NO PAUSE BUTTONS, PLEASE!!

WHO pushed the PAUSE button? Ever feel like life is on pause? Seriously, you are moving along, everything looks bright, prayer life is a good one, the Word is expanding in your life, and SUDDENLY, one day you discover you have not moved forward.
In looking over our lives, especially our children's we can see what needs to change. In their growing years, a mother can see the benefit of change needed for them at certain times of growth. The mother will tend to manipulate the child or children towards that which is nourishing food, something that teaches, something that helps the child see beyond their own lives, exercise like dance or some sport, and to see that the child or children are never alone. Yes, we always have time to play!
Even when the mother may be busy at home busy doing housecleaning, at work doing her job outside the home and or ministering to others, we tend to see the child is either in school, at home with Dad or the planned playdate with a young playmate for the child. All these things certainly add to producing a child who will one day be on their own..........so to speak. In their growing up, all hope and eyes are on them to being independent enough to work, pay their bills and continue to have a somewhat social life that is a healthy one. A parent hopes enough wisdom for life has been poured into them, so that they, the grown-up child has had adequate training in how to prepare meals, meet new people and continue to exercise.

I have learned over these many years, that life continues, like it or not! Seasons change, winter comes and leaves a mess that only Spring can clean up with those showers that also washes away the dust, bring life to those trees once again, and bring about festive colors that was just hidden under all that wet and sometimes snow. Cold weather certainly brings about a temperature drop that is noticed not only by the need to grab that coat before leaving the house, but is also known in those plants which were vibrant but a few short weeks ago, but now have surrendered to the frost that brought shock to their systems of growth.

Many people are ON PAUSE and do not know it. They somehow think that they can continue to do what they did like when they were in their teens or twenties. But alas, that is not so. The body certainly needs good food and exercise to be in health. Baseball somehow does not work in for us in the 20-30 year range. Although some use it as a hobby and use it as their social network. Yet, it is no longer school time, and Friday night football and eating cold pizza for breakfast. Yes, I personally know someone who would eat that for breakfast in her teen years.

Now some folks have the ability to keep social, but sometimes the job or even ministry can cause a delay, a big speed bump or that merry-go-round ride that never stops, never changes, but keeps moving you around in a circle. Sooner or later you find yourself alone and without any opportunities to make friends. Sometimes our age plays a role. Sometimes we think we cannot be around other people's children or give them some wisdom for life. But that is a lie of the enemy. Truly God wants us to minister to those who are family and those who are the family of God!

God desires us to continue to grow. He desires us to change and become all that He planned for us. In hearing some ask for prayer...........I am always, I guess taken off guard by those who say they "need a breakthrough". No, all you need is to get off the "merry go-round " and do the work, live the life, and enjoy the adventure that God presents to you.

Somehow men and women can find they look for that affirmation by those they work for instead of looking to God for that. They start looking for ways to make more money and look for extra hours at that place they have this new bold confidence in, but that is the wrong place and wrong thing to be confident in. Affirmation from strangers is dangerous! Testimony in the work place, where it is just you glorifying you is not good. And taking compliments from those who do it just to get-closer is dangerous as well!

Proverbs 3:21-26
21 My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment,
do not let them out of your sight;
22 they will be life for you,
an ornament to grace your neck.
23 Then you will go on your way in safety,
and your foot will not stumble;
24 when you lie down, you will not be afraid;
when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
25 Have no fear of sudden disaster
or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,
26 for the LORD will be your confidence
and will keep your foot from being snared.
NIV

The Lord wants to preserve us and will give us discernment by His Word. His Spirit of truth will lead us in truth..........and show anything which might be unsafe, deadly to us! We continue to walk in safety on our way..........not afraid, and able to sleep peacefully at night because we have His Word in our hearts. The LORD is to be our confidence, and not our singing, the neighbor next door, the woman down the street, or the "boss" at work!

Acknowledging God and His truth of bringing to us that which was lost in the garden of Eden, is a remembering God wants us to experience His kingdom that came through Jesus. Taking that daily bread, that Manna, brings wholeness to us. His kingdom is to come into every area of our lives,: physically, socially, financially, spiritually, and mentally.

Matthew 6:9-13 Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread
12 And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and power and glory forever. Amen. NKJV

God knew the intimacy He wanted with Adam. He formed him in the soil of the earth. Yes, just some dirt, and formed him.........then He breathed that God breath into Adam. God had to kneel down to reach those nostrils of Adam's. God had to look him over and prepare to bring life that would last an eternity. Now that is going.........long!
Genesis 2:7...And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

God wants to be in our business as He was in Adam's and then in Jesus' life. His teaching to us brings us to sobriety (self-control, common sense), temperance, honesty and industry........to work with our hands.....not to take from another's mouth.........not the bread of idleness or deceit. We are to have a bread that is truly gained. Its that trust in knowing God our Creator, God our Healer, God our Provider, and God our Strength. Press that button and take your life off of PAUSE.................and live today. Take back that which God expects you and I to do in this that Garden He has planned for us. Take each day and renew that desire back to God and understand completely that Jesus is our Bread of LIFE! Be restored to experience new foods that are life-giving, be open to relationships that encourage growth in God and His Word, be resilient and quick to ask for forgiveness of sins...........those that are ours and of those who may have trespassed against us.

As God breathed into Adam, that man was given life that IS, WAS AND IS TO COME! Remember each day, we have the opportunity to SEE THAT SAME breath life breathed into us that which requires His life. Whether it is in marriage, raising children, entering into what many call retirement or just finding those new friends and great new food for health, all should be about our relationship with God.

We are to live in eternity. A world without end......with Alpha and Omega........the Beginning and the End.....Who SEES All...........Knows All! It has been by His grace that we are the saved........having Jesus to rule over our hearts......to walk through this life remembering every thing He has done for us..........forgetting not to worship, committing to keep that communication open with Him who not only desired to walk with Adam, BUT who sent the Son of His love and to receive His family through the broken body of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
NO PAUSE BUTTONS, PLEASE! Let's keep our focus on Him Who is the Great "I AM" in our midst. May we recall through Communion of that Blood shed for us and of that broken body reflecting on eternity. Surely we all have a past........soiled, bruised, battered, and sometimes looking worse because of the choices we made, but today we have the risen Savior. Today looks bright, even though it is pouring down rain here, yet OUR deliverer is STANDING BY...............He is on His Way..........Let's live the way He gave His life for us to live.................AMEN!

Who Are the OPPRESSED?

Galatians 6:7-10
7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.   NKJV

Sowing is God's idea. John 12:24-26
24 I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. 25 The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
NIV

Sowing a good seed, that is planted as in gardening, will die and bring up a crop....it produces many seeds. Here in this scripture, Jesus was telling them that we are to hate that which is of the flesh.........that life we know so "naturally", but that which is of the spirit will follow Jesus and will live where He does forever!

And reading on that flesh nature, one would really not want to sow that which is just "trouble".
Romans 6:13-14
13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead ( flesh nature), and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
NKJV
Romans 8:12-13
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors--not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
NKJV

For whatever we sow to in the flesh, we will certainly reap. You allow someone to come out of a gas station or convenience store ahead of you who is on the main road, and do that several times...........you find you have a harvest coming to you when you find yourself coming out of a convenience store in 5 pm traffic and the line of cars is too many to count or even see to the end of the line..................and..........suddenly........... an opening appears, the man has paused the traffic, he waves you onto the main road in front of him, and "happy day" you are on your way home sooner than later. Doing good to others is something we need to keep watch over! That means even in situations of someone being ugly to you, calling you names or attacking your character. Jesus was attacked in the same way. The religious folks of that day certainly attacked Him, did they not?
Mark 3:4-6
4 Then Jesus asked them, "Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?" But they remained silent.

5 He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. 6 Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians how they might kill Jesus.
NIV

In writing this today I was shocked by watching a report from this state in which a police officer was being fired because of his handling of a situation involving an 16 year old (or 18 year old). (the news reports changes from channel to channel on the age) Some fifty percent thought he was being violent and the other fifty percent thought he handled it accurately as the teen......considered old enough in most states to know better was told she was leaving school because of bad attitude to teacher and Administrative person. (something about using her cell phone during class time) I could not fathom such behavior toward someone in authority. In the year I graduated from high school, you certainly did not talk back to the Superintendent nor did you speak ill to your teacher. Such behavior was brought up to the parents of the misbehaving student, male or female, and was going to be handled directly by expulsion from school and for some, that expulsion was forever. I would never had thought of doing such an act at school or anywhere else. First of all, I would not have been able to sit for a week, and I would have been made to apologize to those I spoke ill to. Oh, did I mention I would probably had my mouth washed out with lava soap?

I remember a couple different students in the school I attended who were singled out because of their behavior during class time and what was not acceptable,  they were told to get their things together including books and or coat/jacket..........and when that door opened to the hallway, "the" said student was leaving the classroom and the school! Finished, dealt with and the classroom was back to order and the teacher was teaching the class again without any interruptions. What I saw in those days that happened was a defiant student disregarding authority!

For some reason I had this thought as well. Maybe because October is the Halloween craze time! I thought of the Mary Shelley's book on Frankenstein. (you know they show it a lot, and make it available right now) The "thing" that man created was to live by applying electricity. This being created surely walked by that power......was made to live, but became violent because of loneliness. Because the being had no one like them to love them..........and then I thought of this teen........that one a "lonely one"......is there no love?

Immediately I wanted to pray for the entire group of people who were involved in something that cost a man his job............and the teacher and Administrative person to lose authority. This world has certainly turned upside down!
I kept thinking of the scripture of reaping the whirlwind.........Proverbs 1:20-33
20 Wisdom shouts in the streets for a hearing. 21 She calls out to the crowds along Main Street, and to the judges in their courts, and to everyone in all the land: 22 "You simpletons!" she cries. "How long will you go on being fools? How long will you scoff at wisdom and fight the facts? 23 Come here and listen to me! I'll pour out the spirit of wisdom upon you and make you wise. 24 I have called you so often, but still you won't come. I have pleaded, but all in vain. 25 For you have spurned my counsel and reproof. 26 Some day you'll be in trouble, and I'll laugh! Mock me, will you?-I'll mock you! 27 When a storm of terror surrounds you, and when you are engulfed by anguish and distress, 28 then I will not answer your cry for help. It will be too late though you search for me ever so anxiously.

29 "For you closed your eyes to the facts and did not choose to reverence and trust the Lord, 30 and you turned your back on me, spurning my advice. 31 That is why you must eat the bitter fruit of having your own way and experience the full terrors of the pathway you have chosen. 32 For you turned away from me-to death; your own complacency will kill you. Fools! 33 But all who listen to me shall live in peace and safety, unafraid."   TLB

Those who abide in the Lord (John 15), all who listen to the Wisdom of God shall live in peace and safety, unafraid.  My concern here and it goes back to sowing that seed to the "flesh" is that what happens say in a year or two...........what if that school has some  call out for help ........a call out to the police station, but they have none! What if a "shooter" shows up............and those who have spurned counsel and reproof to do their own thing........mock the police and others in authority. then....how long before the table is turned for that which is of the ""bitter fruit".........and trouble comes there, but there is no help for them because of what is going on across this country?  What if they "need" help from some kind of law enforcement and there are none to call on to give the needed "HELP"?

Yes, people have to be treated fairly and expect to be heard, but not at the expense of someone being hurt when being taken from a classroom and not at the expense of someone losing their job.
Scripture tells us in Proverbs 1.......that trouble will come.............to those who have turned away from the life in God to death in the pathway which reveals the flesh creature.........doing our own thing, something we choose because we "want" to do it!
From the blog: BUTTING AND DISTURBING: But God is to be our justice. Sometimes people just rise up to do some "unthinkable" things to get their say, their way and their voice heard for the 15 minutes or such, but we can call on God to hear us when we have some complaint. When we have something going on, then we must take it to God for the answer!

Proverbs 23:29-35....29 Who has woe?
Who has sorrow?
Who has contentions?
Who has complaints?
Who has wounds without cause?
Who has redness of eyes?
30 Those who linger long at the wine.
Those who go in search of mixed wine.
31 Do not look on the wine when it is red,
When it sparkles in the cup,
When it swirls around smoothly;
32 At the last it bites like a serpent,
And stings like a viper.

33 Your eyes will see strange things,
And your heart will utter perverse things.
34 Yes, you will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea,
Or like one who lies at the top of the mast, saying:
35"They have struck me, but I was not hurt;
They have beaten me, but I did not feel it.
When shall I awake, that I may seek another drink.?" NKJV

What terrible problems that come when we desire or want what we either should not have, or do not need. It is like becoming intoxicated with the thing "we so desire" to have or control, to have "my way" or add to our collection of things we think we need at the time! And being intoxicated with those desires, our want can cause us to start those quarrels that end nowhere, but in the place of many wounds JUST because "we want that thing"! In some respect, some will even go searching for those who will join in with them to agree for that "thing desired". And however good the appearance or the thing may sound at the time of our desire, one will certainly know after some time has gone by, that it can come back to bite you in a big way!

What we sow to, we will reap!
Yes, seems things have turned chaotic. We certainly need His judgment today and the mercy that comes from and through the Cross of Jesus Christ. I am one person, but I am a praying person, who prays out to God to save our youth today, save them before it is too late, that their lives are not lost forever. I pray out that people who have a walk with God will turn their prayers from we four and no more, to prayers for God, His justice, safety for our youth, for millions not to be blinded by the avalanche that has covered this land.
This entire world is in danger. It is a world gazing upon man and not on God the Creator of the heavens and the earth.

Again, I look back in the day and time I was raised in the south and attended school. As children, we were all expected to have respect for our parents, teachers, and especially those in authority. We were expected to obey the instructions given us. I certainly know as a youth growing up in the south that when I gave respect to others, I received respect back to me. I certainly saw it in giving it to the elder population in our community of which I lived. And certainly things have changed from my youth and my daughter's youth, with sex offenders and pedophile's making the nightly news. You have all kinds of predators today that did not either exist or just were not made known till now, either way, we need God's wisdom for these situations.
I believe that when we are raised in hearing the word of God, and that can start for any of us at any age, we are setting ourselves, our children and their children to rise above the "things" of the world and move through this life, this journey in victory.

But when we start telling God we do not want Him in our schools or we do not want prayer in the council meetings, we have a problem. Do we not see? Can we not fathom the chaos that will come to light when we continue to lift man's image and his mental knowledge............that he knows more..........than God does?
No, in watching the news today, we can certainly see man being served!
In Proverbs 21:16.........we are told "the man who strays away from common sense will end up dead"! And in Proverbs 21:23...."keep your mouth closed and you'll stay out of trouble".  TLB

God certainly sees.......He watches over the evil and the good. Finding the "good" in all this can seem complicated. The best thing here, is to stay close to God, follow His direction and trust that He is for you. In all that is in heaven, on earth and under the earth  ( Philippians 2:9-11)..........at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow............to the glory of God the Father. Amen.

In closing: Proverbs 15:26.....26 The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD, But the words of the pure are pleasant. NKJV
Psalm 118:8-9
8 It is better to trust the Lord than to put confidence in men. 9 It is better to take refuge in him than in the mightiest king!
TLB

Those who follow after righteousness, those in right standing with God have pure words that are pleasant! (they are a joy to be around) They will encourage you, love God and always have a testimony of faith on the goodness of God in their lives!

Pollution!

James 1:19-27
19 My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. 21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it-he will be blessed in what he does.

26 If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. NIV

Interesting James wrote this to those who have the Word of God. (verse 21)

When our daughter was young as well as our grand-child, the two had something very common to most "kids". They both liked mud puddles to jump in. They both loved that one "special" one and where to find it as soon as the rain slowed enough to get outside. For our grandchild, it was only a few forty steps probably from their front door. Although a paved road, there was a radical dip in the road, and it held water every time it rained. We could get our rain jackets on, and the dog's leash for a walk in the rain. What a delight, and what laughter a child could exude in those first moments out the front door. Oh yes, the child was gracious to allow the dog that walk out to their perfect "potty" place, and we could certainly walk the block around, but that puddle was going to be dealt a blow, a stomp, and maybe both feet before heading back to that front door of the house. It hopefully would prove that a lot of stomping could rid that puddle of its rain, leaving the grit and debris behind.

In writing this today, I think of what we could get into that would pollute us.
Romans 12:2
2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.     NIV

Yes, it is God's will that we seek. Not our own way, but His which is one of wisdom. 1 Corinthians 1:30
Weymouth New Testament: But you---and it is all God's doing---are in Christ Jesus: He has become for us a wisdom which is from God, consisting of righteousness and sanctification and deliverance.

Again we have James below: as we saw from the James 1 and this in James 4, we can see what sin can do and where it comes from. In this day of super-grace, my thoughts are what do those super-grace teachers do with the book of James. He surely spent much time writing on sin and that which pollutes man!
In verse 9 we are told to mourn and grieve because of sin. But when we humble ourselves before God, repent of pointing that finger to "Joe" on the I-5 corridor, we can move closer to God. I do not know about you, but I desire to be close to God and hear Him when He speaks to me!
James starts out in James 4 talking to those "adulterous" people. Yikes, adulterous people!

James 4:4-10
4 You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely?  6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:

"God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble."

7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.                 NIV

Any idea what the proud look like? It says that God opposes the proud, but will give grace to the humble. Well anything that comes from self-righteousness is being proud of our own accomplishments. It is a self-worship! It speaks " I did this with no help from anyone!" " I got this big house and fancy car without help." " I play this guitar with no help from anyone!" "I made my millions by "my own hand."
Yes, that pride thing is a really bad thing..............and then to have evil behavior and a perverse speech with it, too!

  Proverbs 8:13 tells us.....13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil;
I hate pride and arrogance,  evil behavior and perverse speech.    NIV

The Living Bible states this: Proverbs 8:13
13 If anyone respects and fears God, he will hate evil. For wisdom hates pride, arrogance, corruption, and deceit of every kind.    TLB

WISDOM hates pride, arrogance, corruption and deceit of every kind! So wisdom will not dwell with those things. Every decision where those things reside, will cause us to make very bad mistakes concerning our lives, our children's lives, those in the workplace and out on the roadway!

Psalm 4 teaches this from the Living Bible:    4 These wicked men, so proud and haughty, seem to think that God is dead. They wouldn't think of looking for him! 5 Yet there is success in everything they do, and their enemies fall before them. They do not see your punishment awaiting them. 6 They boast that neither God nor man can ever keep them down-somehow they'll find a way!

7 Their mouths are full of profanity and lies and fraud. They are always boasting of their evil plans. 8 They lurk in dark alleys of the city and murder passersby. 9 Like lions they crouch silently, waiting to pounce upon the poor. Like hunters they catch their victims in their traps. 10 The unfortunate are overwhelmed by their superior strength and fall beneath their blows. 11 "God isn't watching," they say to themselves; "he'll never know!"   TLB

BUT God does know and He keeps watch on the evil and the good: Proverbs 15:3:    3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place,   Keeping watch on the evil and the good.     NKJV

1 John 2:15-17
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For everything in the world-the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does-comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.                NIV

NO CONTAMINATION
Being without spot might seem hard! But in reading on in 1 John 2 we find some things to keep in mind. I have heard some say that they believe once saved, always saved. I do not believe this is true. I have seen people in the church, who loved the Lord and when that windfall come in, they traded His glory of that new home and new car...........to never return to worship Him in the corporate worship. I have seen those who just refused to do the word of God...........who started out strong or so it appeared and move farther away from Him. I believe we are to guard our eye gate, ear gate, and especially that mouth gate. For James even mentions the importance of guarding the tongue too!
James 3:5-6
5 Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.                  NIV

Remember, James wrote that it was the last hour. If it was the last hour when he lived, how much closer are we to THE coming of Jesus Christ now? Those that remain, who receive that implanted word that saves our souls is done for His glory and brings blessings to us. Those who remain the committed to God and His Word are knowing that Christ is near to His coming, indeed!

John said that the anointing from the Holy One causes us to reside in truth. It is in that "special" place, we recognize that which is the lie. Because no lie comes from the truth. We are to reside in truth.
Anyone today who denies that Jesus is the Christ, is the one who denies the Father and the Son. (John 2:20-25)
Eternal life is for those who have the Father and the Son. We are to guard that which remains in us.
There are too many today stepping aside and not giving the scripture about truth concerning those things that seem to plague the news. There are those who try to find a group of people who will agree with them about men with men and women with women. Yet I have not found that in the Bible. Those who participated in that were talked about as in Sodom and Gomorrah. Hailstones and fire rained down on those from what we find in the Old Testament..........Genesis 19:23-28
23 By the time Lot reached Zoar, the sun had risen over the land. 24 Then the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah--from the LORD out of the heavens. 25 Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, including all those living in the cities--and also the vegetation in the land. 26 But Lot's wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.

27 Early the next morning Abraham got up and returned to the place where he had stood before the LORD. 28 He looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, toward all the land of the plain, and he saw dense smoke rising from the land, like smoke from a furnace.              NIV

Now remember that God loves people. They are created in His image, but the sin He certainly hates. Read on: Proverbs 6:16-19
16 These six things the LORD hates,
Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
17 A proud look,
A lying tongue,
Hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that are swift in running to evil,
19 A false witness who speaks lies,
And one who sows discord among brethren.   NKJV

The Living Bible states this:  Proverbs 6:16
16 For there are six things the Lord hates-no, seven: haughtiness, lying, murdering, plotting evil, eagerness to do wrong, a false witness, sowing discord among brothers. TLB

haughtiness: self-importance, pride
lying: being untruthful about someone or something, giving false statements
murdering: without excuse or without justification
plotting evil: planning to hurt someone, devising something wicked against another
eagerness to do wrong: passionate for the wrong thing, intent of going against rules
false witness: a perjurer, a liar, a false testimony
sowing discord:planting those seeds of strife, disagreements, feuds

1 John 2:29.....

In the writing John has here, is that which is of God is the truth, He also states that when Jesus returns for His own, that we would not be ashamed at His coming. Our confidence is to be in God ......that He is righteous, and then we do right...........we have been born of Him. (verse 29)
Will any of us be ashamed at His return? Does He not see and know what we are doing?

I surely love what John wrote in 1 John 3. He speaks of the great love the Father has lavished on us to that we should be called the children of God. Amen.
The world does not know God, so the world will not know us. In His appearing for us, His own, we shall see Him as He is. And everyone of us.............who has this hope of His return, purifies ourselves, just as He is pure. But anyone who lives according to the world, and lives not according to His Word sins against God. For John goes on in 1 John 3:4.....of the lawlessness which is sin. For anyone who lives in Christ Jesus will not keep on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen Him or known Him.

THEN John adds: do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. No one born of God will continue to sin. This clearly shows that which is a child of God and that which is the child of the devil. For anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.

Yes, it all comes back to love others. It is about loving everyone above ourselves. It is loving our neighbors, any person of any age and any color. We are to love our family members even we do not understand them. In truth, our lives should mirror that of God's Word. If it does not, then we must find out why it does not do that!

We are not to conform to the pattern of this world. Not sure anyone would remember paper dolls and their clothes. But they were precisely cut out........and you could dress the doll in whatever clothes you had at the time. They were printed out or stamped with cutters to give the outline of an outfit, a coat, a hat or even mittens, and boots or shoes. But there was no other lines. There could be no movement in arms, in the legs or even with the head. That is what  I think of as anything that pertains to the world. It will do anything for you, not take you anywhere except further into more sin. And that sin will hold you there! It will dress you, and keep you there. It will try to help you remember all the party times but not the tragic moments of those party times when making a wrong decision.

Transformation is key! Transformation applies to any job, any thing we work at, any thing that can be transformed as to.....our own lives, our families, our marriage, our job, a new God idea for creating something new as to the workplace, even a new God thing applying to ministry and prayer! It is finding out how God does things..........and............Transformation is.......a change, a conversion, revolutionary move, a turn around that moves us from mediocrity and the mundane to the living an adventurous life with God.  We are not to be conformed to the way the world does things, but become those empowered by God to bring and revolutionize in a dramatic and far-reaching way of touching people with God's love. Our minds are to be renewed to change and most people hate change. But we can see the rotation of the earth that brings on the 4 seasons. That spin on things brings changes like it or not.
There are certainly a lot of folks jumping in those mud puddles today, they are jumping into things that God hated, but He sent His son of Love to bring love to a dying people. We are to find that Love by looking into the perfect law of liberty. We are to submit to God, resist the devil and come near to God. For when we seek God with our whole hearts, He comes near to speak with us. We are to purify ourselves of the things of the world. Not be double-minded............walking both in the world and with God.....that does not and will not work.
Walking on that fence between the world and God is dangerous. A book still out that has lasted several years is a good one to read. It is " 23 Minutes in HELL" by Bill Wiese....It is one man's story about what he saw, heard and felt in that place of torment.
This being October and seeing how those "horror" flicks flood the viewing audience, especially on a few channels, I wonder what their thoughts, those who truly love the "horror" flick would think about hell knowing that hell is real and that it is forever. After reading through this book again, I am thankful for Jesus and that He wanted me and you to be with Him for an eternity..........in heaven and not in hell!

Our desire should be to leave the world behind. For everything in the world----the cravings of sinful man, the lust of the eyes, and the the boasting of what he has and does----comes not from the Father but of the world. THE MAN WHO DOES THE WILL OF GOD LIVES FOREVER. AMEN.

We are not to change His Word, but follow it. We are to adhere to truth and leave the false. We are to abide in Him, and as we do.........we are transformed into the man and woman He planned for us to be!
People must know truth to not only survive but thrive in this world today! Our expectation, yes our hope, is in the One True God who made heaven and earth. Who gave us His Son, the Son of His love for us to have a life with HIM forever. I hope to see you there!..........in eternity with Him! Shelley

"WITHOUT FEAR"

1 Corinthians 4:14-21
14 I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I warn you. 15 For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. 16 Therefore I urge you, imitate me. 17 For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church. 18 Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you. 19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord wills, and I will know, not the word of those who are puffed up, but the power. 20 For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power. 21 What do you want? Shall I come to you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?    NKJV

1 Corinthians 16:5-12
5 Now I will come to you when I pass through Macedonia (for I am passing through Macedonia). 6 And it may be that I will remain, or even spend the winter with you, that you may send me on my journey, wherever I go. 7 For I do not wish to see you now on the way; but I hope to stay a while with you, if the Lord permits. 8 But I will tarry in Ephesus until Pentecost. 9 For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries. 10 Now if Timothy comes, see that he may be with you without fear; for he does the work of the Lord, as I also do. 11 Therefore let no one despise him. But send him on his journey in peace, that he may come to me; for I am waiting for him with the brethren. 12 Now concerning our brother Apollos, I strongly urged him to come to you with the brethren, but he was quite unwilling to come at this time; however, he will come when he has a convenient time.          NKJV

Paul is looking over his itinerary the Lord has given him. As the act of an apostle, his is to remain faithful to that which is before him. Paul was one who did not hold to tightly to one thing the Lord presented, but always looking for that advantage of an "open door" in which he would present the gospel wherever he was sent. He sends a letter to those at Corinth, to say that Timothy is coming. And at his appearing, Paul wants Timothy to be at ease to do the work he is sent to do without being in fear. Paul goes on to say, "Therefore let no one despise him, But send him on his journey, that he may come to me; for I am waiting for him with the brethren."

Paul wanted Timothy to have such a good visit and a good work that he would leave Corinth and in his going to Paul, he would be at peace with the brethren. Apostles certainly have their work cut out for them. Like Paul, he was sending whom God had called and wanted to those of Corinth to receive God's anointed man. Yet, even then, it was evident that the men of Corinth had a problem with Timothy. We see Timothy going to Corinth in 1 Corinthians 4, but are not sure he made it in the writing of 1 Corinthians 16.
Paul had sent letters to the church at Corinth and through the length of 1 Corinthians, we note that he was dealing with them in issues as to: immorality, self-indulgence, another self-indulgence in the spiritual gifts and into a doctrine in denial of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. They sounded like the party group who love to gorge themselves on food and drink...........eat, drink and be merry kind of folks! For their spiritual gifts, they saw that some of those "spiritual gifts" were more highly esteemed and they desired to abandon those God had given them and to acquire only those which folks would look up to them for. Their church meetings then became the chaotic and not of the peace and power of the Holy Spirit. They chose to indulge in that which brought them attention.
God has His way of doing something and in a service to worship God in word and psalms is that which in the order He desires it to be done. It is in the love of God and brings glory back to God and not to man.
Though Timothy was with Paul when the letter or Epistle to Corinth was sent, yet we do not know if Timothy got there. (1 Corinthians 16) Although there is no mention, yet Paul wanted these people to understand he was sent and was on the authority of what was started in Corinth.

When reading about the Corinthians, I always think of Naaman who had leprosy in the book of  2 Kings and chapter 5. We were told of Naaman to be the commander of the army of the king of Syria. From the reading, we are told that he was indeed great and honorable in the eye of his master. In Naaman's leadership, the Lord had given victory over to Syria. We find he is told by the young servant girl to find Elisha and that he, Naaman, would be healed of the leprosy. In all the communication going on among all the leadership when Naaman asks of Elisha, we find him arriving at the prophet's door. He was expecting, by what scripture states, that the prophet himself to come, greet Naaman, call on the name of the LORD, Elisha's God, wave his hand over the place and the leprosy would be gone. But alas, it was not to be the way the man Naaman wanted it done. Elisha gave instruction to his servant who in turn gave it to Naaman. "Go wash in the Jordan seven times and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean." When Naaman heard this, he became furious. He probably had some choice words he had to speak and protest against, especially regarding the dirty water of the Jordan River. Was Naaman, because of his high rank, and his victory in war, bring him to a prideful state? Did he feel slighted by the young girl or by the prophet himself?

Of course, we know Naaman took the instructions, obeyed them and was healed. But I think of those Timothy was sent to help. Even though he had the same gifts in leadership as Paul, were those of Corinth in a prideful state, that they grew to despise the young man and the wisdom of God he carried to them? Were they wanting to do things differently..........? Well, we know the letter Paul wrote to them dealt with serious issues!

Paul called Timothy a true son in the faith in 1 Timothy 1:2.
Timothy was raised by his mother Eunice, and Grandmother Lois.

2 Timothy 1:3-7
3 I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day, 4 greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, 5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. 6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Paul had a relationship with young Timothy. He knew something of his childhood and where he stood in that day he declared him a true son in the faith.
Paul also recognized the faith that came in Timothy by being disciplined to the Word of God. Timothy was young, but he was the genuine article, he proved faithful in how he had been brought up and how his perseverance to work with others was one being obedient to the call on his life.

A Proven Character....
Philippians 2:19-24
19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, that I also may be encouraged when I know your state. 20 For I have no one like-minded, who will sincerely care for your state. 21 For all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus. 22 But you know his proven character, that as a son with his father he served with me in the gospel. 23 Therefore I hope to send him at once, as soon as I see how it goes with me. 24 But I trust in the Lord that I myself shall also come shortly.            NKJV

Wow, Paul knows without a doubt that Timothy will continue to be like-minded in the things of God. Of his proven character time and time again, and Paul even compares to others who he sent who did not continue to expand the kingdom but their own and things which had nothing pertaining to the kingdom of God which had come!

The good Fight of Faith......
Paul assigned Timothy a work that had serious difficulties in it. He felt he needed to write to those of Corinth, probably because of their bold attitude toward Paul and others who had come in with the gospel. Paul was giving the young bishop, the order for which was the church worship, choosing some leaders within the church and how to deal with different kinds of people. Paul was asserting that Timothy worked with him as a father and son work together. They were communicating as a father and son would communicate. They were communicating as a team!  That is one thing that is really lacking today within church leadership.............none as the father to the son or to the daughter!

Although things went wrong in Corinth and much chaos had broken out....we know that another was there as we see in Titus. While it was noted that Titus was sent to hold everything in a peaceful form of leading and teaching how the church would be, insuring that those impoverished Jews would be taken care of...... the answer was there due to those following the instructions which ultimately came from God.
In Timothy....one considered a youth, but called by God, and he kept that Word of God before him. Although it is thought that his nervous system suffered because of infirmity.........and possible out of the fear of those who were there before him, yet, he held his ground!  We read little of him in the New Testament, but it was important words that teach how one behaves in doing the work of the ministry. Timothy, too me, had maintained his high view of the word in regard to those around him. He did not stop!

1 Timothy 6:11-16
11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, 14 that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ's appearing, 15 which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.                 NKJV

Walking in Wisdom........

John 18:35-38
36 Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here." 37 Pilate therefore said to Him, "Are You a king then?" Jesus answered, "You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice." 38 Pilate said to Him, "What is truth?" And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, "I find no fault in Him at all.    NKJV

Paul had told Timothy.............he urged him in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate to keep that commandment without spot, blameless until the Lord's appearing. Above in John 18 we see what Jesus spoke to Pilate: "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants wold fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but My kingdom is not from here." Jesus went on to say, " For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth, hears My voice."

So Timothy had probably been told this many times by Paul. Keep that which is committed to you. And Timothy held onto that truth, knowing his kingdom is with Jesus as Lord. It is not of this world and Timothy was to bear witness to that truth. And anyone who was in truth in Corinth should have heard the Lord speaking through Timothy.
But things happen, right? So men like having the preeminence, even though God sends someone who walks with God, has His wisdom and prays, yet the prideful can have many issues. But Timothy the humble saw Titus come..............and the rest is history!

Waging the Warfare...........

1 Timothy 1:18-20
18 This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, 19 having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck, 20 of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme.
NKJV

Timothy had to see that which Paul had implemented of the truth was in place always. There was to be no contrary teaching to that which Paul had given. Paul makes note of Hymenaeus and Alexander who were named to denote their unfaithful acts toward God. They reject the whole of the gospel and it appeared in the writing as a ship, a vessel fully loaded but it strikes on a rock and sinks.
You can see history on the maritime vessels and their trips over the ocean in the most rocky of seas. The pictures and videos they show can give detail how a ship can be broken up without the right adjustments on that rudder. In that movie the "Perfect Storm" you can see that no amount of training and reading of weather reports and other important information regarding the trip were helpful. Those waves produced by that storm were those we would rather watch from a distance and not actually be in that "major" storm.   For whatever their own knowledge of sailing was at the time, their fate was in the perfect storm.

In Timothy, we can learn a lot of things. As one who stands and we see it every step he took, he obeyed the Word of God!
Wherever our walk of faith is at, whatever our destiny in serving the Lord, I pray ours would be like that of young Timothy. That we would not back down, but hold our course for that which is truth. Ours will always have to be that good fight of faith.....................that wisdom we require is that which young Timothy sought. He held his course and continued the work of the ministry!

.....Father, we know about those in the Bible, those who have been presented to us in that Hall of Faith, and we see those like Timothy who was told to guard what was committed to his trust. In Jesus' name, we pray to be those who will guard that which has been given us, that we will be the committed with that which has been given in our hand to share with others. We desire to avoid the profane and idle babble and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge. (1 Timothy 6:20-21)
We understand that we are to have knowledge of the holy One. Your Word teaches us that a wise man when rebuked will love you all the more. Teaching a wise man, and he will be the wiser still. Teach a good man and he will learn more. Our desire Father, is to be the teachable, so that when we move into our positions to lead, we will lead in faith and not in fear. For the reverence and fear of God are basic to all wisdom. Knowing You our Father God results in every other kind of understanding.
For Wisdom will make the hours of our day more profitable and the years of our life more fruitful.
Wisdom is its own reward.
Father, we are the teachable..........move us forward in that direction You have chosen for us. May we be reminded of Your grace and be forever the faithful witness. Today we desire to press in, we take delight in You and expect a breakthrough into Your plan for us. May our speech and preaching, be not with persuasive words of human wisdom but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. For we desire our faith to be in the power of God and not in the wisdom of men. (1 Corinthians 2:5) Father, we pray to be the mature, speaking Your wisdom.......that of God in a mystery, which You ordained before the ages for our glory. (verse 7)

Like Timothy, we are holding on, and are remembering  that spoken prophetic Word spoken over us years ago. Help us to see YOUR hand leading us to the place for each of us that is a blessing and a purpose. We will not fear the "unknown" for we know it is the place WHERE YOU DWELL and we want to be found with YOU! Today, we let go of the past and reach forward expecting the adventure of our lives. Amen.

What exactly is 'Difficult'?

When thinking about our lives, and where we are with the Lord, I recall those people who lived out their lives of the 18th and 19th century. Now seeing commercials on T.V. about what they are calling a pioneer woman, I am amazed that they would think that women actually wore those nice leather boots up to the knees.........and that those boots had some fancy heals on them! Pioneer meant: someone who is exploring and the first one there at the time. It can mean someone leading.........an establishing as in a settler: a trailblazer!

Really? What pioneer woman are they thinking of.......today........the one who drives two hours a day.........an hour each way to their workplace and then home or where else will she forge through to do? Where else or what would she use those boots for in her life? Are they just her 'style'....and....is it how she is dressing up today?

Now, if you 'love' those boots by all means wear them, but do not think wearing them makes you that pioneer woman. No, an actual pioneer woman experienced a "difficult" life!
Now let's consider living 150 years ago or even 200 years ago.  Let us consider how people prepared food or even how they traveled. Let's consider there were no malls or that convenient grocery mart close by. I remember my mom telling me how her grandparents lived and how they worked, how they prepared food and how most was grown, and  the work which had to be done to prepare the fire within a confined space before hand that included gathering wood for the kitchen stove. Yes, there was no electricity in some areas, especially in the country areas.YIKES!
People had to start early to get food from the barnyard to the table in record time.
When moving to the Northwest, I wondered about the year I-5 went into Seattle. Was not that long ago, seriously. I had questions of travel just in and around that city on Puget Sound. It was interesting in that most areas out from the Emerald City had dirt roads. Many of the trees had not come down till the interstate went in...........and the growth was on. The skies at that time were filled with hundreds upon hundreds of birds and now is just a memory of what the decade of the sixties held for that era of time.

In thinking on travel and those areas of no pavements, no sidewalks but only dirt roads or as of the Northwest, muddy roadways into those areas of tall trees and darkness, what must have been a shoe of convenience. People in and around some 40-50 miles north out of Seattle had to leave before dark fell because of no lighting in those recessed areas of the forest at the time only brought a deep darkness that headlights on a car could not help.
In looking at styles of shoes and even in boots of those centuries, you could find those lace-up styles like in the Jane Austen books. You could find those fancy little numbers to wear to the balls or during that dance 'craze' time! Women who had some access to them certainly wore them. In that day though, most wore the straight line or what manufacturers called the simple flat shoe. In truth, they were not for walking a distance across the mountain ranges that was a barrier to the west coast of America. There are some good books out there about some of those wagon trains from Philadelphia to the West........and some certainly give an accurate record of those wagon train trips across the divide, the amount of supplies they carried, and the number of people who rode inside one. Many had to walk though. When any problem came, and if the wagon or wagons broke up along the way, and was lost and people happened to survive that horrible event, then those folks walked across the GREAT DIVIDE! ( and I wonder what shoe they had on)
It was noted that in the 1840's women who were working in some low key jobs had to wear what we would call a safety shoe or boot.(today, we know them as the steel-toed boot or shoe) It was made in the style for men, but made in the women's size to wear. Of course, that lace-type style continued to grow across the U. S. from east coast and out west. But availability was only where the shoe or boot was manufactured. And again, the availability of that boot was if you could afford it.

Now thinking of the 18th century, the years of January 1, 1701-December 31, 1800, we saw the French and American Revolutions.  It was about mid 18th century when the waterproof boot came into being. It certainly came into use for the great outdoors. Then, those with that creative ability came out with riding boots. You know, that riding boot, to wear when riding a horse!  (not sure why you needed them, but they looked great, right?)
The choice was to wear a day shoe and then wear a more ankle type for the evening wear. You might remember in etiquette that many dressed for the evening meal!  Yet, still those rugged type hiking boots for women and children would not be seen till after 1970. I know, when by shopping for a pair for our daughter when she turned two.  Found one for her that was the ankle length. For me, I had to get a boy's size to wear at the time! (and it was not ankle length)
Why, because we lived closer to rugged America! We were exploring the Rocky Mountains!
Now you could find a dressy boot, but something really substantial for hiking was hard to find. Not sure if the demand was so high, and the availability was low as this also came during the Oil Shortage Crisis that hit the U. S. in 1973. But the "mall" stores had little variety and you had to search it out, even in the city!

No, people who were considered "pioneers" had a wagon and a team of horses. They had their water in a barrel. They carried their provisions in sacks as to beans and rice. There was no drive-in restaurant to pull into on the way "home". And their home certainly was either the wagon or the wilderness with the starlight sky at night. They were going to carve out a life in a wilderness area where no one had been before. They were going to bring their knowledge of life and lifestyle to a land that knew little of man or his existence other than that which Indians might have added at the time or even the place they might have lived.

I remember going with this couple once on a hiking and hunting adventure. I was with my husband and daughter. We rode in the back of a jeep. We rode over hill and into deep ravines.
We went up over a mountain pass and was welcomed by the snow and remaining ice of the early arrival of winter on the scene of the majestic mountain range. The cool air was reminding us that winter was on its way and would be bringing some surprises of snowflakes on that sunny but cold and windy day. Alas, we got to this point by a river for a short picnic. Food was wonderful, and the warm drink certainly was inviting to warm a chilled body. I had long hair and had it pulled into a pony tail. I struggled with the dirt under my contacts. Well, believe me, that wind was blowing hard enough for dirt to fly readily into the face and under a contact on the eye. Well, at the end of that trip, my face looked like I had taken dirt and rubbed it on all over to camouflage my face. The only place there was no dirt was right along the sunglasses that I wore that day!
I smelled dust for that entire week after this hunting and hiking adventure. I thought that the "dust" from that adventure had surely taken up residence in my lungs.
I reminded myself of those settlers who had gone for months in a wagon over bumpy pathways with no pavement, no bridges, no air conditioning or heating systems in the wagons. They traveled over dusty pathways, over mountain passes and through waterways that cascaded over boulders, over fallen trees and down to a "place" where one might find a trickling spring of water, a barbershop who also did the medical part of the Doc, and a mercantile shop that might have some food supplies.
Yes, if you were the city guy or gal, you should have stayed in the city and forgot about the slogan "go west young man."

Genesis 47:7-10
7 Then Joseph brought his father Jacob in and presented him before Pharaoh. After Jacob blessed Pharaoh, 8 Pharaoh asked him, "How old are you?"

9 And Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The years of my pilgrimage are a hundred and thirty. My years have been few and difficult, and they do not equal the years of the pilgrimage of my fathers." 10 Then Jacob blessed Pharaoh and went out from his presence.   NIV

Genesis 47:7-10
7 Then Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh, and Jacob blessed Pharaoh. 8 And Pharaoh said to Jacob, "How many are the days of the years of your life?" 9 And Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The days of the years of my sojourning are a hundred and thirty years; few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their sojourning." 10 And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from the presence of Pharaoh.       RSV

Jacob tells Pharaoh, that his years were few ( 130 years) and difficult (evil) and he went on to say that his days had not attained to the days of the years of those his fathers had had.
SO what exactly is "DIFFICULT"?
We first consider Jacob's life. He was the 'supplanter' remember? (the liar) He had wanted his brother's birthright and of course, the blessing. His life became such a tangled mess when one's own way is done. His life was one of great toil..........serving many years for the one beloved wife he desired and loved. His wages,  well, they changed about ten times in six years.
His children, well, they were far from God. His only daughter was dishonored, the loss of Joseph his son for a length of time, and Rachel dying in childbirth with Benjamin. Although Benjamin survived, yet it was probably a daily reminder to Jacob of what he lost when the young man was born.  Many things happened to Jacob and his family. His years were the difficult that was just evil.

What makes our lives difficult? One main thing is not heeding God and His commands. Living life according to "me" works no good for anyone but possibly "me" for awhile.
Then.......well, we saw what happened to Jacob. What a tangled web of a mess. (See the blog: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Me)

But today I think of those who came across at the time of Columbus.
Now, when I was in school, I was taught that it was King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, that financed the voyage of Columbus. But that was not accurate!

In truth, it was financed by two Jewish converts. One was Louis de Santangel who was chancellor of the royal household and a Gabriel Sanchez who was the treasurer of Aragon. It was the letter sent from Columbus to these two men that told of his exploration. Historians say that there was no letter ever sent to the King and Queen of Spain.
The other historical account tells of the "difficult" time the Jews were having in Spain. It was this very king and queen who devised the plan to throw all the Jews out of Spain. In an edict signed on March 31st, in the year of 1492........was to keep Jews from making converts. The other was to keep the Jewish money that was needed for the kingdom to be rebuilt after the war against Muslims. So without taxing them, they decided to just throw them out, and keep the money. (now what about brotherly love???)
To keep the Catholic faith safe from outsiders, Jews in the cities and towns had to be moved. If these did not leave the said kingdom, then they were to be put to death. The Jews could leave alive but would not take their gold, silver or anything that was of value. No, these men and women were to leave penniless indeed!

This took some months of establishing the law and moving them out of the kingdom, so they had to move the date.........and that date was set as August 2, 1492. Jews were sent into exile. As this turned out, it was the 9th of Av, or the same date as the destruction of the first and second temple in Jerusalem. (anyone who stayed had to convert to Catholicism)
On August 3, Christopher Columbus left on the famed voyage. He took Jewish people with him, many of those who were exiled from Spain.

Yes, these men and women faced obstacles and challenges that others like the king and queen caused.

DIFFICULT! A PIONEER! Looks like a hard place to be and not a place to conform to that which makes us move from God. What does a real "trailblazer" look like?

Maybe, it is the person born without legs, but not without hope for a good life.
Maybe, it is the person who must leave his country to live longer in a strange land, but still have God.(have we not seen that in those people from Syria?)

Many who came to this new world of America, came because they wanted a place to worship God.
Like most pioneers, their objective was to find some land, live out their lives that looked a lot like hard work, tilling the land, and raising children among the Indians who inhabited those far away places. But one thing is certain, difficult should not define us! Scripture tells us that God can make our foreheads like adamant stone that is harder than flint. You know what you can do with flint, right? You can make it spark into a fire and a blaze!

Ezekiel 3:4-15
4 And He said to me: "Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with My words to them. 5 For you are not sent to a people of unfamiliar speech and of hard language, but to the house of Israel, 6 not to many people of unfamiliar speech and of hard language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely, had I sent you to them, they would have listened to you. 7 But the house of Israel will not listen to you, because they will not listen to Me; for all the house of Israel are impudent and hard-hearted. 8 Behold, I have made your face strong against their faces, and your forehead strong against their foreheads. 9 Like adamant stone, harder than flint, I have made your forehead; do not be afraid of them, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house." 10 Moreover He said to me: "Son of man, receive into your heart all My words that I speak to you, and hear with your ears. 11 And go, get to the captives, to the children of your people, and speak to them and tell them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD,' whether they hear, or whether they refuse."

12 Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me a great thunderous voice: "Blessed is the glory of the LORD from His place!" NKLV

Like Ezekiel, we too can be sent out to speak to people, those who speak the same language. Surely they spoke the same language in Spain at the time of the signed edict that would throw the Jews out of Spain, but the saving grace for many was a man, a Jew, name Columbus who would take the voyage into new territory........over the ocean and come to a new land!
Our foreheads can be set hard, against the pressures of those from the outside. We are to face the tomorrows with a spirit of change, not of one that is distracted or one who has those discontentment's of life. Surely others like to give labels and define us in the heading of a group. They did with the Jews in 1492. But our hearts should be grounded in God's Word. Not living our expectations of a commercial we see on television or read on a Facebook page. Surely God has our lives in His hands and He is not a hard taskmaster. He desires us to hear and obey. He desires a relationship with us............so that we can hear with our ears and get to the captives, to the children of our people, to tell them about God.
As that "trailblazer" we are the equipped with the Word of God. You and yours may surely wear boots and to the knees if you so like, but being a pioneer is doing a new thing before others have done it, and experienced it. Have you set your course for that which is life to you and for others?

Truly may our prayer be a confession of 2 Corinthians 4.....we are this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of power may be of God and not of us. Hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed, we are the perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down but not destroyed............for we are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake that the life of Jesus may be manifested  in our mortal flesh. We speak.........so others may hear and speak with thanksgiving to the glory of God. The light affliction is for a moment..........working in us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. We do not look at things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
(2 Corinthians 4:1) 4:1 Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart.

Let's forge our way forward, like a "trailblazer" and light the way for others to find the path to the living God. (Isaiah 43:19).....19 Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it?  I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert. (NKJV)

Is the World Dressing our Children?

Saw this most thoughtfully given encouragement on Tuesday the 13th of October. I usually am writing in the afternoon after my workout time. I had tuned to hear some praise and worship and missed the channel entirely. I had somehow picked the channel up one from the channel I frequent for worship. I tuned it on....raised the volume to hear.......and then went to the kitchen and ....got my ice water!  I was captured what this woman was speaking about the world dressing our children.
Of course, she was speaking of this coming Halloween Eve. She spoke of the importance of showing our children and grand-children that they are more than what movies can depict for them to be or become. This woman, probably a grand-mother today spoke on that which has been directed at our children and grand-children. Although she did not mention the title, you knew of what she spoke about.  She, a Jewish woman with the Hebraic heritage spoke how children, particularly girls need to know about the real Queen in the Bible. She immediately spoke of Queen Esther and how her normal life was forever changed when God showed up. The name of this Christian show was Rabbi Lapin on CTN.

I had tuned in today, but they were talking about those who cut themselves. It was very informative as well. But I was drawn back to yesterday's teaching on how we allow others to dress our "kids".
I also thought of Esther who was that young woman of courage. Although she was a stranger in that area, and had no living parents, she ultimately became Queen to an alcoholic, pagan king and saved a nation. Esther had Mordecai who raised her up after her parents death. She was one who faced a real enemy, never hurrying into anything, but taking time for fasting and prayer. She became the woman who acted on God's plan, even if it meant that she was going to perish. She certainly had the wisdom of God.

No, she did not turn anyone into an ice sculpture. She herself, encouraged those who were with her in facing an enemy who was not going to stop till he had seen the Jewish people annihilated. Serious things were going on in the land at the time of her life.

Where do we draw the line? Or should one be drawn.......to help our "kids" know they are more than that 45 dollar costume. How can we show them how we value them.........and teach them truth?

Now we certainly know  wardrobe styles change ..........for you certainly can tell that by looking in my closet and notice that right away. But I certainly do not dress as the world dictates.
I mean, if you look to Hollywood, most will not have much as covering anything that should be covered.
Now these are just my thoughts, but I am drawn back to some scriptures:

Proverbs 22:6
6 Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.    NKJV

That "train up" means "chanak" narrow....discipline.......to dedicate. ( I think of the short amount of time one has in raising a child..........then they leave home.)

That "in the way" means a road......."a course of life".

Ephesians 6:4
4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.          NKJV

Of course this means to bring no wrath that you and your child participate in together, but bring that child up in training and admonition of the Lord. Teaching them that He is God in our lives, in our homes, circumstances, and those things we do throughout the year! It also means that the child will have reverence for God!
Admonish: to warn, to warn of wrong practices, to warn against danger

Music and certainly movies can play a role in what a child will think or do. If they are not brought up in the things of the Lord, they may look on the world as a harmless place to experience life. YIKES!
In the last thirty years, we can see darkness has taken the lead especially in October to lead people of all ages to dress up and present to others...... something they are not.
It is like at the recent "zombie" thing in Florida, and shot rang out...........one dead and several injured.
We can see some participate in things which bring no life. I am not sure why some think it is important to participate in such things. I know it bothered me when our daughter was young. And I was surely happy when it snowed on those days, because when it snowed, it was usually a blizzard. And you did not go out..........at all for anything!

What are we teaching our children when allowing them these things?
Well, Shelley, Jesus would not care about such. Did you ask Him about such things? What does the Bible teach us about dressing in things that are not bringing life to us? Well, Shelley, one can certainly dream. Yes, but what will our "kids" dream?

Jesus did not come to accommodate a culture, but He came to set up His kingdom.
What if people got dressed up in those Dr. uniforms and went and fed the homeless?
What if teenagers got together...........made some sandwiches and went and fed the homeless?
What if we taught our "kids" to reach out to those "kids" who may not have that worldly costume to buy? What if we got together, made some stew, cornbread and fed like a neighborhood of people that night............instead?

Just thoughts here, remember.  I am just thinking what we could do differently to show people the "love" of Jesus.............in feeding them, bringing them a warm blanket or maybe some warm gloves. And talk about eternity with HIM!

What if we took that night and let others know about Jesus instead of worshiping the other?
What if we took our children or grand-children to visit the elderly in an old folk's home on that day? Well, Shelley that would scare my kids?    (and  queens with magic in their hands, ghosts, goblins, and witches don't) (the devil does not need a big "door" to enter your life and that of your children----all he needs is to get a foot hold into your home and family through one open area not guarded by God's word. He has had thousands of years to study mankind.)

Psalm 103:15-18
15 As for man, his days are like grass;
As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
16 For the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
And its place remembers it no more.
17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting
On those who fear Him,
And His righteousness to children's children,
18 To such as keep His covenant,
And to those who remember His commandments to do them.   NKJV

What we allow our kids and grand-kids to do comes back to us. What seeds we sow, will produce a harvest!   When we are those who truly fear Him, then our children and their children are secure. Those who keep His commandments and do them. What did Jesus say?

John 13:34-35
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."    NKJV

From the blog:  LEADING OUR CHILDREN BY GIVING THEM TRUTH  .......So when the
world sees us, do they see us as in the image of God our Father or of the world?
Hebrews 12:1-2....1  therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.   NKJV
That weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, can tangle one up in such a mess and delay God's plan for our lives.

"Well, everybody is doing it!" "Well. the pastor or the youth leader said the R-rated movie was okay to go see!"  "They think it has something to do with the Bible."  "Well, everyone else is going."
No, they are not!
What if God is calling you to go on a missions trip around the world? You will take what you gathered in your heart from the R-rated movie and take it overseas to minister with  you too! And what about the anointing, is it possible to not operate in that which God called you to do when we spend time in and with those R-rated movies? (Just think about Samson and the anointing he had)
"Well God wants us to have fun!"  Yes, but will the fun be at the expense of our souls and those we try to minister life to? We are not to copy the behavior and customs of the world. WE ARE NOT TO FOLLOW THE TRADITIONS OF MAN. WE ARE NOT TO BE RULED BY A CULTURE.  JESUS DID NOT COME TO ACCOMMODATE OUR CULTURE, HE CAME TO SET UP HIS KINGDOM. Our transformation is to be in the new person, the 'new man' God intended.
(Check out my blog: Trading Glory for Sorrows........and find out more about Samson and how he lost his anointing)

Are we showing our children that it is okay to dress up as the superhero? I know I have seen a few here in the neighborhood. But do the children know that "it is not real" that it is just a form of someone else's imagination? Well, Shelley, it is okay to dress-up! Is dressing up for our tomorrow's, the equipped in God with His Word and declaring truth or are we dressing up as one: a man in women's clothing, or a woman in man's clothing, or................???

Yes, seems like a fine line indeed! What will we do with it?

In closing: I leave you with this thought from scripture!
Matthew 27:15-26
15 Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to releasing to the multitude one prisoner whom they wished. 16 And at that time they had a notorious prisoner called Barabbas. 17 Therefore, when they had gathered together, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?" 18 For he knew that they had handed Him over because of envy. 19 While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, "Have nothing to do with that just Man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of Him." 20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus. 21 The governor answered and said to them, "Which of the two do you want me to release to you?" They said, "Barabbas!" 22 Pilate said to them, "What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?" They all said to him, "Let Him be crucified!" 23 Then the governor said, "Why, what evil has He done?" But they cried out all the more, saying, "Let Him be crucified!" 24 When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a tumult was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it." 25 And all the people answered and said, "His blood be on us and on our children." 26 Then he released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.    NKJV

Having nothing to do with innocent blood, the people chose the murderer Barabbas. In reading about Barabbas, we find that he was guilty of that which both the Romans and the Jews considered a serious liability, but because of the Jews hatred toward Jesus, they chose the perverse to let the Prince of peace die! Each day we choose either life or death. I heard recently that anyone who takes an offense against the Lord and His divinity are the carnal minded. They are those who have the carnal hatred against anything the Lord is speaking or doing. We saw it in the above passage. Those priests, scribes and Pharisees hated Jesus and they wanted Him gone, so they could continue their living what they thought was holy to God. They were so wrong!
In mid 2004, I was going up my staircase at home.........at been praying and seeking a title for a message for Jail Ministry........ALL I HEARD WAS "GIVE ME BARABBAS!" And the Lord led me through how the world always chooses that which is something they can live with. If they are the carnal, they will choose that which is also carnal.
Are rallying with the world? Are we the "conduit" for which the world can flow through us to our children, or are we the "conduit" for which God flows from our heart to those around us?
What these people chose, came on them and on their children as well.

Father, thank You for Jesus, the Son of Your love. You gave us life through Your Son who took on the Cross with joy in His heart. In all  that was going on, He saw us and saw this day. Show us what to do in these situations. Is it right to dress our children and their children in that which appears as a lie and something of someone else's imagination? You certainly desire us to dream dreams, and see them come to pass. But we also know they are those You planted in us from the foundation of the world. Help us to see where we might be missing something that is totally wrong for our "kids" to participate in this month. Help us to speak wisdom and receive light in anything that is dark with the Halloween Eve event. Truly our children are an heritage from the Lord and we know that YOU have a plan for their lives. They are our future. Help us to keep them safe when we should be guarding their eyes, their ears, and their hearts from anything that might be presented as the good but is really evil to our children.
Father, I think of the book of Amos and what he presented to the people. As the prophet, he was NOT there to infuse them with faith, with confidence or even in zeal... But ........ he was there to fill them with doubt about their lives. He had to show them by YOUR hand and Spirit that what they were doing was wrong and they needed to recognize it. Amos sowed seeds that brought doubt to them that  their future was not as bright as they had thought it was. And it certainly was not a secure future if they continued to walk the pathway they were going.
Are we too, becoming so lax, they we are those, who are not following You correctly? Are we in Your eyes, the "wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked".........as we see in the Laodicean church in Revelation?

Father, we surely want our "kids" to have a wonderful childhood but not at the expense of their souls. As the believer's, and those who seek Your plan, is our future looking bleak ........is it one where there is no hope ........but ONLYa testing?
For Amos surely announced that God was NOT WALKING WITH THEM!
Father, we surrender our lives and those of our children and their children to You. Have Your way in them, and may they have life everlasting.  Today we take heed to ourselves and to all the flock among which the Holy Spirit has made us overseers to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. (Acts 20:28) May we bring praise and glory to Your name forever. Amen.
