you have received from us.

Repentance is required. Worship is so important. Righteousness is not earned, it is the gift of God! Galilee represented a place of faith found in John 4:45 So when He came to Galilee, the Galileans received Him, having seen all the things He did in Jerusalem at the feast for they also had gone to the feast.

The Speech in Galilee was noted: Mark 14:70b "Surely you are one of them; for you are a Galilean, and your speech shows it."

And Pilate's cruelty toward Galileans: Luke 13:1-5   NKJV  There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And Jesus answered and said to them, "Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans because they suffered such things. " 3 "I tell you no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish."  4 "Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem?"  55 "I tell you, no but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.

God is first, last and always! He is to be our love. We should know His demonstration of faith in Father God. Worship keeps us held in that secret place to give voice to His holiness and mercy! May we know the Man from Galilee who spoke and people heard. They held a faith of Him that He would return. Are we watching, waiting for His return? Will we know when the end is near? Prayer works! It worked for Jesus for the coming crucifixion and a commission to send others toward.

You might be from Washington, from Wyoming or Texas and certainly people might know where you are from. But will they also know if you believe in Jesus or hear about the next dinosaur movie! Our hearts prayer is that you stay alert. We hear Him coming! Let us worship! Okay?

Our Spiritual Biography

Dead to Sin!

Romans 6:8-11 NKJV Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Spiritual biography is that each who receives Jesus is dead to sin. No longer controlled by the love of sin or its ruling power in our lives. It is dead to enslaving us with its power. Each day we have a choice whether to yield to sin, to let it reign in our bodies or stand firm it has no place in us.

Sin has died  because Christ beat death to the finish line. He settled the account. He lives as God and now lives in that new relationship as the Risen One, Resurrected Christ in that new sphere where sin cannot enter!

According to Romans 6:12-17 is that sin’s dominion has been broken by grace. Romans 6:12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, whether sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.

James 3:2 For we all stumble in many things, if anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

What Jesus finished is that work He accomplished against sin. He did a work of faith. That work was perfect faith. He revealed obedience that demonstrated the reality of His righteousness. If anyone says it is okay to sin, is one tending toward antinomianism. It is contrary to Paul’s whole discussion of sin and to Jesus’ own words about the law we see in Matthew 5:17-20 NKJV 17 Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.  18 For assuredly I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the  scribes and the Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus spoke this of the scribes and the Pharisees as they taught false doctrine. This was the tradition of the elders. They were not only legalistic but also strong in their commitment to the false doctrine. Sadducees were those rejecting the Pharisees. These were those coming from social families and considered rationalists and materialistic. They did not accept the supernatural! So they would not receive Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. And these two groups hated each other.

So, too, you would have many groups with a belief system that has nothing to do with Jesus!

For us Holy Spirit has moved in us. He is there representing the power for holy living. And he is motivated by love for the Savior, not as to a fear of punishment but of God producing holiness. Romans 6:1-2 states plainly that Christians are not to sin, that is, break God's laws. Therefore sin—and thus God's law, which tells us what sin is—must still exist.

It cannot be both ways. If they say that the law is done away, then in the biblical context, it is logical to conclude that there can be no sin. It is therefore illogical for them to claim that it is still wrong for a person to murder or to commit adultery because those sins would not exist without the laws that determine they are immoral or illegal acts. But the true answer lies elsewhere: Their conclusion that the law is done away is wrong!

In Romans 2:1-3 we see this! Romans 2:1-3 NKJV  Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. 2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. 3  And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?

Oh, how we can see our faults more clearly in other people indeed. Yet for us, we fail to apply them to ourselves. Our own reaction is so often to criticize negatively that we usually do not see that we are guilty of the same things as seen in others. If we find a certain type of behavior especially irritating in others, we may have the same problem!

To illustrate this blindness to our own sins, recall David's sin, recorded for all the world to see in  2 Samuel 12:1-5, when God sent Nathan to show David his sin with Bathsheba. Nathan told of a case in which a rich man who owned many sheep had stolen a poor man's pet lamb and killed it to eat for dinner. King David was outraged that anyone would be so greedy and selfish, so he pronounced the death penalty on this man. Then Nathan quietly pointed out that David had done the exact same thing when he stole Uriah's wife and sent Uriah to his death.

David was a man who, when he recognized his sin, would deeply repent. So how far his heart fell at that time, we can only imagine. He must have been devastated by his own weakness in sin.

What angers us about others in God's church? Consider this carefully, since in the answer may be a clue to our secret sins. "For you who judge practice the same things."

A friend was over this week. She has had some health issues but we expect her healing. She mentioned a specific thing going out by this gentleman criticizing those of a new program about Jesus. A friend sent it to her to see his complaint and I guess to prove he was right!  We had just started watching the Jesus series this past year and was caught off guard about this guy bashing the new program about Christ. So we listened on her phone that was sent by a friend of hers. We knew this had only two seasons and this man certainly pointed to some things.

But what captured us was that the man relates like the disciples are saved when walking with Jesus. He was not crucified, dead and buried. Jesus and John the Baptist had the Holy Spirit, but the disciples did not. They were being given the word of God, but they stood and walked and slept in their sinful natures till they could repent and receive Jesus as Lord. We must be cautious about people. We must know them where they stand and if they know of the Lord. Because without Jesus, they know not of their sin nor of their sinful natures before Him! Peter knew his sin when we refused to acknowledge that he knew Jesus, not once but three times he said he did not know Him.

Side Effects of the world are seen daily who choose to follow a sinful life, who persist in siding with the flesh and standing tall in culture, but siding with God is love and being full of unspeakable joy with much humility.

2023 is not the year to be deceived by satan. He as light can make you think about the light of God, but he will force one or more of his own designs into the pot and when deceived by them, one can choose to follow him without any arm-twisting. You can see that with the "gentleman" choosing to bash a program of Jesus that is taken word by word of the New Testament. He rallies with his own to bring deceitful ways and acts before you. But 2023 is to be the year for the believer with no side effects, those of the Lord’s way in truth and grace understanding that sin was done away. He carried sin for us, & in His mercy, we are new each morning!

We arrive on the wings of the Holy Spirit’s power to be in the right places at the right times for the plan of God for our steps are ordered in Him. May we not be committed to that which causes side effects to death but that which is to life and see with the light that shines at noonday in Jesus name.  When we were slaves to sin, the only freedom we knew was freedom from righteousness. Now that is a desperate condition indeed. It is bound to evil of every form and free from every good thing. In Paul we are challenged to take inventory of the fruits of an unsaved life, fruits in those activities of which we believers are now ashamed. For time is certainly squandered, influence is misused, best friends are wronged in some way, and our love is anything but nice nor friendly.

May we become slaves to righteousness in His name for His sake. For in you and I, we should know that to be our spiritual biography!
