Which Standard of Love

Voice of Prayer
1 John 3:16-17 NKJV By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him,  how does the love of God abide in him?

Christ Jesus sacrificed Himself for us. In that love of God we are the saved, and when our hearts submit before Him for His guidance, we have a new walk of life. In that we walk from the "me, myself and I" sort of person and move into that of loving our neighbor as ourselves!

1 John 3:1-3 NKJV Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

One might admit a truth on Sunday morning, that they would rather be at home watching "their favorite" team play than to be at church to receive God's word and love. You can see this on Sundays and when watching to see when the local big teams are playing, that you could set your clock or watch by the amount of men and women on the golf course.
Now if the Seattle Seahawks are playing in the morning hour, forget the golf thing. The course will be empty. But see a scheduled, say, Cowboys and Seahawks in the afternoon say 2pm and you will see those golfers on the course no later than 7:30 am.
Now exercise is totally important and if your Physician has placed you on a regimen of exercise and lots of fresh air. For it is paramount to be healthy in this day and time.
But in respect to this word, would chasing that game that of loving the world's goods? And yet if someone needs Jesus, do we forget so quickly about the neighbor?

Now your mission field may be the football stadium or even the golf course, but how many have you brought to Jesus thus far?

And I am certain many will say, "Well, now Shelley I have a life you know." " And I am all about others knowing Jesus, but I just have to relax for me and in my own time!"

I am certain you do have a life. I just ask what manner of love do we give to another? I ask myself this too! For us to be called the children of God, a sacrifice was given, and it took time and someone's life. Yet when the "big" game comes on,  does it come to this:"don't bother me"!
Yikes!

Heard of a neighbor being ill the other day. Had not seen her in about three weeks and she usually lets us know how it is going for her. She can call or send a text. She had gone back to school to finish a course, but needed to go back to the state she filed for her license to practice her new education. So we knew she would most likely be home being her creative self, yet we had heard nothing. After finding out the news about her, not specifically sent to me but then knowing we could do something,  I did call my husband and asked if he might run an errand for us.
I told him my thoughts of the "sick" person and how we might could help. So he left work and took care of the deed to be done.

Did not need to pray hours over it, did not have to ask anyone other that knowing our Father in heaven did the same for us. No, no one had to die in this situation other than delaying our own meal and our time of the evening comfort in the easy chair. But what do we do when someone is in need? Or will we do anything.
Just met with a friend this last weekend. She and her family housed people in their home for periods of time. Most awesome family indeed and not sure how they do it, but  they do it and has been on-going for years. The Lord blesses them greatly in this only "the anointed" for this activity could do. She always gives us the account of each and how God brought it to them through it for His glory. Surely love her stories and testimonies of God's goodness and His love to them and through them.

Knowing that both love and righteousness are evident of our salvation, then doing for the individual should be evident in our action toward others. Loving Jesus and giving much thanks for Him seems to give us an edge in participating with God and His kingdom that has come. In the love of God is light, and we should be seeing clearly when in action for another in their need.

In this coming new year, may we be the one who says "Holy Spirit, I want to know you, really know you. Help me to know the scriptures as I read them. Help with insight needed for me and also for my family. Give me insight into how I can grow in my understanding of that Word of God. Help me to be grounded in Your truth so I can notice the "false teachers, the false prophets" and to stay away from them. Enable me Holy Spirit to know God more. Teach me the truthful ways in worship, in prayer and to learn to love more my fellow neighbor." Thank You Holy Spirit for revealing Jesus to me in the new year!"

May you and I hold tightly to that which we have seen and learned of Jesus Christ. May we hold to truth and a love that is everlasting.
In the standard of love from God, we can walk through this life engaging others by a love that never fails. In His glory, others will see that glory. But you can only carry that which you have prepared in relationship with Him. For God to display His glory on us, we must be the vessel willing to carry it forward for others. If we have a vessel not prepared, then that glory would kill that very person wanting to do so. It would be the same with the 10 Virgins: 5 prepared, 5 did not prepare.

The Bible gives us examples of those who sat passively waiting. In the scripture text in the parables of the 10 virgins, (Matthew 25:1-13) emphasized the importance of staying spiritually prepared. We each are to keep our lamp filled with oil that represents the presence of the Holy Spirit. We are to be filled to the brim with His presence. We are to keep watch, and to pray the word of God into our families, our communities, our churches, pray for the those in the Northwest and to pray for our government.

In John 15:5-8 states, "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6  If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch & is withered; & they gather them & throw them into the fire, & they are burned. 7  If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you shall ask what you desire, & it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.  (NKJV)

For whatever thing we pray for, God is in our midst. Abiding in HIM, is allowing His word access into our lives, into our community, our church and into the leaders of this great country we live.
If I do not pray, there is NO FUTURE!
We should not be complacent in praying!

  • Prayer brings communication with God who brings ADVENTURES into our lives
  • Prayer causes us to turn outward as we pray for others
  • Prayer always causes us to stay close to our Father
  • Prayer teaches us to be RECEIVERS and not beggars
Keep watching! " Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming----in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning----lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!"

Participate in God's love with a high standard of His love, for His glory to appear and people will know us as God's children! There will be only be two avenues at the end, those who are prepared and those who are not! You choose!

Ever Ask God to Touch YOU

Voice of Prayer
Remember as a younger child, my sister and I were close in age. Not sure why we had such problems riding together in the backseat, but at some point, by mistake one of us would slightly touch the other. Yes, the battle then was on.
Well, she touched me,......YEAH, but you touched me too!' After about a minute, then my mother would say while never taking her eyes off the road, "I will touch you here in about a minute."
AH yes, silence would then rule from the whole entire car! MOM had put her foot down from the front seat. And no one was to touch another person. You could not even get close enough to do it accidentally on purpose.

I remember being at church, and someone asking God to touch them. "OH God, I really need  YOU to touch my finances. Yet I thought, " if you asked them if they tithed", you might get a puzzled look from them. Then you might have someone ask God to touch them in their body, but they have not spend much time seeking the HEALER!

Of course the passage I am thinking of right now is from Genesis. Genesis 32:22-32 And he arose that night and took his two wives, his two females servants, and his eleven sons, and crossed over the ford of Jabbok.
Now crossing at Jabbok, meant he was crossing in emptiness.

23 He took them, sent them over the brook and sent over what he  had. 24 Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day.

Now most certainly Jacob probably thought this to be Esau. But the Man was not hairy like Esau.
Let alone Jacob most likely turned to prayer to God.
25 Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip and the socket of Jacob's hip was out of joint as he wrestled with him.

When asking God to touch anything we might need help on, means God is coming to do it His WAY and not our way......you know like microwave the situation, zap in few seconds, and we are rich!  No truly God has His word for our lives and in it is the treasure of all heaven behind it.
Ego is foremost flaw that has to go from our lives.

Jacob had to meet Esau without any pretentious nature. So without ego, without that 'flash in the pan' thing, being sincere would have been the main focus of Jacob to take to his brother.  And within this meeting with Esau, Jacob would need God and not his own personality or character to garner some points with the betrayed brother.
This was given to us from Psalm 139:23-24. Verse 23: Search me, O God and know my heart; try me and know my anxieties; 24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Jacob would have had some great anxieties when meeting with his brother. Would Esau come to kill him? He mentioned when Jacob had betrayed him for the blessing from his father Isaac, that Esau threatened to take him out. So Jacob would have some enormous amount of anxiety going on within his body and his thinking.
But he came with all he had and come to make peace with Esau. Still God showed up. Whatever Jacob had prayed God came. For within our passion must burn a passion for God and His way. His truth keeps us, and prevails when we learn to keep our mouth shut in anything negative against His way and His doing.

Jeremiah 33:3 Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.  Sometimes, we worry over silly things. We become anxious about the mundane or even stupid. But God tells us to call aloud, To get His attention, we should cry, and also be willing to change our attitude to how God wants it done. He desires to come to show and shine His light in the dark places of our thinking and to reveal what needs to be removed from us.
In revealing "those mighty things" means God will reveal to that which has been inaccessible for us. In this God will answer and astound us in the most profound ways.

Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  It is always in the present tense. We are to always be asking, We are to always be seeking and when we knock we are to be serious about it. For if I truly mean to knock, then I mean I want the time to go over of what I am asking and the desire to receive it is always within that teaching

It is by His love we come to His family. By His love we are the "touched". In and by His love, we are empowered to love ourselves and our neighbors. Drawing near to the Father, helps us to trust. Drawing near in devotion is a matter of us choosing the right path to walk. In an intimate time with God and through that relationship we gain oh, so much more of Him. We gain more of His love, and live by it. In that warmth of life we turn from the empty and the mundane to live a life worthy of living. By entering in, the determined will see their personal goal unhindered and that is to seek Him in humility by staying out of the quick expected answers for the more revealed truths that we need to being established in Him and received that which was so inaccessible from the attitude of "I want it now"...when it is available because His Son died for us. In keeping that point so clear, we are reminded of His goodness, acknowledging worry is sin and that our trust is now in Him.
Touch us Father, and may we be reminded of the great price that was given for us to be called YOUR children. Amen!

Fearless in Prayer, Fearless in the Giving of the Testimony

Voice of Prayer
Righteousness is an armor in the presence of the most terrific onslaught. Whether in an actual battle or just seeing someone "war" against us, means the righteousness within us should be working. As someone can war against you on the interstate, within the work-place or even in the place of leisure like a walk in the park or a work-out at the gym.

But understand Satan's arrows cannot pierce through the armor of Righteousness. We are the wearers of Righteousness.
Ephesians 6:14,  reminds us of this :"Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breast plate of righteousness."

The devil never rests. He is always trying to figure how to get into our lives. And he will use anything and anyone to do it! But ours is to remember that God is for us and He has given us His word for strength and for courage!

We must do something and by putting on God's Word we are armed. We are armed with what may be on our pathway for that day, whether the sun shines or it rains all day.  So in putting on Righteousness we confess that He is our Righteousness. We live our confession. We fearlessly face the forces of darkness with the consciousness that no arrow can pierce the breast-plate of Righteousness.
2 Timothy 4:8, "Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the
Lord, the righteous judge, shall give to me at that day; and not to me only, but also to all
them that have loved his appearing."

In the Amplified Bible, this says: 8 [As to what remains] henceforth there is laid up for me the [victor's] crown of righteousness [for being right with God and doing right], which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me and recompense me on that [great] day----and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved and yearned for and welcomed His appearing [His return].

Are we those who are seeking His return with a great love to see Him? For the crown goes to the believer who is the righteous seeking His Master.
By expecting Him with great love then we would carry a "great love" for Him!

If we walk in this new Righteousness sense, and do as John tells us in I John 2:29, we
become "doers of Righteousness."  In the Amplified Bible reads this way: "If you know that He  [Christ] is [absolutely] righteous,  [conforming to the Father's will in purpose, thought, and action], you may also know (be sure) that everyone who does righteously [and is therefore in like manner conformed to the divine will] is born (begotten) of Him [God].

We can do the works of Righteousness. What does it mean?  We can participate with God in A fearless prayer life. We can participate with God in A fearless giving. We can participate with God in A fearless testimony.
1 John 3:1 See what [an incredible] quality of love the Father has given (shown, bestowed on) us, that we should [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! The reason that the world does not know (recognize, acknowledge) us is that it does not know (recognize, acknowledge) Him.

You cannot offer any one love if you don't know what it looks like or even how it acts. But God's love is displayed for all to see. And to participate with Him by His Word allows us to see with our eyes a love that permeates every situation. Loving others by His standard of love means, I can see through the brokenness of another and know God created this person for wholeness where there is nothing broken, nothing lacking and nothing missing. It is not because they sin, but because God of love is their answer. But most feel free just to give another themselves and not the truth of what God can deliver us all from.
In our testimony, we are giver's of God, His truth and His love. You cannot give His love without giving the truth of why He came.

1 John 3:23-24 And this is His order (His command, His injunction), that we should believe in (put our faith and trust in and adhere to and rely on) the name of His Son Jesus Christ (the Messiah), and that we should love one another, just as he has commanded us. 24 All who keep His commandments [who obey His orders and follow His plan, live and continue to live, to stay and ] abide in Him, and He in them. [They let Christ be a home to them and they are the home of Christ]. And by this we know and understand and have the proof that he [really] lives and makes His home in us: by the [Holy] Spirit Who He has given us.

We speak by the Holy Spirit. When we speak by Him, we speak about the love of the Father, the shed blood of the Lamb of God and how we are moved from being a sinner to a "child of God". Only those who can speak to another of that good in God is he who is  a true son indeed!

They worship God before the partake of a meal, to show to Whom they give thanks to for that meal. They tell others of the love that was shed, by a broken body and how by that brokenness He surely bore our sicknesses and weaknesses and distresses. He carried our sorrows and pains of punishment, for He was wounded for our transgressions, and He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [that needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him and with the stripes that wounded Him we are healed and made whole. (Isaiah 53:4-5)

The fearless know God, they perceive His goodness and are on the alert to give a Word of His goodness, of the love poured out through His broken Son that we would have life everlasting when we believe on Him.
What quality of love is that? Only when you can speak of it to another will you truly know that quality and the benefit of that special love for us. Only then you can walk through life fearless in prayer, in giving and in testimony! Amen!

Strong Belief But Not in Harmony with God

Voice of Prayer
Jeremiah 23:21-22  NKJV
(21) " I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran.
I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.
(22) But if they had stood in My counsel,
And had caused My people to hear My words,
Then they would have turned them from their evil way
And from the evil of their doings.

Many people have strong beliefs, but are they right? Are they in harmony with God's will?
Many people hold onto beliefs, those handed down by parents. But truly a belief must not only be strong, but it must also be right  and according to God's purpose and plan. In truth our living out God's word will give proof and prove to that which is right in the process of right living!

We are taught that righteous actions will produce godly fruit. This is why Jesus says, "You will know them by their fruits" (Matthew 7:16).

Matthew 7:16  Amplified Bible 16 You will fully recognize them by their fruits. Do people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every healthy (sound) tree bears good fruit [worthy of admiration], but the sickly (decaying, worthless) tree bears bad (worthless) fruit. 18 A good (healthy) tree cannot bear bad (worthless) fruit, nor can a bad (diseased) tree bear excellent fruit [worthy of admiration].

So too, within our lives and who follow truly after the Lord will produce fruits. In that life it is a person's life that will show what a person believes, producing in him a resolution that his actions are God-ordered and he dare not turn aside or change them.

Psalm 40:4 Amplified Bible 4 Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who makes the Lord his refuge and trust; and turns not to the proud or to the followers of false gods.

Psalm 125:4-5 Amplified Bible 4 Do good, O Lord, to those who are good, and to those who are right [with You and all people] in their hearts. 5 As for such as turn aside to their crooked ways [of indifference to God], the Lord will lead them forth with the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel!

Do our lives really reflect what we believe? And is the truth really found in God? Is our faith set in Him or in something else?

For whatever our walk today, you and I must be those who desire truth. And to have that truth will be in God. For prayer is set for communication and to keep that focus that God is our answer, that answer will come through Him and show us the way to walk.
In truth then, are we really following His example of prayer as we saw Jesus go up the mountain to pray? Do we follow that path to the quiet to hear Him with our heart?
If truly in right standing with Him, and knowing His heart is to bless those who follow Him closely, then we should know He wants the good for us!

Titus 3:4-8  Amplified Bible 4 But when the goodness and loving-kindness of God our Savior to man [as man] appeared, 5 He saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had one, but because of His own pity and mercy, by [the] cleansing bath of the new birth (regeneration) and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 Which He poured out [so] richly upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. 7 [And he did it in order] that we might be justified by His grace (by His favor, wholly undeserved), [ that we might be acknowledge and counted as conformed to the divine will in purpose, thought and action],  And that we might become heirs of eternal life according to [our hope].

8 This message is most trustworthy, and concerning these things I want you to insist steadfastly, so that those who have believed in (trusted in, relied on,) God may be careful to apply themselves to honorable occupations and to doing good, for such  themselves are [not only] excellent and right [in themselves,] but [they] are good and profitable for the people.

As the woman or man of God, then our purpose in God and by God is that our thinking on that purpose be of and in His divine thought and not of my belief system of other things. Designated by God for a purposeful life, then I must come to His ways of doing and thinking and not my own.
So is our hope found in God. Have I truly relied on God and His ways for my life?

We have that righteous status in Jesus Christ! That we could be regenerated into a new life of rebirth to become what God purposed for you and for me. Truly the Lord is for us. Truly He sent His best for us and in that we have a good hope to come across that victory line, not behind the 8-ball but out in that glorious life that is of the blessed, the fortunate, that which is envied by those who do not know Him and live as He desires.

Matthew 13:43  Amplified Bible 43 Then will the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with God) shine forth like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Let him who has ears [to hear] be listening, and let him consider and perceive and understand by hearing.
May we harmonize with God our Father. May our lips produce those words of righteousness that is from the New Covenant to shine forth as the sun shines! Walk out in harmony, walk in the fullness of that dignity and reality of the Father's own righteousness. For truly we are born-again, we are born into RIGHTEOUSNESS by and of the Father Himself. Amen!

Can You See the Future?

Voice of Prayer
It is right before us! Yes, the future has always been there, but somehow we manage to push today's business in front of us.
Never mind retirement, it will never happen. Want to take that European trip or how about one of those hikes through the Amazon Jungle?
No thanks, I have got lots of time.
,
One day, we find time is almost up for our future moments. We find we have more days lived behind us than what lies ahead of us, yet God keeps calling us forward.
Not sure about you, but I expect His voice. I expect His call, and I know I will hear it!
Psalm 42:7 Amplified Bible 7 [Roaring] deep calls to [roaring] deep at the thunder of Your waterspouts; all Your breakers and Your rolling waves have gone over me. 8 Yet the Lord will command His loving-kindness in the daytime and in the night His song shall be with me, a prayer to the God of my life. 9 I will say to God my Rock, Why have You forgotten me? Why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
10 As with a sword [crushing] in my bones, my enemies taunt and reproach me, while they say continually to me, Where is your God? 11 Why are you cast down, O my inner self? and why should you moan over me and be disquieted with me?
Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the help of my countenance, and my God.

Hoping in God is a real trust thing! Hoping He won't be late, hoping He remembers our name, hoping He will hear that faint prayer!

Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Oh yes the Holy Spirit was given to us. And that same power that resurrected Jesus resurrects us daily to do for our Father God!
 Hebrews 6:19-20
19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, 20 where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. NKJV
Hebrews 10:21-25    21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. NKJV

What lies behind me will never match up to that which is before me. For my God is faithful and He will see that all He purposed for you and for me will come to pass. Let us continue to run the race with expectancy in our hearts for God, the faithful God. He will see us go to the heights for His glory.

Hear any fireworks, hear the sound of trumpets, for I am certain that He is readying that which is still to come for us to walk through whatever darkness and bring His light, to answer prayer when others fail to do so, and run when everyone else is too tired! We continue for you and I have seen Him in the darkest hour. We have seen God when no else could discern His face or His voice.

May you be encouraged that God is not through with you yet. You have just begun to shine for His glory and will prevail at the might of His great arm. Know that He has you and will not forsake. Hear that tune, lift those legs and run.....and see the power of His spirit in you. May you rise into that glorious place where victory is yours, praise from Him will be heard because you kept the faith, and the limits were off for our God always shows up to show Himself BIG for you and for me!

Father thank You for Your goodness to us. That zest for life comes from that tasting the word of God that is good for our soul. May we be the men and women who live to see Your face, reveal Jesus to others and expect to see Your glory fill this land. We give You praise and are thankful for another day with you and to see the goodness of God in the land of the living. Be praised our Father, we truly seek to hear and to see You face to face. Amen.

Don't Live Like a Refugee

Voice of Prayer: Storms come, but do not be defined by them.
Was thinking of this title for about two weeks. I then remembered the lyrics of an "old" Tom Petty song that was done some decades ago, and asked the Lord what I should write about.

Now from that song, he mentions being burned by other lovers and in respect, the world can provide many lover's, but to whom will we trust our hearts to?
Being held for a ransom, literally tied up into something of the world is a "really bad place" to be. Yet there are many who are not saved today. They have not turned to hear His voice, the Lord of glory, but have continued to walk and hold onto abandonment, brokenness and pain.

Refugee: one who flees for safety, either from war, forced out by hurricanes and tornadoes.
The Collins Dictionary gives this meaning: REFUGEES are people who have been forced to leave their homes or their country, either because there is war, because of political or religious beliefs or because of natural disasters.

Bad things can occur. We live an world with an evil ruler (satan), yet our hearts are to be set on Jesus Christ the Lord of glory. Understanding that He is to leads us, yet I wonder how many are still placed in harm's way. More bad can come upon the world when sin is prevailing.

Scripture tells us in Matthew 5:44-45..."love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you. 45 "that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes the sun rise on the evil and o the good; and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

We may not want to think about that sin thing! But when a nation turns from the things God they move into harm's way.  I remember this family who moved out of harm's way in the Texas area. They moved many miles due north of them to be doing "what the Lord asked them to do".
So today they are high and yes dry. They have their home and safety as well.

But even if you are in the as we say "bad zone", the Lord has a way out. Being Christian should not be one who just functions within a "church building". They should not to consider that they are cutting edge when they remain closed up like Jericho behind closed doors. (The difference, the world is going to get them, instead the Lord has come  live within us and show us to take the land for His own glory.) If God is truly in us and with us we should be taking the land for His glory.

Recently I had written on standing like Esther. We should stand in the face of any real situation that can kill, yet when we know God is with us, we stand victoriously just like Esther and she did it through prayer. In Scripture we find others as well who took the "hard " road if you will allow it. They took what is known as a non-antagonistic stance toward the world. In Daniel and Joseph, we saw relationship precedes any ministry.
You cannot lead anyone you cannot influence. If we are cut-outs that just fit within the building...then we will be of no value where it counts. It is a real service to speak prophetically to your congregation but what about speaking that in the marketplace?

There has been many violent storms come through the coast lands as well as many fires inland of this great country. Yet are we speaking of God 's goodness and are we going into all the world or is is just about "that" Saturday night service or Sunday morning service.

In Dr. Bernard's Greek translations he introduced three such words for "world".
One is found in Matthew 13:22. Within this speaking of Jesus, "the cares of this world (aion) refers us to the period of time, to a generation that is in human history.

A second one is found Matthew 24:14. Again in Jesus' speaking, it is, "This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world (oikuomene) as a witness to all the nations." Oikuomene means land, territories and geographical nations.

Then Dr. Bernard gave alos a third meaning for world that is found in Mark 16:15. Again within Jesus' speaking,  "Go into all the world (kosmos) and preach the gospel to every creature." This use of kosmos by Christ is very interesting indeed.  Within this meaning we find it means to penetrate every social order, arrangement or culture—the way human society is organized. Yes, we are to penetrate the culture with God's word.

Have had many a talk with my husband and son-on-law as well about how to penetrate the culture as it is. If you have been in church for any length of time you will find it is divided into what is known as the the society in seven pillars.
They are : (1) religion, (2) family, (3) business, (4) education, (5) government, (6) arts, and (7) media. The latter five of business, education, government, arts and media make up what is called the "marketplace."
In understanding we are given the command to "go", then we also understand that Jesus gave us that to "preach" but also to engage.
(In a recent teaching from Life Giving Wells, the Lord gave me the teaching for "God Devised Glorification". Within that teaching we are to engage, not remain within "four walls".

Whether you have been abused by a hurricane, hit by a fast moving tornado or seen raging fires within your community, state or country, still the mandate still holds. We are to engage and in that point to engage that social order within any territory and yes the marketplace we must prove to be the relevant.
I have seen people in the last ten years to stop their teachings and pull up couches to just "chat it up" about some distant memory of God from their youth or early years of ministry but mention nothing of His majesty and glory that prevails when we come on a bent knee to pray in Jesus' name and to live like He purposed: not as a refugee from the area of 'hard knocks', volatile situations but to live for His glory in His peace and His victory. AND that is for today, to live for Him, and expect Him to prevail for us.
There are many people misplaced, and some without anything much to return to but ashes. Do not allow the devil to tell you are finished! Do not allow him to lie to you! It is not over! Get up, dust off and heed God!

And for those who have been through it already, what about our taking part in prayer for those affected, and what about some support from our check-book for those affected, and what about food from our own pantry to support another,  and from the prayer room of our house?
No we cannot be in all places like God, but when we pray, we live outside of the box. When we pray we seek the face of God and see things change for the glory of God and for the safety of His people things happen, the environment is changed and life appears again.
Living out the Pharisaical route should not be considered among us.
I remember reading once of Pastor Kong Hee wrote and preached that people of the church were not to live like they are carving out a Christian ghetto for themselves. He wrote they who do live that way, live in legalism and continue to make man-made rules. He said in that environment, members of the Christian faith would be taught to see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil.
Yes, each one of them within that congregation would remain unexposed to the world around them and remain also very innocent to those things as he related.

Ours is to live a life unhindered. If we truly live within Jesus's teachings, adhere to that truth only and do as He does we would be outside of the walls more often. God truly wants to keep us safe and if we obey Him, then we should be found with Him in truth, love, peace, holding onto faith that we are purposed to live for Him. Whatever the occurrence in your life, yet God is alive and He hears us when we really seek Him in prayer.

We are not to live as "refugees". We are to live for God to see His glory come and fill this earth, not just within four-walls of a church building. Today, I pray that you would know when God is speaking. And it will not be from the lazy boy recliner of life. We must be immersed in Him, His word, and be those who will pray those truths out. May the Father of Light reveal to you what is on your pathway, and may you heed those detours and obey to move ahead when the going is clear, yet remember He said I will never leave you nor will I ever forsake you. Where ever you may be at this moment and whatever condition, obey the Lord's leading and go in His peace. Live life to the full, and fear not. Remember, " seek first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added to you. Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."  ( Luke 12:31-32) Amen.

That Enduring House

Voice of Prayer: Photo R. Twiner
Was recalling the scripture this morning from 1 Samuel 25:28 where Abigail tells David that he has an enduring house because he was fighting the battles of the LORD and evil was not found in him throughout all his days.
David certainly had issues, yet he would turn back to God and God's ways. One note here is that not instructing his children in the ways of the LORD proved to a disadvantage when Adonijah wanted to take the throne and make himself "king".
Abigail spoke of a knowing of what evil and harsh was all about for her husband Nabal was the exact form of evil.

But thinking toward the future, that enduring house would go forward from David through Solomon toward the manifestation of Jesus Christ!

IN David we saw a man after God’s own heart. He wrote some Psalms and they were captured for our benefit. He revealed the glory of God, his problem and how the prayer would be given. Each Psalm he purposed through the Holy Spirit reveals that God was foremost on his mind.
Then we find Jesus, himself and as a house of prayer. His teachings to the disciples was one we could model no doubt.  His example was that He was continually withdrawing from the Father of light.
He had conversation with His Father drawing strength from that intimate relationship He had in heaven. From this intimate time and relationship is one we can have because Jesus Christ came and hung on a cross to pay the price for us with his life!
Displaying a life of prayer and worship to the Father, prayer was seen as a longing of closeness restored to the once lost sinner. In the born again state, we are brought back to life. It is that valued communication with the Father to see Him and hear Him. Prayer will expand heaven on earth.

An enduring house is one that God has set in place. It is a place of the “saved”, born again to His purpose and plans. The enduring house is the place of revering the “awesome “God and bringing His words into our speaking and by praying them daily!

In abiding in His enduring house of prayer, we find what the defective within our hearts may be. Whatever is defective we should TAKE AIM AT to restore to soundness, rather than to suffer the defect to be increased. RATHER THAN LOOKING ON THE PROBLEM, LOOKING TO THE ANSWER!
In 2 Tim 1:7…we are reminded...For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.   (well-balanced)  It is in God’s power…that we are completely regulated & influenced, so as to think,  speak,  &  act   AS GOD WOULD SPEAK IN ALL THINGS!

Our trust is to be in God. With our whole heart, we lean not to our own understanding, not to other’s opinions and ideas, but to God’s ways. In all our ways to life, living, to children and to those we might work with or come in contact with in ministry, we should have the Lord’s wisdom on it.  For if we pay attention to the news, or some form information that is full of the world’s wisdom we gain only the world. But the wisdom that is from above, that which is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. And the seed whose fruit is righteousness sown in peace by those who make peace. (James 3:17)
If Jesus is truly our Lord, then discernment will be found as wisdom on our lips. May we be the prudent who activate the Holy Spirit in all that is purposed for us and not our own plans.
As the enduring house, we will act like Jesus and sound like Jesus. Our every decision must be based on prayer in the Word of God that is of sound wisdom.
Father God, may we be those who speak with wisdom and have faithful instruction on our tongues and “Not just what someone wants to hear”! On bent knee we bless the Father of light and have no part in darkness. It is the goodness of God that we will declare to others. Father may we bless YOU in this Word and in this day by bringing honor to YOUR holy Name. Amen.
