8 thus says the Lord, In an acceptable and favorable time I have heard and answered you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you; and I will preserve you, and give you for a covenant to the people, to raise up and establish the land [from its present state of ruin] and to apportion and cause them to inherit the desolate [moral wastes of heathenism, their ] heritages. {2 Corinthians 6:2]
9 Saying to those who are bound, Come forth, and to those who are in [spiritual] darkness, Show yourselves [come into the light of the Sun of righteousness]. They shall feed in all the ways [in which they go], and their pastures shall be [not in deserts, but] on all the bare [grass-covered] hills. 10 They will not hunger or thirst, neither will mirage [mislead] or scorching wind or sun smite them; for He Who has mercy on them will lead them, and by springs of water will He guide them. 11 And I will make all my mountains a way, and My highways will be raised up.
Have you ever driven across a desert area in summer? Ever noticed the waves of heat touching the ground to give off something of an image or maybe a pool of water or even an oasis? Then as you make your way past that scene, it disappears and the desert sand, cactus, and hot scorching sun prevails.
Next time you take a trip, plan a ride across the desert floor and see how the very heat and light of day can cause images to appear, yes right before your very eyes.
We have experienced salvation! It is not a mirage, or something that will disappear. We have the Redeemer, the One who delivered us and with that covenant we are the preserved. But in that preservation, we are to be raised up and be established in that good land. As it is in verse 9 tells us to come forth, and come into the light of the Sun of righteousness. We are to feast, no longer in desert areas, but on the grass-covered hills that HE provided for us. In that place, there are no mirages leading us down a unfavorable way! In believing on and in Jesus, our trust is showing, speaking, ans yes always revealing Him in our lives. And it is in Him that we live, move and have our being.
No mirages, please! Do not mind the ride across the desert area, and experience the heat for while traveling, but to live there permanently is not my idea of living in the good that God has for us. Are we searching and chasing mirages?
Are we trying to see out in the far distance, without fellowship with the Holy Spirit?
Do we ask Him to help us see so that we may go further for the Lord's glory and to look for the next best thing? We have a hope in Jesus who will never leave us or forsake us. Even in times of alone, apart from others, still God is with us.
When the Gospel of Matthew began in chapter 1, and spoke Emmanuel, God surely meant He was with us.
Matthew 1:23 KJV 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
God was surely with His Son and was revealed in His speaking. Will we do the same in this year of 2017? Will we be a part of His plan or chase mirages in a dry and parched land?
I would rather be found with God and tell others. For our witness is important, and will we not come out of the dark and into His wonderful light to see and tell others? If not now, then when? And if not you and I, then who will do it?
If we are truly feeding on His faithfulness, then would not our actions dictate that very thing? And if not, then why not?
