I have someone though who speaks all the time, even while I sleep and He is the Holy Spirit. He is always telling me things to come and am I listening? There are times I think I left the T.V. on or the C.D. player is still going when I finally realize, that it is the Holy Spirit Who is speaking & wants me to hear what He is saying at that moment.
There are times I only hear when I get really quiet. Of late, I am always telling my husband that there is too much noise and chaos. I sense in my spirit man that we must get quiet before God and Hear HIM speak the things we need to know for today and tomorrow.
Psalm 1
Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so,
But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish. NKJV
Psalm 1 gives us detail of the man (or woman) who is blessed. They are the ones who walk not in the counsel of the ungodly, or stand in the path of sinners nor sit in the seat of scornful!
The blessed are like the tree planted by the rivers of living water. They bring forth fruit. They are like trees that are always green and they never wither away to die.
The Lord knows the way of the righteous, those who follow closely to His Word and to His plan for life.
Ultimately our walk with God is to be one on the path of the godly, the righteous, the obedient to be the blessed of the Lord.
We can look up the word scorn to find it means one who is thinks himself to be superior, one who mocks others, always sneering toward others and looking down on someone. Sounds like the modern day bully to me! The ungodly is the one who is immoral, blasphemous, profane and one who has no reverence towards God or the things of God. They are those who curse a lot! There is nothing good that comes from their mouths!
I think of Pharaoh when standing toe to toe with Moses. Let's look at Exodus 5:2 and it is a verse in scripture that gives Pharaoh's heart on the matter towards God. Exodus 5:2...Pharaoh said, "Who is the LORD, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD and I will not let Israel go."
When we read the written word on the confrontation between Moses and Pharaoh. we discover that Pharaoh had all his idols. He was found to worship the Nile..........it was the first place he would go in the early morning hours. It was the first to be turned to blood! It bore the blood of those babies the Pharaoh had ordered to death as soon as they were born. But Pharaoh liked being number 1! He had continually hardened his heart towards God and God's people. Pharaoh considered himself divine, and he felt he did not have to answer to anyone else.
Yes, what is in our heart will be made known by what we speak through our mouth. We will either speak the words of God that bring life. Or we will speak the words of the world that bring death to us and to all that we know! The human heart is the "one thing" we must check every day! It is the human heart that always wants more. It is not satisfied, but always relishes in the more and the extravagant desires to be entertained for enjoyment's sake. Yes, the human heart can devise many things! (for more on this see the address below to view my Youtube channel on the teaching of "The Practice of Prayer).
If our life is taken suddenly, where would we find ourselves? What would be the last thing out of our mouths?
In our diagnosis: will God be found in our heart or will the world?
In our diagnosis: will God be treasured or will it be that new multi-million dollar home?
What we treasure here is what we will be found to treasure later!
God does not mind us having things, but do things have us, or own us? Is who we are synonymous with WHAT is in our heart? WOULD your friends describe who you are by what is in your mouth?
In scripture, we find Jesus who had a heart for the things of God!
Even at the age of 12 years old, Jesus' heart was in the temple. He was found, as we see here, that he was sitting in the midst of teachers, both listening and asking questions.
Luke 2:41-52...........41 His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. 42 And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast. 43 When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it; 44 but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day's journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances. 45 So when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him. 46 Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. 48 So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, "Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously." 49 And He said to them, "Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father's business?" 50 But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them.
51 Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. NKJV
Jesus still had to be subject to His mother and father. But He KNEW WHO HIS HEAVENLY FATHER WAS! He desired to be found looking into the perfect law of liberty.
Where can we be found?
Yes, if our life comes to an abrupt end, what will proceed from our mouths? Will we be elated to say, "I am going home to be with the Lord!" or will we speak words of blasphemy toward the "one true" God?
If today, is our last day, how will we spend it? What will be the last thing someone remembers about us? It speaks in scripture that Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men. He spent time to fill His heart with God's word and He increased. He had favor with God and man!
In His last minutes on the Cross, Jesus spoke in Luke 23 and verse 46, "Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit."
Luke 23:44-47
45 Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two. 46 And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, "Father, 'into Your hands I commit My spirit.' " Having said this, He breathed His last. 47 So when the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God, saying, "Certainly this was a righteous Man!"NKJV
Even in all the injustice, Jesus was seen by the centurion as a righteous Man!
On some headstones in cemeteries, there is a dash between the years of one's birth and one's death. What would that "dash mark" say about us? Did we live for God or did we live to buy another expensive home we did not need? Would that "dash mark" hold the secrets of our life lived for more money, fun times, and maybe drugs or alcohol? Or would that "dash mark" hold many stories of a person who laid down their life to get the Gospel message out for others to hear? Would that "dash mark" tell of our lives in missionary work or work in teaching Sunday School for small children each week? Would that "dash mark" hold the secrets of all the food you gave to the homeless and hungry and never told anyone you did it?
For me, I like to write of the goodness and the love of God and how His word increases us with His wisdom for us to make the right answers at the right time so we can continue to move forward in His perfect plan for our lives.
I choose to speak about HIM and tell all of what He has done for me!

Father, if my life is called up today and it is time to go and leave this world, I pray that I would be counted with the righteous. I pray Lord, in Jesus' name, that like Psalm 1, I will find my place with the godly who treasure YOU. I pray that I will keep my heart from sin and scorn. I pray that I would continue to find YOUR word as life to me. According to Proverbs 1:2-10, I desire to know YOUR wisdom and instruction. I desire to perceive words of understanding. That as I receive Your instruction of wisdom, I will know justice, judgment and equity.
I desire to be the man who receives Your knowledge and discretion, to attain Your wise counsel for every decision I must make in this lifetime.
The fruit of such learning of Your wisdom is a graceful ornament on my head and chains about my neck.
I pray for an adventurous of life with YOU. Today I pray for all who read this that their lives will make a turn to the righteous and be found with You. Those who have been on the fence will now be turned on to the fire of the Lord. I desire that all would not perish but have everlasting life and that is through Your Son Jesus Christ. I thank You for salvation through Your Son and I have believed and confessed Jesus is Lord of my life.Today, I stand with the righteous and expect Your return to take us home! Lord, we love YOU and give YOU all our praise and thanks. Amen
