Running to the House

Was thinking in the days of my youth, we as children in our pre-teen years would walk down to the river on my uncle’s farm. We had heard all the snake stories where the bulldog Mustard was bitten several times in his lifetime but always lived to see another snake in the river. Besides all that, it was fun to walk or even run to the river’s edge to have talks of what our summer would be like that year. Anticipation filled our speaking as our future in the sun and fun without school was good! ( we thought)

And we would finish that walk to the river either by seeing one of our cousins take a swing off the rope to land perfectly with a big splash that centered in the river. Cheering him back to shore we watched to see any movement toward the waves of the water and when seeing none, our voices tired of speaking of summer events to come, we ran with a force back to the house. Now our hearts were set on the hot cookies that would be coming out of that hot oven. Running meant we would see who could run the fastest and who would reach those fresh baked cookies just out of the oven.

Running to the house takes a different meaning for especially me today. Running is like seeing the Apostle Paul do all the wrong things to close his life doing all the better things in God. He a leader with certain garments giving voice to his calling, still in the later days, he would do the speaking with Holy Spirit leading to do right and fulfill the Father’s promise in his life. He would find himself still speaking of the Lord, the Gospel and His salvation but find himself behind bars.

In one teaching we hear Paul arriving at 1 Thessalonians 5. And it is here the apostle Paul urges the saints to reorganize those who labored among them. Dealing with  “problem brothers: included the unruly with irresponsible behavior, to comfort the faint-hearted, to uphold the weak: those who were spiritually weak and give support to those weak in the faith…….and of course to be patient with all.

We are told in verse 19 to not quench the spirit! And this meant to not stifle the work of the Holy Spirit. Limiting Him is stifling Him. Adhering to the traditions of men is stifling the Holy Spirit. Keeping up with man-made rules is again stifling Him, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit should have full access through our spiritual frame: giving of praise, being prayerful, being thankful and the teachable keeps us in that justice of God and lights our way into His truth keeping and to avoid evil.

Even here the apostle was running to the house. It is the house of our Father God of where he ran!

We still walk to the River. No not the river called the Leon River in Texas. We no longer plan our summer events, but expect Him to appear before us. We run not for the cookies though they tasted really good, but we run for the best place before Him. We run to see His face and experience His presence. (I can smell His fragrance even now.) We run to reach Him when we hear Him speak, to hear His voice and pronounce His blessing. To hear Him give life to that which barely moves, to give life to see with new eyes and hear His peace and experience His love over our lives in a truly evil world.

We have His guiding personage in the Holy Spirit. And by Him, we reject evil today. We reject that which tries to speak it needs our support. No we support the truth of God, to know God and have revelation knowledge of Him. Our purpose God placed in us, that anointing is available every minute and also available to us to know the evil of Satan and his plans and tactics to destroy man.

May we not be weak, no backbone people, but be the strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, and that we are more than conquerors through Him. He conquered death, hell and the grave and chose life and not death. We chose to walk in His light and resist darkness for the Lord returns and He will find faith on the earth. (Luke 18:8)

My Redeemer lives. He was wounded for my transgressions, He was bruised for my iniquities. The chastisement for my peace was upon Him, and by His stripes  I am healed. He reaches from the cross to take me with Him. He reaches with blood on His hands for taking our sins. He reaches with a thorny crown and shows me His revealed crown of glory. In His reach is nothing but love. In His reach is nothing but wisdom of God and His great peace! In His reach is a consuming fire of brilliance  revealing love from above but not to consume you or me.  But of Him we are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God----and righteousness and sanctification and redemption-----He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.

We run to the store for an article, a food maybe or paper for schoolwork. We run down to the bank for that deposit or we run to pick up the kids or granddaughter at the park. People in their everyday living have that run on the mind, never thinking of God or the Son of His love. We bask in weak stuff, forgetting the mighty thing, yet God triumphant in Jericho when the wall came down. He reduced Gideon’s army to a mere 300 from 32,000 men. Samson defeated an entire army with the jawbone of a donkey. And when we prayed with our niece for her dad to go home from hospital before Christmas, he went home to be with family for Christmas. Faith is the stuff the mighty have fully in heart. Faith moves the mountains of doctors, their agendas and more tests to prove God is alive and makes a glorious love in this hour for those who love Him!

Remember it was Samson who ran to meet the army might. Gideon met those who would be alert to that which would appear before them. And a people marched around Jericho in silence for seven days and then a shout went up! Unity with God is so very vital in this hour we live. Unity by faith living His word, giving that word and shouting if necessary that our God reigns.

We might run to do a chore, do a thing as take a meal to a hungry family, but we also must run with our hearts to the Lord who Redeems. We run without any doubt, people of faith, expecting His kingdom to appear. Yes, run with all that is with you for the Lord lives and He moves where angels will not tread. But God is for us and He will not forsake us.

In Isaiah 45: 2-3 NKJV I will go before you and make the crooked places straight; I I will break in pieces the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron. 3 I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places that you may know that I, the LORD, who call you by names am the God of Israel.

In this King Cyrus would see the Egyptian booty and control of Egyptian trade routes. Those called by name, those called to be reconcilers will bring the light of the gospel even in the dark places the enemy tries to take us…to bring unwarranted sickness when we have Jesus as Lord. Still we live in a world of sin, plaguing others, we seek the Lord’s heart and know HIM as the God of Israel.

Those knowing their heart for the Lord, will do valiantly. Their trust is in Him always. They speak to the mountains trying to rise higher in their lives. The mountains of the enemy must move out of our way. The Lord will straighten those pathways when we truly know and confess from our heart His word of truth. Then the path levels out for our good!

How will we act in just living day to day? How will others see us in the height of wealth, the despair of disease, the lowest rung of the ladder starting over after a sudden divorce or death? How will they see us? Do any of these occur ever? Yes, they do occur and can come. But we look up to His return. We seek our future with Him. For in darkness of the enemy, we live to see the light of the Lord and to bring that light to others at work, at the hospital or medical center. We seek to be light to others in whatever situation may be occurring. But we rise, in Him, we rise to give voice to His goodness in the land of the living.  If not us, then who and if not now when…..for tomorrow may be too late!

We run to meet this new year! We run not hesitating but always looking with eyes of wonder on Him who brings such beauty to a failing world. We run to meet the brightness of His coming for He brings light everywhere He goes.

We run, not limited nor hindered! We run to light. We run to truth. Without Him we can do nothing. Let’s take Him at His word and trust, morning will come with joy and dancing. The night has almost ended, for it is His joy in us that rises….it reaches the heights of heaven…and is better to us than anything the world could ever offer. Amen and Amen.

Health Wealth

Have you ever wondered how some people out live their children or grandchildren? Have you noticed those who seem to be agile and strong in their seventies and eighties and then you come upon those who are only in their fifties and sixties and they seem to creak, releasing weird sounds from  their bodies and they move like a snail on the ground?

Psalm 90: 10-12 The days of our lives are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet their boast is only labor and sorrow. For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.  11 Who knows the power of Your anger? For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath. 12 So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

In generations past ( some 60 years), maturity was found among the seventeen to twenty-one year range of age. People lived in harder environments, they lived in harsh weather without special coverings and protection. They traveled great distances to get from the place of their birth to the place they would have land, to plant, to work for a harvest and to build in that place. The life they expected, where they were responsible people to grow their food, make a place as a home of safety for family, to ward off any adversity from wild animals to outlaws in a vast wilderness, with no trains, planes or automobiles.

Those becoming of age, either educated or taught the life of a farmer or what some call too, the blue collar worker regarded a trade that would cater the farming industry as well as to the community in need of repairs requiring engine repair, welding relating to fencing for cattle or any livestock or to those like the garbage collector, firefighters, and police service. Men or women at or considered of age to work had capability to be responsible and those living in the early days of television, each had a maturity without television, that onslaught of commercials or television programs or movies that teach drinking parties, good times, fun in the sun with an ale or beer, sporting events, to take one into the night to knows what, and then you see those tropical beaches, revealing a tropical breezes, dark tans and the people there are not you!

What I know as my generation, we grew up knowing God in our school with prayer. We knew God at home, at work and within family get-togethers. We grew up knowing how to plant seeds to grow food and see our parents and grand-parents canned suchs food to keep a family well fed in the cold of winter to stay healthy indeed!  It is a known truth that television came on the scene in the mid-fifties of the last century.

It is also a known truth that commercials declared you could see the U.S. A. in your new Chevrolet for America was asking you to come and call on America. By the mid-sixties there were soap operas that sold more porn than soap. By the seventies, it was roller skating parties, boogie nights, pet rocks, and Atari games that were coveted. And it was at this time we saw little of the growing food for home and family, little family time together, unless you have four wheels on each foot, and speed cream in those bearings within your wheels on fancy skates to move you faster down the roller rink floor. In the seventies, words heard a lot were oil embargoes, OPEC, and many like us saw long-lines at the gas stations and people on strike: like the meat butchers and the milk industry.

THE Eighties brought greater party times: for there were now floating floors to skate on as the concrete floors would wear you down. You had musicians with hair longer than yours. ( and looked much nicer than our own hair) Most of their songs made no sense unless as a youth you had watched many soaps like that world was turning, secret storms, and days of our lives operas. At this time a greater defiance appeared in many. That is when one took an ugly way and tried to assassinate the President of the United States. Movies depicting going back to fix something to somehow correct yesterday that was affecting today,  to those movies of living far away removed places like on other planets and yes Death star..  What was wrong with the planet we live on? The songs sung pointed to being physical,  and yes, with Betty Davis eyes, and the importance of every breath you take!

The eighties seen in 1982  presented "The Computer"  named Time Magazine's Man of the Year. Microsoft released "Word" their word processing program. ( now how can a computer be a man of the year, I ask you that)

1984 Band Aid records "Do They Know It's Christmas?" a charity single to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia. Are they not still suffering famine in that country?

1986 The Chernobyl nuclear reactor explodes in the USSR..( and people cannot live there today) ( latest report we heard over the winter was that soldiers went there on a military patrol and got radiation poisoning! Yikes!

1988 Two years after the Challenger Disaster, NASA's Space Shuttle program resumes..

1989 The Berlin Wall is torn down at the end of the Cold War.

The eighties marked the start of the computer AGE!

In the nineties we saw the Gulf War begin. The nineties have been viewed as that of peace, prosperity and order. But we know of novels which came to light that produced the illusion and work of witchcraft.  It was the first three released to be read in America.

The quality of television was raved about as the “improved”: but it was far and away from the things of God. It was about me, me and me! New channels added to T.V. those premiere channels which add a hefty amount to the price of cable and the such, well they included soft-core porn too and then suddenly they went further! NO fences now, the ambition was a brilliant idea to ushering that cable thing and bring in more of the world right to your lazy comfort chair.

THE digital age, of course, got fully underway in the ’90s. At the beginning of the decade almost none of us had heard of the web!  In the nineties my thoughts were not on browsers, search engines,  nor that of digital cell phone networks!  By the end of the decade we had them all.  Yes, the end of the nineties decade marked people had cell phones, but not smart-phones!

Such technology at your fingertips indeed yet  it mostly heaped distress and work on you to the greater degree. It brings the things of the world into your hearing and you’re seeing. It does not show the area of responsibility to work and live with that attitude.

In the generation we live in today, the mature come to being the responsible around thirty or so years not as in the earlier generations where the normal was 17-21 years of age some 65-75 years ago. Many graduating from college return to live at home with mom and dad and remain footloose and fancy free to live as a child. They are fashionable extroverts, the carefree daredevils or the clueless pleasure seeker or junkies referring to what degree they have evolved to in that pleasure seeking. Their highlights include a late morning rise at noon, make it out of the door by late afternoon and seek the night life where everything is hidden in the cover of dark. Tomorrow you will hear of their sudden death from taking something they thought it was medicine like Oxycodone but it was not. It was a drug dressed like Oxycodone and yes dressed in something appearing as death. It is a look alike but not the same created to help in pain and the such, no this is inserting a death pill that is created  by those who desire to put death in people. The devil has done a work indeed.

Yes, the times have changed. People have changed their attitudes and minds for a culture and left God out of it. They choose night over day, they choose sleep over work and at night they choose play over a good night’s rest. They dress different and choose to find drugs dressed as they are dressed. They choose to lose themselves in something that is fake much like our news today.

Back to Psalm 90: 10-12 The days of our lives are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet their boast is only labor and sorrow. For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.  11 Who knows the power of Your anger? For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath. 12 so teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

By length of strength they are eighty years: Message Bible We live for seventy years of so ( with luck we might make it to eighty), and what do we have to show for it? Trouble. Toil and trouble and a marker in the graveyard. Who can make such anger against the very ones who fear you?

Written by Moses, he sought to pray. He understands God is always in His role as Creator and Almighty Father.  Colossians 1:15-17 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And he is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

In this Psalm man relates to man’s frailty. He uses grass, the favorite of O.T, metaphor for that of mankind or human life, he speaks to God’s awareness. He speaks of His omniscience.

Acts 15:18 — "Known to God from all eternity are all His works."

Romans 11:33 — Oh the depth of His riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!

1 John 3:20 — For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.

Hebrews 4:13 — And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Romans 2:16 — God will judge the secret things of men by Jesus Christ, according to [Paul's] gospel.

Then he gets to what we see as the number of years in verse 10. And we must know that this applies to what dietary restrictions and purity life one would live out. But we have seen that even what seems to be the best at the time can be bad to the temporal body in a length of time. ( Like finding out that mercury fillings in teeth from the mid twentieth century can kill you later in life) That is why being born again and allowing Holy Spirit to lead us, we will not end up in the place of not only the bad but also the ugly place. No Holy Spirit leads us to the wealthy place in the Lord!

If you have a generation not actually starting to be mature till their thirties in this day, they only have a half life to live out. The psalmist asked the Lord to teach us to take advantage of short lives. And in my estimation, I considered my life short when I was eighteen. Always hearing my father to speak to remember that life was short and we had to make the most of every moment of it God had given us. So the Lord has given us Jesus, and He wisdom is made unto us to become alive unto the kingdom of God. It is spiritual and active. It is alive unto God and His power and might. It is life God meant for us.

But sad to write, only a remnant will truly know the fullness of this. The Bible speaks of that remnant. We can be directed by God’s word, see Him now, always recognizing His voice, His walk and leading. But for others, they will know the voice of mom or dad, know when to leave the house for party city and return in the dark of night to start over again, unless they make the trip for that pill or that next drag on a smoke, for they find that pill dressed for death. And if death pill finds its way into their mouth to end the life that truly God had purposed for victory to live for valor, then how sad one did not live for the Lord and to His praise. How sad so many have died not knowing what true living was. How sad to never know the loving God who sent His Son to save us: those who would put their trust in Him!

Health Wealth: Philippians 4:6-9 MKJV  6  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8  Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9  The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

We need to pay careful attention to this sequence of instructions because it contains much that can help us attain both good spiritual and physical health.

In the past fifty years, men have come to understand how deteriorating and destructive stress is to life. Paul's counsel, written nearly two thousand years ago, tells us not to be driven by anxiety or fearfulness about life.

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus admonishes us to "take no anxious thought." The stress of anxiety is wearying, setting us up for multiple afflictions. If we really "see" God, we should know that He is with us. Should we not feel great assurance in His promise never to allow us to be tempted above what we can bear? Faith is a prime solution for anxiety.

Urged by Paul , we are to let God know our needs in every matter of life. As Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount, He already knows our needs, but He wants us to recognize, evaluate, and communicate them to Him, accompanied by thoughtful expressions of thanksgiving for what He has already given, as well as His promises of blessings in the future. Do we see what this process achieves? It disciplines us to think within certain well-defined parameters that have Him and His way at the center of our life and our focus.

Paul then asserts that one benefit of this is tranquility of mind, respite from the restlessness so common to the carnal mind, which is constantly searching for new stimulation to satisfy its insatiable longings. This peace of God will stand guard over our minds like a sentinel, allowing us to meet and cope with the problems of life.

In the peace of God, we see God’s way for coping with the problems of life. Our minds occupied with God and with the things God speaks as the true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy. Through this discipline, we program our minds with the right things; what goes into the mind determines what comes out in words, actions, and attitudes.

If we would only stay out of America’s dump ground found in television, you know that  "garbage in, garbage out, we should adhere to the wholesome in, wholesome out". Jesus' statement, "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks" (Matthew 12:34). We could take this further and say that out of the abundance of the heart the mind thinks and feels, and the body acts.

Are we putting our best foot toward a health wealth or a garbage holding lot for that which culture dictates? As what Paul defines what is wholesome specifically as what they had learned, received, heard, and seen in him, as he was indirectly telling them to eat Jesus Christ because he, Paul, as His apostle to the Gentiles, was His agent to them and their teacher of His way of life.

May we stay clear of that which steals, kills and destroys. Our Father desires to give us a long life indeed.

Insulted or Despised Does not Matter

Instruction came from an angel! What would these shepherds do with that instruction? They were enraptured to see this CHILD! The miraculous appeared but it soon turned dark again. Living in the field with sheep probably brought many nights of wanting a change of life for those shepherds. And then suddenly one night an angel appears. Suddenly, the message is given and they hear of this CHILD. And they must go and see. They must do what is given in that instruction.

Did they face harassment because of what they spoke? Did they encounter some unbelief of what they saw and shared? Scripture tells us that all those who heard it marveled at those things which the shepherds told the people.

Luke 2: 13-15 & suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God & saying:14 “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.” 15 So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, "Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us."

Luke 2:17-18 Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning the Child. 18 and all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

We cannot give goodwill to another if we have no goodwill towards God. That is, we each must have peace with God. Many proclaim Christianity but are far from Him, know nothing about Him and yet speak of a place with Him. But their mouths speak of decay, death , lack, they speak despair, and of loneliness. They speak love, but the love they carry has nothing to do with God for God is love!  You ask them about heaven, and they mention they are going! But they speak nothing about Him Who is the way, and the truth and the life! They give no words that He gave about His going back to the Father as seen in Scripture! (John 16:16-17)

Goodwill for others is cooperating with God in other people’s welfare. It is having the same kind of benevolence God has toward us as believer’s.  We are here to encourage others in His Word and by prayer. When meeting with someone either from the workplace, from church or maybe a neighbor, we are to remember that “iron sharpens iron.” And it is for that which is purposed for their life. In giving someone the word of God is for that purpose for which God has placed in them and to help them grow!

We met someone new on Sunday of the last week. He told us he had been reading diligently Hebrews 11 the Hall of Faith chapter. And we regarded that as instruction to us that we too should keep on that walk in the Hall of Faith!

Yeah, an angel might not appear, and the brilliant light may not be seen! The magnitude of angels singing in chorus the praise of God may not be heard, but there will be within the speaking that gentle nudge given by the Holy Spirit. You will hear Him speak, “you can do this!” "You can read this and learn something."  In the warmth of the words spoken, one can then move toward their future. Still others, the word can be loud and demonstrably resounding with that word "NO, don’t do that"! It can come loud and strong, like a bull in a china cabinet, still when someone is in danger the Father will speak to His child to rescue them. But many only want that soft gentle word and not the corrective one. Many want their flesh stroked and keep heading down a roadway with signs in the ditch reading: DEAD END!

But our Father does not want us to learn the hard way, you know attending the School of Hark Knocks. It it that place many attend yearly, gaining only worldly wisdom and defeat! But for you and I, we are to study and know God's Word to stay out of mistakes by the wicked or the foolish!

God still speaks but do we listen and obey! Do we go about our business or His business? Are we grateful for what God has given to us in this life? For many of us,  He gave us parents ( a father and a mother), He gave us good health, a home, He has given us teachers to teach the word of God, He has given us opportunities to work in earning a paycheck and become responsible citizens. We have been given the opportunity for long life in Him and do we seize it?

We have been given opportunity to rise and give voice for Him when others appear downcast and lost! We have been given mentors who give guidance by God’s word, to be the responsible and to teach others to do the same: BE RESPONSIBLE!

But being responsible is in that which is of God: His truth, His justice and His righteousness. It is not beating people up with mere men's words to get an agenda in place for some man's benefit. So persecution is evident when you have someone trying to push their agenda on you when there is no place for it.

Many a wealthy person has used their wealth as a tool to harass others. And our Father God knows those who are the oppressed today! Persecution comes from those with thorns. And sometimes you might seem to be in a briar patch with some stinging going on when pricked on the skin, but in the reality you are encountering those who are without God! Obedience is what is required for following the Lord.

He has given us purpose and it is for His glory to be sent out in His power. And as you go out be cautious of what you might submit to or bow down to. Scripture tells us to Submit to God....resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7) We are to be actively resisting the enemy as we submit to God. The devil has to be reminded of  what God actually said. So we speak God's word back to the devil like Jesus spoke to him as well! No, we do not carry on a conversation with the enemy but we do put him in his place.

In our sphere of influence: you and I will carry Jesus….He is “I Am” & He is in our midst. God is personal, living, active, all-knowing, all-wise, and all-powerful. By faith we can proclaim boldly that honoring God is more important than the praise of  men or from men! As I write this I have the grateful heart towards our Father in all His goodness. I am so grateful to HIM for all He has given to us through His Son. I am thankful to be alive in this moment of history to declare the Lord to many. I am thankful for the loving family He has placed around me to encourage and tell me to never give up! For we have hope in Jesus. He is the anchor of our soul! I am thankful for all of you that I can encourage you in this day and within this moment of time. I may not know your face but He knows your name.

In that we have hope as we look forward with a desire, we look forward with a confidence that God is on the scene and the expectation of our heart is that God is not done with us yet.  I am encouraged that my life is not going to be cut short by something that is not God honoring.

No, the end is not yet, not for those faith people. For we, the faithful, look toward 2022. Our heads are raised high, and our body’s submit to the strength of God…to rise at His command. Like many, we faith people are the committed to God's plan, that purpose He set forth in the Beginning. (Genesis 1) His Son appeared, and it was declared Who He was. And as Jesus told them to go, we too, go in His name. We go into the business arena, into the marketplace, into the daycare, into diaper changes, public meetings, and school board meetings to display Jesus in our hearts! We write letters to the Editors and tell many of the truth that God has for those who love Him. WE give the Gospel to those who require a Savior Who is Christ the Lord!

For telling others of God’s word or even of Jesus’ return should not intimidate us. No, we have the Holy Spirit residing on the inside of us. The same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is ever present. Encountering the public, a person appearing as one big thorn may give an insult or despise us because we are people of faith. They may try to cancel us, but they do not have the last word on it. They may act and stick like a thorn, but God loves them and we give them over to God. He our Father has the last word and He speaks it best!

He may not send angels to sing a song or give the praise He surely deserves but He does know my name and yours as well. He knows the hairs on our heads, not sure why, but He cares. And He gave us His truth where justice resides in the depths of His love.

For Scripture reminds us that when insulted or despised ……what is proven in truth is that the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you and I! ( 1 Peter 4:14)

And that to me is the answer to God being honored by our lives! Amen!

Too much cheese can put weight on a person, make that person feel sluggish and draw rats to themselves! Was hearing a new teaching over the weekend and there was a word that captured my attention in the pastor’s speaking: He said “too much cheese”. As he continued, he spoke of “too many rats”!

In the definition of cheese: a food consisting of the coagulated, compressed, and usually ripened curd of milk separated from the whey; b: an often cylindrical cake of this food ;is something resembling cheese in shape or consistency

And another meaning is something cheap or shabby : cheesy material cinematic

As a transitive verb: to put an end to STOP……….cheese it!

As slang:  someone important

Synonyms for cheese : crapola,  junk, muck, rubbish, sleaze, slop,  slush,  trash, tripe

Yes, cheese can take a whole different meaning and look when you consider the words like sleaze, or trash, or how about crapola? And then you have that “rat thing” to contend with!

I always knew “rats” as rodents. I always knew at least since school days that they can transmit disease. And as I got older, I found people who would curse using the word “oh rats”! Now, I am not certain why anyone would call on rats to come to them, but they did. I really liked this lady and I am not certain that she still lives, but if she lives, she is a great teacher of the word of God. She could tell you all the names of God and what each spoke of His characteristics! She knew historical events of Israel, of the scrolls found in the desert and how the Hebrew nation grew to become what it is today. She always glowed with the love she had for God and His people! And yet this lady would screech loudly in dismay at times: "oh rats!"

As I was reading some on the definition of rat in a dictionary today, I was amazed that even my dear grandmother who passed many decades ago would curse using this derivative from yes, the word “rat”. Her word was “oh shoot” or “oh shoots”!  So as I continued to read on this three lettered word, I think back to my grandmother who would not be happy to find out that she was cursing!

As I looked again at the meanings given of rat, one called informal ….listed rat as one who will desert one’s party, and gave the sentence of: “ those siding with him giving him support and others rattied on him and joined a King’s forces.

That word “ rat” given as a “person” is a contemptible person: such as one who betrays or deserts friends or associates. That rat can also be known as a “scab”. Now that name “scab” I know when coal miner’s went on strike back in the 1980’s in the Montana area. And when some of the men who were not happy about some crossing that picket line, the men and women who really needed the work to feed their families, many of those crossing got called that name of “scab” a lot! And that those same who would choose certain names to shame and bring hostile action to another could be seen using metal things thrown in the roadway to cause flat tires, to cause blow out of tires and damaging such possessions required to get to work.

Another definition I noticed too, was the one of a “mall rat”…one who spends too much time at some place choosing not to leave for home.

It is interesting to me to this day, that many are choosing to love others and forget what God’s word speaks about loving others. They will bend down as to worship to allow someone’s feelings to not get hurt, not give them truth of  their requiring a Savior and never give them truth as they cross each other’s paths each day till said person has either moved away or died!

That loving is where peace of God rules and is that place of safety for all in that space. If we are choosing to walk with a sign in hand or picket in a “space” are we doing that act as the rat or one who loves God and loves people to see people live and not die? Is that picketing with others for the right thing in God or is it putting people in harm’s way to destroy others on the way to finding answers that is given only by the flesh creature? Is that only creating more chaos and disorder and not laying hands on a true solution to end the problem or situation at hand? Is that picketing truly for change that is good in God or just for a 15 minute platform of fame where people die?

2 Corinthians 10:3-6…KJV..3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Imagination (KJV)( from verse 5) is that which is conscience and is of conceit!  Conscience is that motivation deriving from logic the ethical or the moral principles that govern a person's thoughts and actions. It is viewed as having a moral sense, or scruples. (that sense of right or wrong)  Conscience is the conformity one has to their own sense of right conduct.

For the Children…to….Adults…..finding out what is true……..and strongholds must come down…alignment with God and His Word of truth… ( Imaginations that is of conceit: Their speaking is a boast in themselves,  children….impress their parents and can get loud about it..) Children want their space and to have a voice. But they must not lead your family!

Adults : those who speak of themselves in great length and about the ability of being great in themselves..( their egos is that which gives way to a self-flattering oratory, and they also carry an overly positive self-regard) Are mentally active for themselves….planning more for their life, their comfort, their fun times…they do not regard their neighbor…  From this passage, our warfare is not “against flesh and blood” but in God we are God empowered against that flesh.  In God we fight against that which is “selfish”!

Anything that is opposing God and His will is the lie. Paul is talking of the warfare in the mind, a warfare  against  arrogance, those rebellious thoughts, and ideas ….yes, those arguments against God. And we know that our God is to be prized.

Philippians 3:13……13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended, but one thing I do, forgetting those thing which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.

Captivity is bringing every thought that is contrary to virtue, purity and righteousness…….(By living righteously and seeking God, He gives us more of His Spirit to help us grow in grace and overcome sin through the knowledge of God

2 Peter 3:17-18…NKJV.17 You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and forever. Amen.

We, who have received Jesus as Lord, are called righteous, not because we have the ability to accomplish good works, but because we reside in the righteousness of Christ. We abide in His obedience and learn from Him!

This contact is so vital for it proves beneficial both for God and for us! Our loving service of Him is also the same as loving ourselves. What we see in these two intimate relationships is a practical application and benefit of the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do to you".

When you have one thing go wrong, how long before the whole of your surroundings, your environment …your whole world of existence comes falling down on your head? And how long is it to when you take to voicing what is wrong with everyone else because of what is being done to you or what is touching you?

Yes, that rat and those who gather to eat that cheese will gather to chant the same thing. Somebody did them wrong and they want someone to pay! I keep thinking of all the young babies being born today into a country who will not see any debt of this nation paid off. I think of those who choose to spend, and treat others with shabby behavior and expect to be praised and have money entitlements to boot!

See, there is a great problem with self-love. For without contact with God throughout life, an individual's innate self-centeredness can easily develop into an extreme and sharply honed sinfulness and evil. An egotist gives little thought to loving others as a way of life; he shows little care for others and rarely looks for ways to serve them! Without God, life becomes all about the self and everything in its safe walls of self till someone is trying to take it, their self made world away. The world, established by and built upon selfish human nature, continues to feed its self-absorbed inclinations and cravings.  It is readily available just at the touch of a finger to a certain key on the cell phone or remote control for car or television. We know this because of the amount of movies and commercials that cater to those fleshly desires is still being made and deployed for greed in great numbers. That is harmful to the man who really needs to live in God and to see his life is done in the power of God.

Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. – 1 Peter 5:2-4 NIV

We “feed” others by the love that we have for Jesus. You and I can not feed others say by the love of some man who lived hundreds of years ago, who journaled only of his life with God, not about that true, the life and light of God and then expects others to obey it! For only life is in Christ!

I was hearing an account of Billy Graham and the love he still had for giving others the love of Jesus. I heard those who followed, and one who gave a testimony to follow Jesus as Billy Graham had followed Jesus. Dr. Don Wilton gave such a glowing word about the man Billy Graham and he spoke of those Saturdays he would drive to see the elder Graham in his home. Of their conversation such a sweetness as of the Holy Spirit was present in their midst. Dr. Wilton continued to speak and tears welled up in his eyes and they welled up in my eyes as well. Will we still be speaking of the goodness of God, His love for man and the greatness to send His only Son to die for us when we turn eighty or a hundred years old?

Loving others is giving them the truth of what God has given us through His Son Jesus Christ and not any man! And many will not come to the light for in that the darkness in heart will appear. Sin is embedded in many media props, movies and even in many commercials. The things advertised today would not have been advertised sixty years. But today it is about making money and the most lazy way to do it indeed! But life in God was a high priced paid for that true life: John 3:17-21 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned, but he who does not believes is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he Who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen that they have been done in God.

Everything that was done in Jesus was all done in God! 3 John 11 Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.

Unless we call homelessness what it is, no one will find a solution for it! Unless you actually call abortion murder, you will only find it closer to your door. Unless you call sexual immorality, obscenity and profanity what it is, then you will only choose to embrace it and bring it into your home to be idolized. We must not choose the cheese, that every opposer to truth. We must bind the world’s word system to stop changing God into something He is not. He is always true and He is always light. Jesus did not come to condemn but save. But many are choosing to be right, to be on the side that is winning at this moment, or so it appears but for the wrong thing. Yet, God wins. I have read the book of Revelation, and sin highlighted by sin finds it final place in hell.

Truth should be coming out of us in every conversation we have, & every deed we accomplish. We should not appear as “the rat”. Any life we touch should be of the Lord, that people who do not know Him will be drawn to faith as they see what He is really like. What is taught to others should carry the Word of God, the fear of God, & the power of God. Without these, the result is a dull, lifeless message without any life of God! No vitality nor zest of the Lord would be seen or experienced.

Psalm 96: 3 Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples…..The glory of God is substantial or heavy. It is honor, splendor, power, wealth, authority, dignity, riches, to excel…in God.

Vanity of man is futile. That to live as a rat only proves no love for a wonderful loving God our Father. We have a right in Him, to obey Him for His love to us. His generous Spirit has brought us close to His heart, to hear Him speak and abide in that presence that is warm, welcoming, and beneficial to us. May we go in that way which is of life and light where God rules our heart and songs are heard out of that heart as worship to Him and not as slurs to destroy another human being.
