That Character or Lack Of

Whose character traits do we want to carry through to the grave? Matthew 5:48, "Therefore you shall be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect." Colossians 1:28 Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.

Character is based on knowing God. Jesus defines eternal life as "to know God". This "know" suggests a very close intimacy, just as a husband and wife are intimate in marriage. (Genesis 4:1) The word for "eternal" is the word Aionis translated as to not only duration but more importantly that quality of life. Living endlessly is not necessarily good. True eternal life is the life of God. It is possessing that has the meaning of experiencing some splendor, that lives in the glorious fruits here on earth. Martin Luther King is still talked about today, although they want to change his speaking.

An example of this is found in Psalm 9:10 "And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You. Those living by faith do not trust in what He is called, for that would be mere superstition. Their faith is in what He is, His character and nature, which they have experienced by seeking to live His way. ( David spoke to Israel and the giant Goliath, that he spoke: "1 Samuel 17:45 " You come to me with a sword, with a speak and with a javelin, But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied." 46 "This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will take your head from you." "And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel."

Passing through the barrier is to have focus interest and ambition heavenward. It is casting away specific vises and cultivation of certain virtues. Those pertaining to the sensual indulgence, attitude, speech and prejudice of the mind must die.

I am truly amazed every year, when Martin Luther King day arrives, people are wanting to change his vision to suit their agenda. When he spoke of his dream it was that his children would have character to exist in this life now. It would not be by the color of their skin. Yet, today, we have people who choose to put fleshly things on the altar of their own religion.1 John 1:3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ, 4 and these things we write to your that your joy may be full. 5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

WHAT is DEMONSTRATED and seen here is our response to people based on the kind of character they have demonstrated. Fools will be dealt with differently than with those who are the wise!

Matthew 16:1-4 Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that he would show them a sign from heaven. 2 He answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ ‘Hypocrites!’ You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times. 4 “A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. And He left them and departed.

1.   From verse 4: Jesus’ description of Israel’s religious leaders is reminiscent of Deut. 32:5 where Moses rebuked Israel for rejecting Yahweh.

2.   Deuteronomy 32:5-6 NKJV They have corrupted themselves; they are not His children, because of their blemish: a perverse and crooked generation. 6 Do you thus deal(repay  )with the LORD, O foolish and unwise people? Is He not your Father, who bought you? Has He not made you and established you?

3.   The relationship with the LORD is ruined when His children no longer act like His children.

4.   They had become a grotesque mockery of what God created them to be.

Matthew 12: 39-40 NKJV  39  But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

An attitude that demands the miraculous sign as that condition for belief does not and will not please God. Jesus told Thomas: John 20:29 “blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. Seeing always follows believing!

A spiritual adulterous exhibition was presented by the scribe’s and Pharisees because of their rejection of Jesus. These were both blind and in opposition to His authority : He the wise, they the fools!

We see this today in the present hour. You have the few wise and many fools! You have those trying to stop I.C.E. agents from doing their jobs. This present age is choosing Barabbas over Jesus!

Proverbs 27:20 Hell and Destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.

People’s eyes have that capacity for lust,  envy & greed. The Rich Man in Luke 16 had wealth but had no wisdom: Proverbs 17:16 Why is there a price in the hand of a fool to buy wisdom, When he has no sense [literally, “heart”]? (17:16). The rich man had no heart for the man who begged for crumbs at the rich man’s gate.  Have we asked God for His heart concerning the lost?

Proverbs 18:2 A fool has no delight in understanding, But only in expressing ( or revealing) his own heart . Here the wealthy man is capture in the flame and cannot pass to Abraham, yet he wants Abraham to send Lazarus to quench his thirst in that flame. He wants the same to be done for him in hell as it was in his palace or notable estate he owned. He wants word to be given to his five brothers to not come to this place hell but repent.

But the rich man is told “if they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rose from the dead.”

Proverbs 18:2 A fool has no delight in understanding, But only in expressing ( or revealing) his own heart . God gave us His wisdom to have knowledge and  understanding. He is not about destruction but restoring WHEN REPENTANCE APPEARS! He is about repentance His plan for each man, woman and child. God is not willing that any person should suffer the judgment coming but for all to repent and turn to Him.  ( seen in Luke 13:3-5; 2 Peter 3:9)

We can see a glimpse of those creatures from hell. We can see where the door to the bottomless pit is opened and smoke rises as the smoke of a great furnace.

Revelation 9:2-11 NKJV And he opened the bottomless pit, & smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. 3 Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5 & they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for 5 months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. 6 In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die & death will flee from them. 7 The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle. On their heads were crowns of something like gold, & their faces were like the faces of men. 8 They had hair like women’s hair and their teeth were like lion’s teeth. 9 & they had breastplates like breastplates of iron & the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running into battle. 10 They had tails like scorpions and there were stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men 5 months. 11 And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name of Apollyon.

1.   Locusts or (grasshoppers) thick as smoke come up out of the abyss

2.   Not regular locusts like the insect that eats plants/destroys trees; These are locusts that are demonic that torment people; target those who do not have God’s seal on them; from v. 7 they have faces like those of men, they have intelligence ;Their wings make a great sound, noisy, terrifying ; These creatures have a leader: Abaddon in Hebrew & in Greek Apollyon…meaning destruction/destroyer ; They will be tormented by what they worshiped on earth; God will not allow these men to die, but just be tormented/These will attack for 5 months. They, being demonic are grotesque, with lion-like teeth & human like faces & breastplates of scales.

3. Reminds us of those designed by the movie makers, where robotics have the face of men, have some intelligence, but also have awesome and terrifying sounds in wings.  Philippians 1: 27-30 .. 27 Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come & see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind, striving together for the faith of the gospel, 28 & not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, & that from God. 29 For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ,

Those who encountered Jesus demanded more and more signs. In Matt. 16:1-4 and in this occurrence to perform one from heaven. Demanding a sign, even though a sign was given by John the Baptist of the Messiah present with them. In their dullness they saw no history being made within their generation. The Son of God stood before them and they knew Him not!  Ephesians 5:6 Let no one deceive you with empty words for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them. Hell is a real & those who are bound to that place have a fierce & hostile character toward those who have the image of God. Those held in justice, that righteousness of a holy God find faith their lifeline & the character points to Jesus, wisdom of great light leading us who believe & choose to be wise in Him!

People on what is considered the  "left" want you to love what they love, but is wrong in every way. They want you to kneel to their likes and plans. Yet, God is moving and He is always working. He reveals Himself daily and are we seeing Him in this hour? Warning going out about tsunamis and great earthquakes are on the horizon here on the west coast, and who is awake for such an event? There is a ring of fire in the Pacific Ocean ramping up for something big, there is a multitude raising voices about people recruited for "rapid response" teams all designed to swarm I.C.E. and  there are more grocery stores who are having less on their shelves. Ready or not, your character will be seen and heard! What a "poor woman" on commercial spoke: " she spent all one hundred dollars on her groceries  for family. Well, I can tell you here in this area, a couple can spend almost $500. Not sure what planet she is on but she is not being truthful.

That character you have or have lack of is about to be revealed!

The Chaos of a Nation

Unity is not about unity of many people in one church gathered. Unity is about the unity of believers in Jesus Christ in one place. You may gather with many males and females, but not all are believers in Christ, the anointed of God. Gathering for the sake of just gathering does not make you one with God. It just means you are gathered with a group of people. And who are we gathered to? Are you gathered to being a "Sanctuary" state for certain individuals who choose to break the law by killing and maiming others?

Was reading in a book my husband got me for Christmas. In this I am reading of the Greek for words used in the Bible. It is so interesting to learn the meanings of these words God saw fit to use through those who would believe in Jesus. In the years before Jesus' appearing on earth, produced by Greek theater, people would gather in a circle around the specific play as such. In those centuries, it was discovered that in ancient synagogues that have been uncovered by archaeologists, that a platform called a "bimah" was found in the center of these main auditorium. It was the "center" where the word of God was given. In this message only truth is given. The teachings were kept in what is called "know before Whom you Stand". The scrolls kept in this area were concealed in a cabinet. It was written for all to see that each of us should know before whom we stand.
Today, many have their own doctrine. They have the kingdom of music, the kingdom of body parts, the kingdom of foul mouths and the kingdom of lazy, do-nothing doctrine,

My question today: Is there worship for Destructive Doctrine?   1 Peter 2:1-2  NKJV  Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, 2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Following I Peter 2:1, in which he admonishes us to rid ourselves of the fruits of spiritual junk food, Peter lists evidence of a mind afflicted with a poor spiritual diet:

1.    Malice is ill will, the desire to inflict pain. ( woman used her vehicle to inflict pain on an I.C.E agent. He had internal injuries when hit on roadway in Minneapolis)

2.   Deceit is lying or crafty, seductive, and slanderous activity. ( changing the news to fit a narrative is wrong in so many ways)

3.   Hypocrisy is pretending to be what one is not.

4.    Envy is the strong desire to possess what belongs to another. ( people want free stuff and debit cards with 10,000. dollars on them monthly.)

5.   Evil speaking is using the tongue to gossip, deceive others, or destroy reputations.  The pure milk of the word helps us to grow! (leaders not secure in their positions are using cursed words to show their courage or strength....I think not)

Peter proceeds to encourage us to crave God's Word just as a baby craves milk. He is not encouraging us to desire elementary spiritual food but emphasizing the energy we should exert to get good spiritual food. Babies demand milk as if their very life hangs in the balance at each feeding.

1.   Exertion to reach for  the Lord’s ways. Reach to hear Him, stretch out to take hold of each of verse the Lord gives us. Reach for His goodness!

2.   Kings search out  a matter:  Proverbs 25: 2 It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.

3.   Romans 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the unsearchable are His judgments and  His ways past finding out!

4.   God’s glory is displayed in His sustaining power. He continues to give and it comes out of a plan from the beginning of time!

The apostle Peter gives God's Word as pure, meaning uncontaminated. It is unpolluted by fraud or deceit. God's Word is truth (John 17:17 NKJV Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

Yet, today in some church sermons, you will find that which points to only one race of people. You find many teaching and some most unusual things are spoken about that Jesus brought to us! We are to crave God's word to abide in His truth. And know His truth, not some made up fantasy! We are not to abide in the word of this culture we see today. Justice has been turned upside down. And that which is truth we are to stay bound to!  Isaiah 59:14 Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. 15 So truth fails, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey.

(This nation is submerged in injustice, oppression and falsehood. People have created their own problems. And today they blame their neighbor.) Does this sound familiar to this day and hour? Pray!

With all the chaos in the nation, the only answer for this nation is found in God’s Word the Bible! The blame game prevails and tragically lives are lost by the selfishness of men or women who are angry with life, with themselves and others. Hate appears in words and violence.  Graffiti spells out hate in the form of that which is against the Jewish nation and most likely our neighbor and often times points out to one race. But God made us all with one blood and the color is still red. Whatever your outside package, you will still bleed out red! Fear not man but fear Him who can cast into hell!

Prayer is needed!  And may we all know the falsehood and stop it before going to the streets! Most certainly we have seen women forget to the count the cost of changing their identity for another. They are choosing to police the police and agents of this government themselves. They give their babies and children to strangers to go stand in the street and fight with cursed words and clubs!

Our country was built on the foundation of God’s words and through time we have seen a broken fellowship with Him. If we truly expect to be God’s children and not just His creation, we must know God and love Him as He loves us.  In this the 21st century, we have abandoned His truths  & sought out to make our truths the right way.

Matthew 12:18-21    NIV  18 "Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. 19 He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets. 20 A bruised reed he will not break, & a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he leads justice to victory. 21 In his name the nations will put their hope."

So it is the willing and the obedient who eat the good of the land. And it was Jesus WHO  was the Servant to whom God had chosen and HE was going to proclaim justice to the nations. He did it by the Holy Spirit.

Having our identity in Jesus, then we

1.       Make an impact in our neighborhoods, in our communities and the world.

2.      Turn from the old man and his old ways, we follow Jesus with every spoken word of God.

3.      In that is justice of God revealed. It is God who desires us to deal what is right and just in every situation, in every conversation, in dealing with people day to day….we are expected to be the honorable person!

Does mercy live in our hearts?  For mercy speaks in kindness and does not manipulate or seek cruelty to others! For tenderness to appear, we must find ourselves in that love of God. For us to love others it will only come through knowing Him who loved us first. This nation was built on the Constitution & the Bill of Rights.  Documents that godly men wrote were to establish this nation. And now men are trying to change those very things that prospered this nation for over two hundred years.

A quote from an unread portion of George Washington’s inaugural speech of 1789 …: “ America would endure until the people of America shall have lost all virtue; until they shall have become totally insensible to the difference between freedom and slavery; until they shall have been reduced to such poverty of spirit as to be willing to sell that pre-eminent blessing, the birthright of the freeman, for a mess of pottage. In short, until they have been found incapable of governing themselves & ripe for a master.”

Today, we have many people, and every color bowing to flesh creature. It is not the character of people we see, it is the madman who is strung up by his own flesh creature. They expose their body parts to parade falsehood in the streets. They show their brain is empty of any wisdom of God!

Will Penn spoke this: “Those who will not be governed by God will be ruled by tyrants.

May Malice, Deceit, Hypocrisy, Envy, and  Evil speaking be removed from us. These are of a kingdom not of God. We should know that it is "  The pure milk of the word helps us to grow"!

We are finding that the garbage dump fire is burning day and night around this old world. Seen in Mark 9:43-48, the worm did not die there. Yes, maggots went through their life-cycles, as all were feeding on the trash there. Through these many centuries, that place known as the Valley of Hinnom is a fitting picture of resurrection of condemnation. (John 5:29)

Let God arise today and let His enemies be scattered!

Justified or Classified Waste

Am amazed in the truth, that one day we appear on the right path and some two days later, we ask this: "now which side am I on?" In seeing a news program early this morning, was made aware that churches in Portland, Oregon are ordering Trump to take hands off Venezuela. Now the country was not attacked: only the cartels were affected by this. Again what side are we on and do we really expect to see heaven when passing from this earth? The only war is the one of the cartels creating product to kill another! What about all those lives lost to drug use? Are people touched in their hearts when they hear another teen has lost their life due to "bad drugs." Heard a journalist rant on about why the officials did not take all of Maduro's men. In response it was Rubio who spoke they came in hot over the area known where Maduro resided as a military base in Venezuela. No life was lost and they took into custody two who were breaking the laws to make money. They can be known as the Cartel!

So what about Holiness today? Is it just a by-ward? Must be for many think they are holy and use curse words to express themselves.  Holiness is thought of less often than most curse words used today!

The Characteristics of Apostasy and Apostates: Jude was the half-brother of Jesus and a leader in the early church. In his New Testament letter,

1.      he outlines how to recognize apostasy and strongly urges those in the body of Christ to contend earnestly for the faith (vs. 3).

2.     The Greek word translated “contend earnestly” is a compound verb from which we get the word “agonize.” It is in the present infinitive form, which means that the struggle will be continuous.

3.      In other words, Jude is telling us that there will be a constant fight against false teaching and that Christians should take it so seriously that we “agonize” over the fight in which we are engaged. Moreover, Jude makes it clear that every Christian is called to this fight, not just church leaders, so it is critical that all believers sharpen their discernment skills so that they can recognize and prevent apostasy in their midst

After urging his readers to contend earnestly for the faith, Jude highlights the reason: ( He gives a firm account) “For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ” (vs. 4). In this one verse, Jude provides Christians with three traits of apostasy and apostate teachers.

First, Jude says that apostasy can be subtle. Jude uses the word “crept” (found in no other book of the Bible) to describe the apostate’s entry into the church. In extra-biblical Greek, the term describes the cunning craftiness of a lawyer who, through clever argumentation, infiltrates the minds of courtroom officials and corrupts their thinking. The word literally means “slip in sideways; come in stealthily; sneak in; hard to detect.” In other words, Jude says it is rare that apostasy begins in an overt and easily detectable manner. Instead, it looks a lot like Arius’ preaching in which, in a nonchalant manner, only a single letter differentiates his doctrine from the real teaching of the Christian faith.

We have seen evil turn for good and good has turned toward the evil. Describing this aspect of apostasy and its underlying danger, A. W. Tozer wrote, "So skilled is error at imitating truth, that the two are constantly being mistaken for each another. It takes a sharp eye these days to know which brother is Cain and which is Abel." The apostle Paul also speaks to the outwardly pleasing behavior of apostates and their teaching when he says, "For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light” ( 2 Corinthians 11:13-14). In other words, do not look for apostates to appear bad on the outside or speak dramatic words of heresy at the outset of their teaching. Rather than denying truth outright, apostates will twist it to fit their own agenda, but as pastor R. C. Lensky has noted, “The worst forms of wickedness consist in perversions of the truth.”

Second, Jude describes the apostates as “ungodly” and as those who use God’s grace as a license to commit unrighteous acts. Jude describes 18 total unflattering traits of apostates. They are listed in verse 4 as ungodly, morally perverted and denying the Lord Jesus Christ. They are listed in verse 8 as one who defiles the flesh, the rebellious and people who revile angels and who are ignorant about God. in verse 10 they proclaim false visions and are self-destructive. They are listed as grumbles, fault finders, self-satisfying, and people who use arrogant words and false flattery in verse 16. They apostates are mockers of God in verse 18. They who cause divisions and are worldly minded in verse 19 including devoid of the Spirit of God ( that is, they are not saved).

Third, Jude says apostates “deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.” How do apostates do this? Paul tells us in his letter to Titus, "To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed" (Titus 1:15-16), emphasis added).

It is through their unrighteous behavior, the apostates show their true selves.  Unlike an apostate, a true believer is someone who has been delivered from sin to righteousness in Christ.

3.   With Paul, they ask the apostates who promote licentious behavior, “What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?” ( Romans 6:1-2)

But the apostates’ false teaching also shows their true nature. Peter says, “But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves” ( 2 Peter 2:1). Another aspect of true believers is that they have been delivered out of spiritual darkness into light ( Ephesians 5:8) and therefore will not deny core truths of Scripture like Arius did with the divinity of Jesus.

Ultimately, the sign of an apostate is that he eventually falls away and departs from the truth of God’s Word and His righteousness. The apostle John signifies this is a mark of a false believer: “They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us” ( 1 John 2:19).

Most certainly ideas Have Consequences: That God takes apostasy and false teaching seriously is evidenced by the fact that every New Testament book except Philemon contains warnings about false teaching. Why is this?

1.   Simply because ideas have consequences.

2.    Right thinking and its fruit produces goodness, whereas wrong thinking and its accompanying action results in undesired penalties. As an example, the Cambodian killing fields in the 1970s were the product of the nihilistic worldview of Jean Paul Sartre and his teaching. The Khmer Rouge’s leader Pol Pot lived out Sartre’s philosophy toward the people in a clear and frightening way, which was articulated in this manner: “To keep you is no benefit. To destroy you is no loss.”

3.   It should be remembered that Satan did not come to the first couple in the Garden with an external armament or supernatural weapon; instead, he came to them with an idea. And it was that idea that condemned them and the rest of humankind, with the only remedy being the sacrificial death of God’s Son.

The great tragedy is, whether knowingly or unknowingly, the apostate teacher dooms his unsuspecting followers. One of the most frightening verses in all of Scripture comes from the lips of Jesus. Speaking to His disciples about the religious leaders of His day, He said, “Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit” (Matthew 15:14), emphasis added). This verse is alarming because Jesus affirms that it is not only the false teachers that go to destruction, but their disciples also follow them. Christian philosopher Soren Kierkegaard put it this way: “For it has never yet been known to fail that one fool, when he goes astray, takes several others with him.”

Jim Jones in Jonestown, Guyana lead 900 people (men, women and children) to die in a mass (murder-suicide ) on November 18, 1978. He promoted socialist ideals and initially attracted a diverse following. His leadership was both increasingly authoritarian and abusive.

Some might relate to this: but was in  A.D. 325, the Council of Nicea convened primarily to take up the issue of Arius and his teaching. Much to Arius’s dismay, the end result was his excommunication and a statement in the Nicene Creed that affirmed Christ’s divinity: “We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of all things visible and invisible; and in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only-begotten of his Father, of the substance of the Father, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten not made, being of one substance with the Father.”

I remember being present in many a Episcopalian service where we gave the Nicene Creed. In history,  Arius may have died centuries ago, but his spiritual children are still with us to this day in the form of cults like the Jehovah’s Witnesses and others who deny Christ’s true essence and person. Sadly, until Christ returns and every last spiritual enemy has been removed, tares such as these will be present among the wheat (Matthew 13:24-30)

In truth we are told by Scripture apostasy will only get worse as Christ’s return approaches. “At that time [the latter days] many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another” (Matthew 24:10) We find that Paul echoes Jesus in his inspired writings as well. The apostle told the Thessalonians that a great falling away would precede Christ’s second coming (2 Thessalonians 2:3) and that the end times would be characterized by tribulation and hollow religious charlatans: “But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be . . . holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; avoid such men as these” (2 Timothy 3:1-2,5).

It is critical, now more than ever, that every believer pray for discernment, combat apostasy, and contend earnestly for the faith that has once and for all been delivered to the saints.

Worshiping in truth is knowing and following God's way of life. Worshiping in spirit can mean two basic things: 1) through and by means of the Spirit of God, and also 2) with sincerity, enthusiasm and zeal. Jesus intends us to understand His words in John 4 in the same respect. Those who worship God must do it in truth through His Spirit with sincerity and zeal. They follow a way of life and practice a religion that pleases God. And their lives reflect the great transforming power of God.

Know today, that the world is set on taking your stuff. They want "free stuff" and ready to swindle you at every turn. They want their agenda to come to fruition. They want their religion to rule over you and remove your head from your person. To them, they are justified and class your stuff as classified waste. But we are justified in God.  WE know the Lord as Savior and truth with bright light. We know our prayers touch the heart of God. Normal no longer exists. But God is our high tower. "He is our refuge and strength in time of trouble." (Psalm 46:1)

Let's enter into His gates with thanksgiving and much praise. We are not classified waste. We come to give honor to Him Who deserves much praise and worship. We are to know His heart, with our feet set on the battlefield, our voice is our weapon against the enemy. That voice carries His heart around this world. With  fervent fire we give place to godliness for His power is seen and never avoided!

The Crucified Life

In that crucified life we can hear the Lord speak! In that life, they produce some 100-fold for the kingdom of God. They are producers of good fruit to glorify God.

In Psalm 90:12 so teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.  Accountability on our part is that all our actions in this life should hold an amount of fear. It is not fearing God as one of wrath, but one who is always before us in His sweetness, and light. It is seeing Him in His everlasting nature. He is the all-sufficient God, mighty and unconquerable.

Psalm 119:133 Direct my steps by Your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me. 134 Redeem me from the oppression of man.

Philippians 1:27 only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind, striving together for the faith of the gospel.

Here Paul talks of one's conduct. In this time period, men and women prized their citizenship as Roman citizens. But the most important conduct today is to behave in a manner befitting citizens of the kingdom of God.

In thinking of these words as to the kingdom of God, will be choose to unify with Christ Jesus? Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Would this be our theme verse for 2026 or any other year? Will we feed our mind the things of God's kingdom or of this world that is passing away......?

Isaiah 55:1-3  NKJV  "Ho! Everyone who thirsts,

Come to the waters; And you who have no money,

Come, buy and eat.

Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price.

2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy?

Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance.

3  Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live;

And I will make an everlasting covenant with you— The sure mercies of David.

Isaiah 55:1-3 contains an appeal, continuing the theme that there is a spiritual food that nourishes the inner man and fills one's life in a way and with abundance that all of a person's material things cannot. Your house nor your car can save you from hell. Here we see that God is speaking about His Word seen in the word "listen," which is directly connected to the phrase "eat what is good." This food is, of course, spiritual, and its source is God. Interestingly, He says to come and buy, but not with money. This food cannot be purchased with material wealth. All the money in the world cannot purchase it, but it still must be bought. Recall that the foolish virgins in Matthew 25 are advised to go out and buy oil from those who sell in preparation for the coming of the Bridegroom.

The "food" in Isaiah 55 and the "oil" in Matthew 25 can be bought only by means of the dedication and commitment of one's life in submission to Christ. Being committed to Christ is seen in our lifestyles!

By being a living sacrifice in prayer, study, meditation, and obedience, one becomes energized by the food of God's Word. In addition, one can "purchase" it only from those appointed by God to "sell" it. It can only be bought from those already converted and provided by God with the gifts to teach it to others. In most cases, this is the ministry of the true church.

Do you know that "true church"?

Jeremiah 3:15 provides us with clear Old Testament evidence that the principle of feeding the mind with the correct instruction leads to good spiritual health: "And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding." God clearly states that a mind fed with the right things can produce wisdom, holiness, and happiness. ( Imagine your life if you ate hamburgers every day. And this burger has three slices of bacon on it.)

Here it is God who promises that those who hear Him will be fed the elements of an abundant life through shepherds who exhibit godly character. God's Word, if it is believed and practiced, produces a unique perspective of life and a balance that cannot be found through any other means. Nothing that man has produced through philosophy or religion can even come close. Think of those who have created a religion like Mormons. These elements of human society have played major roles in producing restless, anxious, violent cultures. Know  any of these? Have you seen some appear in your own community?

In reading a recent newspaper from our area, I came across an article written by a group who are providing a teaching on authoritarianism. This event is scheduleease and comfort, d to be rolled out in January. It appears that they will give participants opportunities to discuss and join projects that oppose authoritarian measures currently being seen and done by current federal government. My question is: "where were all you the last four years in the last administrations rolled out such organizations?

Is that for folks who want to oppose an existing government established some 250 years ago??? Men can certainly fail you indeed. But I believe many voted for the recent President and I am certain he would desire all righteous men to pray for him as he leads this nation!

In hearing of such government oppositions, stomping your feet and demanding your wants is childish. One should be willing to vote for righteous ways and not unethical violent practices! And my next question would be on what amount of time have you spent praying over your leader and country?

People desire ease and comfort. They want you to give them "free stuff" while they tell you to leave them alone. People today want ease and no frictions. Although they carry tons of baggage over the last 25 years, they choose to find only those who like what they like and hate all others even if it is a leader of a nation or at their own job.

Of recent years, both my husband and I have had many days to record our thankfulness for still being alive in this hour. We have written down what God has done for us in the darkest hour we have seen. We have seen change come so quickly and hard to change my own life indeed. But my husband stepped up to help when I could not do for me. He stepped up, humbled himself to working from home so he could help me and not depend on another. For men will fail you indeed but prayer and God's word bring us wisdom and of course His peace. Today, a new year begins, not weighted down with past things, but looking forward with less clutter and much peace in seeing each day yielding the goodness of God. We record, yes, the good, the bad and the ugly, but we give much thanks to Him who is our sufficiency!

While I worked and my husband seemed distant at times, I found Psalm 92 so helpful to me. Verse 1-2 It is good to give thanks to the LORD and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; 2 to declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night.

I found God good and faithful in my loneliness. I found giving Him thanks for His faithful heart, I could take that brokenness of my heart and hold tightly. I found by letting go of His hand and taking His heart, we connected in a deeper level. For any anxiety that existed, I could minister His heart to others every day. In the morning, I expressed with loud voice to thanking His all-sufficiency and at night again, a voice filled our home with love for His grace to a broken world.

Yes, we two have seen good times and hard times. We have seen this life together in sickness and health, and know God is available in every season. He is waiting as we listen to His voice of wisdom and run to declare it to others. We know the darkness of the enemy and the pain of any struggle. And prayer is a God-thing. It is about reaching His heart for His glory and His praise. And in return we walk in His wisdom dwelling in peace daily. Certainly Jesus knew these things.  He declared them from the cross as He hung giving up His last breath.

We pray for those attending this event in January. We pray they stop violence to live in God's peace. Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

When the Spirit fully controls the life of a believer, He produces all of these graces. The 1st three have to do with our attitude toward God. The second three deal with social relationships and the third group describes principles that guide a Christian's conduct.

You and I must make a choice. We must choose to secure the best diet for the mind to utilize and assimilate into one's moral and spiritual character, as well as other expressions of our own personality. Can you imagine scripture today as to the man beaten on the pathway to the city and was robbed and beaten by bandits where a Good Samaritan rescued him. ( You can see on T.V. even 15 minutes, another person being thrown on that pathway, a child with disease, a veteran of a war or a wife left with 5+ plus children. It is all about throwing others on that roadway so a good Samaritan is coming by every 15 minutes.)

Today, we know that it is the world that always produces an almost overwhelming amount of spiritual junk food and outright spiritual garbage, and it is within easy reach of any mind anywhere no matter where one lives. You know that today if you own a television set or a cell phone all that "Junk" is just a swipe away. It is a place of harm, and violence. It is a place where God is not revered.  Let us look forward, reaching for God's heart and not His hand. Reach out in prayer and believe God is there in the midst, in His goodness, we expect godly behavior, prayer against any violent behavior, and love for our neighbor. This is not for the one who breaks the laws of this land where we live, but one who reveres what God has done in the past. He can do it again when we lean into His word and His love. Amen.
