Voice of Prayer |
My heart burst its banks, spilling beauty
and goodness.
I pour it out in a poem to the king,
shaping the river into words;
You're the handsomest of men; every
word from your lips is sheer grace,
and God has blessed you, blessed you so much.
Strap your sword to your side, warrior!
Accept Praise! Accept due honor!
Ride majestically! Ride triumphantly!
Ride on the side of truth!
Your instructions are to glow-in-the-dark, you shoot sharp arrows.
Into enemy hearts; the king's foes lie down in the dust, beaten. Your throne is God's throne; ever and always; The scepter of your royal rule measures right living. You love the right and hate the wrong. And that is why God, your very own God, poured fragrant oil on your head, Marking you out as king from among your dear companions.
Our hearts should burst forth with praise to the beauty of the King, our King Jesus Christ. In speaking out, our praise speaks the same as Jesus Himself spoke. Speaking what Jesus heard from the Father and spoke should be a confirmation to our hearts of His intent to bring light to us.
Now those glow-in-the-dark sticks are awesome. They can put out some light for a short time, but in the long run of our lives, God's word does and will light the way for us no matter the day, hour, rain, or shine, God 's word is working.
In this psalm, is a song of love. Psalm 18:1 in the Living Bible speaks this: Lord, how I love you! For you have done such tremendous things for me. Are we thinking in terms of love for God our Creator and God our Savior?
In our loving our spouse, our children, grand-children or other relatives, those special moments is revealed to greater depths of love when our love is found in God and when it is extended to others who can not possibly repay with the same kind of love.
Our lives can contain some things that help us light a dark way: like candles or that great Dorcy Flashlight. Yeah, now that is a flash light a dark room and is great help when the power goes off at your house!
In writing this, I refer back to Psalm 31 in the New King James Version. In verse 1-5, it reads this way: " In You, O LORD, I put my trust; Let me never be shamed; deliver me in Your righteousness. 2 Bow down Your ear to me, deliver me speedily; Be my rock of refuge and a fortress of defense to save me. 3 "For You are my rock and my fortress; therefore, for Your name's sake; lead me and guide me, 4 Pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me, For you are my strength. 5 Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth."
Light leads us especially when you cannot see where you are going. Thinking of when the power goes off and one walks through the dark room, "now where is that light switch"..?????......bump.....crash...!
"Oh yeah, I moved that lamp and it's table to a different place."
Having God active in our lives, points to the dangers, and gives us the needed support when things are out of order in our lives.
But in these specific verses, they are referring back or pointing to the utmost trust in God!
One has to learn to trust.
A baby is dependent on the mother and then the father. If they do not exist in his or her life, then they, the baby will most likely not learn to trust, especially adults.
You have an older child or children who may trust and they most likely have both parents active in showing them examples of trusting another person. When "kids" have both parents active, the seeds are sown in teaching them what "trust" actually looks like.
The husband/wife team deliver to their child/children, strong lessons vital for life to protect them and guide them. With God as the "standard", truth is revealed, commitment to another is seen, and a steadiness to continue in a steadfast instructions are like that glow-in-the-dark stick or bracelet. His instructions teach us to rely on His strength and reside in His peace.
God will always act in according to His character of holiness and His Word. He never changes. What He spoke to you, He will do it! But it is you who chooses! And what will you choose?
King Jesus spoke what He heard the Father speak. And we are called to live and endure by faith in Romans 1:17. We are to come to God and required to believe not only that He is, but He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)
If we had no previous training in relying on Him, seen no examples through parents, God can show us what it looks like. When we read through those passages of Abram leaving Haran ( Genesis 12:1-3) and going to the place God told him to go, we Abram become Abraham and how he trusted in the One True God. ( Genesis 17:5....a covenant and he became Abraham)
Taking us into His bosom, God keeps us, protects us, loves us and without restraint. His love never comes to an end. People may exit our lives, a spouse may choose greener grass on the other side to find out that the other side comprises only artificial turf, and best friends might become the next likely enemy, but our faith is to be in God, our trust is to be the utmost, and our next breath must be about speaking of Him.
The world has its issues! But God is still God and knows all.
For both of us, my husband and myself, our parents did not stay married to their first spouse. Whatever issues though, we have worked for our marriage. Not always an easy thing, marriage takes hard work and endurance. Just like Jesus had a walk before Him to the Cross, He never waivered in His walk with God...... "not my will but Yours be done" when He prayed to the Father.
May our hearts choose to burst its banks, spilling beauty and goodness to our KING! May our river flow into words for Him, and may those lips be sheer grace. For it is God Who has blessed us, and given us His best. Our King rides majestically and He is coming again. It is on the side of truth and of the meek who shall inherit the earth.
If we spend time looking back at those people who had their trust in God, we learn not to rely on the fleshy man. And our future and prosperity is not to rest upon our own ability.
Confidence in God is going to run long, the way of life in placing our whole being on the promises of God and His faithfulness knowing He will never leave us and He will never forsake us!
God responds to our choices and what choices are we making?
There is a war out there in this world for the children and grand-children, will we fight back in prayer, will we speak right things that align with God, will we be that glow-in-the-dark light that will show people our trust is to be in God only?
Dear Lord, excite and quicken us to be men and women of prayer. We desire to be ever speaking praise like a river for Your glory and honor. And may we be that light in that dark place, knowing what to speak and that our total trust is in You.....and that we cannot fail for we have Heaven backing us up. For all that is required of us today Lord, may we speak in that moment that will dispel the darkness and light the way for someone to know You and love You forever, in Jesus' name. Amen.
