Scripture
tells us of Jesus walking in the porches
of Bethesda and talked with a man asking him ,”do you want to be made well?”
Saw this
teaching today on a God-channel. In this teaching the man gave history of
Jerusalem in the time of Jesus. Loving history as I do, I paid great attention
to this teaching. I also recorded it to hear again and again.
Here the
Scripture: John 5:1-17 After this there was a feast of the Jews, & Jesus
went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now there was a pool, which is called in Hebrews,
Bethesda, having porches. 3 In these lay a great multitude of sick people,
blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. 4 For an angel
went down at a certain time into the pool & stirred up the water; then
whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of
whatever disease he had. 5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity 38
years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in
that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well? 7 The
sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the
water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” 8 Jesus
said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9 and immediately the man
was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath. 10
The Jews therefore said to him who was cured. “It is the Sabbath; it is not
lawful for you to carry your bed.” 11 He answered them, “He who made me well
said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’12 Then they asked him, “Who is the
Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk?” 13 But the one who was
healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdraw, a multitude being in
that place. 14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See
you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” 15 The
man departed & told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. 16
For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him, because He
had done these things on the Sabbath. 17 But Jesus answered them, “My Father
has been working until now, and I have been working.”
You most
likely have heard and read this passage many times over the course of a year
and even more over your lifetime. In my hearing I heard Jesus walked through
the porches of Bethesda. But what I also heard of the history at that time has given me a
whole new take on what was occurring
when Jesus appeared. Adventure in the
Gospels this morning showed me history of Israel at the time of Jesus and the account when the Assyrians came to take the land of Israel proved horrific.
When the Assyrians attacked or invaded, they mixed with some of the Jews. And the mixing caused a change in people, their government and ways of life. It gave way to worship strange things.
With a mix
of things going on, the history given was of Jerusalem changing course.
What was set-up at that time was that men from Greece set up colonnades around
pools of water, for these men believed that “spirits” caused the bubbling of
the water. The men called the pools after the Greek god Aesclepus. The men built these regional healing centers
offering mats, and many had covers which reminded me of a tent covering. As the
Greek’s considered the offering of the bubbling waters, they built these
shallow pools to drink water from and other areas were for bathing. In this the
Greeks offered the participants chants, and fasting as a way to get their
healing. So you have this man laying there all this time. There is a whole lot of chanting going on today in legislative meetings, executive meetings, church meetings and school board meetings too. And the chant is for different and that which makes no sense at all.
So here in this area, have you seen someone waiting for the bubbles to appear in the water, his healing is not seen, so
year after the year….you know like masks are still considered in few places and more vaccines are created to do what? And you must know vaccines are still expected even though you are vaxxed how many times? Yes, the pool is still there and the water bubbles will appear at some point for you to act on. How about the truth the pandemic is done but now fuel prices are up like in gas prices and heating your home for winter. And yes, food is up and medicine is up, and yes the division of this nation is up? How about where you live in this vast world: is there something being revealed to a "shriek" of a high price of some thing you require daily or need desperately as in medicine for a disease?
So like my husband stated after hearing this
program on history of Israel and the passage that the man and those with him were held in such terror "were those who caused others to be paralyzed, to scare them to hide or to stay secluded, and were being tormented day in and day out for years!
Yes, Aesclepion, the Pool of Bethseda, was in Jerusalem in 1st century Jerusalem. An invalid who laid there for 38 years till Jesus appeared would be a talk of many who would give voice to in that day.of what appeared as a healing indeed.
In these
5 colonnades, Jesus walked in pagan territory! Have you recently walked in pagan territory? Have you walked where chants were given over to some dead guy who had slain many before he died himself and now is being hailed some kind of good guy, a hero of such things?
John 5: 8 Jesus
said to him, “Rise, take up your bed & walk.” 9 & immediately the man
was made well, took up his bed, & walked. & that day was the Sabbath.
Yes, religion will hold many in laws made by man. They will rise to the occasion of
pagan attitudes to hold people in terror, to do something which should not be
done to another. They hold an anger that is comprised of hatred and murder! Come
out of terror, torment and come to Jesus! Jesus is the Healer!
John 5:15
The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
16 For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him, because
He had done these things on the Sabbath. 17 But Jesus answered them, “My Father
has been working until now, & I have been working.”
Jesus the
Peacemaker, was bringing peace to men and women held in terror and torment in pagan areas. He, Jesus, is greater than
any government or rule of man.
Yes, I
learned a lot of what I saw and heard of the history. We must know the history
of our own nation before it is changed for good to something bitter and of
terror and torment. And that goes for any nation around the world. Lord, we
thank YOU for TRUTH!
