Is this really Fruit Loops?

Fruit should appear as fruit and taste like it!
When our daughter had just completed kindergarten, the new school year was about to begin and there was a project of one cereal company to add a bonus packaged cereal to your big family sized box of cereal. To us, it meant someone was trying to manipulate our child ( or children) into this new way of eating too much sugar. And at the time, we had gotten a box of cereal, something like with bran but there was something added like a bonus called fruit loops was attached to the box.

Of course, when our daughter saw it, she asked for it. Not to have a fight about cereal, we opened it, although adding no milk to it, but only putting some in her hand for taste. Telling her to taste each color, and then she spoke that they all tasted the same. Then she said, " why would they call it fruit loops"? She tasted the last color exploding with the sugared flavor, she shook her head, and walked away and I am left holding this small box of cereal, oops I mean this box of sugar and put it away for good. ( And I was wondering how someone could get away with telling another as a child that the colored stuff was fruit!) Now anything from the beginning given as a lie will not make a foundation firm for anything!

On thinking about this early on today, I was reminded of an incident that is in the Old Testament. It was this: Genesis 38: It came to pass at that time that Judah departed from his brother's and visited a certain Adullamite whose name was Hirah. 2 And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was Shua, and he married her and went in to her. 3 So she conceived and bore a son, and he called his name Er. 4 She conceived again and bore a son, and she called his name Onan. 5 And she conceived yet again and bore a son and called His name Shelah. He was at Chezib when she bore him. 6 Then Judah took a wife for Er his first-born, and her name was Tamar. 7 But Er, Judah's firstborn was wicked in the sight of the LORD and the LORD killed him.

You know visiting others not with God, is everything outside of God and outside of purpose in God. Judah lusted after a daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was Shua. From the Dake's study Bible, they listed Er as being fifteen years old when he took Tamar as his wife!

Genesis 38: 8 and Judah said to Onan, "Go in to your brother's wife and marry her and raise up an heir to your brother." 9 But Onan knew that the heir would not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in to his brother's wife, that he emitted on the ground, lest he should give an heir to his brother. 10 And the thing which he did displeased the LORD; therefore He killed him also. 11 Then Judah said to Tamar his daughter-in-law, "remain a widow in your father's house till my son Shelah is grown." For he said, "Lest he also die like his brothers." And Tamar went and dwelt in her father's house.

Genesis 38:12 Now in the process of time the daughter of Shua, Judah's wife died; and Judah was comforted, and went up to his sheep-shearers at Timnah, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite. 13 And it was told Tamar, saying, "Look, your father -in- law is going up to Timnah to shear his sheep. 14 So she took off her widow's garments, covered herself with a veil and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place which was on the way to Timnah; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given to him as a wife. 15 Then he turned to her by the way, and said, " Please let me come in to you" ; for he did not know that she was his daughter-in-law. So she said, "what will you give me, that you may come in to me?" 17 And he said, "I will send a young goat from the flock." So she said, " "will you give me a pledge till you send it?" 18 Then he said, "What pledge shall I give you?" so she said, "Your signet and cord, and your staff that is in your hand." Then he gave them to her and went in to her and she conceived by him. 19 So she arose and went away, and laid aside her veil and put on the garments of her widowhood. 20 And Judah sent the young goat by the hand of his friend the Adullamite, to receive his pledge from the woman's hand, but he did not find her.

Genesis 38: 21 Then he asked the men of that place, saying, "Where is the harlot who was openly by the roadside?" and they said, "There was no harlot in this place." 22 So he returned to Judah and said, "I cannot find her. Also, the men of the place said there was no harlot in this place." 23 Then Judah said, "Let her take them for herself, lest we be shamed; for I sent this young goat and you have not found her." 24 And it came to pass, about three months after, that Judah was told, saying, "Tamar your daughter -in-law has played the harlot; furthermore she is with child by harlotry." So Judah said, "Bring her out and let her be burned!"

Genesis 38:25 When she was brought out, she sent to her father-in-law, saying, "By the man to whom these belong, I am with child." and she said, "Please determine whose these are---the signet, and cord and staff." 26  So Judah acknowledged them and said, "She has been more righteous than I, because I did not give her to Shelah my son." And he never knew her again. 27 Now it came to pass, at the time for giving birth, that behold, twins were in her womb. 28 And so it was, when she was giving birth, that the one put out his hand; and the midwife took a scarlet thread and bound it on his hand, saying, "this one came out first." 29 Then it happened, as he drew back his hand, that his brother came out unexpectedly; and she said, "How did you break through? This breach be upon you!" therefore his name was called Perez. 30 Afterward his brother came out who had the scarlet thread on his hand. and his name was called Zerah.

Humans can be moved by immoral acts. BUT Born-again people should not be moved by that in regards that they are regenerated by the Holy Spirit into living for God. But here we have a man who made a promise. Evidently the man was making promises he could not keep and she, Tamar, knew him for being the immoral and without restraint and integrity. For he had sent her away to live in her father's house till the boy, Shelah, became a man. Now remember in those days, the men mostly took young girls for wives, so Tamar was  probably not much older than Shelah when he was born.

Still, this Judah acted out a scene he had done before. His wife now gone and his time of living returned without her by his side, he goes to help shear his own sheep. And he sees this woman beside the two springs area. She has the look of the "harlot". She has on eye makeup and the attire of a harlot.  But knowing his habits, she requires his authority be given her. She required his signet, his cord and staff. So when the Adullamite shows up with a goat, the woman is not found. No one has seen "this harlot".

Interesting how you can get someone to see the harlot and others do not see! Judah's plan then is to tell no one of what occurred. But alas this Tamar is pregnant. And she has those objects in her possession. The righteous is seen and the unrighteous wanted to hide his real identity and the object of his pride being outwitted.

In truth, Judah rejected the covenant family's marriage traditions seen in Genesis 24:3 " and I will make you swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell;; Genesis 28:1 Then Isaac called Jacob and blessed him, and charged him and said to him: "You will not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan.  So here we have the son Er, and was the wicked person in the Lord's sight and married to Tamar!

So Tamar was left behind in that marriage when Er was killed because of wickedness. Then Onan would not mate with her for children and he was killed. Disreputable behavior can be seen when one starts to lie and call something what it is not. Because the father, Judah was enamored with those God said to stay away from, his own boys became like what he lusted about. His first son was wicked like those people Judah married into. And Onan, well, he chose to spill his own fluids on the ground and this was evil in the sight of God, too. It was Judah's marriage to the Canaanite woman that was the very first step into intermingling of God's people with a race that was the proverbial for its gross immorality. God had warned them not to do that. Judah fratenized with the world and paid a really big price.

Keeping authority is remembering to be righteous in the Lord. In describing the scene so clearly one would have seen this when Judah did not hesitate to bring Tamar to justice. No quiver would be found in his voice. He would not have shuddered in any kind of fearfulness to have his first son's wife brought up on these charges. It was the Israelitish society that must be preserved from folly and much wickedness. Preparations are made. The stake is planted in the ground, the pile of wood is arranged and the crowd gathers. Tamar walks into the scene. ( to me it seems like a horror movie!) But she carries the authority given her. He, Judah, who called for the justice now himself  must face the justice of God!

She was righteous in what she did although dangerous.Yes, this was about reputations, pride and honoring or worshiping the wrong thing! If Judah had remained within the family heritage of covenant seen in Genesis 24:3 or Genesis 28:1, then he would have not had his life revealed as the idolater and fornicator.

Busy about life, and he forgot about God! Busy in his own ways, and he failed. He was not a man given to truth. He refused to give his son Shelah to Tamar. And she, who was influenced by no other means than that which was the common to all Israelitish women, that desire to have children who might be heirs of the promise made to Abraham, did what she could for a family she knew was hers.

Conflicts appear! And we are to be those who commit to peaceful ends, but conflict is with a fight for righteous ways in righteous behavior having that characteristic of integrity. For we prevail by God's words, a truth with no threats but warnings indeed and it only comes to those committed to work it out in the justice of God.

Even to a child of seven, our daughter did not see fruit. All she saw was a box with colored objects which the label read out was that of fruit. It did not appeal to her and from a cereal manufacturer maintaining their voice of saying it was so was wrong then and it is wrong today! Even so to us as adults should not be chasing after that which has no integrity, no life or peace in it. Because if you follow after lies for long enough, you will either become like the lie spoken or you will fight not to win over another, but fight to prevail in truth where your character is seen of righteousness and not to be appearing as a fruit loop loaded with sugar and absolutely no substance for good!

WHY Have You Put a Luggage Tag on Your Big Toe

My husband and I were watching this adventure type show: two older women who do that special garden work ( those who studied horticulture and the such) and how they use their expertise to solve those varied problems in people’s gardens which look more like parks and situated within in the United Kingdom. One such episode they made this observation about how people carry their problems around while alive with the noted truth they have attached a travel tag to their big toe instead of to their luggage.

They noted when people are in the extreme mode with a stress that their garden (or park) is not growing or fairing in all the quality that has been put into it, they will sooner or later seek a horticulturist to help them find out why the garden isn't up to its best look of beauty. In those regions where the garden is everything, they will spend large amounts of money and time to get the desired result whether it is for a backyard or an acre or two off the side of a castle.

They in their speech pointed to those people who with the extreme desire had extreme stress for the garden to live. And in their choosing that, the work had to have been yesterday. Those with such demands live on the edge mostly without God. To live in His presence, you know and understand what is required for the Holy Spirit teaches us the way to go or walk.

In the estimation of these women, these people required some more teaching on what they were striving to attain, and one such point appeared as to the talking according to plants and soils needed for such plants, say like roses. As you know you never put a new rose plant into soil that has grown roses before. You create that “new bed” with new soil to receive the new rose plant. Another point they pointed to was that I noticed that they talk about over watering any plants. Just because the plant appears yellow does not mean it means more water, but that it requires more nutrients and many times it is magnesium for a plant if it is outdoors! The excessive watering had washed the important minerals out of the soil.

Now this may seem odd to you but as a born again believer we too can know what God plants in us a new heart for His kingdom. And how is that new soil planned and laid out? For one is planned through His Son Jesus Christ! John 14:1-6 Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 “and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 “And where I go you know and the way you know.” 5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

We go through the Son Jesus and into that place where we grow! We go into God’s word and find what is ours. We find that we have an inheritance. We find that we are seated in heavenly places. And we know that we have an opponent. So too, these people who regarded their gardens should have known their opponents and what those enemies could inflict to their newly planted roses and bulbs. You would have to know what to put in your soil and what to leave out of your soil. Flaws can appear within the soil of our garden and within the soil of our hearts. Our children gave me this beautiful Begonia for a gift last month and I have been reading on it. I would certainly want to make it thrive instead of putting a tag on it for death!

Only truth and life come through Jesus Christ. God has desires for us all through our lifetime. We are to understand that He has thoughts for us: Psalm 139:15-18  Amp. Bible   My frame was not hidden from You when I was being formed in secret [and] intricately & curiously wrought [as if embroidered with various colors] in the depths of earth [ a region of darkness & mystery]. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance, & in Your book all the days [ of my life] were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them. 17 How precious & weighty also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! [Psalm 40:5] 18 If I could count them, they would be more in number than the sand. When I awoke, [could I count to the end] I would still be with You.

He thinks about us and knows our ways and many times you and I may not want to  follow His ways: Ps. 139:1-8   Amp. BibleO LORD, you have searched me [thoroughly ] & have known me. 2 You know my down-sitting and my uprising; You understand my thought afar off.  3 You sift & search out my path & my lying down, & You are acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word in my tongue [still un-muttered], but, behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.

But we should want to do nothing else but follow Him. Yes, our Father knows what will tumble out of our mouths if we speak long enough. And if we have kept watched to fill our heart with His truths, then we grow like that beautiful English garden. We grow where we have all the right nutrients we require, not overly watered with just water, but watered with His truth so that nutrients are received when they are given.

But many times, you and I can tell Him that we do not like the message, or we do not like the messenger. But in truth, God’s word is His word and it is to be received in that of which it was sent: by His Son, through His blood of sacrifice and His love. God wants to lead us, but do we pay attention to His leading?

God sent His Son that we would live for Him: 1 Thessalonians 5:5-11 NKJV 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. (self-control) 7 for those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drink at night. 8 But let us who are of the day be sober,  putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.  9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. 11 Therefore comfort each other & edify one another, just as you also are doing.

Just like in a garden, where all the plants stand tall in their beauty, we too belong in that kingdom of God. We are planted deep into His richness. We are planted in His holiness and righteousness. We stand to glorify Him. We belong to the day and not darkness! Ephesians 6:14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness.

We who are those who have salvation through Jesus Christ; are to the sensitive to the Lord and be alert and be prepared! We are to be prepared as His children, the sons of God.  We were saved in the past, in the present we are being sanctified by the Holy Spirit’s work in us and through us and we share in the Lord’s final triumph…the glorification.

We have participation in the kingdom of God:1 Thessalonians 2:10-12 NKJV 10 You are witnesses, and God also, how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe; 11 as you know how we exhorted and comforted and charged everyone of you , as a father does his own children, 12 that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

God our Father is the Vinedresser. John 15: 1 Amplified Bible I am the True Vine and My Father is the Vinedresser. 2 Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit [that stops bearing] He cuts away ( trims off, takes away); and he cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit. 3 You are cleansed and pruned already, because of the word which I have given you [ the teachings I have discussed with you]. 4 Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me and I will live in you ]just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in ( being vitally united to the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me. 5 I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.

Work in shaping trees for growth and within gardens takes many hours of sweat and time! A garden takes time to plan and a time to work the ground of soil to receive what is planted in it. Jeremiah 17:5-9 NIV 5 this what the LORD says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD. 6 He will be like a bush in the wastelands; he will not see prosperity when it comes. He will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives. 7 “But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. 8 He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has not worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” 9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?

Our trust is to be in God the Lord. Our heart is to understand that what we receive will come from Him and will we see it if our heart is captive to the flesh of man?  No, we will not see it.

Have you seen those salt fields in countries like Italy or here in the United States? Most of those places that produce salt have few people living there! People have to move there and build to work that salt into a product for consumers in other countries.  But it is still a salty land. It only produces more salt in a dry place till rain or some type of moisture covers it.

So there is a great difference between the salt land and bearing fruit. For a plant described in the salt land is a bush.  And if you know or have family who have lived in a desert region, you can know that in that desert that a tree without water, pruning or nutrients will stay or remain according to the size of a bush. But if this same bush had water, pruning and nutrients, it could possibly grow into a great big tree. To care for a tree in any region requires someone to give the proper care. And our Father desires to give us care and comfort as we grow and become a tree for His glory. That we can dig in deeply for our roots to hold to His kingdom that has come. That you and I can remain green during any drought and we can bear fruit with no worries in sight! Psalm 1:3 He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.  Psalm 92:12 the righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13 Those who are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing to declare that the LORD is upright; He is my rock and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

No salt flats for us! We are to live in a glorious place God planned. It is neither dusty or dry land filled with disappointment but it is a place of God’s kingdom where faith is alive in Him and where His love comforts us.

Deuteronomy 33:26-27, 29  NKJV “There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, who rides the heavens to help you, and in His excellency on the clouds. 27 The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you, and will say, ‘Destroy!” 29 Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD, the shield of your help and the sword of your majesty! Your enemies shall submit to you; and you shall tread down their high places.

The God Almighty of Genesis to Revelation is the God of the present and the ages to come. He is security and He is prosperity! For we are to enjoy Him, His protection as our shield and our sword, He is the God of glory, power and strength!

It is great that your plants have tags on them to tell you what their name is, so when you take them home, you might discover what sun and soil they prefer best to live and thrive! If you have tags for travel, make sure you have them on the right bags to note that place you are traveling to whether for work or fun so that they arrive when you do!

But if you are choosing to tag yourself because something did not work out for you in the workplace, or someone passed and you expected them to live and not die or you had high hopes for a word given last year and as of yet still has to be fulfilled, it is time to take note of Your God and His love for you. For He loves each of us. He is the God of Comfort, and He will hear us in that pain of anguish, but we are to see and know His love that comforts that heart that is broken with sadness.

We are reminded in 2 Thessalonians 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit & belief in the truth, 14 to which He called you by our gospel for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast & hold the traditions which you were taught whether by word or our epistle. 16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, & our God and Father, who has loved us & given us everlasting consolation & good hope by grace, 17 comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word & work.

God had you on His mind! He chose you, set you apart for purpose. He chose you before the foundation of the world for salvation and through sanctification, you feast on that which is revealed by the Holy Spirit and the word of God. Hold fast to that belief in His doctrine: it originates in salvation, by divine choice, brought by divine power…for in this divine message the will of God is perfected in His divine glory.   No tags here, but only benefits in our God the Lord: Psalm 106:4-5 NKJV Remember me, O LORD, with the favor You have toward Your people. O h, visit me with Your salvation, 5 that I may rejoice in the gladness of Your nation, that I may glory with Your inheritance.

Our inheritance in the Lord came through repentance of sin to receive salvation. In Him we have peace with God and integrity with people. We stand against that which conflicts against His truth and we prevail valiantly. Psalm 60:12….Amen!

Eternal Home

What a grand day that will be when He appears and may be sooner than later.
Was reading an obituary today from the area my husband and I grew up  into our teens and still in our respective homes. I recognized the name of a young man who was son of someone my husband and I went to school with many years ago. Their son being some few years younger than our daughter, I read of his history. I had read the many times he had fought against cancer  and came out victorious. I also read of the healthier lifestyle he worked toward in eating healthy. His life mentioned his marriage and some years later a son being born to this loving couple. And this wee one, too, had some  special type cancer that could be serious for a small child. As I read on of this young man, the survival of his young baby and all the things he, the father had done in his life and read of the whose who in the names his had been listed with as some might know from rock n roll to musical artists and the such. I noticed his date with death and while within this reading I desired to  looked over the other men and women who had passed from this same community in the month of December in 2018. In many of these I saw the obits listed: each denoted " this loved one left for their eternal home"!

John 17:2 tells us that God gave His son Jesus authority over all flesh , that He should give eternal life to as many as God had given Him. And verse 3 of John 17: And this is eternal life , that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
Eternal life is found in the eternal home with Jesus Christ.

Within these two verses we find that eternal life is knowing God the Father, and Jesus Christ , His Son, the Savior of the world. Now, not all men will be saved! That is evident today when so many seek their own agendas. But God had one plan and that was for a family! He desired to know those He had created and purposed for this day and hour of time.
John 3:33-36 NKJV  33 He who has received His testimony has certified that God is true. 34 For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure. 35 The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand. 36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on Him.

Certainly no one wants to think of the wrath of God at the time when one has lost a loved one, and scripture tells us that we can pray for them before they die.
In this Isaiah tell us from verse 21.......Isaiah 59:21 “And as for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the LORD: “My Spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your offspring, or out of the mouth of your children’s offspring,” says the LORD, “from this time forth and forevermore.”
Now this is something that you and I should pray for our grown children and their children indeed!

These are two verses that we meditate on:
Proverbs 20:7 The righteous who walks in his integrity— blessed are his children after him.

Proverbs 14:26 In the fear of the LORD one has strong confidence, and his children will have a refuge.

As parents we are to bring up our children in the fear of the Lord...that is to know Him, and honor Him! In that fear of the Lord scripture tells us from Proverbs 8:13..... The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate.

In that very fear of the Lord we find His wisdom and knowledge to hate evil! Wisdom is paramount in God's plan. And to live life, is to live for Him through Him. That is receiving Him as Lord and be led daily by Him in all decisions we must make either as the young couple just starting out, the couple with children in the home, and for the older couples with children gone from home to raise their own children.
Each generation will be marked for His glory and to His praise. We are to know Him and speak as He would speak to us to our own children. For death will come since Scripture is clear that it is appointed unto man once to die...(Hebrews 9:27) and then the judgment. And Hebrews 9:28 continues.... so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

Jesus' sacrifice for mankind was securing us to a personal and intimate access to God ( Hebrews 10:22) We are to await His coming with an eagerness of heart and with a victorious cry for we are the redeemed and we continue to speak it!
Psalm 107:2-3 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy, and gathered out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.

He brought us out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces. 15 Oh that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!  16 For He has broken the gates of bronze, and cut the bars of iron in two.( Psalm 107: 14-16)

For you and I who fear the LORD we have strong confidence in knowing we have a home with Him eternally. Our lives are lived by faith in Him. Our actions must speak loudly that we live by faith in Him, trusting He has us. Our responsibility is to live in confidence following His rules and commands. They are not burdensome. His instructions allow us to live in His grace and in that we have refuge.
The Apostle Paul wrote this in Romans 14:7-8 that "whether we live...or die, we are the Lord's.
We are to live in God's truth and do what is right for ourselves, our children's and all those we come in contact with on a daily basis.

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
That is where the rubber meets the road: when people see our witness is in Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. For when we stand all our days for the Lord, in our marriage, in our work, in our business and in raising our children, we stand giving witness to the One true God.  We endure to meet our Savior face to face and live eternally with Him. What a grand day that will be when He appears and may it be sooner than later!

Arguing with the Fence Post

Don't Argue with the Fence Post!
When I was growing up, and still at home with my parents I loved the stories my dad could tell. He surely had a colorful life. He had grown up in the "depression years" and knew how hard it was for many people to feed their families back in that day and hour!
But for sure, he had a story to tell about the things that one might take for granted. He loved showing young boys how to build a fence, how to rope a steer and how to drive a semi tractor trailer. Still he had a love of horses and for laughter. Our kitchen was the gathering for those times of laughter. Especially in the summer, our dad would bring home some of our cousins who would either be at the feed store or the chicken farm. These young boys would dress in their denim jeans like Levi's, wear those cowboy boots and have a hat that matched.
They would gather around the table, although too antsy to sit, but close enough to hear the stories my dad could tell. I was reminded of this verse from the Bible.
Proverbs 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine; but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

In this we are reminded it is a good thing to laugh. It works like a medicine. It seemed that we spent many hours laughing at the things that make one forget the gray areas of life. It was not about strife or criticizing others but generally how my dad would get into stuff and have to "figure the way out" of that thing.
For some folks though it is hard for them to laugh about some of the things they have done in their lives. For many they want others to remember them for their "good only" and not some of the mistakes they have made in their lifetime. I certainly would not desire to speak on some of the goofy things I did, but I can say drugs was never a part of my life. I was told early on in my life that my parents would know if I did "something stupid" and then I would answer for it and not sit down for a week. I believed them!
But all people can and do make mistakes at sometime or another in their life and never desire others to know of the "stupid is as stupid does" kind of thing.
Still others like notoriety. They like being right and was thinking of Balaam today and the donkey speaking to him. Now Balaam was a prophet and he ignored God's will, so God opened the mouth of his donkey to rebuke him. Still, within the enormity of this supernatural element of a talking animal, it was Balaam who began to argue with a dumb beast. (Numbers 22:25-30)

It was one hot day I believe in the summer of"68 and my dad was building fence. He had added some livestock, and was having our cousins help him build a stronger fence.  Now when my dad built a fence, the cedar posts for the corners was put into cement and was expected to be there for many years.

Now of this one specific day, one  of the young fellows was not agreeing with the work ethic. For my dad, integrity was important as was the quality of work to be done. Every "man" was expected to do his fair share of work if being paid for doing it!

The other variable was of teamwork and somehow one member was not up to the job or work to be done! So yes, a story came out about it. Yet, all of us at some time did not like the work that had to be done, but someone has to do it. YOU can find that out when you and your husband have given birth to a baby and when it is time to change "the baby's diaper".
One such day I remember being at work. It was like the beginning of a new year. People were excited, talking fast about their new year resolutions and losing more weight to gain more muscle mass. Anyway, this young boy decided to be "sick" in the very middle of the room where we had about 20+ kids playing. With rain outside and some high wind, it was not good to take the kids out of doors. Still the room had to be cleared and some of the adults moved as fast as they could to get some of the younger kids away from "the sick" on the floor!
Many of the "kids" were moved to another area of the main office.
Left standing there were two of us adults. YOU guessed it...we cleaned it all up and sprayed the carpet and sprayed the air then we sprayed our clothes.....Yikes!

Yes, some people have their ideas about work and that work ethic includes: integrity, teamwork, but it also includes quality and discipline for that job. But when our dedication to the job is beyond ourselves, then we can do for others. For we should not be like Balaam who argued with a donkey nor we would or should we be arguing with a fence post or arguing with an animal.

Today, I can look back and hear some of my "dad's tales" and remember he had some mistakes in his life, but he learned from them and made people his priority. We too can see things that should be done but will require some discipline rather than just thinking of that "paycheck" but it is about people's lives and helping them be better too! In allowing laughter, we can see the mistake and avoid it.

I long for the laughter to fill our house as it filled my parent's home those summer days. I long to see people filled with the Holy Spirit and to know that God has a place for them when they receive His Son. For within our existence, we learn many things, but family and laughter is key. To do anything less is sin! Without laughter we stagnate the atmosphere. If we abide in doom and gloom we will fall victim to our own abilities and our own way of doing much like Balaam did!

For each of us face hundreds of choices and decisions daily. Fortunately most of them are not life-altering.
Should I go with veggies for all my meals only today or "all week"?  Should I get the ultra-whitening toothpaste or the kind of vitamin that restores brain cells? Oh yeah, I need to lose about five pounds of weight!

But just as surely  as the new year begins, many of us face difficult and life-changing decisions. I’m so grateful for God’s incredible promise in Psalms 32:8:I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
As my father taught us to laugh, our Father God teaches and guides us for his own glory. Our Father desires to lead our lives of maximum effectiveness and fruitfulness for His glory. He desires to display his goodness, kindness, mercy, and transforming power through us. God wants to counsel us more than we want His counsel.

He shows us the way to go because He is a loving Father.
Let's not argue with God our Father about anything. Let's just do what He asks us to do. My father asked that we obeyed His instructions and when it was time to leave home, we knew a job was a good thing, being married to the right person was a good thing as well and laughter would add zest to our lives.
Laughter is a good medicine for us everyday. Let us find that merry heart in God, obey His commands and expect laughter to invade our homes. Truly the joy of the Lord is our Strength: The spirit of rejoicing, joy and laughter is our heritage. Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty….an emancipation from bondage………… Maintaining that walk as the son is by the Holy Spirit and it is by our remaining in the joy of the Lord who is our strength! Amen
