Of Wisdom or Stupidity

Can wisdom be found in this day? Do any speak truth? Will faith be found on the earth when Jesus comes for those, His believer's who are to walk by faith now in this moment?

We were getting our vehicle gassed up on Sunday about noon and someone passing by the pump where we were parked was speaking about someone who was "doing stupid". Without getting a closer ear on this gentleman's speaking, might we also take a look within ourselves and check our hearts as well? There are times when certain things stand out as being "stupid" or doing " stupid".

If you have been with us here the last several years, you know we have touched on this subject before and for some people, that which seem as "the sound Biblical", is only a presumed man's wisdom.

And would you believe there are some secular sayings that sound so religious people often believe they came from the Bible? These are but 5 sayings repeated among men and women that are not a part of Scripture….

God helps those who help themselves.

I’m sure you’ve heard it and may be you possibly even said it to encourage someone to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and get it done. But this verse is not in the Bible. And its premise is not true. To the contrary, God helps those who admit they can’t help themselves.

1.   Scripture is loaded with examples of God calling weak, humble people who would have been inadequate for the Lord’s work without His enabling strength.

2.   Scripture says that Christ’s power is made perfect in our weakness. And Paul states “I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

3.   That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10, NIV).

Furthermore, James 4:10 tells us “Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.” If God helped those who helped themselves, that verse would read: “Show yourself capable and God will come along and help.” Many times those of us who believe we can help ourselves don’t feel we need God and therefore, we don’t rely on Him. God wants us to admit we’re helpless so we can start depending on His strength to get us through situations that may occur daily. That is called a faith walk!

God won’t give you more than you can handle.

I think we’ve all said this at one time or another, primarily to comfort another believer or even an unbeliever who is struggling with something and some speak it being fearful that something bad might happen to them. But this verse does not exist. And this statement does not hold true. God will often give us more than we can handle so that we will depend on Him to carry the burden for us.

1.   Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (NKJV), and Matthew 11:28-30 tells us to come to Him when we are weary and take His yoke upon us so we can bear a load that is too heavy to lift ourselves.

2.   I believe we get the idea that God won’t give us more than we can bear from 1 Corinthians 10:13 which tells us “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” That verse tells us God will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able to resist. But He will allow us to struggle beyond our capacity in other aspects of life so we understand what it means to surrender and allow Him to carry the burden for us.

3. We are all God’s children.  Here’s another one that sounds true.  And although God is the Creator of all, He is not the father of all. Romans 8:9 clearly tells us “if anyone does not have the spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.”

1.   Jesus said those who are apart from Him are children of Satan, the “father of lies” (John 8:44)

2.    Romans 8:15 tells us when we receive God’s spirit we have received “a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, ‘Abba! Father!’”

3.    God adopts us through our surrender to Christ Jesus. Therefore, a more accurate saying is: We are all God’s creation, but we are not all God’s children.

4.    The sinner’s prayer.  As I was disciplining a young believer, I asked her if she had ever said “the sinner’s prayer.” She read it in the discipleship material we had in front of us and then asked me where it was found in the Bible. “Well, it’s not. It’s implied,” I said.

This is a tough one for us because we want to point to something in the Bible that someone needs to actually say in order to be saved. However, Romans 10:9-10 says “if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;  for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” No wordy prayer involving the words “repent” or “confess” or asking Jesus to “come into our hearts” exists in Scripture.

What we do find, however, are short heartfelt cries for God’s mercy, including: “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom” (Luke 23:42), and “Lord, I believe” (John 9:38).

Manifold Wisdom of God: 1 Peter. 4:6-11  For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. 7 But the end of all things is at hand, therefore be serious & watchful in your prayers. 8 & above all things have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins. 9 Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. 10 as each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability (anointing) which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory & the dominion forever & ever. Amen .

Ephesians. 3:8-12   8 To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to make all see what is that fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; 10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and power in the heavenly places, 11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness  & access with confidence through faith in Him.

God is willing to lead us into His wisdom when we are willing to accept Him from Him. That manifold wisdom of  God is to be made known by the church to principalities and power in the heavenly places. It is according to the eternal purpose that God the Father has accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.

God's word in us should speak and does it? Do we even fill up reading His word to give our spiritual man nourishment for the day?

I have told my husband more than once a week for several years that I do not want to be a “stupid” person.  For being found in that position can be “the one” who refuses to take truth from God, who refuses to hear Him speak for certainly the humble must appear before Him. But do we regard ourselves as knowing more than God does? Yikes!

And if we humble ourselves, how will God manifest in our life when humility is found? Philippians 2:8 “And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death- even death on a cross!” THE Ultimate picture of humility!

Matthew 27:54 “ When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake & all that had happened, they were terrified,& exclaimed, "Surely he was the Son of God!" The very Presence of God was made manifest as a result of the submission of Christ's humility to God for mankind!

Can you imagine a deep darkness that filled the sky when Jesus died and the ground that shook like an earthquake?  Hearing rocks falling, loud noises….and there is nothing but blackness all around? Do you think people were running around while the ground shook or did they stay in that place, frozen with fear, when they could not see in front of their face and still the loud sounds of rocks falling and screams were heard all around them?

I have paid attention to people who have come through tornadoes, who continue to live another day and they give frightening accounts of the horrific winds and the sounds that shake a home and turn it inside out in just minutes!

Written Word: Matthew 4:4, 5-7, 8-10 NKJV 4 But He answered & said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”   When we do this: the devil can hear us and God’s words spoken through us shakes the enemy in his tracks!

Matthew 4:5-7 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 & said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: He shall give His angels charge over you” and, “In their hands they shall bear you up, lest You dash Your foot against a stone.”  7 Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’”

From this the devil had taken Jesus up to a holy city, seated Him on a pinnacle of the temple….then devil tries to quote scripture. In this passage, it is taken from Psalm 91 & within that we are to have the Lord as our Refuge, even verse 9 tells us because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil befalls us from v. 10. Trust is everything /it must be in God.

FAITH……MUST FILL OUR HEARTS THAT GOD WILL DO IT!

Matthew 4:8-10   NKJV  8 again the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, & showed Him all the kingdoms of the world & their glory. 9 & he said to Him, “ All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” 10 then Jesus said to him, “Away with you Satan! For it is written, “You shall worship the LORD your God and Him only you shall serve.

We are to serve God in His bidding not that of the devil. It is only God Who is concerned in His heart for each of us! Nearing the end of a 40-day fast, Satan shows up to tempt Jesus! Jesus abstained from that which was to mortify the body or appetite. One meaning for the word ---to fast---given was to abstain from food but also voluntarily as a token of grief, sorrow & affliction. Can you imagine the grief Jesus experienced for those who fell to sin? Can you see the sorrow He felt for mankind and what step of faith in trusting His Father to deliver Him after the crucifixion? (You can see this kind of fast taken in the book of Esther: Esther 4:15-17)

The Manifested Word Spoke as His Father Had Spoken:  Jesus: the Manifested word spoke a word to the devil, & interesting how Jesus told satan to worship the LORD your God & Him only you shall serve….since we know why satan fell to earth…in that he was serving his own agenda to place himself above God. The devil could have stayed within the confines of the loving God, but he did not do that. Although the devil has some authority over the world, still the kingdoms of the world belong to God: Psalm 2:8 Ask of Me, & I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, & the ends of the earth for Your possession.” KINGDOMS!

Proverbs 8:32-36 Now therefore listen to me, my children, for blessed are those who keep my ways. 33 Hear instruction and be wise, and do not disdain it. 34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. 35 For whoever finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the LORD; 36 But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul; all those who hate me love death.

1.   The ancient paths of God are to be listened to for they lead to His plan

2.   Was with God in creation & delights in humanity: Rejection of Him & His wisdom is a sorrowful contrast on those who refuse Him & His wisdom for life

John 8:28-29 Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as my Father taught Me, I speak these things. 29 And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.

Jesus ‘ behavior was drawn directly from God the Father remaining sinless. May our behavior be like the declaring Word manifested through Jesus that we would speak as our Father speaks:

In this day & the present hour, we are Declaring the Word that speaks that doctrinal differences would give way to demonstrating the Spirit and power we find in : 2 Timothy 1: 7-8 NKJV For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God.

In this day & within the present hour: We declare that the Light of Truth will dispel any darkness and expose the lies. In Him was light, & that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:4-5) Everything owes existence to Jesus!!!!

We are thankful for the covenant of blood that has come by repentance, for restoration, unity for God’s people, those He calls sons! Amen. The Word of God, Jesus was manifested to bring light into dark places. And we declare the word of God and His message of the Cross with power: "For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. Everyone will hate you because of Me. But not a hair of your head will perish. Stand firm, and you will win life." (Luke 21:15, 17-19)

Let’s find what is really in God’s written word so that His wisdom will flow through us in that river of life to others. He has given us the words & wisdom to speak that none of our adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. We thank the Lord, that not a hair of our head will perish. We stand firm in Him and we win in this lifetime!

Thank You Lord for words of truth!

Hurricanes, Snakes and other Things

Do we daily remember to not have a conversations with snakes? Do we remember that the things of the enemy are under our feet?

Was thinking of the passage from the Old Testament where the young man has gone to help build a school for the prophets.

2 Kings 6: 1-7 And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we dwell with you is too small for us. 2 “Please, let us go to the Jordan, and let every man take a beam from there, and let us make there a place where we may dwell.” So he answered, “Go.” 3 Then one said, “Please consent to go with your servants.” And he answered, “I will go.”

4 So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees. 5 But as one was cutting down a tree, the iron ax head fell into the water; and he cried out and said, “alas, master! For it was borrowed.” 6 So the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” and he showed him the place. So he cut off a stick and threw it in there; and he made the iron float. 7 Therefore he said, “Pick it up for yourself.” So he reached out his hand and took it.

Now the nation of Israel was unfaithful to Yahweh at this time! Yet there were those who worked together for those who would hear God speak. The prophet Elisha asked where it had fallen and when he had cut off a stick from a tree, and threw it into the water, the iron floated to the top. And the young man had to reach out and take that which was redeemed. Obeying the prophet, the young man retrieved what had been lost!

It is a stony heart that God can work on to produce a heart receptive to heavenly things. A man considered close to God was not above the others when work was required. Do we consider helping others when they require a hand up?

We had an area out here on the side of the storage unit that needed some clean-up. Although my husband does it frequently, still a rake, some hands to weed and a good running lawn mower proved sufficient to get the job done. It did not take all day to do it when you have four hands and four arms and willing hearts!

Whoever we are and whatever our walk we have with God, still the Lord expects us to be committed to helping our mate and our community. In sowing seeds to help him in his work outside, he helps me in more ways than I could ever count. Yes, it has been a good day and it is not over yet,  and that work done outside looks good and things inside the house look good too!

If Christ Jesus is really seated on our hearts, then righteous behavior should be exhibited daily. It appears as having a will to obey His will and to do for His good pleasure.

Are we those really active in Him to contact others for a benefit to them?

Proverbs 10:27-29 NKJV The fear of the LORD prolongs days, but the years of the wicked will be shortened. 28 The hope of the righteous will be gladness, but the expectation of the wicked will perish. 29 The way of the LORD is strength for the upright, but destruction will come to the worker’s of iniquity.

Yes, how we live morally and how we treat others, even within our own home will have an affect on how long we live out our lives. We are to have gladness no matter what is going on in the world or in the state of which we might live! Walking as Jesus would walk brings strength to our walk, but outside of that is destruction. Walking uprightly brings strength to us and we surely required it today!

Proverbs 13:6 Righteousness guards him whose ways is blameless, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.

If righteousness is our standard, then we will not act ungodly towards others. Living life for us who know God the Lord, is having a fear of the LORD that lengthens our days on earth. Spiritual things are activated in God and by God. If we choose to be influenced by the world, listening to commercials that do not regard God but only loose morals plus our only focus is me, myself and I, then longevity will not be a part of us!

Practicing what God does, keeps us in the place of safety as the righteous. We are reminded of this in the book of James: James 3:2 For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in the word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.  This is the perfect: the mature man or woman in Christ Jesus!

We can certainly have a good paying job and yes we are thankful for those things! But it is always about how you treat others in that position, and if you are a janitor, a nurse, or corporate manager, what actions do others see in us?

Are we about the “clean-up” when it is needed and greatly required to do it or do we just let it slide thinking we are too good for that job? Believe me I have seen some in positions who would rather have someone else do it and then they wonder why they do not have that home yet, or even a spouse when they are not willing to work with others for a good environment where people work together in a love that only comes from God through us to them.

A Quote by Martin Luther King: “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort & convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge & controversy.” –

There is great controversy and challenges going on across this country we live in and around the world at this moment. And the only answer is God. It is in the Son of Jesus Christ where there is a quality of hope, that expectancy in Him who spoke and still speaks where life is seen because the light shines in dark places.

The greatest hurricane, Laura came in at a category 4 and it sounds like this may be the beginning of greater challenges of those on the coastal regions of this nation. There is an election coming in the fall and conflict appears. And it especially appears to those who follow closely with Jesus. They walk beside Him as kingdom people and yes they see trials, some suffering and a slow victory, but we stay on His side. We do not choose another side. Eve should have never talked with the snake in the garden. Where was Adam when “sneaky snake” appeared? Do not be talking with snakes! The things of the enemy are under our feet.

If you got a bad report of cancer or Covid-19, my goodness do not make friends with it. Do not embrace it as a long lost friend! Cancer is not in heaven nor is Covid-19! Whatever your battle, put God in the midst of it. Do not listen to snakes! Yes, people have lost again in those southern states that were hit by Laura and are they shouting God is with them or they like some who choose to leave God out of the equation?

NO, if we can shout in the tribulation, if we can applaud the goodness of God while the shadows appear & things may look dark, shall we still know that God is present with us and will we acknowledge Him in it & through it, whatever it may be?

We were never promised a life without struggle! Yet, we have power in the kingdom of God: 1 Cor. 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power…His power is demonstrated in that which includes: signs, wonders & miracles.

The miraculous appeared for the young man who went to help build a school for the prophets. And the prophet Elisha was invited to go with them! What an extraordinary event. Like this man, we too have present help:  2 Timothy 4:18 & the Lord will deliver me from every evil work & preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever & ever. Amen

How this year of 2020 ends depends on how we take each situation that arises now and to the end of 2020. What we do in those times should be to give up praise to Him who hears from heaven, for God has called us to live for Him. Will He see it done in our lives? For Surely His goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives and we shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen.

With Eyes Wide Open for God

Was out doing some yard work and we had taken our dog outside with us. It was a cloudy misty morning and cool and a real break from the harsh temps of the summer like 95 degrees!    While out there, we mowed the lawn which is  half green and a harvest color of tans and browns. Still a groomed yard looks better than an over grown lawn with loose fallen leaves and small twigs that had been knocked loosed by a gusty wind earlier in the week.
As we worked, I had made several rounds on the far end of the lawn and my husband was using the weed eater around trees and the such when he did not see our dog. As I worked, He continued to look around the patio to find her for  she had some how climbed out of her "gooby" harness and it still laid attached at the end of the long leash that had been wrapped numerous times around the swing on the patio.

My husband walked back around to what is the north side of our patio and he found our dog huddling next to the house by the water faucet outlet just waiting. So after I had finished the backyard, my husband cut the grass in the front yard and then together we transplanted some plants into bigger pots. At this point, rain started to fall. And we began celebrating the Lord's goodness for rain  by giving praise to Him for the abundance of rain and that any fires would be put out in His name and to His glory. We sat on the swing under the patio cover and we talked about the heavy downpour and he told me about our dog and her dilemma.

I then thought of how many people are chained to something, stuck in a place that is not God supported, not God planned and they continue to try to go and do something without asking the Lord for His guidance and asking His steps for them to be ordered that day and that week.  Going around the same obstacle that is already a problem gets you no where. I would say ask my dog, but she is not a speaking dog! My husband was amazed she did not leave the area and we talked about that as well. When stuck in a place, like our dog is for her safety. But for people it can be detrimental. Going round and round something that takes you no where is just wrong for a person. We are made in the image of God and we have been given salvation that was not merited nor is it earned, but by faith we confessed our sins, and we are forgiven to receive a Lord and a Savior. Our eyes are to be opened and when faith floods in, we take which Lord has given us. We believe for long life even though "family" history tells us others have died before 90 years, but the word tells me 120 years, so we believe for 120 years that is strong in the Lord, strong in our bodies and we look as good as we did the day we received Jesus as Lord!
Our dog stayed where she is fed and cared for and she waited. We pray that you find the Lord while He can be found. We pray your eyes are opened to His light, His truth and the way in which to walk. May faith arise and may you take the kingdom of God by believing your best days are ahead and not behind you in Jesus' name.
Take the first step into the Lord, move with action by speaking that you see His will done in you and through you today!

Faith enters with eyes wide open to God: Hebrews 11: 20-29  Amp. Bible  20 [w/eyes of] faith Isaac, looking far into the future, invoked blessings upon Jacob & Esau. 21 [Prompted] by faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons & bowed in prayer over the top of his staff. 22 [Actuated] by faith Joseph, when nearing the end of his life, referred to [the promise of God for] the departure of the Israelites out of Egypt & gave instructions concerning the burial of his own bones. 23[ Prompted ] by faith Moses, after his birth, was kept concealed for three months by his parents, because they saw how comely the child was; & they were not overawed & terrified by the king’s decree.    24 [Aroused] by faith Moses, when he had grown to maturity & become great, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25 because he preferred to share the oppression [suffer the hardships] & bear the shame of the people of God rather than to have the fleeting enjoyment of a sinful life.  26 He considered the contempt & abuse & shame [borne for] the Christ (the Messiah Who was to come) to be greater wealth than all the treasures of Egypt, for he looked forward & away to the reward (recompense), Heb. 11:27 [Motivated] by faith he left Egypt behind him, being un-awed & undismayed by the wrath of the king; for he never flinched but held staunchly to his purpose & endured steadfastly as one who gazed on Him Who is invisible. 28 By faith (simple trust/ confidence in God ) he instituted & carried out the Passover & the sprinkling of the blood [on the doorposts], so that the destroyer of the firstborn (the angel) might not touch those [of the children of Israel]. 29 [Urged on] by faith the people crossed the Red Sea as [though] on dry land, but when the Egyptians tried to do the same thing they were swallowed by [by the sea].

Faith is a catalyst: Jesus works where faith is present (Luke 5:20).Luke 5:17-26 Now it happened on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them. 18 Then behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, whom they sought to bring in and lay before Him. 19 and when they could not find how they might bring him, in because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed though the tiling into the midst  before Jesus. 20 When He saw their faith,  He said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” 21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” 22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, “Why are reasoning in your hearts? 23 Which is easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up and walk’? 24 “But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”---- He said to the man who was paralyzed, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” 25 Immediately he rose up before them, took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. 26 And they were all amazed and they glorified God and were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen strange things today?”

1.   Faith is determined: Four men arrive late, carrying a paralyzed man on his bed & realizing that they cannot possibly get him through the door, they carry their helpless paralytic friend upstairs to the roof to lower him on the bed in front of Jesus as He is speaking.

2.   They display their faith that he would be healed.

3.   Faith is not deterred by the problem of the crowds for faith has eyes to see through situations and to the possibilities for solving it.

4.   Faith always involves God in it! They persevered with efforts for their paralytic friend to see his spiritual healing as well as his physical healing. Their actions are an example of the apostle James' statement in James 2:18: "I will show you my faith by my works."

Faith is manifested where wisdom of God is applied. Faith is trust in Him the Creator of all things. Faith is the persistent. It moves through anything that might appear as an obstacle to healing. Faith is that which is sacrificial. It takes time and some effort to bring a paralytic before Christ Jesus. Faith found is one that is not intimated by circumstances nor of people. Faith speaks boldness for God in the face of persecution or hostility! Faith is that of humble people and of a loving people. They gave work to see their friend placed before Jesus for the paralytic ‘s help would come from. Faith is always active. It will not be in those who complain nor grumble about the terrible condition of their friend, no they would be about speaking faith of him rising from that bed of affliction to live for God with a life of joy and mercy!

Jesus could perform His work regardless of any human faith, but certainly he chose to act with those with eyes of faith to see.  For in Matthew 13:58 we find this: Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world----our faith. ( 1 John 5:1-4)

Faith is what overcomes and it is in Christ Jesus! We are to activate spiritual weapons and not those silly carnal ones.

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 NKJV For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Behind every stronghold is a lie----a place of personal bondage where God’s word has been dominated or controlled to an un-scriptural idea or personally confused belief that is held true. Behind this lie is a fear and behind the fear is an idol!

Whatever is the lie will be of the false nature! That which is false will either deter you or stop your life in its tracts. It will wrapped you up tightly in something you will not be able to get out of by yourself!

Jesus cursed the fig tree…Mark 11…., not because it was fruitless, (for the season of figs was not yet, and if it had been leafless He would not have sought fruit on it!  But the fig tree was boasting a falseness to its bold claims. With leaves appearing, fruit should be found under the leaves……again as to righteousness producing fruit worthy of giving out to others, or unrighteousness…are the dishonest, untrustworthy, separated from God

In this we find what is evil, versus good, the false against truth, so that what is showing, either by a mask or leaves is hypocrisy!

In Jesus’ speaking, the fig tree represented Israel, & it’s bold claims that it followed God was without merit.  From the early beginnings with men who followed God closely & held on to the promises of God, these in Jesus’ time had slipped into that un-fruitfulness that was deceptiveness. They LIED! They believed they had no flaws! And men can do this even today. They speak of things that happened a hundred years ago that has nothing to do with them today. They must live in this day and this hour. Yesterday is gone.

Jesus saw the prolific display of leaves on the Fig Tree, and anyone who has cared for fruit trees knows the flower appears first & then fruit and leaves last. We know that Jesus addressed those Pharisees who operated by THIS  pretentious show and hypocrisy.

We must want God more than some passed around word of history or some tradition from the past within our own families. God should be more important to us than anything or what others may believe to be true, but in the end is only the false....that pretentious show of leaves and is only a lie! People are to be noble people and have regard for being responsible to what has been given them in their own life and within their family. Being responsible is working with your own hands to make a living and provide food on the table, and not wait for the man to give you a check to life. It is one thing if you are a dog and waiting for their food in their dish, but it is another if you are a man or woman and waiting for a handout as well!

No, no man can keep you down, but lies as a stronghold can and so man can be held by that belief system they hold on to. If you believe you are still in slavery, guess what, You are still in slavery. You can be in slavery to what your parents taught you but was not God’s wisdom or had anything to do with God. You can be held by "old" family traditions and not the real truth as God purposed for you in a wonderful plan for your life.

Faith is what holds us in truth and if you do not know the truth, then destruction is all around you.  God is faithful and He will reveal truth to us when we search for Him. It is not looking for a particular place, for any closet will do. But what is important is that with eyes wide open we look for God in our heart and when He is seated there, no devil in hell can hurt you ever!

And when He is more important to us than life itself, then we have arrived in that place in Him....that is home with great love and presence where joy and peace reign. And we find ourselves a part of His kingdom forever indeed. Amen!

No Murder Hornets at the Gym nor at Starbucks

Was working in the yard early yesterday morning. Amazing how you can think of something that is not the top of your priority list for the day, yet there it appears in the midst of mowing the grass! Was thinking of how much better one’s lawn looks when it is kept clear of debris liking falling leaves and weeds trying to make some sort of statement in the midst of the green and yes, to maintain some sense of that great green color close to the house for cooler temperatures when the gauge goes way above 95 degrees in August.

While admiring the length of the grass, I was caught off guard by something flying past by my face and then thought of the “murder” hornet they say they discovered in northern Washington the first of this year. Yet I did not hear a buzz sound but none the less the “alert” warning was on in my thinking!

Seriously, we know those bees were seen back in like July or August of 2018 for it was on the news locally. Not only us, but family members also the same footage we saw on T.V. in our own living room.

That hornet made the news when it was seen in 2018 when officers were on the trail of murder suspect in the Sedro Wooley area and they had come across an older El Camino left abandoned that had this great nest in it. Yes, it was that home of the murder hornet by name!  Now who knows why people keep secrets, but we saw it on the local news and how the people were taken by surprise back then. And yes since that date there have been all sorts of stories coming across the news media and calling it this scare thing that can kill quickly. If so, why was it not taken care of back two years ago instead of dealing with it now?

But back to the scare tactics….used on those who live in the city! Seriously, how close could one come to a thing like that going from their home to the gym and then to Starbuck’s. There are no flowering plants at the gym nor in Starbuck’s for I have been in both of those places. You would think that today the news is more about that “lets scare people to death" thing  by spreading the oddest hysteria rather than giving truth. Just kill that murder hornet now!

News should inform and not breed contempt for others. Yet in the scheme of things, I think of Pharaoh who tried the scare tactic.  He took the straw out of their brick building supplies. So a plague of the heart appears indeed!

Plague of the Heart: I Kings 8:38-40………..”whatever prayer and supplication is made by anyone, or by all Your people Israel, which shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house: then hear in Heaven, Your dwelling place, and pardon, and do and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart You know; ( for You, even You only, know the hearts of all the children of men) that they may fear You all the days that they live in the land which You gave unto our fathers.”

Plague: every man shall know the plague of his own heart…….A turning toward God with hands raised in submission with prayer made toward the House of God. Hear prayer and supplication made by anyone....Forgive or pardon.....And give to every man according to his ways. ......those whose heart YOU KNOW!

One Altar: Jesus the ultimate sacrifice: Is Jesus seated on the throne of our hearts?

In this day and time God would answer the Nation when prayer was made. It was in times of a national calamity as: in drought, locusts or caterpillar, mildew or in pestilence (disease) supplications were presented. But God also answered in regard to the grief of an individual. Every man that knew the plague of his own heart.  And plague is more than heart pain, grief or worry. Plague is a disease caused by sin.

In some people the loss of hand or foot will not cause the person to lose their life, but in the case of the diseased heart, the whole body is affected and can die. That plague in a heart is sin and is of a critical issue when it leads them not toward God but away from Him!

The spiritual condition that we choose to chase the world and forget God is any sin performed that can and will come  back to haunt a person in the form of fear.

I take YOU to the 10 plagues of the Old Testament. Exodus 1: 8-22……….The Oppression.   8 Then a new king, who knew nothing of Joseph, rose to power in Egypt.  9 He said to his people, “See! The Israelite people have multiplied and become more numerous than we are!  10  Come, let us deal shrewdly with them to stop their increase; otherwise, in time of war they too may join our enemies to fight against us, and so leave the land.” 11   Accordingly, they set supervisors over the Israelites to oppress them with forced labor. Thus they had to build for Pharaoh the garrison cities of Pithom and Raamses. 12 Yet the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread, so that the Egyptians began to loathe the Israelites. 13 So the Egyptians reduced the Israelites to cruel slavery, 14 making life bitter for them with hard labor, at mortar and brick and all kinds of field work—cruelly oppressed in all their labor.

Command to the Midwives. 15 The king of Egypt told the Hebrew midwives, one of whom was called Shiphrah and the other Puah, 16 “When you act as midwives for the Hebrew women, look on the birthstool: if it is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, she may live.” 17 The midwives, however, feared God; they did not do as the king of Egypt had ordered them, but let the boys live. 18 So the king of Egypt summoned the midwives and asked them, “Why have you done this, allowing the boys to live?” 19 The midwives answered Pharaoh, “The Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women. They are robust and give birth before the midwife arrives.” 20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives; and the people multiplied and grew very numerous. 21 And because the midwives feared God, God built up families for them. 22  Pharaoh then commanded all his people, “Throw into the Nile every boy that is born, but you may let all the girls live.”

Moses was born at this time: He was kept in secret…for the Pharaoh was having all Hebrew male babies murdered.……5 Then Pharaoh’s daughter came down to bathe at the Nile, while her attendants walked along the bank of the Nile. Noticing the basket among the reeds, she sent her handmaid to fetch it.  6 On opening it, she looked, and there was a baby boy crying! She was moved with pity for him and said, “It is one of the Hebrews’ children.” 7 Then his sister asked Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and summon a Hebrew woman to nurse the child for you?” Pharaoh’s daughter answered her, “Go.” So the young woman went and called the child’s own mother.  9 Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child and nurse him for me, and I will pay your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him.  10  When the child grew,  she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses; for she said, “I drew him out of the water.”

Moses was called from his youth and raised by his own mother to know the God of the Hebrews, and then he grew up and was sent to free the Hebrews from the Egyptian slavery:  Exodus 5:2…2 Pharaoh said, "Who is the LORD, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD and I will not let Israel go." NIV    Looking at the face off of Moses and Aaron with Pharaoh, we find the plagues were presented against the those who dealt in idolatry. Egypt had many gods !

Exodus and Chapter 7:  the first plague was water turned to blood.  Ex 7:14-18 NKJV 15 Go to Pharaoh in the morning, when he goes out to the water, and you shall stand by the river's bank to meet him; and the rod which was turned to a serpent you shall take in your hand. 16 And you shall say to him, 'The LORD God of the Hebrews has sent me to you, saying, "Let My people go, that they may serve Me in the wilderness"; but indeed, until now you would not hear! 17 Thus says the LORD: "By this you shall know that I am the LORD. Behold, I will strike the waters which are in the river with the rod that is in my hand, and they shall be turned to blood. 18 And the fish that are in the river shall die, the river shall stink, and the Egyptians will loathe to drink the water of the river." ' "

 a.  The Nile became as blood ,b.    fish died and the river smelled terrible. c.    the people had no drinkable water or usable water. d.   The Egyptian false god offended……probably Hapi (the spirit of the Nile, (Khnum , guardian of the Nile)

Announcement was made only in plagues, one and two, four and five, seven and eight to Pharaoh. But three, six and nine came without warning.

In the reading of Exodus we see each plague was directed against those things that the Egyptians worshiped.

In the plague 2 of the frogs, the marshes of the Nile have a great amount that fill that area, but even in this, the frogs were found in the fields, courtyards, and even in the bedrooms!

In the plague 6 of the boils,…this was aimed at the commercial and artistic wealth of Egypt at that time. The first started at the river and now industry was a source of trouble for the Egyptians.

The ninth plague was darkness………experiencing the darkness………that wraps itself around you……..the commentaries write that they thought it was one of the fiercest of sandstorms in that area ……

When I was 12……we had visited Carlsbad Caverns……….we had been in the cavern for sometime………and had come to this great room in the cavern  and it reminded me of a royal palace …….room………very large………They turned off all the lights…AND NO ONE WAS TO SAY A WORD!………the darkness felt real…..like it had life of its own..

Plague 10 was the death of the firstborn……of man and beast…….again this is related to idol worship.

THE PLAGUES OF THE HEART…………where do we stand in this year of 2020? Do we harden our hearts when God refers to correcting us? PHARAOH HAD A HARDENED HEART. HE WANTED THINGS DONE HIS WAY…….. Ex 5:2…2 Pharaoh said, "Who is the LORD, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD and I will not let Israel go." NIV

Pharaoh was considered to be the embodiment of the god Horus, king of the gods of the earth. The fortified city of which he called home, was also home to a great garrison of soldiers and charioteers. Even their horses were the Arabian, that was bred for endurance in harsh dry climates like the Egyptian desert!

But even in all the wealth seen in this great fortress, from the wines to special desserts, and fabulous dressing gowns, diseases were rampant and many people died. No incantations could be done……..there was no cure!

Was it their idolatry……that was……a plague of their heart? Is the heart set to rule with an iron fist for certain agenda? When things appear like a murdering hornet, you can see what reveals what is going on within say a state rule!

Colossians 3:5-11……NKJV…..5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, & covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. 8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, 11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.

So if plagues are issues of sin in our heart………then idol worship as Pharaoh had would be detrimental to us as well. Our leadership needs much prayer. And we pray they see with eyes that reveals life in Jesus and not by harboring hate for those who thing differently than them.

Exodus 20:2-10……….  “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments. “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. (Exodus 20:2-10 ESV)

The wrath of God comes on the idolater because God is jealous. He will have no other gods before HIM. When Paul wrote, he stated that covetousness is idolatry! So idolatry is found as an activity of the human heart. It is of no deed of the body. What we dream out of her heart is sent out of a planning off the drawing board of our own heart. The "human" hear is never satisfied, and it always wants more and more. Yet in Psalm 91:16 With long life I ( God) will satisfy him ( that is you) and show him ( you again) My ( which is God's) salvation.

So yes, the heart is not satisfied but it certainly relishes in the more and yes the extravagant of wanting and desiring to be entertained for enjoyment's sake! It is a disjointed heart that is loving a thing more than loving God our Creator! You can see that in this culture today. People will flock to being entertained in things like worshiping the dead and calling it a holiday! It is wanting to be with "the in crowd" instead of finding the straight and narrow into living by faith as God our Father intended us to live. Please make your own diagnosis and see if you might have a plague of the heart: "Is God found in our heart", "Is He desired above all else in this life of ours", and "Is He valued where we seek to give Him thanks every morning that we are alive for another day in Him?"

We should surely not treasure a job or position above Him! We should not value a girlfriend or boyfriend above Him nor should we value a trip to Hawaii over Him and His desires for us! You and I are are seeing people trying to make plagues out of the flu. We see people using scare tactics to condition you and I for the next "big" thing that runs down the Pike.  We see people rioting and they call it protesting, but still it falls back to those plagues of the heart. Will we pray for eyes to be opened so that people will see that God has good for them in the land of the living and that there is much more for life to come in God after all this in this world is gone?

Like Pharaoh, he complained because he like the ways things were and He ultimately had slaves. He had his idols that he worshiped like going down to the Nile the first thing in the morning! Aaron and Moses knew where to find him. Like Pharaoh, where can we be found the first thing in the morning? Are we found giving thanks to God  and are we encouraging others in the Lord? Are finding ways to minister the life of God and His love to others or just ministering to our four and no more!!!!

Are our next plans in assisting a homeless person or are our plans for the big game on pay-per-view? Do people know where to find us within our neighborhood and within this community and what will they find us doing? Will we be chasing God and His assignment or chasing the "next big thing" or hiding from murder hornets who never make it to the gym nor to Starbucks!

Where will we be found and what will have our undivided attention? Every man shall know the plague of his own heart :  May we submit to God and resist the devil:  Lord, I turn toward God the Father with hands raised.  Lord, I submit with prayer made toward the House of God. Today, Lord I check my heart issue. I ask You God my Father to hear ……my....prayer & supplication made in this place. It will not be whining and about lock-downs but it will be about the freedom I have in You to make a difference while others are scared into their basements. I will make a difference in Jesus’ Name because Jesus knew about those scare tactics. He lived among them in His day. Today, Lord I thank YOU for pardoning me and making a way for me when there was no way. Thank You today for a heart that declares Jesus as Lord and declares the Father and His creation! For in that You Lord know those whose hearts are Yours indeed!
