Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is valued as a forest.
16 Then justice will dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness
(moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation)
will abide in the fruitful field. 17 And the effect of righteousness
will be peace [internal and external], and the result of righteousness
will be quietness and confident trust forever. Amplified Bible
Jesus had a joy before Him, as He was going to pour His Spirit upon us from on high. He went from the river Jordan to the wilderness and faced the enemy. In Luke 4 we find all that Jesus spoke in glorifying God and not Himself. He took another step in showing us that the wilderness becomes a fruitful field and that each of us, when staying within the boundary of His Word become that which is valued as a forest. He went all the way to the Cross and gave His life as a ransom for many who would believe.
Verse 16 states that justice will dwell in the wilderness and Jesus brought the Word there. He brought it with no bread and no water. Facing an enemy, just food and water will not defeat the enemy, but truth spoken will cause him to leave you alone. And when that word is spoken by us, just like it was by Jesus, we will experience first that internal peace and second experience we will participate in the external peace.
Psalm 104:30-31
When You send forth Your Spirit and give them
breath, they are created, and You replenish the face
of the ground.
31 May the glory of the Lord endure forever, may the Lord
rejoice in His works-----
Who looks on the earth, and it quakes and trembles,
Who touches the mountains, and they smoke!
Hebrews 12:2-8
2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
4 In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5 And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons:
"My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
6 because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."
7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? 8 If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.
NIV
Yes, Jesus endured the Cross for the joy set before him, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. He endured such opposition from sinful men and we too, must know that we will face opposition, but we are not to grow weary and lose heart.
In seeing our fruitful field, we understand that we receive Jesus as Lord. We are born again!
3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."
NIV
1 Peter 1:22-25
22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart. 23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For,
"All men are like grass,
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
25 but the word of the Lord stands forever."
And this is the word that was preached to you.
NIV
Being born again to that which of the imperishable seed, and not as of our biological beginning we are to live our life through the living and enduring word of God. In Ezekiel 36:26 we are told :"A new heart will I give you and a new spirit will I put within you, and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh and give you a new heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My Statutes and you shall heed My ordinances and do them.
Walking by His Word gives us life, peace and joy. And it brings us to the place we belong: it is in those peaceable habitations. We should see it not only within us but also around us as well.
How?
By praying for your neighbor, and those in the cities and marketplaces, and where the job is, and kids attend school. It is by praying in the Spirit for all those things we may not know to pray for at the time. It is speaking out God's Word for those situations that may arise.
In viewing a recent report of the amount of Wild Fires in California and the Northwest, I saw some of the earlier footage that was not shown on regular news. I refer to this Christian Network where I saw this special report. And what I saw was most creepy to say the least. I saw one fire in California as it was swept over a hillside by this wind and as it came over with that assistance, this huge towering flame of fire looked like it expanded and "walked across the ground" consuming all in its path. It was the strangest thing I had ever seen. Instantly I was brought back to the scripture of the fire and water. It speaks this!
Isaiah 43:2
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you, and through the rivers,
they will not overwhelm you. When you
walk through the fire, you will not be burned
or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you. Amplified Bible
I saw that "flame" move with a life in it. It had like "an attitude" and did not want to stop what it was doing. In the above, " nor will the flame kindle upon you" made me think the importance of confessing that word right now! Why? Well, I had meditated and spoken this before, but I am adding it daily to my confession. I do this because we live in and around tens of thousands of large trees!
When we speak what we are expecting from His Word ( His statutes and ordinances) we become all that He planned for us. Some people think it is out and away from where they live. They sometimes think that God will have to move them to get them to a house to live in, and a better paying job. And that can occur in a few lives, but the truth must start in our hearts. That truth begins as the imperishable seed that grows. It grows to where we are in "the happy" state of God's Word. Looking and expecting His powerful Word to work in our lives. It is not by moving a thousand miles away, unless God is asking that thing of you to do. But seriously the Word has to be put into our hearts, and it was to be allowed to grow. Speaking daily that you may be passing through waters and and rivers and not be overwhelmed by them. That we can walk through fire and not be burned or scorched......NOR WILL FLAME BE KINDLED UPON US!
Jesus sent the Comforter! We were given that breath of life only the Spirit of God can give. As we are the created by the Word of God, it is He who replenishes the face of the ground we stand. May the glory of the Lord endure forever, may the Lord rejoice in His works! Looking on all the earth, it quakes and trembles.......for He is performing His Word.
It is summed up in Isaiah 55!
Listen everyone who is thirsty, come to the waters and he who has no money, come and buy and eat! Come, buy [priceless, spiritual] wine and milk without money, and without price [simply for the self-surrender that accepts the blessing]. (Isaiah 55:1)
Why spend your money for that which is not bread, and your earnings for what does not satisfy? Hearken diligently to Me, and eat what is good and let your soul delight itself in fatness [the profuseness of spiritual joy]. (Isaiah 55:2)
Incline your ear [submit and consent to the divine will] and come to Me; hear, and your soul will revive and I will make an everlasting covenant or league with you, even the sure mercy (kindness, goodwill and compassion ) promised to David. (Isaiah 55:3)
Verse 7...let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord.
For the Lord speaks: "MY thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways, MY WAYS", says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My WAYS higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens and return not there again, but waters the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater. So shall His (God's) word...........be that goes forth out of His mouth, it shall not return void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I (God) please and purpose and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.(Isaiah 55: 8-11)
For you ( you and I) shall go out [from spiritual exile caused by sin and evil into the homeland] with joy and be led forth [by your (our) LEADER, THE LORD HIMSELF, and His WORD] with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth before us into singing.....(Isaiah 55:12.........HALLELUJAH!
Jesus was the equipped! Held by that spiritual Word of God, He walked in the wilderness. He was not concerned with the regular food or water that man naturally needs. Jesus' trust was in God for that which causes us to prevail, by the Spirit first and second by the natural. Jesus stood firm in what He had learned over all those teachings in the synagogue in His thirty years of growing mature in the Lord. He was the thirsty at an early age of 12. He sat and resided with those who taught and gained wisdom through the Word of God. We too, can come and eat of that Word, ........by reading it out loud and meditating day and night.........that we can buy the priceless, spiritual wine and milk without money and without price just because we surrender to that word and receive the blessings of God. Jesus held that spiritual standard against the devil and came out the victor. Peace held His internal man, and we saw Him controlled by that same peace in situations from those who came against Him. And He experienced it all the way to the Cross. All the while those who spoke blasphemous things against Him, yet He kept His calm, peaceful righteousness dwelling in peaceable habitation in His lifetime. He let not anything come and drive Him away from His walk to the Cross. He was set, equipped and armed for life!
Are we the equipped? What life and breath remain in us, we can speak life to any part of our body, our mind, our circumstance and see it change. For me, today, I hold up that which will not scorch and will not kindle a flame upon me. I also believe I can stand on that Word that my internal heat will not kindle upon me either. I am trusting God for all my tomorrow's...........and today it starts with an open heart to receive what is written here............HIS WORD FOR ALL MY LIFE! AMEN.
