In the history of Israel, David was challenged by Goliath. Daniel was placed in the lion's den! Elijah was challenged by Queen Jezebel. Some of those men and women are spoken of today through the books of the Bible and especially those of faith in Hebrews 11!
Yes it was recorded in the New Testament of those men and women of faith who faced opposition that caused some to die in their standing for truth of God, His mighty deeds and the promises given them! In each case of those recorded for us, we find men and women who encountered their Creator in personal ways that was evidenced that is more than just a force of power, but He is worthy of approach. And of that approach one must come to Him in faith believing.
By believing Him, we come boldly to His throne of grace. We speak freely to Him knowing He is there to hear us. In that belief we seek God with our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
In thinking of what Jesus faced when He was baptized in the Jordan River and immediately was sent into the desert or wilderness area to be tested by Satan, we see that anything to do with God will bring the devils out of hiding!
Have you ever thought that the adversary's title on earth would be The Administrator of Curse? Yikes! Now would that be a title you would want?
Still Jesus knew who he was when we read in Luke chapter 4! The devil was quick to flaunt the world's kingdoms and their glory! Still Jesus maintained His focus to that for which He was called.
He said this in John 7:25-31 NKJV 25 Now some of them from Jerusalem said, "is this not He whom they seek to kill?" 26 'But look! He speaks boldly, and they say nothing to Him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is truly the Christ? 27 However, we know where this Man is from; but when the Christ comes, no one knows where He is from."
28 then Jesus cried out, as he taught in the temple, saying, "You both know Me, and you know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but he who sent Me is true, whom you do not know. 29 But I know Him, for I am from Him and He sent Me." 30 Therefore they sought to take Him; but no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come. 31 And many of the people believed in Him, and said, "When the Christ comes, will he do more signs than these which this Man has done?"
Jesus was being challenged on who He was and what He came to do! In John 6:35 Jesus declared, '" I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. Jesus having fed 5, 000 people is still being asked to do a miraculous sign to help others believe. Each of us must seek Him on our own. We each must receive Him in our hearts!
In the Light of the World: We are told this in John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, " I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. You and I must apply what He has given into our lives and within that we discover that Jesus is our answer!
Jesus is our answer to sin issues, to money problems, and even health issues!
Jesus Our Gate: John 10:9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out and find pasture. Jesus Our Good Shepherd: John 10:11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. If you have been in church long enough you find truly good shepherd and not so good shepherds. Some are just willing to leave their "sheep" for their own safety. But Jesus risked all. Our Shepherd is He who knowingly and willingly died to save you and me!
The Resurrection and the Life: John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, " I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. The single qualification is Jesus paid the price for the way through His death for our sins. Truly He is the Way, the Truth and the Life to us! John 14:6 reminds us of these words. Jesus answered, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Jesus: The Vine, John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. Truly without Him you and I can do nothing of ourselves. We truly need Him!
If you are being challenged today and they look like your boss, your doctor, your mother-in-law, or the neighbor next door, know that if you are born again, you have Jesus living on the inside of you. He spiritually sustains us by being our bread! Through His light we find our way through difficult situations. For He truly gives us His wisdom and understanding for living by His precepts for life!
Worried about the future and challenged by people speaking too may words. Remember Proverbs 10:19 ESV when words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent. Proverbs 18:2 ESV A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion. God's wisdom is available to us for all circumstances and in every season. We have the gate into His kingdom that has come. He paid a high price for you and I to enter and we should take advantage of doing that!
Whatever challenges you today, remember the Lord is your strength, and He will show you the way through. By faith today, move into that abundant place of answers for your life. Allow the Lord to demonstrate His glory through you in the workplace, in your home, at the Doctor's Office, or with the neighbor next door for He will show Himself strong in you and through you and within this others will come to know Jesus is with you, always!
