Got up today thinking on the word to deploy and how important one word has been to the world. To have a force of men and women ready to be positioned for activity and to maneuver in an action that will utilize their potential, both learned and planned out in a plan of strategy to take possession of, to be kept out of harm's way, and to have peace in the center of chaos!
Our God is a God of strategy. He planned so carefully to fulfill all that He had in mind for those He created. Not one thing was forgotten. He caused men and women to rise out of mediocrity to fill places He designed they should stand and accomplish His plan on the earth. We can recount the words of the prophets all the way to John the Baptist and see exploits in the lives of so many who did the will of God.
2 Samuel 23:11-12.............11 Next to him was Shammah son of Agee the Hararite. When the Philistines banded together at a place where there was a field full of lentils, Israel's troops fled from them. 12 But Shammah took his stand in the middle of the field. He defended it and struck the Philistines down, and the LORD brought about a great victory. NIV
What do you do when the enemy wants to take what God has given you?
What do we do in the midst of moments when a word seems to contradict what we know to be true for us and for our family?
How do we position ourselves to stand and believe, trusting that God will do what He has said He will do when we leave the things of the world and pursue Him whole-heartedly?
Courage in the face of danger, battle or even confrontation just with one other person can cause one to see the teeth to chatter and bring maybe even some people nausea to the stomach.
But God has placed you like He did Shammah. As he was not number one of the mightiest men in David's outfit, yet, this mountain type man stood in the center of the most abundant field of lentils. He chose to fight off the enemy when all other people had vacated the area for their lives. But Shammah beat back the enemy. He gained the mighty deliverance that God helped him do.
The enemy came together at the time of "harvest" and is that not interesting that one desires to take someone else's food supply, to take what someone else has worked for, and just take it! But Shammah chose to defend that which he knew he would and could do!
Shammah was willing to take up and fight to stand with God!
Will we take that stand and do exploits for God today?
Will we put aside our agenda and hold off the enemy even if we stand alone in this field of harvest?
Truly God has spoken that He will never leave us nor forsake us!
Where is that "lentil" field that must be guarded and protected from the enemy?
Take your place, be positioned, and do exploits for God that will bring the decisive victory and praise to God and Him alone.
2 Samuel 23:8-10..........8 These are the names of David's mighty men:
Josheb-Basshebeth, a Tahkemonite, was chief of the Three; he raised his spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed in one encounter.
9 Next to him was Eleazar son of Dodai the Ahohite. As one of the three mighty men, he was with David when they taunted the Philistines gathered [at Pas Dammim] for battle. Then the men of Israel retreated, 10 but he stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword. The LORD brought about a great victory that day. The troops returned to Eleazar, but only to strip the dead. NIV
When we read on the other mighty men of David, we see Josheb-Basshebeth take a spear against 800 hundred whom he killed in one encounter. And then Eleazar, as the others all retreated, he went forward and struck down Philistines till his hand had tired and froze to the sword. BUT THE LORD BROUGHT A GREAT VICTORY THAT DAY! HALLELUJAH!
Psalm 147:10-11...........10 He does not delight in the strength of the horse;
He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.
11 The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him,
In those who hope in His mercy. NKJV
TODAY POSITION YOURSELF:
Focus on the Word He speaks to you. (what word did He give you at the beginning, what today, does His word speak in your heart)
Shake off all negative words and reports of the world. (especially those close to you, if they are not standing with you to believe)
Speak as God speaks. Confess and profess His goodness to others. ( make effort to tell someone about how good God has been to you)
Loose the Holy Spirit into the situation or circumstance.
Take no thought confessing any unbelief, fear, regret or even remorse. (yesterday is gone, it is over, move on)
Take that Word of promise and STAND, go with an expectation and with praise mixed with thanksgiving in Your Heart!
Father, today we receive Your power from Your word to serve in the "field" YOU have called us to serve. Today we loose the Holy Spirit into this "field" that You have positioned us in to defend. We know that You are for us and You have given us power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. We know ultimately, without doubt that nothing shall hurt us. We give thanks for that living Word of God, the powerful Word that is sharper than any two-edged sword. Boldly we state without doubt, that Word is our life and we release it today, confessing that Your Word is spirit and truth. We pray to be those who communicate that truth to others and stand in the gap in time of need for prayer being steadfast and fortified with the Word of God that delivers us and those we pray for today. Help us to be those who will not compete against one another, but truly be one as in one-heart with You to see this through to the final outcome. Help us today to pursue that which You have placed before us, and look for the greater good that comes when we believe and stand in faith knowing as we do, we gain the victory in holding that field for God's glory and praise. We pray today to have the endurance to continue in this race that is set before us. Help us to walk with Your Spirit of truth at all times. (John 16:13) Be with us to bear witness to truth so that in times of pressure we will act on it with confidence. It is You Who will preserve our going out and our coming in (Psalm 121:8) from this time forth and even forevermore in Jesus' name. Amen.
